    Mangu
    Henry G.

Stop playing with me. I stopped by this unassuming little restaurant on a whim while waiting for my car at Hyundai. I had no idea I was about to have one if he best breakfasts I've eaten all year. SERVICE: Excellent service all around. Order at the front counter and they have a few seats inside. I dined in and had no complaints. FOOD: Woo. Alright, so I had Mangu. Had I ever had Mangu before today? No. But a quick google search confirmed that it's a traditional Dominican breakfast consisting of mashed plantains with pickled red onion, thick fried salami, eggs and a fried cheese. The presentation was like something you'd expect out of a 45-minute wait $30-a-plate brunch spot. It was gorgeous. And as good as it looked, I can tell you it tasted even better. I'm not a Mangu aficionado by any stretch, but I could find no faults with this meal. The salami was salty and crunchy, the cheese fried to a beautiful golden brown, eggs were over-medium as requested, and the mashed plantains stole the show - slightly chunky, hearty and filling with a perfect amount of acid from the red onion. Everything complimented everything. It was so good, I was compelled to sit here in the restaurant and write this review immediately after finishing. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and run - don't walk - to this little cafe. I only wish I had more of a reason to be in Bloomfield. Hey - maybe now I do.

Went to this cute spot while waiting for my car at the nearby Hyundai. It was highly recommended and I now know why. The service from the women behind the counter was exceptional. My breakfast was tasty and I was surprised about how nice the presentation of the food was for a small cafe. Just an overall good experience

Pancake platter with eggs and bacon

A friend of mine sent me some grub from here to try out for breakfast as a surprise for helping them out with something. I must admit, the pancake platter was really good. It came with two large pancakes, lots of bacon and scrambled eggs. The pancakes were home made tasting and had a nice fragrance like cinnamon to them. They were light, fluffy and fulfilling. The bacon was well done they way I like it and the eggs with cheese were really good. The French toast was okay, I'm, not a French toast person. But the surprise was the breakfast wrap. This one had two eggs, cheese and home fries in it and some good turkey bacon. This in itself is a full meal, but was perfect even though I at it for lunch and warmed it up in the air fryer :). Over all I really liked it and would go here or order for delivery in the future.

Amazing ....... This my new spot word up

Mangu (Saturday only). The mashed plantains balances the salty salami and cheese

Small spot on the 2 very busy streets. Street parking nearby. Came here last Saturday specifically for the Mangu. A Facebook food channel and the news of people dying in DR suggested I should dine. There was a TV showing soccer. The owner was very nice and took my order and brought out the food quickly.i noticed many takeout order. The Mangu was tasty. I'm not used to eating mashed plantains. The fried salami exceeded my expectations. The pickled onions was good to cut the grease and salt of the salami. I was not a fan of the fried cheese. I'd come back for Saturday Breakfast

New spot in Montclair that has yogurt parfaits. Yogurt parfait was small but very fulfilling. Granola was not overly sweet and the berries were fresh. Will order again.

Easy no fuss food for a great price and great quality. The breakfast sandwiches steal the show. Highly recommend the grilled cheese with bacon, as well! Super creamy and toasted to perfection. Fast, friendly service, too. Minia's is a true gem of the neighborhood.

Ordered food from this spot for the first time and It was decent! A good portion for a lunch time, didn't even finish my rice and beans but everything was tasty. We ordered 2 burgers and one of them was a bit undercooked even though I ordered it as well done but overall the fries were good.

This place has a lot to offer! The menu has a good variety of stop and go, healthy choices, and popular appetizers. In addition of a typical "mangú" & "Uruguayan chivoto". Check it out!

Minias Family Size Menu is great for take out during this lockdown. Amazing home cooked food, large portion, great price!!

A hidden gem for authentic Mexican food in NJ!…read more I recently visited The Mariachi Grill and was blown away by the flavors and portions. I tried the birria tacos, fresh guacamole with chips, avocado salad, mixed seafood in red sauce, churrasco, chicken flautas, and chicken enchiladas -- all served with rice and beans. Everything tasted homemade, especially the salsas, which added that perfect kick. The patio is lovely, great for dining outdoors, and it's BYOB, which is a huge plus! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food with great service and a chill vibe in Lyndhurst, this place is a must.

They are renowned for their vibrant flavors, bold spices, and diverse dishes catering to all tastes using ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, garlic, and cilantro. Authentic Mexican food is more than tacos and salsa. The Garden State is hailed as one of the most diverse states when it comes to food, hosting some of the best Mexican restaurants on the East Coast. Whether one desires a quick taco or a full-course meal, my friends and I were craving rich and bold tastes from Mexico and decided on this family-owned establishment for an early Cinco de Mayo dinner. The reservation was easily made by calling Mariachi Grill, located on Ridge Road in Lyndhurst. Upon arrival at this popular spot to locals, with its cozy and casual interior decked out in traditional Mexican vibes, we were greeted by the staff and immediately got a table by the entrance, but they also have outdoor dining, weather permitting. The menu selection is much smaller than at other restaurants. We decided on the Cheese Enchiladas, Beef Enchiladas, California Burrito, Beef Burrito, Chicken Fries with Fries, and Shrimp Fajitas. Some meals are accompanied with a small portion of rice and black beans. Complimentary house chips and salsa started our meal. As the restaurant is working on their liquor license, it's BYOB. One can bring your own tequila or wine, and the staff will mix it with their sangria or margarita mixes. We washed our meal down with a pitcher of sangria. The presentation was very good. The food was made incredibly fresh, well seasoned, deliciously tasty, and generous. The price was very reasonable for the area. Our server Lisa with her outgoing personality and her desire to make our visit enjoyable, which we didn't feel rushed. Good experience overall, which we can recommend.

Folklore has nice taco options for vegetarians. The hibiscus (flower) taco with slaw was so good. It's flavorful and hearty, and a satisfying meat alternative. We also tried the mushroom-spinach tacos with onion and cilantro; next time I would try this one with the slaw or ask for hot sauce or something to spice it up because it's fresh and good, but it paled in compared to the flavors of the hibiscus tacos. It's fresh ingredients and you can tell they make an effort in preparing, so I would still give it a higher rating. My husband had the veggie burrito bowl. He said it was filling, but did not have a variety of veggies. I suspect that meat bowls are really good. It could have also been that we ordered towards the end of the night. He said next time, he would get the hibiscus from Folklore. Chips and guac were a good side to share. Freshly made and tasty. Also I liked how they were packed in a red and white plaid food boat

It wasn't too bad but the fact that a piece of bone was in my tacos made it all the worse (pic included). From 3-stars to 2-stars. Avoid. Al pastor burrito - I just don't know why it tasted so dry. I tried rotating it so each bite would incorporate all the different components of the burrito but overall, just disappointing. Maybe not enough guac/pico? 3 stars Additionally, I asked for extra salsa but was only given the standard one small cup included with the tacos. Extra salsa would've helped on the burrito so not getting extra salsa was a bummer. Still looking for great Mexican food in the area...have yet to find it and this place most surely wasn't it. Without the snafus, I would rate this place 3 stars. But the bone fragment in my tacos + not providing extra salsa as requested...gotta drop it another star.
