It is our first time to try this nail salon in Santa Barbara. We drove from LA to visit my husband in SB, thus, we were not able to make any nail appointments. Upon researching in Yelp, I stumbled upon this place and gave them a call to check if they could accomodate me and my daughter. We were glad to give this place a try. Amy did the acrylics of my daughter and she was pleased with the result. For me, I also had my eyebrows waxed by Be. Customer service is good and prices are reasonable!

I never like to admit that my sister is right. Never. But after her and I had both been to several nail salons in Santa Barbara and Goleta separately, she kept telling me that I needed to visit Minh Ly's for my next mani-pedi because they are simply the best for the price. Sure enough, I was well overdue for some self care with my cuticles beyond repair. My sister made us an appointment together. Sadly due to work I was running 20 minutes behind and I told them over the phone that if they need to move to their next customer appointment that I can reschedule. They simply said to take my time! I arrived all stressed and sweating, yet Me hong (Amy) and Huong (Bee) reassured me that all is well. After I had calmed down, the sweet Vietnamese gals of countless years of nail experience took amazing care of my sister's and my nails. We sadly suffer from horrible ingrown nails in our toes, yet they were sure to dig them out and clean up our feet to a brand new condition. The pedicure consisted of a foot bath, nail and cuticle trim, callus pumicing, a scrub, massage, and painting or buffing. Then they continued with the same services but on our hands. I left extremely pleased with the friendliness, care to attention, their ability to carry on a conversation, and patience with my late arrival. I will definitely be reaching out soon for another nail appointment--especially at $50 for a mani-pedi.

I just had the most amazing experience at Minhly's Nails. The ladies were so incredibly sweet and B (name of nail technician) did an excellent job on my nails. I went in today to get a gel manicure and pedicure. It was the BEST one I have ever received. B took her time and was very thorough. I get very bad ingrowns on my toe nails and they become very painful if not dealt with. She knew exactly how to cut the nails to relieve the pain. Others have just cut the big toes but she did all of them. I was shocked how much she focused on them to help me. The foot massage she gave me was also amazing and she did it for a decent amount of time. For the price and the service I received today, I will recommend this nail salon to everyone I know. I do advise making an appointment because the staff is small but they do a miraculous job!!!

The workers are so nice and friendly! They definitely know how to converse without being awkward. Although the it is a little more expensive than what I'm used to back home, it's one of the cheapest nail shops near UCSB. I would highly recommend this place if you live in the area and in need of a a little pampering. read more

I got a pedicure here. I was not impressed at all. It was $29.75, which seems very expensive for a below average pedicure. The top coat looks lumpy. The paint doesn't go to the edge. A couple nails weren't filed properly and feel jagged. I was surprised because this place has so many good reviews. read more

Probably my favorite place to get my nails done ever! Minh is such a nice owner who really makes sure his customers are absolutely satisfied with their service! I had the privilege of getting my nails personally done by him, and he was really a perfectionist! I've never had anyone take such a long time shaping and filing my nails (acrylics), but it was definitely worth it at the end because I was really pleased with how my nails turned out for only $30! This is definitely the best place to get your nails done in SB. read more

I came here before and they did an okay job came back to give them another try and the gel manicure was HORRIBLE. The owner did it and I'm really surprised there's a hair under my polish as you can see in the photo and the polish job was rushed. Took twenty mins to do my gel manicure. read more

Enjoyed my experience at Minhly's! While $27 for a pedicure did seem a bit steep, I was happy with the service. I tend to have bad experiences with the poking and prodding of my nails, but Francis did a great job and only went a little too far on one of my nail cuticles. Besides that, the rest of the time went well! The salon seemed very clean, simple, and the staff were friendly. I plan on returning for a gel manicure this month. read more

Tried this nail salon for the first time based upon other Yelp reviews, and it did not disappoint! The owner was the nail technician who worked on my nails and he was very friendly and accommodating! And another nail technician who also worked on my nails was very detailed and meticulous with the nail art/design I wanted. The prices were also super reasonable! $30 for a gel manicure; an additional $10 for the design I wanted (which was intricate, so I was shocked at how good a price they were charging). Would absolutely go back for the friendliness factor and the service. read more

I had a TERRIBLE experience here. For lack of a better word my acrylic fill looked like shit. My fingers were stuck to the acrylic on the back side and also has goupy acrylic all over my nail bed. I asked for black - and he put on some weird dark blue. No friendly conversation. Did not file/driemel under my nails. No massage and he seemed very annoyed I asked him to fix it (I was getting a pedi after and could not believe how awful they looked). Super sloppy. Even after attempting to fix them they still looked amateur at best. read more

I came in over my lunch to get old gels removed and new ones applied. Although my nail tech was very nice, the gel application was not. The gel is pooled up around my nail bed and the shape of my nails isn't consistent. The pooling at the edges means they'll lift in just a couple of days :( not the reason I get gels! I said I wanted them short but he assumed I wanted oval so they did need to be refiled...not sure if that's why 3 of my nails had the corner (just one side of one hand) chopped off. I've had gels done at different places so I know they can and should look better! Pictures attached for reference. I won't be going back...very surprised by the good reviews! read more

Great work but terrible customer service. On two or three occasions, I've been made feel terrible for changing my mind re desired color. Both incidents or three, the time at which I changed my mind was appropriate, still at preparing phase not at end of work. It's unfortunate to have this experience reoccur because I have been a long time ( 10 years or more) customer, however it's important they know their customer service and unnecessary frustration over someone changing their mind about nail color is truly OK and no need to lash out in their language amongst each other. I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I showed a picture of the nails I wanted to Minh and he made mine exactly like the picture! I am very pleased with the result and Minh was super nice and complimented my natural nails and told me I should be a hand model! This place was recommended by a friend. I went Saturday for a pedicure and it was great. I felt relaxed and she really took her time on them. I came back today (Wednesday) to have my acrylics soaked off and a new set applied. First off, I was kinda dreading the removal... but Minh (the owner) did this magical heated acetone trick that took them off with NO PAIN and it was so fast. He then did a completely new set in the EXACT style I wanted, checking with me throughout the entire process. End result? I have super thin natural looking almond shaped nails that are the best I have had in ages. Not to mention, Minh and all the ladies in the shop are very sweet and kind. My sister and I went looking for a good salon for acrylics while we were back home, and came across Minh Lys. We had a great experience start to finish! Minh did perfect acrylics for my sister and tailored them to exactly what she wanted. She got dark red short rounded acrylics. The woman who did my gels (whose name I cannot remember) was so sweet. We talked about her daughter at UCSC, fiesta, Thai desert recipes, and she was generally nice and relaxing to chat with. She paid extra attention to cleaning up my dry cuticles and shaping my scraggly nails into uniform shape. While we were there, their fruit vendor came by and delivered some beautiful mangoes which was definitely one of the more interesting experiences I've had in a nail salon, but we actually ended up buying a 7$ flat of delicious mangoes! Everyone was nice and accommodating and very laid back, not to mention their prices are excellent. I would definitely go back again for high quality gels, and if I were getting acrylics. read more

Loved this nail salon! I've never gotten my nails done in the Santa Barbara area before, so I decided to check out Minh Ly's because it had pretty good yelp reviews. The salon isn't fancy or anything, but the employees are all really nice. They really made me feel welcome! Minh did my nails, which was just a fill. He was great! He made suggestions, and fixed the shape of my nails so they looked more natural! (They were pretty thick, so he shaved them down). He also gave me color suggestions for next time! The total came to be $23 with the fill, reshaping, and the little design I got. I will definitely be going back! :) read more

I had my nails done by Minh and it is the worst gel manicure I've ever had. Firstly, they couldn't remove all of my previous gel so they left it on my nails after soaking my hands in a bowl of acetone multiple times. You can actually see my previous gel under my new manicure. Secondly, Minh filed my nails unevenly and when applying the gel did not go all the way down my nail. In fact, he was practically skipping the entire bottom half. After I asked him to go all the way down, I did not get a response. Although he did begin to color my FULL nail, you can see a noticeable difference because the first coat had already set. Minh also was brushing my nails as if he was taking something off not applying a color. I left with so much gel on my skin that I had to go to another salon and get my nails properly filed. I don't know if he was in a mood or what, but the only time I got a smile or emotion from him was when he was I was giving him money. Disturbing. I now have uneven nails, uneven coats, and and will never be returning. By far the worst $40 I've ever spent. read more

Minhly is the kindest nail technician I've ever encountered. I'm originally from LA , a city where almost every girl has acrylic nails. Moving to SB it has been a struggle finding a place that can do some good nails but I've FINALLY found it. It's not the most beautiful place but that's not important at the end of the day. They truly do cater to your needs and wants and provide great customer service. He is a perfectionist and won't let you leave until you are happy with the way your nails look. Best part about it is he doesn't fuss or argue with you when you ask him to redo something. Truly such an awesome guy. This is by far the best place in Santa Barbara to get your acrylic nails done! Ask for the owner, he is the master of shaping nails, you can show him a picture of what you want or just explain it and he gets it perfect every time. I have really weirdly shaped fingers due to breaking them in sports when I was younger, and he shaped my nails perfectly which is always a challenge. I wouldn't recommend my anyone to go anywhere else, and at only $35 this is a phenomenal deal read more

Minh did my nails today. I love how he is so detailed and made sure you liked the shape and how it looks. I did acrylics, which I normally don't do, but I was going to a party this weekend and was too lazy to do my own nails so I said why not. Last year I decided to get acrylic nails for the first time. I was nervous and they were great with me. explaining how it would go. I've been back every 2-3 weeks for a fill. It's always clean everyone is friendly. And everyone working there is as outgoing as the customers. If people are mute then so are the employees. If people are open and talking, so are the employees. I also find them easy to schedule/reschedule. I'm very busy and I often call and say, "Can I come now?" and that really works for me. I would recommend this place. they also have spa massage chairs for those who like the added luxury. read more

I had a gel x set and he did it in a way that didn't damage my natural nail and was really gentle with the removal. He was really fast as well. He kept checking in with me to see if he was applying to much pressure, which he didn't! I asked for a nude gel mani, which he provided as well. The color he chose was one of the best choices, usually the nudes have too much of a pink undertone, but this one was a great choice. I was in and out in under an hour for both services. Both the owner and Henry were really sweet and professional!

Disappointing Service Despite Good Work - Will Not Return I…read morerecently visited ocean nails hoping for a relaxing pampering session, but unfortunately, the customer service I received was incredibly disheartening from the moment I walked in. I asked for an acrylic set for my toes and a pedicure, a service I routinely enjoy and am fully aware of the cost for. Upon arrival, I was met with rudeness and questioned about my choice of service, with the nail technician repeatedly asking if I was "sure" because it was "a lot of money." This was incredibly off-putting and made me feel judged, as if they assumed I couldn't afford a service I genuinely enjoy and habitually get. It wasn't until I was on the phone with my boyfriend, expressing my frustration about being treated as though I couldn't pay, that their attitude subtly shifted. The pedicure felt rushed, and despite my interest in adding on premium services, none were offered. I wanted to treat myself to more, but the initial unwelcoming vibe and the speed of the service made me feel like an inconvenience. While I can genuinely say the actual nail work was well done, the overall experience was severely overshadowed by the poor customer service and unprofessional treatment. It's a shame, because I would have been a returning client and would have gladly spent more on additional services if I had felt welcomed and respected. Given the unfortunate political affiliations displayed in the salon, combined with the poor treatment, I definitely will not be returning. There are plenty of other salons where customers are treated with dignity regardless of their chosen services or perceived spending limit.

Mind you two other nails from my previous…read moreset ( done by them) broke exactly the same way both sets done by the same technician Danny. I asked to speak with owner or manager to rectify the situation but they were " too busy " to speak to me . *** update I woke up this morning with another nail missing the same exact way. Mind you it's hasn't been 48 hours since I left the salon ..... this isn't user error this how it was put on my nail.

I had the worst manicure/ pedicure here - only because the young technician who is obviously a newbie and can't even understand "Can you clean my nails better" just rushed her work and wasn't even consistent doing my left vs right foot. Minh, the owner noticed my dissatisfaction and gave me BI (pronounced Bee) who was downright RUDE and would speak Vietnamese against me (not knowing I was an expat in Ho Chi Minh Vietnam - few years back). She also RUDELY required payment before finishing my nails and after swiping my card RUDELY threw it at my table and said "No money!" claiming my card was declined. (I used the same card in Ralph's and Lassens nearby and it was good!) Minh took over again and polished my nails. He was apologetic but friends say this should be reported! There's another senior lady who was obviously better at doing nails and at customer service as the the other client said she's been going to her for 20 years! I would know.. I owned my own nail salon for 5 years and I feel the difference in treatment as I was Asian. I guess I was soooooo unlucky being assigned to the young technician who was not good at all and a VERY RUDE BI!! I must say I wasted my money getting my nail service there today! read more
