We were up there for our 47 Year Anniversary and had a great time up there, and it was worth the time to try and have lunch there. We were recommend this place by a gal who lives in Traverse City that we met earlier in the day. She said it is a place that the locals frequent and that we should order the gyro and wings. We were able to get two seats at the bar on a busy Friday night. The bartenders were fantastic...so friendly, fast, and attentive to all at the bar that it was impressive. We had a couple of drinks and the gyro and wings. Both were really good. The gyro was full of meat and the pita fluffy. The wings were perfectly juicy and the sauce was tasty. I only wish they had an option to order a smaller amount. 8 is a lot for us at a sitting, but because they were so good, we took them to the hotel and ate them the next day. This place is pretty cool. The atmosphere is very low key. You can tell people come here for the meal though we only had drinks. The interesting part of this bar is that you could tell at one time it was an old supper Club. Long and narrow with rounded booths all along one side. I could just picture the place being painted red and these booths having low light on the table just enough for a couple to come in and enjoy a good jazz session. This is probably one of my favorite places in Traverse City. From atmosphere to food this place is a staple and one of the few late night food spots. I highly recommend going to this place and literally ordering anything on the menu because it's all good. The only negative part is they charge for ranch or side condiments for foods that I think should automatically come with one free side but literally love everything else about this place! read more

We came in for a quick lunch break. Service was fast and we had a very nice server. Definitely try their speciality sodas- we had a cherry and a diet and both were delicious. We had "a cider" the name of which was unidentifiable because it's loooooud in here on a Saturday night at midnight...as it should be in a bar (later researching say this cider was the Octorock from Starcut Ciders). It was sweet, delicious, refreshing. Would def order again. We also had the fried cauliflower and Tater Kegs (a giant stuffed tater tot, basically). Both were good, but the Tater Kegs were the winner. A delightful potato pillow full of chives & cheese. 10/10 would order again. Everything came with ranch dressing. Apparently this is the place to go for a gyro, but we didn't get a chance to sample those. Def grateful for places open late in TC! Food was served until just before midnight, even tho they are open later. Street parking was easy and service was helpful & friendly. read more

A great place with cozy seating! Many circle booths, a few tables and a long bar! Super busy but great service in this northern Michigan bar! They have many tapped beer along with full bar beverages. This place is lucky I rate not only on a single grumpy server. Shyann was the bartender that likes to bang glass around. Amber seamed nicer but she was on the other end of the bar, my bad luck in seating choices. Ok back to Shyann, she poured my spirts into a glass and then tossed a scoop full of ice into the glass spilling sever ice cubes onto the bar. Yea they are fully melted now. We will see if she wipes up the water any time soon. She asked if I wanted to eat or just drink. I said I wanted to look at the menu. Still have not see the menu yet (how long does it take for ice to melt?) She was fixing another customer his drink and opened the refrigerator door, left it wide open and banged the bottle on another door handle. Gods be with her as the bottle did not break. Oh and you will love this....a customer asked her "do you have any toothpicks back there?" Her response "at the other end of the bar I do". Maybe I was in a mood but that did not sound like a proper response. Otherwise this looks like a nice place but I am starting to get the feeling it is a local hangout as she knew the guy next to me at the bar wanted a cherry white claw. Why rate a 4 you ask? It is cozy, clean, decorated, several TVs. There is plenty of room. Well my drink is almost over, I think I will check Yelp to find a place to eat. read more

In fact, our server told me families are not encouraged since the bar sold to new owners and if you have anyone under 21 with you past 9 PM you'll be asked to leave. Even though I had 2/3 of my beer left after spending $55 for dinner with my 16 yr old son I was told we needed to finish and leave right at 9pm. Server said they are mostly just a 'dive bar,' ....which is cool... just know U&I and their new owners wish to cater to the adults only crowd. read more

It's not fancy and in winters it can sometimes be a bit chilly, but darn it, they've got the best Gyro's in town. You can get a regular lamb gyro or chicken. Also a nice greek side salad or fries. All the food is better than your average bar and nice to see the greek items on the menu. It's also a good place to watch a game or for late night dining. Nice selection of Michigan beers. The service was terrible. I sat here for 30 minutes without being served. I attempted to get the attention of a waitress and even made eye contact before she signaled indicating she wouldn't be coming over to our table. Several tables of people who arrived well after we did were served before us. Unfortunately, we had to leave. Thankfully there are many, much improved, options just a quick walk away. It is very rare that I will write a one star review but the way the bouncer treated us trying to just get into this place was horrendous. I get the social distancing aspect and the need to have a safe space but you don't need to be rude to us. The bouncer with the unforgettable beard that parts in the middle "shoosed" us out when we got the door without him being at his post. He could have politely said that others were waiting ahead of us versus being a jerk. I understand having a bad day but don't alienate customers and a person who lives in Traverse City who may know a few people. Honestly looked like a great place but I haven't been treated this awful in some time. So my next time in the city I won't even try to stop there...sorry! read more

I usually have patronized this place as it's more mature. However I noticed the bills were getting heavy and Boone ever provided a itemized receipt. Last Tuesday I went in and received 32$ ticket and tipped $8 accordingly. I usually tip well, but I sorta felt funny as my bills were always high especially for the area. Well capitol one sent me an email this week asking if I gave a 57% tip and the bill really was 25.50$ with a marked up $14.50 tip. This crew is a bunch of scammers and thieves. Used to love this bar until the bouncer yelled at us for petting a dog. This bar is good for sticky tables, cheap beer, and late night pizza, but the bouncer has to go. I was with a group of friends, mostly women, when we left the bar at 11pm on a Friday night. We say a dog tied to a tree and decided to pet the dog. The bouncer came out of the bar just to say, "why are you petting that dog? You dont know that dog. Stop petting him!" We honestly thought he was messing around with us because of the over the top reaction so we laughed and continued to pet the dog. He then walks from the bar to our group and says, "Dint f***ing touch that dog!" We walked away tempted to call the cops or management because he was very aggressive toward us which made us feel unsafe. Not how a bouncer should make people feel. THEN the owner of the dog comes out of the bar and tells at as from down the street, "Dont touch my f***ing dog! If I hear anyone is touching my dog I'll kill them!" He goes back inside the bar. The bouncer clearly let's people in who are not safe to the community and pushes people away who are honest human beings. Do you want to go to a bar that hates dog lovers and loves drunk homeless people? Then this is the bar for you! read more
