We visited this location for a birthday dinner. We did teppenyaki and got steak, salmon, and chicken dinners, along with a Shogun roll and a yellowtail hand roll. I got green tea for a beverage. Finished with a mango sorbet and a mud pie. The meal started with salad with ginger dressing and onion soup. The dressing was fine, and I prefer onion soup to miso, so we were off to a decent start. The teppenyaki show was pretty basic, some fun stuff but not particularly advanced. Shogun's teppenyaki is all seasoned mainly with teriyaki sauce. All of our food was a bit overdone, not a lot but enough to notice. Vegetables were fine. We got the fried rice, which is more fun since it's prepared in front of us, but it was just fried rice and eggs and ended up very sticky. I didn't eat much of mine. The yellowtail roll was ok, the flavor did not jump out but it was good with soy sauce. The sushi was also just OK, the flavors kind of run together. Not a lot of crunch for a crunchy roll. We got our shrimp appetizer last because one of our party had a seafood allergy and they do the shrimp separately if you ask, which is good. The shrimp were prepared just right. The mango sorbet was probably the best thing about the meal. The sorbet is tasty and it's served attractively in a halved mango. I can recommend that. The mud pie is a purchased frozen dessert but it was good. Service was fine, the server was attentive and helpful and the chef did his bit competently. The overall impression I got about the place is that it's tired. The decor is very simple and hasn't been updated in awhile--everthing is brown. The wallpaper was installed some time ago with obvious seams. It is showing wear in several places. The bathroom was reasonably clean but the urinal had flushing difficulty. What the place needs is a makeover, from the decor to the menu to the teppenyaki presentation. It's acceptable but I've had better teppenyaki in several places. read more

The hostess was not friendly (barely gave us a glance as we were robotically led to our seats), our server was forgetful and inattentive (we had to repeatedly ask for things and remind him that we were missing dishes/drinks)... but our teppanyaki chef delivered. The whole family enjoyed our interaction at the teppanyaki table. It was a show of skillful cooking, and the chef provided a bit of comedy relief too. Very glad we decided to sit there. It made all the difference! Food was yummy. The steak and shrimp were cooked perfectly on the griddle, and the fried rice & yakisoba noodles tasted fresh and flavorful. The sushi was also good; nothing remarkable (in comparison to other establishments with a similar menu), but the rolls were tasty & had nice presentation. The whole family enjoyed the meal, including the kiddos. Some highs & lows (with room for improvement specifically in areas of customer service).... but we would probably give them another try. read more

We have gone to Shogun multiple times over the past year and it has progressively gone downhill and not just service which was always average at best but also with the Teppanyaki Chefs and food quality. To start the server looked like he was hired "off the streets" and not presentable. Whatever happened to smiling and having a clean appearance. Additionally the drink orders were inconsistently served and we had to ask for items a few times and the "show" hadn't even started. The our chef arrives and I have my 4 grandchildren there and when you bring them you are expecting a bit of a show but our highlight was the "burned face" beginning but failing miserably on the "rice toss" and the disastrous "chop chop train" onion. Has any of the staff been trained? Maybe other tables but ours was pathetic. Sorry guys but facts are facts and even our grandkids don't want to go back!! Food quality was horrid and my salmon wasn't even cooked and I don't believe it is "sushi" grade salmon so I left it for the scrap heap which is where I'm also putting Shogun on my list for future visits. We used to come here bi monthly and it was great. Recently we've noticed a decline in food and service. This week I called and booked a birthday dinner for my 4 year old. He was so excited for all the rice throwing and usual show things they do. Our chef literally did nothing! Not even acknowledging his birthday. It was the saddest thing my 4 year old was so sad even when I was tucking him in he said they didn't sing happy birthday to me like they did the other table. We've been going here quite frequently. Tonight we ordered to go with a half chicken half shrimp. When we got home, there were six shrimp. Bear in mind that you get two as an appetizer with every meal anyway. And for this they charge 1395 for the shrimp proportion. We made a reservation at a different Shogun location but one part of our group used GPS and went to wrong location....lol But it worked out great as the staff at this location was very nice and still seated the group without a reservation even though the party was not complete so when I showed up approx 15-20 mins later they were already eating and ready for me.. The food was excellently prepared and the chef was fun and we had nice conversations. The wait staff was the best we've had in any resturant for several years. The resturant was a nice place to just sit, talk, and enjoy a family birth day experience. The beverages were filled all the time (including my hot tea). My experience today was not great! I had boughten a pizza to bring home from another place, but had dinner with my family there. The food was good as always because I'm a usual customer. 5 minutes after I left the place I realized I left my pizza there so I went back to get it. The staff told me they had already thrown it awa. I asked them several times to please go and check if the pizza was in the trash but they refused now saying they had never seen the pizza. Anywas they didn't compensate for throwing the pizza, not expecting it, but it's really sad that I took 5 minutes to go back and the pizza was gone. Not a great experience today. read more

The honeymoon gave an initially muted spice, balanced by the cream cheese and crab, but left a pleasant buzz of heat after. The true star of the dinner was the side of chicken fried rice! The chicken was juicy, and the fried rice is a great consistency. Very creative place! The sushi and meat is very good and they have many different options. This is a restaurant where the servers come and put up a show for you making the meat and rice live. The people are all very nice but they're a little bit absent and it's hard to get ahold of the waiters. This is a very cool spot to come with friends or family though. The show people are also nice and make many funny jokes. Would recommend coming here but the food didn't really fill me up so make sure you order a little more than you expect. read more

Went there around Homecoming time on a Saturday evening. My husband and I were waiting for my younger daughter, who was having ice cream nearby with friends. We had our little dog on a leash with us and spontaneously decided to grab some dinner while waiting. We saw some outdoor seating at Shogun, so we asked if it was ok if we ate out there with our dog. They were kind enough to oblige. Despite it being very busy with Homecoming crowds of teenagers, the service was quite prompt and courteous. Someone from the staff (? Maybe owner or manager) even brought out a little paper bowl for us to pour water in for our puppy. Food was very good. We enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back! read more

I eat at several of these in different locations and they are normally consistent in food grade and layout. Unfortunately, this location was lacking in cleanliness, and service. There were wait staff who were asleep in booths, the hibachi grills were covered in dripping goo that was coming from their vent hoods, and the menu was inaccurate. When you list something as crab meat and it turns out that it is imitation crab this is a problem. When you list something as no seaweed paper and then it actually has seaweed paper in it this is a problem. The Shogun roll is not as it is listed on the menu. It does indeed include seaweed paper, it also has imitation crab meat not crab meat. For these reasons I am giving this location three stars. read more

I have been going to this place with my family since they opened. Always on weekend for lunch. always used the lunch menu teppanyaki steak that is around $16, i considered a good value. Went yesterday and found out you cannot order that any longer, and have to pay full dinner price. somewhere around $29 for the same meal. they add 2 shrimp that we didn't want. Not bad at all! Went for the first time today (Mother's Day) and was surprised it wasn't packed. We were seated very quickly. Between all of us, we ordered Teriyaki Steak with white and fried rice and spring rolls. The meals come with salad, soup, and shrimps; which they added to the main meal. Everything was perfectly cooked, seasoned and with great taste. Additionally we ordered a Mississippi mud pie for desert as well as an espresso cake. To our surprise, they were both ice cream cakes. Double score! Great atmosphere, friendly staff. The bathrooms were a bit of a mess, but considering the busy day, probably something easy to neglect. My husband was invented with the place. This is absolutely the worst sushi I've ever had. Too much rice. Over cooked rice at that! The ratio of filling to rice is WAY out of whack too. Just check out the pictures I posted! Secondly, their online menu is incorrect in regards to the Triple Tuna roll. The menu says snow crab, but I was clearly served imitation krab. I can't STAND when places LIE on the menu! I paid almost $15! Please give customers what they pay for! The seasoning on the rice is too heavy, very very vinegary. I decided to at least try a bite... much to my regret. Two of the rolls I ordered tasted like old fish. Maybe that's why they over-vinegared their rice, to hide the spoilage. I didn't risk it, they went in the trash. Total disappointment! Totally inedible! I ordered through a popular app. Now, I've had mediocre food before, but this food being SO BAD, I'm actually asking for a refund. Really disappointed. We often celebrate special occasions here and tonight we celebrated my Daughters 8th Birthday. This evening we were shown to our Hibachi table and the table was covered in the last guests old rice and my silverware still had previously eaten rice stuck between the fork spikes. Both these items were rectified after requesting the table be cleaned and replacement silverware given. But ugh it's not the right time for cleanliness complaints. Our server then asked if we were ready to order....we were still waiting on menus at this point. She looked surprised but brought us menus. Hibachi chef was great, he made the night for us and we all relaxed and enjoyed our time and meal with him. He made a big deal of our birthday girl. Our server then came immediately after he left the table and asked us if we were ready for our check. 'Yes sure' of course - we didn't want desert to celebrate a birthday with desert ! What ever happened to asking if we would like desert! Added 18% gratuity on check !! - We would have tipped more cause our Hibachi chef was great!! Bad management decision on that added tip for 2 adults and 3 kids! Disappointing for sure - Monday night during a pandemic and not even an apology that I was given a fork with the last persons chewed rice still on it and a table full of left over rice! That having been said the menu is huge and offers everything from appetizers, an extensive sushi selection and even bento box meals. They also offer beer, wine and sake. My lunch consisted of a classic teppanyaki dinner combination where you choose 2 proteins. I choose steak and calamari. I was also given 2 grilled shrimp for free. All dinners are also served with grilled vegetables, steamed rice and onion soup and house salad. Dependable sushi with a very extensive menu. More Americanized rolls than traditional but solid. The torpedo role was very delicious with a shredded fried potato on the outside.
