    Sushi Combo A. Delicious!
    Jen J.

Today's lunch is Sushi Combo A. I ate a couple pieces before the picture. It's very good. My husband and I eat here often. Our normal order is The Lady Gaga roll (me), spicy octopus salad (me) and my husband gets the steamed pork dumplings and the shaggy dog. We love Akashi. The staff is wonderful and we love the sushi. So thankful they are in our neighborhood because it's the only restaurant in this area that I feel is worth the cost. The sushi is always delicious. They get it right every time and this combo that I got today is delicious and fresh. More than can I eat, for sure!

came for a birthday dinner for my brother. Didn't realize Akashi was a chain before we almost ended up a random location. We tried a little bit of everything from orange chicken, to various rolls and salad. We did all enjoy the lychee sake and would recommend. Overall a time was a had & this is a great place for family dinners.

It's a chain. But it's a good one. Consistently good food and their lunch specials are a bargain with entree, soup and an egg roll all thrown in. Today's dining room was full at a little after one and the two women servers killed it. My food, drinks, refills and check all hit the table with amazing efficiency and effectiveness. The ladies were knowledgeable and polite and made for a great meal.

This sushi was great! I try to be vegetarian when I can and they have a great vegetarian sushi plate! My husband got the Louisiana and lady Gaga rolls. Don't tell anyone but tasted both and the Louisiana roll was to die for! We got veggie tempura for appetizer and they were good. And of course my vegetarian sushi was awesome! Will definitely be back! And to make a sushi better the service was great!

I was a bit overwhelmed with their massive menu. Chinese dishes on one side of menu; Japanese dishes on other side. Sushi was nothing impressive. Shrimp tempura batter isn't normal tempura batter. Cucumber salad or Sunomon was overly sweet. Hamachi Kama wasn't fresh, tasted fishy, over cooked, probably frozen. Crab rangoons, or crab puffs as the menu calls it, aren't good. Hot and sour soup was meh. Staff was very nice. I wouldn't return to eat here.

We had the Cbop Chope, a California Roll, Cowboy Roll, and the Pacific Lobster Roll. They were created with tons of ingredients. So full I can't move. Until next time!

To go order of Pacific lobster roll. Small bit of lobster with very crunchy exterior

Over priced for the quality. It was not bad, but it definitely has room for improvement.

I genuinely wanted to give this place five stars, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing overall. When we first arrived, there was nobody at the front to greet or seat us, and we waited several minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Service started off decent enough, but once our food arrived, it felt like we were completely forgotten. Nobody checked on our table afterward, we never received water refills, and our server was essentially unavailable for the rest of the meal. We were also seated next to an extremely loud party that was yelling throughout dinner. We wanted to request another table because it was disrupting the experience, but our server never returned to our section, so we never had the opportunity to ask. For a restaurant that presents itself as high caliber, I was surprised that management allowed such a disruptive atmosphere to continue. As for the food, the BBQ Pork Buns and Siu Mai were both very good. The award-winning Beef Rendang was easily the highlight of the meal and the best dish we ordered. Unfortunately, the Mee Goreng and Malaysian Fried Rice were major disappointments. Both dishes had an unpleasant smell and lacked flavor or seasoning, making them very unappetizing. Another issue was finding a bug on our table during dinner. I understand things can happen, but combined with everything else, it added to an already frustrating experience. We even wanted additional napkins, but again, our server never came back to check on us. Eventually, we became so frustrated waiting for service that we got up and paid the bill ourselves. Ironically, that was the moment our server finally reappeared. To make matters worse, gratuity appeared to already be added to the bill, which honestly did not feel deserved given the level of service we received. Overall, the BBQ Pork Buns and Beef Rendang were the only parts of the experience that saved the meal for us. It's disappointing because the restaurant itself is beautifully designed and has a great ambiance, which made us even more excited to try it. Unfortunately, the poor service and inconsistent food quality overshadowed what could have been a much better dining experience.

The food was very good!…read more I was hesitant at first because some of the menu seemed to be fusion items. In a place like Houston, where you can get authentic Vietnamese food, this can be a luck draw if the fusion pays off. However, when I tried the food, it was a very flavorful and worth every cent I spent. Everything was very tasty. The wings were flavorful and crisp. It had a combination of crispy skin seasoned with a rich sauce. The meat was also moist. For a party of two, it was also very shareable because they gave six pieces -both drums and wings. I will say that you really gotta to get in there get your hands and face dirty though! (They did provide a hand wipe!) For the main dishes, the won tonic soup was very flavorful with sweet-and-sour elements with egg noodles that soaked up all this good flavor. The wontons inside were very standard. And the onion was added to provide some balance. Everything was very hardy and filling. My friend had gotten the vermicelli. Which came with crunchy egg rolls, shredded veggies, noodles, and shrimp topped with a fish sauce. It felt very light and refreshing with a balance of textures and savory elements'. Highly recommend as the number one and two selling dishes - it would just depend on if you're in a soup or dry noodle sort of mood. Service was overall fast and friendly. You have to pay by going to the counter. We had a newer waiter though, and it took him a long time to get our orders correctly and he had to get some help. Hopefully they're doing well, but overall, it's a very cute Homie little establishment. Seating fits around 30 around booths and tables.

On top of that,…read morethe noodles are definitely Northern Chinese style, which consists of rich earthy broths accompanied by hand-pulled noodles and your choice of meats. Dumplings are also a must when eating this style of food. The establishment is very new as they just had their grand opening. There is a very athletic man behind a glass window in the kitchen that will be rolling the dough and forming the noodles with your very eyes. Oddly enough, this makes the noodles taste better. Again, the noodles are freshly made to order and you can see them making it too. You can tell by the mismatched size noodles in your order. The dumplings will have a thicker skin than you might be familiar with. That is because Northern-style dumplings are formed with much thicker doughs. Rest assured, this will have no impact on the rich flavors of the stuffing! The table will also have their homemade chili oil. It is not that spicy but it will greatly enhance every dish you order if you dare. Overall a positive experience here for the price. You also save a bunch of gas money not driving to Bellaire ha ah ha ha.
