Third and last visit to the Mineshaft. Went with a fairly large group today for Easter brunch. Hard to say what was worse, the food or the service. We had reservations for noon, but were seated an hour or so late. Easy to figure out why. When we were all finished eating and ready to leave, our server was MIA. She didn't show up often to refill drinks or see if anyone needed anything. We waited a long time to get our bills when others may have been waiting for our tables. The gratuity was added to our checks, when that amount should be up to the patrons, not the establishment. The buffett was a train wreck, very poorly set up with patrons going every which way to get their food. There was food all over the floor that was not being cleaned up, and the food itself was just plain bad. Who can't make scrambled eggs. Kid's enjoyed the games, but too are costly. read more

Just left the restaurant, was my first visit to the Mineshaft. I'm not sure I'd want to go back. The food was OK but the waitress/service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. We were seated at table 211. We suspected the waitress knew people at table 204 based on the amount of time she spent there while neglecting other tables. This was confirmed when she was hugging them when they were leaving. We were at our table for nearly two hours, a lot of that time spent just waiting for service, couldn't wait to get out of there. Only writing this review to let anyone know about their social distancing. They are running at full capacity. No social distancing. If you go on a Wednesday or Friday, you will be packed in their like sardines. Totally fine under different circumstances but might not be for everyone in the current state of things. This restaurant has gone steadily downhill. The Sunday brunch is sadly lacking as is the service. you pay a premium price for average offerings both in quantity and quality. The bakery was not homemade for the most part. I could buy the exact same offerings at Sam's Club. not what we expected for the price. When they first opened, it was great. Today, however, was a whole different story. The brunch buffet was nowhere what it used to be. The eggs were from a bag, and overcooked.Sausage gravy was like water. The ribs were tough. The melons on the fruit bar were not ripe. No lettuce on salad bar. No fish of any kind. 90% of the bakery was out of a box. The breakfast sausage were brown and serve. Used to be real. Not at all what it used to be. This was not the first time we left unhappy. My wife and I came in to eat at the bar. Order drinks and were then told they do not allow eating dinner at the bar after 430. If you are looking to sit at the bar keep that in mind. I think they could have at least made the exception once since we already ordered our drink. There were no signs around and we ended up leaving. If I could give a 0 I would. The fish is left out all day prior to Friday night Fish fry in a sink. All the kitchen staff doesn't wear masks while preparing the food. The games are wiped down with a water based spray not actual chemicals and the prizes are over priced. read more

This place really wasn't that great last night. I understand it was packed for fish fry Friday but it took over an hour and a half before we got seated. When we got seated it took over 15 mins for the waitress to even acknowledge my group and she just said oh I'll be with you in a minute it was another 5 minutes before she showed up and took our meal order but then completely forgot about our drink orders and we had to mention that we'd like our drinks as well. After another 40 mins we finally got our food and it was all cold. The manager came over and said he'd remake all of it and he'd take care of us for the rest of the night because the waitress didn't want to help us. After that the meal was really good for the most part. After we got the bill and we payed since we still needed the waitress when we pay the bill she asked one of the male waiters to come to the table to grab the check from the table and when he lies to us saying oh he needs his pen back and then grabs the bill for her and I look over and there the waiter and the waitress are laughing and starring at the table. I don't know if I'll ever come back unless that place makes some big changes. read more

Went for dinner last week while in town visiting family. Had a great server who was new and the server training her were great. Ordered a Woodford Reserve Manhattan, they tried but failed at it. I don't know what they did to it but sent the first back and the 2nd was just as bad. Ordered poutine for an app, first one came out cold. I chose to get mine with tater tots, the tots were stale. Sent that back, the second was hot, well the tots and gravy, the cheese was cold. If you want to have a Canadian dish on your menu, make sure you know how to make it. My main dish was spaghetti and meat sauce. There was pasta-a-plenty, the sauce was sparse. The garlic bread was basically dried out bread with a few flakes of parsley. All of this and we waited over an hour for our food. No one from management ever stopped by to ask if things were alright. I did find it very nice that the server decided to take the carrot cake off the bill because they didn't have it. But rather charge for a diet pepsi that no one at the table even ordered. For a place that has owners that have been in business since the 70s and have provided services for huge events and spent the money they did a on a new building, there should have been some good training at their restaurant in Hartford and better training on-site. There was a card on the table explaining they are new. That is totally unacceptable and embarrassing. If you're not ready to open, don't open. If you expect me to have sub par food and sub par service, charge sub par prices!!! read more

What a joke! The service is horrible, and the chefs must have recently been working as cab drivers. I ordered AYCE shrimp which after 45 min was served with cocktail sauce that they make out of paste and ketchup. I called the manager over because you could turn the plastic container upside down while shaking it, and not a drop would fall out. His rude reply was "the customers love it", and walked away. My family lives in Oshkosh and we have gone twice when visiting and neither time of have been great. They made this location look so upscale but the food doesn't match. Everything was bland and had next to no flavor. I got a burrito and meat had no flavor, beans were blah. Brother asked for a burger MR and it was well done...and had tomato when he asked for no tomato. Sister got pasta and it was mushy and had no seasoning. Everyone else said their food was flavorless and worst off everything came to the table JUST warm...not hot....just slightly above room temp. I feel they think because they have an arcade they are a Chuck E Cheese because the food is similar. I hope they revamp their menu and get it together as the food should match the atmosphere. I won't be wanting to go back until I see some changes in the quality of their food. I honestly hate when places try to do ALL the things and wish this place would just focus on burgers, sandwiches, steaks and pizza. And do them WELL. I honestly think this place is currently being kept open because kids like the arcade...not the food. read more

I'm not sure why people have given this place such negative reviews. I've gone there twice and I enjoyed each time. The portions are amazing! Nobody in my group was able to finish our meals. The food is also quite exceptional. My group and I got wings, poutine, broccoli soup, Italian soup, broccoli cheddar bites, a salad, a steak, ribs, and a chicken sandwich. All of us absolutely loved our meals! The service is also great. Our server checked on us constantly and was super nice. There wasn't too much of a wait when we went but we still hung out at the bar for awhile, which is super cool! We also really loved the arcade! All of the workers were wearing masks, so I'm not sure why past reviews said that was a problem. My favorite part about this place tough is the design. It's absolutely stunning! It really feels like you're in a luxury mineshaft! It's a little more pricey depending on what you get but overall I definitely recommend. read more

Pro: cheap food, if you're on a budget. Con: cheap food and you can tell. There's nothing special about the food; I've eaten better at college cafeterias and grocery store delis. TLDR: I'm not a foodie, but we also don't want to pay restaurant prices for what amounted to a glorified tv dinner. We stopped in so the kids could play games and to eat something other than our standard travel meals of fast food or sandwiches on our way home from a weekend trip. It was 1 PM and they had a Sunday brunch running until 2; both the brunch and menu prices seemed a bit low; $16.99 for adults and anyone older than 7 ("kids discount" for just ages 4-7?) Two kids had the spaghetti and my husband had the four piece chicken; I had the buffet with one of my daughters. It was terribly disappointing - everything we had was quite literally straight off the back of a food service truck; virtually nothing seemed to be homemade or even have any quality to it at all. It was an impressive looking spread with four buffet tables of food and a long counter chock full of desserts, but they apparently cater to big appetites who don't care what's in the food. I have a lot of sensitivities and can't eat a ton of fat, so I figured pancakes and eggs would be safe if the meat was greasy or at least a salad as a back up. There were no greens in sight, just four variations of macaroni/mayo cold salads, four kinds of melon, beets, cottage cheese and some kind of cold rice pudding. The dessert spread was mainly the kind that you buy in bulk and thaw, like cheesecakes and mini-cupcakes or bake, like mini turnovers and cookies; there were a few items they must make on site, like tiramisu in a cup and a bread pudding, but my girls said they were way too sweet and couldn't finish the miniature serving. The hot food was typical - chicken, ham, some kind of beef, sausage, biscuits and gravy, tater tots and scrambled eggs, but they were all the greasiest I'd ever seen. Both pans of scrambled eggs appeared to have cheese on them, but on my 2nd trip, I realized the "plain" eggs just had that much grease or were not mixed well - they must use the pre-made egg mixes with additives, not actual eggs. The french toast was bright yellow and was the kind you order from a food service company. I couldn't even take any of it, it was just so off-putting to look at. The buffet said it included made-to-order pancakes, which are usually pretty safe, but failed to mention they aren't on the buffet, you have to order them from the server. They came quickly, but they were gummy and tasted like a boxed funfetti cake. I asked the server if I could just get a couple plain fried eggs and she came back and said they kitchen said they couldn't do it. I literally ate a couple pieces of pineapple and a few dried out tater tots; my daughter ate more, but later ended up with a stomach ache, likely due to the huge amount of salt, sugar, grease and preservatives. My husband said the chicken was average, the other kids didn't eat much of the spaghetti, which was top heavy on meat sauce, and they didn't like the few items I let them try from the buffet. The place is really impressive looking with nice decor and everything was clean while the servers were pretty good, but I ended up eating a sandwich in the car after we spent an hour in the arcade with the kids. The arcade really is epic, but the prize area has the prizes for the different points levels distributed around the entire room and it was really confusing for the kids, so we saved the points for another time; the lower levels they could count to easily were mainly candy and they didn't need that the day before Halloween. We'll probably come back for the arcade and maybe try some pizza if we're back in town ever - that was a full page of the menu, so maybe that's their specialty. Like others have said, it's a really big place that probably needs to trim its menu and focus on higher-quality, higher priced food that matches the decor and service. If they were closer to the college, they could probably make a killing as an alternative to the student union, but they are on the wrong side of town. The crowd while we were there clearly was in search of a large quantity of cheap food; nothing wrong with that, but it just felt off compared to the surroundings and location. The bar could really be hopping, but there didn't seem to be much action on a Sunday afternoon; we didn't try any drinks, but they had a great setup to make them if the bartenders are any good. read more

We had never been to the Mineshaft before so when we went in we had to give our name and number to reserve a spot. I've had to do this before at other places and they will call or text the number given when they are ready for you. We were told the wait would be 25 minutes and decided to sit in our vehicle since there was not much room to wait inside and it was very windy out. After 35 minutes and no call, we decided to start walking inside. As we were walking in we received a call saying that our table was ready. We walked inside and were told that our table had been ready for 15 minutes and had called out our name a couple times and finally decided to call us. We were never told any information on what the protocol was for waiting and the girl that took our name and number wasn't very personable I begin with. The hostess told another girl "Here's the people we were waiting for for 15 minutes that never came"...I found this to be a little rude because they could have just called our number and we would've came right in. Other customers had also decided to wait in their cars, too. Once seated, we put in our order. We had an appetizer and I had a salad with my meal. When we were done with the plates, no one came to clear them, even when they brought our meals out. My husband's burger was mediocre at best. A thin patty that seemed to be frozen and not made fresh. I had the buffalo chicken mac and cheese and unfortunately it was so bland...it literally seemed like there was no cheese in it at all. It just tasted like buttered noodles and the chicken reminded me of school food. We were never asked if we wanted any refills or if the food was good. We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant but it completely fell short. We definitely will not be back when there are so many quality restaurants to go to in Oshkosh, where even something as simple as having a good staff is a given. read more

This is a very disappointing pizza. Sauce is nothing more than crushed tomatoes. No spices at all. Toppings are VERY skimpy. So much so that my husband asked if I had ordered it with meat. Oshkosh offers much better pizza than this. The gimmick of a mine shaft does make up for lack of taste. Decore was nice, games are fun, but the food and service was TERRIBLE!! The pricing OVERPRICED!!! I had the chicken alfredo, my husband had the spaghetti, we also got the steak and baby back ribs. Honestly, the only plate that was well seasoned was the steak. The ribs were too salty and our pasta, tasted like watered down canned sauces and was very bland. I could make all of those dishes better at home. The server only brought us our drinks and refilled once. We ordered alcohol, but we did tell her we also wanted water at the beginning. Had to tell her three times until she finally brought our waters out with no explantation, and they had a food runner bring us our food, which i found very odd, and all the server does is clean up after. I honestly dont understand the concept of being a server over there because I am a server as well and we bring the food to our customers to provide quality customer care and service. I understand they're slammed and busy, but if it is really is THAT busy, check on your customers every 10 minutes, not every 20-30 minutes!! I finished my water in 10, where's my damn refill? I honestly dont know what they do because their sections are well spaced out, and I saw a couple of servers stand in the corner, thinking that no one can see them, talking for 10-15 minutes. When we were there it wasnt exactly busy, but we sat for an hour and a half for our food to get to us that my husband was sleeping on table. Worst restaurant in Oshkosh WI. , Went there on Friday for all you can eat fish fry , arrived shortly after 4 p.m. , waitress took order went to game room came back food was there 2 pieces of ocean perch and 6-8 pieces of shrimp and a bunch of soggy small fires and half a piece of rye bread , requested another serving and waitress submitted order to the kitchen and ten minutes later she comes back with a dumb look on her face asking you didn't receive your items I said nope , she resubmitted order and disappeared and ten minutes later she walks by again and still no fish , she resubmits order again for the third time and waited again and nothing entire time my cup of mountain dew was empty she never asked if I wanted more . And pretty much I was fed up and had enough. They never apologized they didn't even remove my food from bill , and I ended up getting up and leaving my wife and kids and wife's parents sitting at table and walked home to my house over by Menominee park . I will never go to this shit hole ever again . I even messaged the Mineshaft on there Facebook page and never heard back . Do not give these people your money there are plenty of restaurants that actually appreciate customers and treat you properly . The waitress tried to claim other waitresses were taking my food and giving it to their customers . What a waste read more

I had the highest of expectations for this place and it was an epic flop. There is a Mineshaft in Hartford Wisconsin that I have attended multiple times and have given five stars to each time I have been there. When I heard Oshkosh was getting a Mineshaft I was beyond thrilled! When I first got there I was super impressed. The wait staff were great, the bar was great, the arcade was great, the overall atmosphere was great. However, the food was absolutely terrible! If you are from Wisconsin you probably know how important Friday night fish fry is. So when I tell you this was the worst fish fry I have ever had that is saying something. The fish had no flavor at all, it was slimy, undercooked, and just overall not a great fish fry. I also tried bits and pieces of friends meals and I would say that those weren't so great either. My sister had some tacos that turned out pretty good but other than that I was extremely disappointed in the food. Therefore I felt they were very over priced for the quality of food I was receiving. I do want to make clear that the two star rating is for the food and the price of the food. If you are looking for a fun atmosphere this place is great for that. Their bar was impressive... expensive, but impressive. Their arcade is hands down one of the best arcades in the Fox Valley. You can easily spend hours in here playing games. I would rate the atmosphere of this place four stars because if you're with a group of friends it could be really fun place to hang out at. read more
