Four years ago I left a less than complimentary review, since then I have returned several times with much better results. While I usually get there for breakfast or lunch I have nothing but positive feedback to give. I am particularly impressed with there breakfasts, especially their Build Your Own Omelette. We've been to the Mineshaft a few times now and I will say you need to stick to the Friday fish fry and the game room and you'll have a good time. All the other food we have tried (burgers, Mexican entrees) was mediocre and bland. They don't seem to season anything. But that beer battered haddock - oh man! I was pleasantly surprised! Very good and for only $7 all you can eat?! What a deal! The game room is a lot of fun too, so it's a great place to bring the kids. read more

We went to the Mineshaft for Easter Brunch. They advertised $24.00 per person. Not only was it not worth $24.00, but the actual price was $28.00. The chicken had no flavor and was dry. The rest of the food was barely warm. This was the last time I will visit them. It's disappointing because we have eaten at the one in Hartford and it had always been good. We went here a couple of weeks ago (My wife, my son, and Grandson and I.) Ordered our drinks........took about 20 minutes to receive the softdrinks for my fam, another few minutes for my beer. Food was ok.........not very warm.........service was not good. the Waiter was a nice young man who was couteous, so i'm thinking much of it was out his control? Bigger isn't always better. This is a GIANT place that suffers from how big it is. I get the allure, but the main function of a restaurant is to provide good food and great service. The food is OK. Robert Irvine would tell them to trim back the menu ones focusing on making what they do offer excellent. Pretty much all of us felt "meh" about our food. My taco salad was OK. My son-in-law's order was not even correct. When I polled everyone at our table, they aren't sure they'd return. And the service? We know they had recently opened, but none of the servers seemed adequately trained. Service was SLOW. Orders were WRONG. Even the bills were incorrect. If you are there for meh food and prefer the spectacle of a giant restaurant with a giant game room, then Mineshaft will be right up your alley. read more

Good atmosphere for children to make fun memories as long as you've brought enough money. The game room is amazing! In ways that are good and bad. The games are programed to payout at little as possible yet have enough flashing lights and loud sounds to give children (and adults) a dopamine hook very similar to gambling. If you bring $50-$100 you might be able to leave with a poorly stitched stuffed animal. BUT... as long as money is no issue to you or your children, it can be an amazing memory. The food takes so long to get to you that you spend all your extra cash on drinks while your kids come back to you multiple times asking for more money for the games. As long as you have time and money to burn, it can be very very fun! It can be a bit stressful if you're on a budget. Don't expect to sit down, eat, and be out the door in less than an hour. The staff is very friendly and there's always plenty of parking! I think they expected to bring in more people from far away being right off the highway. In my opinion, the place doesn't fit Oshkosh currently. But one can dream, right? read more

Just happened upon this place. Huge parking lot so definitely, no problems there. Stopped in here to eat a couple times while visiting the area for the 2021 AirVenture. Both times, we had to wait to be seated. But I think that was partially our timing and partially a staffing problem. Each time, there was a server issue...out of silverware, missing items on our orders, no follow up after serving, wrong items, etc. Again, I think it was because they were probably experiencing their first real "slam" in customers. Each time they made up for the mistakes by not charging for items or by comping deserts! So they were really trying in my book. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. We'll, at least my orders. My friends lived their steaks...maybe I should have ordered that...ha! I liked the atmosphere. There is a video & game section, a nice horseshoe bar with TV monitors, and a large dining area. Definitely a good place to stop if you're with the kids or have a large group. This was our first time here and will not be returning for the food. Arcade was fun and arcade staff were so friendly!! Food, however was gross and made me and my child sick a few hours later. Soup came cold with a film on the top like it had been sitting somewhere for a period of time before being served (it also came with the meal as if the waiter forgot to bring it earlier). We used to love going here, but over the last few months it has gotten progressively worse! we like to sit at the bar and eat. Service has gotten to be horrible. Servers and bartenders are more interested in chatting with each other than taking care of customers. This last time they were cutting up fruit and cheese at the bar in front of us, yuck! I ate at the Mineshaft today for lunch. I ordered a taco salad with extra sour cream. The order came swimming in sour cream. I sent it back. The 2nd not much better. This is what the menu states: A crisp bed of lettuce topped with your choice of Mexican seasoned ground beef, shredded beef, chicken or shrimp and salsa, shredded cheese, pico, sour cream and avocado. Served in a deep fried flour tortilla bowl - $12.99 1. The "bed of lettuce" was a few strands of shredded lettuce barely covering the bottom of the bowl. 2. The "seasoned ground beef" was completely flavorless. 3. The shredded cheese was minimal. 4. The deep fried flour tortilla bowl was dry and tasted like cardboard. I have eaten the taco salad before and it was very good so I'm thinking perhaps it was an inexperienced worker who could use more training. read more

My kids love eating here for their birthdays and then playing in the game room. Last night was a horrible experience. We made a reservation for 16 and were placed in the "Copper Room". When we arrived, the room was being used by a family (and staff) for a child that was throwing a massive tantrum. Eventually, the child was pulled from the room, kicking and screaming, so we could be seated. Room was not cleaned again and we were seated. Waitress entered, took our drink order and left. As she left, the door closed and we find a large, very bloody bandage - just laying on the floor behind the door. (I showed this to FOUR DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES that had entered the room before somebody would pick it up. We had children with us that I had to keep telling to stay away from it. DISGUSTING.) Drinks came. I had ordered a Mudslide but was brought a chocolate shake. Took 20 minutes for that to be replaced. Never got the water I asked for 3x. Ended up sharing a drink with one of my kids. Ordered food, and it took quite a while to come. Busy night, so we didn't fault the restaurant for that. My daughter got a calzone that was the texture of wet crackers. It couldn't be picked up. It LEAKED when cut into. She returned it to the kitchen and got no replacement, it was removed from our bill. I ordered AYCE shrimp. I was never asked about a refill. I asked THREE times for one. Finally got it as our group was heading to play in the game room. What is the point of ordering that if you have to BEG for it to be delivered? Very disappointing. Husband ordered cod, was given perch. Waitress argued that it was, in fact, cod. Next plate had cod. Looked completely different. My daughter asked for a container. Waitress motions to the cabinet and says that's where they are. Alrighty. We were about to pay at the hostess station when the waitress finally returned with our bills. We had to pay a $50 deposit for our reservation. It was "refunded" for our troubles. Charge is still there today. We also HAD to pay gratuity, which is a joke, since we were forgotten about and left on our own to go find what we needed. My husband had to go to the hostess station to get a box for our pizza and to ask about more shrimp, which was finally delivered, NOT by our waitress. I'm overall VERY disappointed, and in the future, I think we will dine elsewhere and then use the game room. Should have known to change plans when our reserved room was being held hostage by a tiny tyrant (who knows what that kid touched or knocked to the ground and parents put back), and the bandage should have been a SURE SIGN! read more

Don't waste your time or money. The food was bland. Our pasta hadn't been drained so everything on our plates was soggy and watered down. Service was super slow, and the restaurant was REALLY loud. All we could hear was the restaurant roar and the super loud announcements: "Joe, party of 2..." On top of all that, we got charged for the soup that was supposed to come with our meal. So the food is great and so was our waitress. I honestly was going back and forth in my mind to give it 4 stars, and honestly the main thing that affected my thought process was they have some major kinks to work out. Now the food was great! Temperature on some items needs adjusting,but that's a kink. Other than that it was quite good. The service from our waitress was also amazing. She was very good at giving suggestions and adjusting based on dietary restrictions. I feel awful I forgot her name, but I did ensure she was compensated well. Now the kink that needs adjusting is to be expected for a new restaurant, but with their sister store in Hartford I did have higher expectations. They honestly are not ready yet, or prepared for rushes or crowds. I saw a lot of people standing around doing nothing, maybe training, while customers were waiting extended times for tables. I think with the size of this place they may have bit off more they can chew. In time I'm more than sure they will be running smoothly, and I will update the review in a few months. I'm not making this a knock per se, but a word of caution and during fish fry days expect to have to wait. You can tell and feel that they get overwhelmed pretty quickly. Even when talking to the hostess she was very flustered very quickly. They are growing pains and will be ironed out, I hope, but for right now just expect a bit of a wait. So went into today. With my elderly mother. Who has trouble eating many foods do to health issues. She asked for a grilled cheese she saw on the menu. Was informed she couldn't get that because it was on the kids menu. Asked if she could ket it as an adult order. Would pay extra thats fine. However was told no that wasn't in option. One thing if they didn't make them but just wouldn't because it was a senior citizen ordering not a child. Also when there one of the waitress when she asked where the restroom was. The waitress actually said I'm busy ask someone else. WHAT!! That combo had us walking out. Used to go there myself routinely. Food has always been okay. Services have been average. Made reservations well in advance (at least a week) for a birthday party. When I asked for a room I was told they cannot guarantee the room until the day of. I was then told of there was not a room available that we would be put on the floor but somewhat secluded for our party (which would have been fine). We arrived and our table was not ready . Our entire party was waiting in the lobby. When seated we were seated directly next to another big table on the floor with all booths correctly around us full! . I didn't mind but I'm sure the tables around us did as most of our party was little kids. We then added the game room specials to to our order instead of doing g a pizza party package. When looking around there were at least 2 rooms empty that we were told that were completely booked . Not to mention the structure of the night NEEDS HELP! With the game room special you aren't given your tokens until after dinner (& cake if you decide too) so in the meantime I have a bunch of antsy children waiting when they could have been off having fun. Wonderful food. The ambience was amazing. The service was great. The game room was amazing.

We were excited to try this place. We love the one in Hartford, WI. First: The place is amazing. It is huge & the decor is awesome. Bathrooms great, bar beautiful, huge parking lot. Well that's all I can say about it on a positive note. I ordered the baked pasta (11.99), came with salad and garlic bread. Waitress cautioned that plate was very hot - well the food wasn't. Half of the pasta wasn't covered with any sauce. A jar of Ragu would have had more flavor - if I closed my eyes I wouldn't know what I was eating. The garlic bread had not one bit of garlic. My husband had a burger & he said it also had no flavor. We are so disappointed as we would go there often if it had been any good. I'm sure people will go to check it out and will be impressed by the ambience, but probably won't go back for the food. read more

We had a really large group of family members (about 20 people total including adults & kids) to celebrate my dad's 89th Birthday on Wed Nov 20th, 2024. We had a reservation for 5pm & when we arrived, they had our table all setup & ready for us. Our Waitress (Amelia) was at our table immediately with a big smile & a very warm & friendly welcome. Our Waitress (Amelia) was an absolutely FANTASTIC Waitress, one of the best that we've dealt with in many years! As we were all getting settled in, we had a few surprise visitors that joined my dad's birthday celebration. Our waitress (Amelia) was right on top of everything & she immediately added another table to make sure that everyone was comfortable while eating their meal & didn't feel like you were being crammed in like sardines while eating. In addition to that, Amelia went out of her way to accommodate my dad by making sure that he felt extra "special" while celebrating this 89th Birthday of his. She got him a "special" cocktail (yes, a bit of a boozy one, which he really liked) in addition to a Root Beer Float to enjoy after he had enjoyed his Birthday meal. I was watching my dad with that Root Beer Float & he was thoroughly enjoying that! All the adults in our group ended up getting the All You Can Eat Fish Fry for $9.99 per person (maybe it was less, I'm not sure because someone in our group paid for everyone's meal). OMG it was absolutely amazing ~ everything was very FRESH & HOT. The Seasoned French Fries were delicious, and the Tatter Tots were the bomb! We had the BEST TIME EVER thanks to our amazing Waitress (Amelia) who went out of her way to make sure that EVERYONE in our group was taken care of. She was so much fun; she has a great sense of humor, and she fit right in with our "wild n crazy" family! By the time we left that evening we were saying that our Waitress (Amelia) was "Our Sister from another Mister" & we asked her if she was going to join all of us for Thanksgiving!! The only reason they got 2 stars is because of the server. A young man from Chicago was one of best servers I have had. Otherwise they would have got 1 star. Ordered a Prime Rib and ordered it Medium Rare and it came Medium Well. And talk about a TASTELESS piece of beef! The baked potato must have been in the warmer since Monday. Came all wrinkled skin and hard. Why would you serve something that bad is beyond me! Their check has a sugested tip from the total including the tax. THAT IS NOT RIGHT! A family friendly restaurant that has a nice atmosphere, lots of space and a menu that would serve anyones tastes. We found the waitstaff friendly and very attentive.
