On a recent trip up to Taho my 2017 Mini with 22k miles started to shake while driving. Mini of Reno is the closest dealership so I made an appointment with them to check my tires and suspension. They charge 170 diagnostic which seems fair enough. After their diagnostic, I was told my tires and suspension were fine, the problem was an engine mount and the cost was 2,000 to repair it. I signed off on the repair and 2 hours later my car was ready. While pulling out of the lot, it was obvious that nothing was fixed so I made a U turn and brought it right back. After a second look, they found that my back drivers' side tire was unevenly worn and both back tires were expired. They explained that the rubber inside the tires breaks down with time, and even when they have such low miles, they expire at 6 years. At this point they didn't charge me the 170 diagnostic, since they misdiagnosed the problem, and they didn't charge labor for the tires installation. The only problem was that it would take 2 more days and I had to extend my time in Taho and make another trip back to Reno. Finally after the tires arrived and were installed I was able to be on my way back to Los Angeles. Before leaving though I checked the tires they had installed only to find that they are both 3 years old ( manufacture date mid 2021 ) Their shop ended up getting from me 2000 dollars for an engine mount that had nothing to do with the problem I was having and then unloaded 3 year old tires on me after telling me that the rubber in the tires breaks down with time and expires at 6 years. I ended up making extra trips to Reno and spending extra to stay over in Taho all due to their mistakes. They have a very nice location and Tierra is very friendly but their services are clearly sub-par and business practices are shady at best. read more

Mini broke my Mini. I've been a loyal customer of Mini of Reno since 2014, when I purchased my barely used Cooper Convertible. I bring it in for annual oil changes and service checks, maintain it well, replace parts as needed and have always felt welcomed, taken care of as a patron and that my car was serviced well. Until last year. In May of 2023, I brought my car in for an oil change and check-in. I also indicated that the convertible roof was not functioning properly and asked that it be checked out. When I arrived to pick my car up, a week later, I was sure not to leave the lot without checking my car over. The roof was still not working properly. Parts had obviously been removed and not replaced correctly. As I attempted to use the convertible roof pieces detached. I ended up speaking to the customer service agent and, ultimately, the head technition. I had to reschedule clients as a result of the extra time spent at the dealership waiting for my vehicle to be repaired and, upon arriving home, found that parts had gone missing from my roof. In October, I brought my car in for maintenence indicated by the warning light. This time, when I picked up my car (a day later), the door open indication tone had changed and was incredibly loud. I couldn't believe that no one noticed this was a problem. The USB and AUX did not work. Something was seriously wrong with my car. I was shocked when, after waiting hours for the scan to identify what was wrong with my car, that Jeff Leathers, the head tech came out to show me a youtube video (which I had also found while researching the issue) and basically indicated that I had done the damage. Again, my schedule was disrupted by the need to stay at the dealershp while my vehicle was assesed. Ultimately, they had to keep my car to repair it. One of the reasons I have remained a loyal Mini of Reno customer is because of the service I receive including a loaner which they provided for this case and the prior. I appreciate this and the comfortable waiting area. 20 Days later my car was ready for pick up. In the meantime I had multiple exchanges with Lloyd (service agent) and a very serious exchange with Jeff Leathers who had obviously been made aware of a letter of complaint I had sent to Mini corporate. I was charged $100 to replace the stereo in my car which, evidently, had "gone bad." While I have no proof of how this happened, I do know that it didn't happen while it was in my possession. All of this being said, I don't think that there is anything inherently bad about Mini of Reno. I think that the technitions are not proper mechanics, that they aren't well trained in customer service and, while I don't think the customer is always right, much would have been different in this situation if an admittance of mistake had been made up front. No outreach or efforts were made to ensure that I was satisfied and compensated for the inconveniences. It took me a year to write this review because I want it to be accurate in telling the story. I also want vehicle owners to know that you have to speak up when something doesn't seem right and always remember: don't leave the lot until you've made sure your vehicle is in full working order. read more

Bought a brand new Mini Cooper Countryman from this dealer and all these years have been happy with prompt,courteous service with no problems. But, in early summer i scheduled regular service, really just an oil change, and when I went down there the service person, a young woman, took nearly two hours to check me in and knew practically nothing! Lloyd, who had always taken care of me, had left. The service ended up costing me a lot more than it needed to due to her ineptitude. Today my battery is dead, and because the only way to replace it correctly and register it is through a Mini dealer, I called right away. I was told it would be nearly two weeks to get an appointment to change my battery! No other solution was possible,no loaner, no help at all. What on earth am i supposed to do? This place is a Mini owner's worst nightmare. They never answer the phone; it took me two hours to get a service appointment, and that was through an outside operator. It took an hour to reach the parts department t, all the while the generic messsge about how much they value your time, blah blah blah. It was exhausting. Once there for my appointment, it was clear they wanted to perform a bunch of testing before installing a new battery--which is why I wanted an appointment. Apparently, Mini has a lock on battery installation; it requires "registering" and "coding" proprietary software, which they charge $200 to do!!! But first, they wanted to charge $70 to test the battery. And then the battery itself would cost at least $225, but as much as $285. No one could tell me which battery I'd need, without unpacking the car, packed for a two-month trip. Beyond that, they said it would take ALL DAY to perform the service, forcing me to pay for a second night in Reno. First advice: don't buy a Mini, no matter how cute it is. The gas mileage sucks, they require more expensive grade fuel, and once out of warranty, you'll find the smallest things (like a battery) will cost you well over $500. Second advice: don't come to this dealership for service, if you value your time, wallet, and mental health. read more

Bought my Mini in California but I specifically come to Lloyd Daniels at Mini of Reno just due to his service alone. Other dealers are straight business, lots of up selling, and do questionable items (like forcing appraisals, charging up front for diag before any work performed, etc.) Lloyd makes it a very welcoming environment without any other noise. Really takes care of the customer whether it is good news or bad news. Very responsive, lots of communication, and very fair. Amazing experience today - thank you Paula in the service department! I'm 250 miles from home and my mini alerts me to major malfunction and needs service immediately! I called and spoke to Paula, she assured me that I could safely drive the short distance to Mini of Reno, however they didn't have any openings until Wednesday (today is Monday)! I had no other option! I made the short drive and when I arrived, Paula said she'd check with the service team and try to fit me in! I headed to the waiting room and to my amazement she checked in with me shorty to let me know the issue and I authorized the parts and repairs. We are at the end of our lease term on our Mini Cooper Countryman All4 S. It has been the most incredible experience from beginning to end. Our sales advisor, Zeb made the lease process easy and hassle-free. The dealership has a really nice lounge for the kids while you're waiting. The service department advisors Paula and Lloyd have been amazing and made each service experience easy. And my car was always clean when I came to pick it up! I initially wrote a 5 star review because I was pleased with the service when I took my car in for some regular scheduled maintenance and an alignment check. The service manager was very friendly and I felt I was getting good value for money. However, they told me that there were three engine oil leaks, one of which I should repair right away and two of which could wait. I initially thought this was an honest recommendation, so I scheduled that for the next week. Not two days after this service, my engine malfunction light came on. I got conflicting advice so I ended up bringing it in, but they refused to look at it. This was a friday morning. They said they wouldn't be able to look at it until "sometime next week" because they were busy. I told them I didn't feel safe driving it because it had done a sputtering thing, and I have a forty minute commute that I didn't want to be stranded in the middle of the desert. They still said nothing could be done until a Tuesday appointment at the earliest and i should just "try to drive as little as possible". WTF. I said I was really frustrated by all the repairs and costs of maintenance for this car and that now I didn't even feel safe to drive it -- they responded by asking if I wanted to talk to the sales people about buying a new car. ARE YOU SERIOUS?? I ended up going to Autobahn specialists first thing monday morning where they not only looked at my car right away (for less than half the cost of what the Mini dealer would have charged) and got it back to me within 1 hour, but they diagnosed the oil leak as something completely different, MUCH easier to fix (only replacing one part instead of 3), and did a complementary engine check 1 week later to make sure there were no further leaks. I am never taking my car to the Mini Dealer ever again and unless your car is under warranty, I would recommend going to Autobahn instead for cheaper, better , more trustworthy service. read more

Now I have to admit.... I did not buy my mini here... I got it from another dealer in town, with a warranty from that other dealer.... However, all mini work (oil changes, tires, anything) has to be done thru mini, but I have to call my car dealer to set it all up and get a rental.... So it's kind of a cluster when I need any service work on my mini. That being said..... Mini has always been super accommodating with all my service needs! (Please note, my mini is a fantastic car! The only service work I have ever gotten gas been routine oil changes, and new tires). The staff treat me like im family, they deal with the other dealership so all I have to so is drop the mini off, then pick it up. After the service they walk me thru all that they did, how everything is looking, pull it up front with the ac/heater on (depending on time of year!) and have washed and vacuumed it! The mini service staff has been a dream to work with! I feel like my car is in good hands when they work on it, and feel safe driving it after they are done! I was buying a Mini Cooper and we had established a price. I took the car to my private mechanic who after inspecting it told me the mechanical aspects were fine. He was concerned that there was a foreign body in the left front tire and that there was rim damage of all tires but the right rear. When I took the car back to Bill Pearce, my salesperson who was excellent, helpful, and competent, talked to his supervisor named Zed, and told me they weren't going to do anything about this. I asked to speak with his supervisor. Zeb came over and immediately began to bully me telling me it was a used car and they wouldn't do anything about all of this and that I "should feel thankful that they let me take the car to my private mechanic." He also told me that a vibration under the dash on the driver's side was part of buying a used car. I told him they needed to take the tire off the front left and remove the foreign body and that this probably was the cause of the vibration. He complained about having to pay his techs. I offered to take the car to Les Schwab tire place and I'd pay for this inspection if he was too cheap and unconcerned about safety. Also, they could look at the rims and tell me if this was a safety problem or not. He agreed to do this in his shop and I agreed if his techs removed the foreign body and looked at the rims and felt they were safe, I'd buy the car. I shook on this with the salesman. He gave me the email to send in the deposit, $2000 nonrefundable. I was going to the bank to get the other 20k cash. About an hour later the salesman called to tell me that they had sold the car to someone else. I felt that Zeb and Bill Pearce Mini had dealt with me in bad faith. Now I am happy that I won't have to deal with Zeb the supervisor of the Reno Mini Cooper store nor will I be involved with them for future service. Bill Pearce should either get rid of this hostile manager or at least get him so therapy help if he is going to deal with customers. read more

I was extremely disappointed with the service at Mini of Reno. My father and I had gone to the dealership 4 times showing interest in the two 2020 Oxford Editions that were still wrapped in packaging. We were told it won't be available for a week or two to be test-driven, so we test-drove a similar Mini, which was great! I was appreciative that they helped us do that. They did inform us that we could put a deposit down, however we were never given concrete answers of when the car would be available, as they needed to have inspections done, and we had time-constraints of when we needed to buy by (which we shared with them). However, when we went back a few days later to inquire more, both of the Oxford Editions were sold, and that the deal of them being "for students" was no longer in place. I really wish we had just been contacted, like we had asked, when the cars were unwrapped and ready to be test-driven. So moving forward, we attempted to have one shipped to the Reno location as I was truly set on that being my car, and I was crushed when we found out they were sold. We were promised that the car would be here by early July, which eventually turned into Mid July which eventually turned into late July. We had to reach out to them to inquire about the date, and it just kept changing. I'm not sure where our issues stemmed from, but it was so incredibly frustrating, and in the end, I never was able to get my dream car. I won't be looking at Mini of Reno anytime soon but instead traveling to shop at different locations. As a customer, I shouldn't have to feel like I'm doing the job for the salesperson by always reaching out for updates in a situation like this. read more

What a GREAT car buying experience. Being the only Mini Cooper dealership in Reno you might think that they would be smug and indifferent. This is the best car buying experience that I have had. Eric Van Reusen did a fantastic job of understanding my requirements for the Mini Cooper Paceman. He invited me to bring my musical gear that I will be carrying in the Mini to make sure that it fit and explaining the product differences between the Paceman's that were available for sale. After completing the easy buying process, Eric spent over an hour going thru the car explaining all of the features and capabilities. Wow. He continues to followup after the sale to make sure that I am happy with my purchase and to see if I have any questions about the car. This experience deserves the 5 star rating. I noticed that some people have had issues with the service department. The Paceman is our 2nd Mini. My wife is the proud owner of a three year old Mini Cooper Coupe. Her experience with the service has been very good. I purchased Union Jack mirror covers as a Valentines Day present for my wife. The parts department were very competitive with their pricing for this product and offered to keep the covers and install them at no charge when my wife's car came in for service. Her expression when she picked her car up after service was priceless. In my opinion Mini of Reno is a great dealership with a great sales, finance, parts, and service departments. I love my Mini, but The parts department in Reno is a joke. The guy working there rarely answers the phone (once I called 5 times from 10 am to 200pm with no answer, and when I finally drove down there they didn't have my part , a wasted trip that could have been avoided.) He was very defensive when I asked why no one will answer the phone calls. He never present at the counter if you walk in you always have to shout into the doorway to get him to come out.. I have also been given the wrong part when he confirmed it was the passenger side item, only to get home to find it was the driver side version, so another wasted trip back down to Mini. His response was "oh sorry", He is always very aloof and smug. He needs to be replaced with someone who wants to be there and understands customer service. When you own a car you will interact with the parts guy and service department many more times than the sales department. I will order my parts online and only go there if It is absolutely necessary. read more

I'm sure sales is excellent, but the service department is terrible. I'm also sure some people are satisfied, but wow this experience was the worst I've ever had. So here is the story about an experience I had at at the Bill Pearce, Mini of Reno. By far, the worst experience of my life and I hope no one else has to go through this. First, I call in ahead of time at 7:30am on Friday, Sept 05, 2014, to ensure that I can have my car towed there because the battery was dead and I needed a replacement. The symptoms were that the car lights were on but when I would try to start there car, there was just a clicking sound. It arrived at the dealership around 8:45am that same morning. Kris Collins, the team service manager, had told me he would be with me in just a minute after telling me that it was the battery and that the key was now locked in the ignition and then wanted me to sign paperwork saying that it would cost me $125 dollars for an oral estimate. I had more questions before signing that paper, and stood at the counter waiting while he assisted other customers. I waited a little while knowing my appointment was at 12:15pm and that there were other customers ahead of me. But then I ended up waiting for 3 hours for him to answer a few questions because I insisted. I only got his attention when I said I would sign the papers because it was taking to long for him to attend to me. There is only one man working and he explained that he was backed up and still would not be able to get to my car until the afternoon. So I accepted with the 125 oral estimate and 321 dollar battery replacement fee and thought they would have loaner vehicles, like in my other experiences with mini dealerships, but instead they had a shuttle. So I waited, and waited. I called around 4:00 (late afternoon) because I hadn't received any updates. I kept calling, Kris Collins was rarely available and nobody could help me. I did not get an answer until 4:17pm and he had told me that they did not replace the battery yet because they are backed up, but they did notice something else that broke and may have gone into the motor (unsure) so that they will have to charge me 426$ to diagnose it. I have a 3rd party warranty and asked if they can call the warranty to see if it would be covered but they said they can't because they do not know what's wrong with it beside a chain being broken. So again, I asked if they can call to see if that part can be covered but they had insisted that they can't. Kris Collins also said that no work will be done until Monday because they are so backed up. I approved for work and charges to be done Monday. About an hour later, I had called back a few times before I got an actual response, retracting my approval. Kris Collins had explained that they have already started some work immediately after I called, even though they had from 9am to 5pm to work. He said that it will cost $207 dollars for the labor they had already done, without even switching out my battery which was why I was there in the first place. We went back and forth on the phone about the issue and I explained to him my concern about the issue. He kept trying to explain, but nothing really made sense. I'm sure it all makes sense to him, but in my experience, I have never been charged like this, or have ever waited so long for service to be done. I have had 3 mini coopers before and NONE of this has ever happened. After the back and forth conversation, he said he will continue to replace the battery on Monday with my approval and not continue to do any work. This would cost me 516$. I said okay, continue replacing the battery on Monday without any work. I ended up without a car for the weekend, including Friday. I also missed a total day of work. I show up Monday morning, and they still haven't replaced the battery. This whole ordeal has forced me to take the car somewhere else. I still had to pay $237.11 for some sort of labor and another towing fee to move my car. I will never ever go to that mini dealership again, or any bill Pearce dealership. A bill Pearce dealership was also going to charge me $40 dollars per tire to fill it up with Nitrofill (nitrogen). When I bought the car, I bought a Nitrofill membership, which entailed that I can get my tires filled at any authorized nitrofill dealership. One of Bill Pearces franchises were one of them, but charged me. So I called a different place, went there with no charge. I am considering getting rid of my Mini for a different car because this is the only mini dealership where I am. Other options are places like autobahn specialities. They are 5 stars, and specialize in Mini. $60 dollars for a diagnosis (versus Mini at $426 for me) and $45 for an oil change for a Mini Cooper (verus $115 at Mini) as advertised on their website. I personally took my car to Infinite Velocity. They are very nice, friendly and helpful. They will do whatever to help you. read more

My wife and I just bought our second Mini from Mini of Reno. We were on the fence earlier this year, but when Lloyd stepped in to manage the service department the ongoing support and service experience has been amazing. We couldn't imagine having to roll the dice with another dealership. Zeb was great during the sales process. No pressure just focused on educating and making sure we understood the differences in the models. We ended up getting the new Clubman and are very happy with it. We had a Clubman before and liked it, but we need an all wheel drive now. When we went in to sign papers there was no pressure from the finance department to buy the extras. Same approach of educating and letting you make the decision. It was good to see Eric is now the sales manager. Great experience and we highly recommend them. read more

I cant speak for the service department, but we had a great experience purchasing our pre-owned MINI from Eric. Both he and the Finance Manager were easy to work with, honest and very respectful of our time, and the car was listed at an honest price, so no haggling needed. We had to leave half way through the process, and they were very understanding and just got the car ready for us and held everything else until we could head back later that night to finish. We love our MINI and recommend purchasing here. We just bought a Mini Cooper Countryman and had a great experience with both Eric and Jeb. My husband surprised me with the car, so I went back the next day for my car tutorial and Jeb paired my phone and setup all my favorite XM radio stations. He showed me how to work everything and then sent me an email a few days later to see how everything was working and if I had any more questions. We have been here 5 separate times for 5 different reasons. They have the worst customer service.. The mechanics are repairing work that they already have repaired and Chris kept hanging up of sorts when I was trying to explain the problems. You leave them a message it will take 2-4 days to get a chance to talk to a repair rep. I wish I could have given them zero stars. read more

I can't say enough about this dealership and it's service staff! We are visiting from out of town and have had the unfortunate luck of needed repairs twice since we have been here, Andy and Lloyd the service writers are two of the nicest guys that will bend over backwards and take care of you like they have known you for years. This repair I expected around a grand and was not InThe position to really spend this especially on Christmas Eve what a crappy time to break down with a serious repair. Anyhow I went to pick up my car today and I only had a small bill under 200.00 I was dumbfounded and totally stunned. Apparently they have a goodwill program that picked up over 70% of my bill they extend to those in need when something serious happens. I was so relieved as my oldest daughter was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure and we had to cover her kids for Christmas and may have to get back to TN at any minute. Long story short they went above and beyond and my car is in better shape than it's been in awhile I will miss this dealership when we go home more than they will know. I purchased my Paceman in August of 2013. The service visit I mention was in January of 2016. I do not recommend this dealership. I originally purchased my car here several years ago, I had to drive out from San Francisco because they would not work with any of the other dealerships that were closer to me. They had the car that was optioned the way I wanted, but refused to do any kind of transfer. Most dealerships will do transfers without much trouble. Not impressed with the whole process as it was a 4+ hour drive each way, and a lot more paperwork and hassle due to it being sold in NV, and registered in CA. Car regularly had issues, and the last time it started having trouble when I was on vacation in Tahoe. MINI roadside assistance had it towed to MINI of Reno. It sat at the dealer for two weeks and they kept wanting me to authorize more money (for a car still under factory warranty!), but seemed to have no idea what was actually wrong with it and kept telling me they just need to look at it more. Had to do another 4+ hour drive to go get it, still not fixed, and hope it didn't completely break down on my drive home because I needed the car. I was able to fix it in my driveway the next day (end link bolts had started coming loose causing clunking and rattling noises from the rear suspension). I sold the car 2 months later and when I had the car appraised by another dealer, I found out MINI of Reno did not return the factory tow hook, so I got to buy a new one before selling the car. They also moved all of my belongings in the car (emptied every compartment) and just tossed it into a giant box in the back. There was clearly no respect for any of my belongings. Terrible service. I do not recommend the sales or service department. I contacted both the dealership and MINI USA regarding these issues. Never heard back from them. read more

I just purchased a two door Mini here. The sales experience was one of the best I have had. Zeb was an awesome in sales, making sure that all my questions were answered. It took just over an hour for the test drive and the initial paperwork for purchase. When I came back to pick up the car I only spent about twenty minutes to finish up the paperwork and I got a better interest rate then I was initially quoted. Then Zeb spent another forty minutes going through the entire car again to make sure I knew how to work everything! Overall one of the best car buying experiences ever! I took my 2007 Mini Cooper in because the brake light wouldn't go out. It ended up needing something to do with the car's computer. The total bill was over $1000 and I was upset because the car only has @ 23,000 miles on it. I spoke with Mark who said he'd speak with the service manager to see if they could do anything. The next day, Jim Leathers, the service manager called me personally and said they wanted to work with me on it. The whole job only ended up costing me $410. I was so grateful to them for helping me. They are totally there for the customer and were absolutely wonderful! I want everyone to know that these guys are there for you and do a wonderful job. I can't recommend them enough and will buy my next Mini from them! Once you go Mini, you never go back!! read more
