!!BED BUGS!! !!RUDE HOST!! This place was terrible! Cleanliness was at a zero! I saw a couple reviews about bed bugs so of course I double checked! I FOUND SOME! (I even double checked with my parents!) My friend and I were supposed to stay for a weekend, but chose to stay elsewhere, for obvious reasons. When I confronted the owner explaining our situation he was confrontational and rude. He thrust his hand in my face holding the dead bed bug and saying I had a phobia. As a young 20 year old woman it was a scary and anxiety inducing situation all around. He originally refused to give us a refund. Later in our conversation he said he'd give a half refund if we canceled the rest of our stay. It was impossible to do that from our end, because it was past check in time. Expedia called him and he denied our refund fully at first. It took parents getting involved before he agreed to give a half refund. ITS BEEN OVER A WEEK AND STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN IT! This is a sweet little place at a great location and value. It is nothing fancy, but we didn't need anything fancy. The host is very nice, responsive, and accommodating. Parking could get rough on the street but we were there over the weekend when they don't ticket, so that was fine. Thank you for a nice stay. read more

Recently stayed here with my husband and my sister in law and her 2 daughters. First time at a bed and breakfast stayed here for 3 days 2 nights for universal studios horror night event. Parking wasn't the greatest and it's a very narrow neighborhood. Looks like one parking space was taken by the owner and the other is occupied by another guest or etc, so it's really a hit or miss. The floor we stayed on was mostly quiet looks like it was just us staying on that floor level. Was looking forward to breakfast but wasn't given a tour or schedule time for breakfast? Idk how a bed and breakfast works. Also wasn't a big fan knowing there was someone's chewed gum stuck to the bedside table, toilet wasn't cleaned properly. Tv didn't work. No offense but I wouldn't stay at a bed and breakfast again it's not for me. Also I couldn't locate the nearest shuttle literally wasted $60 and more for parking at universal studios. read more

We recently stayed in this hotel. If I could only leave "0" stars I will! This is the worse place we have ever stay in. No working AC, not enough towels in rooms. Very poor and rude communication, no real parking space. There is only a drive way for 2 cars and one space is occupied by the owner so there is really one space left and you have to move your car or wait for someone else to move their car when leaving. The owner of the place is horrible!!! Super rude, he was yelling at his maid all the time while we were having breakfast. When I said yelling I meant it. She has cero manners nor education. She is from a different ethnicity than us. there was another family at the same time eating breakfast which happens to be on the dinning room and the kitchen. This family of the same ethnicity as the owner was having the VIP treatment lol while been super nice to them she was taking away everything from our table and yelling at the poor lady that work for her to bring everything to the other table :/ We felt super uncomfortable staying here. If you want to know what is it to be discriminated because of the race this is the place to go! But also who wants to listened to someone yelling while on vacation??? come on!!! That been said we will never come back and we will advise everyone to not staying there!!! read more

I was on a road trip on CA Route 1. I have stayed in many places. This place was THE worst. And it is the worst 'hotel' experience in my lifetime. This is NOT a hotel. I don't know why it is listed as a hotel and I think it is one of the two reasons below: - the owner has no idea about the difference between hotels/motels/bnb - the owner is well aware of the difference but choose to scam tourists Bed: If you want to know how it feels like to sleep on bedsheets made of 100% polyester, this is THE place to go. FYI it feels like sleeping on a plastic bag. After you fall asleep for a while, you will feel that your skin burning from underneath, but the other side of your body which is not in contact with the bed is cool. You can flip yourself as if you are on a grill but it can help for a short period of time. And that explains why there are standing fans in the room. I guess you can turn the fans on to improve the ventilation while you toss and turn. Never in my life have I seen a hotel uses sheets made of 100% polyester! It must be very easy to maintain because it doesn't wrinkle or stain at all. Room: You can't control the AC inside the rooms. Like any common single family houses (or they call it a 'mansion'), it is on central AC. You can flip the vent cover to an angle you like. But that's it. Or you can talk to the owners who lives upstairs to turn down the temperature. I didn't feel it necessary because I was half cold and half cooked. And guess what, the duvet cover is made of 100% polyester too. There is no sound proofing done between floors and rooms. You can hear the other tenants and the owner easily. There's no need for alarm clock because you will hear substantial noise when others wake up. Sometimes the noise is so close that I was afraid they will just barge in. Breakfast: Another awkward experience. A lady named Lucy served the food under the stern commands of the owner. She doesn't look happy. Neither does the owner. The food they serve cycles between tenants. So if you are nice, try not to talk too much while you eat because the other tenants will share your salivas. Parking: There are only 2 parking slots on the driveway. Street parking is forbidden on certain days of a week. Bathroom: It looks filthy. Everything in there is functional but cheap, just like other parts of the 'mansion'. To sum up, this place is horrible. If you have not made your reservation, don't. If you did, set your expectations as low as you can and don't expect a hotel. If you expect a shared BNB with a bunch of strangers and the owners, and linens as comfortable as a motel, and limited/no parking space, you might be pleasantly surprised then. I recommend that you bring your own sheets or at least a bath towel so that you don't get grilled on their cheap linen! read more

I stayed here on December 15, just one night the owner was amazing they cooked breakfast for party of seven. There was variety of food. Unfortunately the two bedroom suite does have bedbugs. I did not noticed it until my 6 year old started scratching couple hours after I left. I understand the owner might say is something else. But if he says am lying I'll prove him wrong. I am extremely upset because bedbugs are extremely hard to eliminate and is could cost hundreds if we bring them back home. Luckily I saw it on time and I will be getting rid of the belongings we took to the room. There is one more review regarding bed bugs I should of believed it. As a precaution we took as little things as possible. . They need to take care of this problem ASAP. I was trying to save money by staying here. Right ear with bedbugs bites. This Bed & Breakfast is located in a large Hollywood Hills home. The family who lives there is friendly and accommodating. Not knowing what to expect from a B&B, we read reviews on several sites and realized most people simply did not read the information provided on their respective booking sites. Though it wasn't quite what we'd expected from a B&B, we were not disappointed. We were greeted by a friendly young lady who showed us around the house. Our room was clean and comfy with a TV, cable, and free wifi. Our bathroom appeared to be shared with another room but we were told not to worry about that (I think it was the son's room). The bathroom could've been a little tidier, but it wasn't bad. We took too long getting ready and missed breakfast. However, when we were leaving, the host offered us breakfast anyway (an hour and a half after it ended). The host and hostess both engaged us briefly during breakfast. They were both very friendly and genuinely wanted to ensure our comfort and were interested in our trip. It's tough to gauge how many stars to give since its our first B&B. It was a nice place to stay for a night or two and we'd go back. read more

This was our very first Bed & Breakfast and we had a wonderful stay! We were very skeptical but have wanted to try one & this was amazing and personable! Highly recommend:) Tirun & Amy Ghosh were great hosts. They were very accommodating with check in times. We were to arrive early & go to Universal and we were offered to bring our belongings there and drop them off so they didn't have to sit in the car. Breakfast was amazing & hearty. We were offered boiled eggs one day & scrambled another along with English muffins, toast, bagels, a variety flavor of yogurts, tater tots, self serve oatmeal packets, cereal, fruit, fresh berries! Beverages were coffee, orange juice, milk & water. Being a condiment queen they had it all except hot sauce. Jams, cream cheeses, ketchup, creamers, sugars. The room was an average size room where my family stayed. It was myself, husband & our 12 yr old daughter. We had a Queen bed & beside us a fold away, a little smaller than a twin, perfect for her 5'4" self. Our bathroom was attached to our room with no additional doors, meaning our room is considered a "suite" type bedroom in a home. The house is 3 or 4 levels I can't remember but there are stairs in this home, lots and lots of stairs! Our bedroom was on the top floor where there are a couple other rooms, including the host, although that doesn't change anything. Upon arrival Tirun gave us a little tour of our room & the dining area & family room. He also us a key to our bedroom so we could lock it & also a key to the house, with access at anytime. There are no times you have to be home. ( I wasn't sure how this worked since I had never been to a bed & breakfast) We were also offered a parking permit as there is a time when you can't park on the road if you don't have it & may be liable to being towed. If your a simple liver, as we are, this is for you... home away from home! Very comfortable! Literally no cons from us. Also very close to Universal Studios & Hollywood. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. I went with two friends and stayed in the garden suite. It is not a suite, it's a room with beds. I am not sure how this place has great stars and reviews on booking.com. The description of this place is misleading by far. The host is friendly and accommodating, but it does not override the dirtiness, musty smell, and uncomfortable beds. The sheets to the bedding did not look clean and the rug was filthy. The kitchen was also dirty. We did not feel clean staying here. Book at your own risk. For the price he charges, you expect for it to be clean and decent. read more

Where to begin...first things first, this is not a bed and breakfast which has been advertised on other booking sites. I gave this place one star as they did accommodate our late night arrival. This trip took place this last weekend prior to Easter. My husband and I got into town after a five hour drive around midnight and were brought to our room, as we walked up the stairs I noticed duct tape holding down tiles and dirty carpet but being tired, kept my mouth shut. Our room was small and I mentioned that our five year old would be staying with us and I was shown a trundle bed in the closet, where this bed was supposed to go was beyond me. We were then told the "maid" left us towels and would be back the next day, we were left one towel and two wash cloths for three people. Had we not gone right to bed we would have left that night, the next day we were able to fully take in our surroundings, the towels would not be needed as the bathtub/ shower were disgusting and covered in grime, possible black mold and soap scum everywhere. The toilet and floor had not been cleaned, and when my husband woke he had bites on his ankles and wrist, neither of us slept in the bed but on the comforter. Remember when I said this was not a bed and breakfast...as we left on our adventure for the day around 7:30, we were greeted by our host, in her pajamas just hanging out in her living room, there was no mention of an English breakfast or fruit or even a bottled water! Other fun facts, parking is on the street but then you have to move it into their driveway during certain hours and there are flights of stairs up to the front door so I don't know how this place is handicapped accessible. We did leave that following day and contacted the host and the booking site. Please don't waste your money here! read more

Although this is a Bed and Breakfast, it is listed as a Hotel on most booking sites. We booked a room for 08/10/2016. Location: Excellent. Cleanliness: AWFUL Customer Service: EXECRABLE Overall Experience: HORRIBLE (we were out of there in 15 minutes). Recommendation: I would be undecided if I had to recommend a hotel for my worst enemy and the only choices were this place and the BATES HOTEL (no joke, the bathroom door had a hole in it on the inside, as if someone banged it with a hammer; same thing for the inside of the room door). Below is the detailed experience, I sincerely apologize for the rant but I don't see any other way to warn the unaware (how much could have happened in 15 minutes, right?). We arrived at 4:15 pm (check in is between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm). The place is basically across the street from Universal Studios, under 2 minutes drive with traffic. We had to park on the street as the driveway was occupied by two cars. One lady just getting out of one of the cars in the driveway asked us if we had reservations for that place and led us inside. There was an extremely strong smell of burned milk as soon as we entered and the host proceeded to call very loudly: "Stephanie! Stephanie!". At that point a young lady appeared from a room on the first floor and a family of 3 came down the stairs from the second level. We stood in the living room, witnessing the following exchange between one of the guests and host: Guest: On the website we booked it said the hotel provides bottled water, we didn't get any. Host: We are not a hotel, we're a bed and breakfast and we provide bottled water. (young lady that came from the room on first floor is shaking hear head in negation) Guest: We asked her (points to the young lady) for bottled water but I don't think she speaks English. Host: Oh, we ran out of bottled water, we'll get some. Guest: The room is too small to accommodate the three of us, the booking said it sleeps three. At this moment the host turns to us and says she will take us to our room upstairs. As we go up, a young gentlemen (late teens-early twenties) comes out of a room, obviously just out of bed. And, yes, the host ushers us in saying that was our room. The bed was not even made! There was a deodorant cap on the bed and not only the bed was just slept on but the sheets were damp and dirty! A floor fan was going on full power and the smell in the room kind of made sense of the smell of burned milk downstairs: it smelled like someone just smoked pot in that room. The size of the room barely accommodates a queen bed, two nightstands and a dresser. The host told us she will give us a sleeping bag for our 7 year old son and left. I guess if you look at it that way, the room does sleep three!!! In the bathroom, another surprise. There were two doors. Another room had access to the bathroom but considering you could lock it from the inside I guess it's not fair to dispute the claim of private bathroom in the listing. However, there was pee on the toilet seat (not old dry urine traces, actual liquid drops!). A piece of used toilet paper was on the carpeted bathroom floor! There were two obviously used (one of them still damp) towels in the bathroom. Back in the room, the drawers of both night stands were full of personal objects of somebody, among which there were several bottles of prescription medicine. Easily accessible by a small child! We grabbed our belongings (thankfully it was just a backpack, the luggage was still in the car) and left the room in time to hear the host screaming "Leave my house and never come back!" and got downstairs in time to see her slamming the door after the other guests. We said we won't stay in those condition and asked for a refund. We were told: "I won't give you any refund, you need to leave my house right now or I call the police". We left and we DID call LAPD right away. We were advised to dispute the charges with the booking agent. We did it two days later when we returned home from our trip. Thumbs up to Orbitz, they refunded our money after what I assume was a short (about two hours hold on the phone) investigation. According to the first person we spoke to at Orbitz, Tarun (the host at the horrible place) already invoiced them and claimed that we did spend the night there. For those who wonder, we were able to book another hotel on short notice (pretty unbelievable for LA, but hey, the proof of this new booking and the record of the call to the police is what got us the refund from Orbitz!) and the rest of the trip was wonderful. We booked our rooms here at the mini mansion on Orbitz. When we arrived, the host greeted us with a friendly smile and showed us to our rooms with a bathroom (unshared). The rooms were clean and the beds were super comfortable. Note: the layout of this nice home is a Bed and Breakfast and not a stand alone hotel. The hosts served up a delicious spread for breakfast including fresh fruit, bagels, eggs, sausage and cereal. All in all, they were kind and accomodating and very pleasant. The only issue I would like to clarify is there are many steps to the front door. The host was accommodating and allowed us to come through the garage, however, if you arent capable of climbing steps, this isnt the place for you. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality! It was a relatively inexpensive place (comparable to places in the area) complete with breakfast and close to all the local attractions. read more

My partner & I were extremely disappointed on the Mini Mansion in Hollywood Hills accommodation that we did not stay. There was no-one there to meet or greet on arrival. There was a flight of stairs through a narrow entrance we had to carry heavy baggage up and the porch was wet & slippery. A young French lady appeared behind us and said she was staying because it was cheap and showed us in. She had to yell out to a son whom was upstairs to come down & show us to the rooms ??? He appeared in night attire although it was 4.30 in the afternoon. The room appeared to have just had the quilt pulled up & the sheets were not clean. We asked if he could connect us to the WIFI where we sought another hotel and sent for a taxi. Whilst chatting to the French lady the son was emptying bins from the room and bathroom we were supposed to use. We decided to leave the premises when we met the wife who seemed amazed we were there & leaving. We voiced our disappointment on her not being there to at least let us in and she quickly asked her son "where were you". At this stage the husband was lying on the lounge room floor in a white singlet! Not what I would call acceptable attire, thank goodness we weren't travelling with our children. The place was not clean & still had the Christmas tree up. We are requesting a full refund through your company and will be contact Visa to advise them of our actions. We have been a keen client of Hotels.com but maybe you should have someone personally check the clients you are dealing with. This was something out of a Horror Movie. read more

This is a great bed and breakfast owned by a charming couple. The host and hostess couldn't have been more gracious. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and gave directions to various places and where to drive. The breakfast is continental but very comfortable setting and I never went away hungry. It is a home and not a hotel but we had several nice conversations with our hosts that you couldn't get in a hotel. The location cannot be beat as it is off the beaten path but you can get to Hollywood Blvd in 20 minutes and to Universal Studios in 10 and to Warner Bros Studio in 20 minutes. We felt very safe and slept great. Highly recommend this home. read more
