They do have fried options on the menu, but we chose the fresh, lighter choices and were so glad we did. The homemade soups were fantastic. He tried both the lobster bisque and the New England clam chowder, and we also had the spinach salad with poppy seed dressing--absolutely delicious! Then we tried the daily special: a blackened shrimp wrap with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. You could tell the potatoes were homemade, and everything tasted fresh and made with care. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. I wish we had discovered it years ago! Hands down, one of the best places I've eaten in Carolina Beach in many years. We will definitely be back as soon as possible!

The catch of the day was blackened swordfish and it was fantastic. My wife had the crab cake sandwich and it was amazing. But the part that I loved the most was my son's fish sticks. I half expected Gorton's for a kid but they came out, fresh fried fish and it was delicious. I ended up eating the rest of what he couldn't finish. This wasn't my first visit but it's been years since I was here. Glad to see it's still going strong. It stays as my top recommendation for folks coming to Carolina Beach

Service…read morewas great, food was amazing, we had a reservation so we were seated right away, and we like the vibe here. Even though you are in a strip mall, this is a comfortable location. We started with an appetizer we have not had before and we really enjoyed it. Get the Crab dip. You get a hot, bubbly dish of the dip with some fried pita chips. Get some bread at the table too, so you can enjoy the dip if you run out of chips. My husband loved it so much he ate it plain. We got some excellent entrees this time. We had the Figure 8 stuffed flounder. Instead of the green beans and risotto, he got risotto cakes and sautéed spinach. Risotto cakes are really good. Nice and crispy and so tasty. We also had the lemon pepper scallops with risotto cakes and asparagus. We really enjoyed everything and our server was so nice. I didn't take a pic but I also had the handcrafted lemonade which is delicious. Unfortunately no room for dessert, but they have some yummy selections to try. We have enjoyed coming here repeatedly and do enjoy this place. We have had very few minor issues that were not deal breakers for coming in. As with any restaurant, they will have some minor flaws. Overall it is consistently good.

They just have a miserable kitchen staff or lack of leadership at management level. It will be a very long time before we return, but Dan and Jason at the bar were amazing! It is a sad situation that the "seafood" meals are hosed up! 2 stars as my chicken sandwich was decent. So disappointing! Such a cute place

"Delicious dive on Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach"…read more Came here for lunch on a Sunday at right around noon. The place is dark and kind-of makes you feel like you're in the bowels of a wooden ship. There's a large bar in the center, and a few tables around it, as well as a few tables outside in the back. We were seated right away. I ordered the hot honey shrimp wrap as well as the pickled veggies appetizer. My dining partner got the quinoa grain and greens bowl with blackened tuna. Our food came out in around 10 minutes. The hot honey shrimp wrap came with french fries, to my surprise (didn't see that mentioned on the menu), which were fine. The wrap itself was DELICIOUS. MAN, that hot honey was SO tasty, and the greens and corn batter on the shrimp really complemented it well. It is a very, very messy dish to eat with your hands, so be prepared, but it's well worth the sacrifice. The pickled veggies were local and very tasty-- also a very good value for $5. My dining partner really liked her bowl and the tuna in it as well. The staff were quite attentive, regularly checking in, filling drinks, and clearing dirty plates. Only caution is that a lot of the batters are corn-based, so be careful if you have that allergy. Overall, would very happily come back-- great in all respects. I recommend highly!

Once seated though things moved pretty fast. Our waiter Noah T was very attentive, answered our questions and we were off and running. We chose a couple of appetizers; a bowl of Chowder (only because of the raves from fellow Yelpers) and the Athenian Bruschetta. Both were very good but my expectant bubble was burst as it wasn't "the best I have had" as many of the Yelpers had described it. The Athenian Bruschetta though was A-amazing. For Entree I had the stuffed Flounder and Norma had Shrimp and Scallop Scampi. Both were very delicious. Atmosphere was nice, a bit crowded, as you would expect where the food is really good. Tables were tight. Hard to navigate with Norma's wheelchair, but we made it through. Large helpings, took tomorrow's lunch back to the hotel. A definite come back to place.

The vibe is fairly casual. Fairly affordable prices. I am a tough critic on seafood because I grew up on the coast eating fresh seafood, so others may have differing opinions. I had high expectations as a result of the reviews. The chowder was the star for me and could be elevated to excellent with a little more seasoning (I added a lot of pepper which was enough to give it a kick and make it exceptionally tasty). The oysters were good. The crab cakes didn't have enough lump crab for my taste -- more cake than crab, if that makes sense. And the hushpuppies were a bit bland. My son enjoyed the mac which came in a large portion. Although we were just there for takeout, the employees were friendly and helpful.
