I was looking forward to dining here because I was staying in the Hotel but I was sadly disappointed by my experience. The food is overpriced and TERRIBLE! My boyfriend ordered the Perch... it came out and it looked like microwaved fish sticks. My Shrimp Scampi was disgusting too. The Shrimp looked like they came out of a bag and the pasta was very dry and flavorless. I was also disappointed with their lack of wines by the glass. This is traverse city right? We eat here at least once a month and the food quality has been getting worse and worse. We decided to give it one more chance. Had a table of seven for dinner. Waited for about half an hour after we ordered before any food appeared. First, the salads and soups came out by one waitress who put the tray on the tray holder and we sat and looked our salads and soups for several minutes before they were served. We almost served ourselves. Two of us ordered burgers, medium, and they came to us well done. Not just well done, but "hard-to-chew" well done. Another had the chicken sandwich and the bread was inedible because it was so stale . The three of us had fries which did not come out with the sandwiches. The fries came to the table a few minutes later. We got a dessert on the house for a complaint about the burgers. Nice gesture. But we won't be back. read more

This review is for the Beacon Lounge at the top of the building. I had high hopes when we found out that the hotel had a bar at the top of the tower. The views were great, but the experience was a huge disappointment. The room is VERY small and the music is far too loud for the experience to be enjoyable (unless you're 4+ drinks deep). Now don't call me stodgy and no fun, but I literally could not hear a single thing the person I was with was saying. This is a bar, not a night club. read more

After a very questionable first experience at Minerva's, we decided to give it another shot. We arrived 45 minutes before the kitchen closed just to get desserts after dining in somewhere else and was greeted rudely by one of the workers and told to sit in the bar area. We asked if we could just get a couple of cold desserts to-go and they made it seem like a major inconvenience and that they weren't even serving food, when there was still 40 minutes of service left (after she just threw the dessert menu on the table and walked away). Also not to mention, it took almost 10 minutes for someone to greet us at our table and they didn't even offer water. Gave this place a second chance but just can't do it. I would not recommend eating dinner here. Food is ok but there are honestly better options down the street. Steak tips were fatty and not really edible. The chicken Mac and cheese was salty and just not great. The Cesar salad has a weird taste to it and it cans with sautéed red onions which was also strange and not good. This place sucks. Only good part was the white chicken chili. Went there with a coupon for buy one get one free entrees and still ended up spending $42 before the tip. Got calamari to start which was extremely undercooked and soggy. The breading was falling off. I got the cedar cooked salmon which was okay. Came with 3 tiny asparagus stalks and mashed potatoes. Best part was the mashed potatoes. My boyfriend got the perch which he said was alright, but the rice was too salty and the "seasonal vegetables" was a small pile of over seasoned and over cooked squash and zucchini. The service wasn't bad, but it was weird. Multiple times we lost our waitress and then bam she'd pop up out of nowhere. This place was good at one point, but now it's just gross and sad. Minerva's is a happy hour favorite of mine! 3-6pm & 9-11pm I believe Sunday-Friday. Pizzas during happy are $6 and so yummy! My favorite is the Mediterranean which has feta, olives, tomatoes & cheese. Great to share and pair with a glass of wine or a beer. Today I ate there and had the Mac N' Cheese which was so rich and cheesy. It also came with a side house salad. The bread you get with your meal is awesome too. This place is great because it usually isn't packed and has a laid back bar area to mingle. read more

We ate here the other day. Ate here because it was Christmas Eve and we had just gotten into town and literally no other restaurants was open. Overall the experience was ok. When we got there they told us we could only eat at the bar even though there was plenty of tables open (there were plenty of tables open when we left as well). The bar was ok, but it was difficult to hold a conversation with more than one person due to the arrangement...Regardless, we ordered some food. The food was actually quite good. The white chili was delicious, along with their hamburger. The service was pretty nice as well. Overall, this was a decent place to eat if it is the only option you have. read more

My wife and I had an excellent dinner here. We started the coconut shrimp with a terrific sauce! My wife had a cup of potato jalapeño soup . Excellent flavor with a little kick to it. I had house salad which was fresh and served on a chilled plate. I had pork medallion Marcela. Sauce was laced with mushrooms and the portions were very adequate. My wife had a Ribeye steak done to perfection! Service was excellent and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Good quality at a reasonable price point. Great stand by, and their open late (by Traverse Standards). I can't figure out why most of the downtown restaurants close at 9 or 10pm. Even the bars that serve food, shut down pretty early. If its 10:15 and your just getting a chance go out and get a bite to eat, Minerva's has pretty good food and very nice wait staff. It's in the Park Place so its a nice place to eat, great pizza, pretty good mexican etc. Also a good place to duck into when the resturants on Front street have an hour wait and your hungry. read more

Happy Hour deals are great! We had 4 great pizzas and a great nacho plate. All for $36. It was so great, that I took 25 people there the next night to host our team dinner! The food is nothing to exciting. Similar what you would find at an Applebee's. Came to get breakfast to go as we had a busy morning ahead of us. The restaurant was empty. The hostess gave us menus and told us a waitress would come get our order. We decided on what to get and then waited at least 10 minutes until the hostess went to find the waitress again. About 5 minutes later she came to get our order. Food came out fast and was warm and ready to go. The waitress took gave me the bill and I have her my card. Again we had to wait until she came back and then ran my credit card. For to go service, it was rather slow. The waitress seemed annoyed to be interrupted by our order. Later in the week I walked through the restaurant to go to the conference center where she rudely gave me a hard time about my service animal. Came from out of town, walked in and felt like we might of been under dressed for the restaurant but were treated very well. We have four different tastes in our family, I love a good salad bar and this one was the best!!! My husband loves a good steak and he had the Minerva's New York and said it was in the top 5 of the steaks he has had. My daughter is a fettuccine Alfredo expert and this was her best ever. They had first come first serve in the bar area which was great because there was no wait. The server was very very rude. I often order to go from Minervas because I work downtown and it's a quick jaunt for some solid food. I've been satisfied plenty of times, but lately I've been more and more disappointed, prompting me to finally post my opinion on Yelp. I ordered a Bacon Cheddar Burger to go for me and a bowl of soup and bread for my boyfriend. Upon arriving to pick it up, we were informed it would be a bit longer for the burger to be finished. Not a big deal. Before we left, I asked for a side of ketchup. It never came. Upon digging into our meals once we'd left, I found that I'd been charged for a Bacon Cheddar Burger, but had only been given a regular burger. I was overcharged by $1.50. The top of the bun was stale and tough to chew. To top it off I ordered my burger medium well and received it pushing raw in the center. Thankfully, my boyfriend was pleased with his soup. If you order to go from Minerva's, here's a few tips and tricks: - If you order soup and want bread, make sure you specify that. Two slices of whole wheat and two slices of sourdough are supposed to come complementary with any soup. I've often had them left out. - When ordering soup, make sure you're getting more than half a to go container. Too many times I've gone in expecting bread (see above) and soup for a meal only to get back to the office and find all I have in my bag is half a cup of soup. - If you're using a discount card, make sure to tell them that as you order. They need a manager's approval to apply a discount. I've stood around waiting for an extra five minutes waiting for a manager. - Call ahead. Perhaps it's just me, but sitting at the bar and waiting for a to go order feels... funny. The bartenders don't really like taking food orders and would much rather serve you a drink than a meal. - When they give you a pick up time, it's generally right on or a little later. Don't bother showing up early thinking that it might be ready before quoted. - The food is better on the weekend and during typical dinner service hours. Midday on a Wednesday isn't the best time to go. read more

Just imagine that someone who used to work at an average American chain restaurant, like Chili's or TGIFriday's, tried (but failed) to fancy his food up for a hotel restaurant -- and there you have Minerva's. My family and I had Mother's Day brunch here. We called too late to make a reservation so they took our name and phone number down and luckily we did get a great reservation (table for five) time. We were the first ones there so the Buffett was fresh! Everything on the Buffett was amazingly good and I couldn't stop eating it. The service was also top notch. Our server kept out beverages full and took our plates away in a timely matter. The only reason I didn't give it a five star review was because of the dessert bar. You could tell they didn't make them. They were all store bought. The brunch Buffett had labels for everything but the dessert bar had zero labels and it was really had to choose which dessert I wanted because I didn't know what any of them were. This apple pie that looked like it was made in a spring form pan had the little parchment paper dividers between each slice. That was the first sign that they were store bought. The next sign was when I asked one of the chefs that was checking up on quantity of the desserts what one of them was and he just said they are all assorted. Also half of the pies were in those aluminum pie tins. Don't get me wrong, I had four different pieces of pie/cake (choc cherry cake, oreo cheesecake, carrot cake and some choc covered strawberries) and they were all very good and I had to get up and leave before I went back to get a fifth piece. Overall the service was great and so was the food. I just wish the desserts were homemade. I highly recommend one of their holiday buffets but make your reservation ASAP cause I thought calling ahead one week was enough time but it wasn't. Had early dinner here last Friday. Seating was prompt, friendly, and comfortable. We had a dinner salad with salmon and the fried perch. Both came out hot and beautiful presentation. I was almost positive that I had been here before and had written a review then. Alas, maybe a forgetful moment. Went here with my mother and a group of about 9-10 others. It was a nice time. We shared a salad- the spinach/cranberry/pecan with salmon (upcharge to add protein). We also subbed out the gorgongross with some feta cheese, no problemo. Excellent. We just had water drink so it was a reasonable 15$ dinner, with the 18% factored in for our larger party. Just fine, thanks much. read more

A warm place for a cold night. What a great place to eat in Traverse City. I ate off their special Marti Gras Menu, the Jambalaya was perfect and the Walnut salad could not have been any better. Minervas is AWESOME!!!!!! We stayed at the park Place Hotel, and I couldn't get enough of the wonderful food, the friendly staff, and the extremely reasonable prices! They have a 4~6 and 9~11 happy hour that is without rival. Several of the menu items are ~50% off, including Specialty Pizza's, Nachos, quesadillas, and wings. I tried them all (several more than once), and they were fantastic! The drink quality and prices were very good even outside of happy hour. They made a mean dirty martini and a great spicy bloody mary! If I'm ever in the neighborhood, I can guarantee I'll be back! read more

We also tried the cherry bbq wings-- good, but nothing special. The waitstaff and cleanliness of our table left a bit to be desired as well...
