Jan 2025, for those who loved Wing Wah - The owners have changed! Don't let the person answering the phone lie to you. After placing a couple of orders and asking if it's under new ownership, being told no and receiving food that doesn't taste remotely the same, I won't be ordering again from Wing Wah. If the new ownership didn't try to deceive the existing customer base by denying a change, I would have ordered with different expectation. The portions are smaller. The flavor is lacking and quite salty. The chicken portions are cut much smaller and not as silky or juicy. The General Taos chicken recipe isn't even the same anymore. Too much breading and tons of sauce, lacking in chicken and vegetables. The beef Cantonese chow mein is mostly celery with sliced carrots, slivers of beef and a very small container of Cantonese chow mein. The egg rolls used to be amazing. Now they're very hard to bite through, mostly the egg roll wrapper and cabbage. Not flavorful at all and not edible. The fried rice is missing the "wok hei" flavor that I enjoyed from the former owners. The fried rice portion is small, tastes as if it was just tossed in the wok with soy sauce, small portion of protein, and green onions. This is not fried rice, it's wok warmed rice. The egg foo yung is smaller with less shrimp. Extremely disappointing. As I've said, this isn't just a one off - we've tried ordering several times with disappointing results. Certainly it may not be close to being the best Asian restaurant in Arlington Heights. I won't wah about it. Wing Wah is one of the hardest restaurants to find if you haven't been there. Located in a crappy strip mall. The vegetarian choices are limited, as in just one item it seems. Atmosphere is boring. It's a pretty crummy old looking place to be honest. This is one of those places you order at the counter, and wait. Maybe look for a table, but you may often be the only one inside. Seems most people get takeout. It's about $6 for the cheapest entrees. That's crazy in these times. Came in to get something to go. I picked up the Garden Fresh Vegetable With Tofu. Another case of the tofu barely being cooked. There was also not much of a sauce on it, just the tofu and vegetables to be honest. Get what you pay for. It's cheap so it has that. There's like maybe one item for vegetarians. read more

Wing Wah is closed! But... Looks like this place went through another ownership change and full rebrand. The interior has been redone and feels much cozier now. It's now called Zen & Zea (or Zenzea?). They're serving Thai food, but mentioned they've kept a few Wing Wah dishes around for longtime customers. The cashier was incredibly friendly and helped us navigate ordering on a large tablet. The outside sign still says Wing Wah, so it's a little confusing at first. We ordered an old favorite my kid loves -- "Junk Fried Rice" -- along with egg rolls and Thai red curry. One thing to note: the menu uses AI-generated photos (complete with a Gemini logo), so don't rely too much on the pictures. That said, the cashier even asked us to call after dinner to share how everything was, which was a nice touch. The food itself was solid. The fried rice was especially well done, the curry wasn't very spicy but had good flavor, and the egg rolls were noticeably improved from the old version. Overall, a great first impression. Been ordering lunch here on the go quite some time and finally got around to putting up a review from a pick up lunch from last week I like coming here because the portions are super generous and pricing is fair. It is located in a strip mall with shared parking, which is usually easy to find. We order the Singapore Noodles shrimp toast, as well as the sesame chicken this time around. Although these are typically Americanize Chinese food, I will say sometimes I do have this type of craving and they do it well. I will definitely come back again and order food and it's also helpful that the owners are Chinese so I know there's a little bit of authenticity involved in what they are making. There are lots of pick up counter, Chinese restaurants here in the Arlington Heights area so there's a lot of competition. But they definitely have lots of good flavors and taste. read more

The best Egg Foo Young and Egg rolls on this side of the Pacific. Since I discovered Wing Wah, there is no other Cantonese food I'm interested in unless I'm traveling to where the food originated. I've grown up eating all kinds of cuisine that tries to be like this and fails or is simply "ok" which is not satisfying. Why waste your money on just "ok" when you can have an exponentially great meal? They may not have a huge dinning area but they do offer in-house service. I honestly prefer eating there. I love the way the restaurant looks from the inside with how they decorated it. The service is always the friendliest, the food always comes piping hot out of the kitchen, and honestly it speaks for itself. The to-go has been mastered as well if your more interested in take out, and the overall experience here is a *MUST TRY* if you're in the neighborhood and haven't tried it already. read more

The food was delicious but its not the same when you have to order "Not what you have taste for" :/ I don't like paying for something I didn't want. Now I have to look for another place that is fresh, not greasy and has the dishes I like. I don't want to pay almost $70 bucks when I am not even getting what I like. This was the second time we tried Wing Wah in Arlington Heights. The first time was a couple years ago and my wifes Egg Foo Young was burnt. I had to convince her to try this place again, as anyone can have an "off night". We ordered a couple of appetizers and three entrees. The apps were good (Pot Stickers and Egg Rolls), and the General Tao's Chicken was great... but... the Chicken Egg Foo Young was completely raw on the inside (the egg yolk and white where totally uncooked, as were the other ingredients). The chicken inside the were also cold. The Mongolian beef was supposed to be over pan fried noodles, but there was none to be found. I thought they might be in a separate container, but no. The actual Mongolian beef was cold, it must have been taken straight from the refrigerator and put in the takeout container just before giving it to me. I called the woman who took our order and told her my issues with the food we received. She offered to give us the same dishes for free the next time we came there. I told her no thanks, we won't be coming back. Two strikes and your out. The EFY went straight into the garbage, since no one wants to get sick just before Christmas. read more

Let me say that I've had my recommendations for this place from a trusted customer. I've never had what I'd consider anything that I'd rave about but here are a few things you should know: 1. Dishes are good sized. 2. Egg rolls are not what you'd call an egg roll. They are spring rolls. While not bad as those go, they are far from a good egg roll that several other Chinese places in the area serve. When I ordered egg rolls, I wanted them, not spring rolls. That gets a deduction of half a star. 3. Mongolian beef was plentiful and a bit spicy without overdoing it. Nice amount of onions. 4. Chicken with broccoli was fully loaded with chicken but a bit gummy. Not dry. We ordered with no msg and low oil so I assume the dish was not the regular way. Can't fault a place for major customer modifications. 5 chicken egg foo young was nice sized but lacked the flavors I wanted to taste. Overall it was a C in my opinion. The ambiance is that of a carry out place for the most part. Nice people. Plenty of hand sanitizer. I think they should have offered contactless pick up. That was a big no no. read more

Hidden in one of the most annoying strip malls to get in and out of is one of my favorite hometown restaurants. I've been eating Wing Wah since they had a booth at the Fourth of July festival over 10 years ago and I still go back. Their crab rangoons are the creamiest, most perfect rangoons. Their egg rolls are delicious and the hot mustard sauce they give with hits better than any other hot mustard sauce I've had. My favorite entrée to order is the Kung Pao Chicken. It's spicy but not overwhelmingly so with a decent ratio of chicken and vegetables so you're perfectly satisfied. I also enjoy the Mongolian Beef and the Orange Chicken. The Mongolian Beef is spicy and saucy and delicious. And the orange chicken is very orangey - it's usually served with orange slices on it. Definitely recommend them if you're looking for some Chinese food and you're in the area. It's more of a takeout place but they do have places to eat inside. read more

I am traumatized. We went in to eat in and that was our first mistake. The table was sticky. The panels around the booths had little black droppings on the tops of them. The server was very sweet but she kept on touching the bottom of her nose, above her lip. I was afraid to get water. My boyfriend said his food tasted bad. We've carried in twice from here. The portions are huge. We ordered the egg rolls twice. The first time they were really good, crispy on the outside and you could taste the freshness on the inside. The second time the egg rolls were mushy on the inside. I don't know a if they're made in large batches or what. The beef chow fun was tasty but the noodles were not browned, next time I will ask for crispy noodles. The Mongolian beef was good but a bit oily. The chicken kow was good. The kung boa chicken was also good but oily. The vegetables on all the dishes were fresh. The man working the front was nice and made suggestions for future orders. I ordered over the telephone. I was told the price was $15.90 for a shrimp order. Then the lady said it would be $1.00 less if I paid by cash. I get to the store and paid with cash. My change was $4.10. I was upset because the price I was quoted was $15.90 .and save $1.00 if paid by cash--to me, that means my total would be $14.90. They're a LOT more in depth, and they're consistent in saying the following: This place serves some phenomenal Chinese food. I neglected to get pictures of the food, but I'll talk about it! We got the Mongolian Deluxe (without shrimp) and the Beef Cantonese Chow Mein. Both were gigantic portions that were also incredibly delicious. The noodles and meats are cooked PERFECTLY, and the food is seasoned just right! If you want your food spicy, ask for the food to be extra spicy! It's incredible! I wish I could give this place six stars for being so delicious. The portions and quality are incredible for the price. I'd pay twice as much for it and still be satisfied with both the portion and the quality. Do yourself a favor and try this Cantonese restaurant. read more

My go to chinese take out food is beef with broccoli. I always order it every time we buy chinese food. Naturally, ordered it the first time we tried Wing Wag. Unfortunately, it didn't taste good to my liking BUT we also ordered other items that came out amazing like Kung Pao Beef, Cashew Beef and Mongolian Beef. The best for us is the Kung Pao Beef! Always the same taste when we order it and they don't skimp on the Beef. I would rate this a solid 5 if they have a better recipe for my Beef with Broccoli. read more

For years we have been getting carry-out from this place and we've eaten inside the restaurant a few times too. Carry-out is quick and convenient and there is never a wait for a table if you want to eat in. The reason we've continued to patronize this place is because the food has been consistently good. But tonight when I stopped in for carry-out some things had changed. The faces behind the counter were different. I asked, and found out 3 weeks ago it changed ownership. The great news is, their food went from good to even better! Lunch prices are much better than the dinner prices since they come with fried rice and an egg roll or crab rangoon. You can switch to shrimp fried rice for a little extra. Kids like the egg drop soup and the sweet and sour chicken and shrimp fried rice, though I think it's a bit too white still. We explore the menu. The orange chicken is REALLY orange-y. The dry beef.. chow fun I think it's called (there's a picture on the menu) is good. The worst part is they don't deliver. The service was rude both when I called ahead of time for an order and when I came in. I didn't place an order because of how rude the man was when I called. I gave it a second chance because of how close my job was to this place, BUT, service was the same. Rude. The man that greeted me was upset that I came into his restaurant when it was empty at 2pm. He told me I could not dine in even though there were clean open tables. Then he was upset when I asked for accommodations (shrimp in the rice), even though I was willing to pay for whatever extra cost.. The ambiance was EMPTY. The food was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. The rice barely had any soy sauce. It was white and the tips were slightly brown and the rice had a massive amount of egg. The beef broccoli was disgusting. Mostly cold after telling me that the food would take 15 to 20 minutes and was given my order in less than 5. I don't doubt it was microwaved for how quickly he tried to give me the food after I walked in 6 minutes prior. I was nice and professional.
