I was traveling through the area, from out-of-state and I was having a situation that was not within my control. There was water settling in the passenger side, floorboard that appeared to be water from the AC. I stopped in after setting up an appointment thinking that my car would be diagnosed or inspected upon getting there at the prescribed appointment time that was not the case. It was not explained to me that it was a first come first serve whichever vehicles were ahead of me either that day or the prior week would be looked at. I informed Advisor that I have extended warranty coverage and all information needed to be passed on to them so that they can make an informed decision on what would be the steps for the repair or replacement. After four or five hours without any updates, it was explained to me that there was a need to remove certain interior parts to look for the initial issue. The advisor contacted me with a concern that disassembling would not be covered my warranty. I did not confirm because I took that advice from the Advisor. I returned back to my home state. Made an appointment at the nearest BMW dealer waited, roughly around the same time for my vehicle to be looked at. However, this time they removed whatever parts were necessary and replaced a plastic piece which resolved the problem where the water was getting into the cabin area and settling into the car. Update: the reason why I took my vehicle to another dealership was after speaking to my warranty company. They explained to me they were never contacted after the initial diagnosis. It was never explained to them that they needed to approve disassembling certain interior parts of the vehicle to get to where the problem initially started, being that this was never done. They were not able to make an informed decision on how to proceed with the repair or replacement. There were additional cost added to my trip due to BMW Clear Lake's Service Advisor, not contacting the warranty company that I am no longer going to be able to recover because the claim was never started. My suggestion if you're from out of town and you have to get service get a second opinion, contact somebody who can give you the correct information so that you're not inconvenience in this way. I would like to say that my experience in the beginning and the ending was top-notch because I paid for no way going and coming after dropping my vehicle off. I was greeted professionally, although I was not informed or with the app that was provided to let you know if your vehicle was in the process of being inspected or repair status, it seen that a lot of training had been put in place to make the customer experience initially above average. Unfortunately, I didn't come for the frills and thrills and being spoken to eloquently and treated respectfully. I needed to get that smelly water out of my vehicle, it being evaluated repaired or replaced what was causing the issue which I drove a total of six hours round-trip with that ongoing condition in my vehicle. read more

I popped in to look at a car on the lot, and I was first met by the finance manager who was walking the lot. He was extremely nice and helpful and pointed me in the right direction for the truck I was looking for. Upon locating the car, I went on their website and saw several more that I thought were nice. There was zero pressure which I loved, I spent 30 minutes on the lot looking at 15 or so different vehicles. Once I found a few I wanted to look at, I walked up near the office and I was greeted by JR. Can't say enough good things about him, very polite and courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the vehicles. Never was pushy and it made the experience that much better. Ended up making the ultimate decision to purchase the vehicle and I'm in the process now of buying it. When my check engine light came on when leaving for work (on a Saturday), I called David at the dealership and he asked me if I had road side assistance. This review is based solely on the parts and service departments. I bought my Mini used from an individual and not from a dealer. PARTS: I am a DIY guy. I am not a mechanic but I am not scared to tackle repairs on a vehicle that do not require major electronic parts. For instance, I'll do my own brakes, shocks, struts, door actuators, lock motors, etc. I am not the guy that will attempt to rebuild an engine. The parts department for Mini of Clear Lake is actually located in the building next door at Advantage BMW. Mini parts are not cheap. They are, after all, BMW parts so you should not expect them to be cheap. HOWEVER, this is a "must read" tip. You can order online directly from Mini of Clear Lake (www.advantagebmwparts.com) and pick them up at the dealer. Not only does this save you a substantial amount of money but you also do not have to pay shipping if you are willing to pick it up. The guys in the parts department are very helpful. They will even help you on the phone to make sure you are ordering the right part online. You MUST order online to receive the online price. They will not match it if you ask at the counter. Also, you will need to last 7 digits of your VIN to ensure you are getting the correct parts. SERVICE: The service department is good about checking for recalls etc when you bring your vehicle in for service. However, be prepared to pay a premium for work done of your vehicle that is not under warranty. As I mentioned above, I am a DIY guy so I despise being charged a TON of money for something I am capable of taking care of myself. I realize that not everyone is willing or able to do it themselves but if you are not able, be prepared to pay through the nose for service. In addition, anytime you have service done at a dealer (not just here), they have a habit of checking out the entire vehicle looking for things that may need to be fixed. Many of them are recommendations and can be quite expensive. Just remember, they are mostly "recommendations." The work I have had done here has been quality work and they wash your car before you pick it up. It's nice to have it clean when you get it back. Nice touch. Bottom Line: I have been happy with the service I have received from Mini of Clear Lake but like most folks, I don't like the price that comes with it. I really like the discount I can get by ordering parts online and picking them up at the dealer avoiding delivery charges. read more

I have been through the car buying process several times in my life and my experience at Mini of Clear Lake was the best by far. Not that the others were bad, it's because this dealership is so wonderfully unique. Mini has gone the extra mile to market to individuality, and the staff there treat you with the same philosophies and have their own uniqueness, as well. Our salesperson, Riley, drove a Mini, knows all things Mini, and was super laid-back and nice. She was more like a friend helping out, not a salesperson. I've worked with the service department twice and had good experiences both times. It has taken me a few months to get used to this minimalist lifestyle, but now I won't trade my car in for anything. After speaking with the service dept and explaining the situation I was told it wasn't their fault and they wouldn't cover any of the new thermostat cost. My check engine light was on the day after I got the car back. But it was the fourth of July and they were closed. I chose to drive with it since I couldn't get it fixed. And later found out it was my thermostat and that the evap sensor was disconnected. Again this wouldn't have happened if it had been checked properly. Having disconnected sensors and check engine lights coming back on isn't fixed. If I had another choice but to drive it I would have done that. Took a chance and had to hope it would be ok. Not pleased. Wouldn't come back or recommend this shop. read more

My service visit for a Mini Cooper 2011 Countryman culminated in the detail service crew removing my Texas Tag, removing/ripping my residential parking permit in two and removing/reattaching my vehicle registration sticker. I've been to many car dealers in the past before and they've all always been aggressive sales people. Even before I established credit my former friend who's a sales person tried to push me into signing a deal for a car 23.99% interest. I decided to start building credit and wait to get a car. Almost two years later I arrive at the mini dealership and Rachel greets me and she lets me look around at my own pace without trying to convince me to test drive every single car I glance at. I go home and think about it and text her telling her which one I like and she sends me an online application. She helps me through the whole process without going back to the dealer until it's ready to put down a down payment and get the car. It was such an easy process. Even the finance people aren't pushy and they're known to be extremely pushy at car dealerships trying to sign you up for extra stuff. If you go, I recommend dealing with Rachel. Couple of months ago, I purchased a 2012 countryman s with 87,000 miles from the original owner. The mini is for my son for his 16th birthday, and he loves it by the way. I wanted a safe vehicle for him, being that he is a novice driver, so I had it taken to Clear lake Mini to have it serviced. They addressed all the problems and even others as preventive measures. I do not know much about cars but Victor and David was always accommodating when I had questions. Though I was weary of costs and repairs involved, I was ultimately concerned about having a safe vehicle for my son to drive to school. And they did that for me. I have had my vehicles serviced at Mercedes to Honda dealerships, but thus far my experience here has been the most pleasant. I work in service sector where I deal with customers on daily basis, we stress that customers leave on a positive note and wanting to return. And they did that for me! Thank you guys. read more

In March of 2023, my family of 4 drove 9 hours from Mississippi to Houston to purchase a used vehicle for my wife. She found a Ford Expedition she liked at Mini Cooper of ClearLake. The SUV had just been traded in, it needed to be detailed and inspected before it could be released. The dealership and salesman, Andrew Guerrero, ensured everything was to standard and had passed inspection. After driving back to Mississippi, come to find out that 3 out of the 4 tires were dry rotted. We woke up to a flat tire the next morning on our new vehicle. We contacted the salesman that said, they would make this right and cover the cost of the tires that needed replaced. We sent him pictures of all the tires and receipts of getting all tires replaced. We were then contacted by the salesman stating the manager would not approve the reimbursement at all. I have tried calling and no one will return my phone calls. Luckily, my family and I made it home without getting into an accident from a blowout. This is just another example of car salesman taking advantage of a woman purchasing a vehicle. To date I've had three occasions on which to do business with Advantage MINI of Clear Lake, and all three instances were very positive. My first was when I purchased my new 2013 MINI Cooper S Hardtop. I worked with sales rep Rachel Jansma via email to work out the exact specification I was seeking. She was very pleasant to work with. Once my new MINI arrived at the dealership, I signed the paperwork, handed over the payment, and Rachel took her time to explain the workings and features of my new MINI. I spent more time with Rachel in the MINI getting my tutorial than I did in signing the paperwork, which was fast! Rachel has answered all my subsequent questions since the purchase with promptness and courtesy. She is an absolute delight! My second was when the MINI indicated that a reverse taillamp had malfunctioned a few months after I took delivery. I emailed Rachel and she arranged a rapid turnaround service to replace the lamp, free of charge. I was in and out of the dealership in 15 minutes. Fast! The third was when I took my MINI for its first 9,000-mile courtesy service, entailing an high-mileage oil change, inspection, and car wash. Again, I arranged a time with Rachel via email, and was greeted with courtesy by the service rep who explained everything my complimentary service would entail. My service time was an hour, and both the service rep and Rachel were a delight to work with in this instance, again. Based on my three occasions to date, MINI takes customer service seriously. Mini makes the most terrible vehicles sold in USA. I've owned so many different vehicles and worked on them as well. This 2011 Mini Cooper S was giving us many problems while under warrant. The shop never fixed a damn thing, simply removed the codes and sent the car out. Same day it has more codes pop up. They did this until the car went out of warranty. Now I've learned to replace all sorts of bad parts from these terrible cheap POS. It's not old or high mileage but already has such serious problems that the repairs on a "$32k when new car" will be more trouble and expense than the car is worth. Some parts have been replaced 4 times they are such garbage. Don't Buy! Please save yourself. Run like hell from Mini Dealer! read more

Normally, I have zero issues with services or making appointments. I called in today to reschedule an appointment for a recall. Appointment technician told me that I could not get a loaner for the day because it wasn't a required service. I find this unacceptable because it's not some novelty service I'm asking for but for a mini driven safety recall. FANTASTIC!!! That is the word that I would use to describe my experience with MINI of Clear Lake. Absolutely EXCELLENT customer service! I was browsing MINIs online and sent an inquiry email for a quote. Within 10 minutes, Rachel, the Internet Manager contacted me about the car. I told her that I needed a car that could fit my son's wheelchair in the boot. She was honest and told me that she had never tried it, but that I could come to the dealership and try to fit the wheelchair into an actual vehicle. I told her that I would be at the dealership between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm and she said that Riley would be expecting me. When I got to the dealership, Riley greeted me very warmly and we discussed the car that I looked at online, which was the new MINI Copper S Clubman. I test drove it and loved it however we still needed to wait for my husband and son to arrive so that we could test the fit of his chair in the car. Well, the wheelchair fit, but barely. So then we tried the MINI Cooper S Countryman and the chair fit perfectly!!! During the entire experience, Riley, Mike, and Keith were all very welcoming to me and my family. Riley even gave my son a plush bulldog and key to keep because he liked them so much. She was very patient with me as I was trying to decide between the Countryman and the Clubman based on how the wheelchair fit. I drove off the lot that evening in my first MINI and new car EVER (i.e. MINI Cooper S Countryman). The dealership usually closes at 7:30pm on Tuesdays, but they stayed until ~10:00 pm so that I could buy my car. Since it was so late, they could not detail the vehicle that night because the service department had gone home. As a result, they told me to return on Saturday morning for the detail. Well, when I returned, they cleaned my new car up really pretty and even filled up my gas tank! The dealership has tasty snacks and a very nice selection of coffees and teas to choose from while you wait for your vehicle. The bathroom was also very clean and I am very particular about that. I am a VERY satisfied customer. When I buy my next car, it will be another MINI (because I LOVE mine). I will also be going back to MINI of Clear Lake because the customer service is FANTASTIC!!! read more

I spotted a new listed car in MINIclearlake.com used inventory with the required specifications so I contacted them to get more info (There were limited info and pictures about the car as it was posted less than 2 days back!). Their dedication and kind communications through emails and phone calls led to scheduling an appointment and buying the car. I took my 2015 MINI Countryman for service on a weird noise on the rear passenger side of the car, and it had been annoying me for a while since this is a new car and I did not understand why it was so loud. After I took it in I was informed there was in fact a "report" that this model has this problem. I left my car and they had it a little over a week. A few days later after I had the car the noise came back and I called to let them know. They asked me to bring it in again and informed me they did not have a loaner for me to use, just to "come leave it here if you like". The first time they "worked" on my car it took them a little over a week and I was not going to be without a car for another week due to their error. Finally got some help a couple of weeks later and they were able to get a loaner for me. I mentioned to them the first time I took the car in they damaged the door panel and they agreed to replace it but it was on back order so it would "take some time". I took the car in yet again and they once more kept if for over a week. I picked the car up and was told "there is nothing wrong with the care, it is just one of those things", and that the technician had "hammered" the part into place even harder! I went home with no gas in my car yet again (the first time the car was at 0 miles till empty and this time at 17 and I was told "she was sure I dropped it off with no gas"); door panel still not replaced as it was in "back order". Long story short, I was called to let me know the door panel was in and to take my car in. I informed them the noise was still there and the last time they worked on my car they did not connect the light on the top so it doesn't turn on. Another week went by and I went to pick the car up on 9/12/2015. I was told they could not "recreate" the noise and to please drive it with their foreman (arrogant guy who thinks everyone should know about cars apparently). I drove with him and not even three minutes into the drive the noise was "recreated" at least 4 times. His reply was "That?, I can't do anything better than that, some chassis noise is acceptable!". And that was that! Horrible customer service, I felt talked down to, I even felt mocked because of the "noise" I kept hearing. I guess the problem with my car is not a problem at all for this dealer! But for MINI as a company it was since they made an actual "Report" that this problem was present with this model. Will definitely not recommend anyone I know to do business with them! read more

I bought my Mini Cooper Clubman 2014 from this site and I absolutely love my car. The service team here has a bad rep though. I cant decide if they are over worked/very understaffed or just incompetent. The biggest problem I have had was quite simple: every time I took my car in for an oil change, I was repeatedly told that the run-flats that came on the car were NOT supposed to be rotated. Not knowing anything tangible about tires and getting the same information from several mini service persons on serveral occasions over two years, I just decided this must be true. When it was final time to get new tires, I decided to shop around. Lo and Behold many different tire servicing locations (4 total) all told me, without prompt, that the wheels SHOULD HAVE BEEN ROTATED! The tires were RUSTED ONTO THE AXEL and had to have rust remover to take off the dang wheels!!! I can deal with the incredibly long lines for an oil change (in which they forgot to check fluids, switch out the windshield wipers which were damaged, and to recap the oil container properly: leading to a service person having to come to where my car was to refill my oil as it had spilled out ALL OVER THE DRIVE WAY) but this kind of complete misinformation is beyond my forgiveness. Ill never know if they were lying that my oil changes only needed to be every 8-10k miles. everyone else disagrees and has directed me to a 5k oil change rotation schedule. My best advice: everyone who seems nice, isn't necessarily giving out correct information. read more

This dealer was the first dealer that made my experience with buying a car the most greatest of all times!! Well, first from start to finish. I went there about three times. Rachel was the one who assisted me throughout the buying process from finding me the right car that fitted my budget and assisting me with my trade-in and the loan/financing process.
