We came here for breakfast and ordered an Iced Mocha Latte, a regular hot coffee, Huevos Rancheros and the French Toast Melt. The Iced Mocha Latte was awesome and was dripping in chocolate syrup, but was not too sweet. However, the regular coffee was very small and bitter. As for the food, I love a french toast sandwich but I felt like this one had too much bacon and cheese on it, and on top of this, it was slathered with a big chunk of butter. It felt very a bit heavy for breakfast. The Huevos Rancheros were a bit better. I really like how Ray's lets you choose between all different kinds of sausages from an array of South American countries. The entire menu is actually very cool because it feels like American/Latino breakfast fusion. The waitress was very patient while explaining all the different kinds of chorizo to my husband, and overall the service was excellent. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I am knocking off one more star for the ambiance. The restaurant is very cute but the indoor seating seemed very cramped[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We decided to sit outside because of this, but I ended up having water dripping on me from the roof the entire time (it wasn't raining, so I guess this was from an air conditioner?).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The outdoor seating is also close to the road in a pretty busy part of Montclair, which for me was a bit hectic for breakfast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Small place, with a HUGE HEART![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Everything on their menu has amazing flavor and taste, been coming here for almost 13 years, and even today, they made me a special plate... Keeping it interesting! No special occasion, I'm just a Mickey Fan and so I got a surprise when I ordered pancakes. They serve with love and that's what makes them so different, whether it's your first time or hundredth. Once your hooked, your hooked... Try it once, love it forever!

Great food, service and history! Love the Taylor Ham, Egg and Cheese Sandwich, salt pepper and ketchup! And the disco fries! Excellent fries with gravy and melted mozzarella cheese. So nice to see the pictures of my Uncle Ray up on the wall. Rays still delivers the full experience. Friends, food and family!

I love this place. Super tiny and not a lot of tables but the food is delicious and the staff is super nice. I love the menu choices and their prices are amazing compared to the surrounding restaurants.

Place is welcoming and had nice natural lighting. We got their Huevos Rancheros, roasted chicken, tuna chaufa and lomo saltado. everything was great - good portions and beautiful flavors! Especially loved their Earl Grey latte too. the flavors of tea and espresso were very well balanced I would love to get that drink again. Also got their smores cookie for a nice sweet ending. We ended up chatting away even after we dined. Staff was very polite reminding us they needed the spot and was also kind enough to give us a some time even before the reminder. My friend and I asked if they sell pan con chicharrón, and though they don't have it on the menu, the chef (Brian) said he'd make it for us! First impression of the service ... amazing. We got the pan con chicharrón and I truly almost cried! I have not had one as delicious as this one in Jersey! The pork was tender, yet nicely fried, and there was not as much fat on it which is always hard as the fat gives it the flavor but too much can be overpowering. After talking to the chef, he mentioned that it is no longer on the menu because people didn't really order it ... so here I am, asking you all to go in and order it, so it can hopefully go back on the menu and everyone can try authentic and delicious Peruvian breakfast!! HUGE shoutout to Brian for creating something that brought both me and my friend a true sense of home

Anyway, since then I've been back 3 more times; once for breakfast and twice for brunch. And while I'm confessing, the two times for lunch were on subsequent days. Yeah, they're that good. Actually, their chicken salad on a croissant is the best I've ever had and in my advanced years I've had a crapload of chicken salad. I'm not in Maplewood all that often, generally when I'm shopping at the equally awesome City Workshop but when I do, I always make sure to hit up Perch. The wall frames and Christmas decorations are gorgeous and there are tables, with comfortable seating, on one end of the Cafe. I ordered the following: Matcha White Hot Chocolate (a traditional matcha latte blended with white chocolate sauce), Snickerdoodle Latte (A traditional latte, blended with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla syrup). Both of these were served at the perfect temperature, were richly creamy, and served in large mugs. I also ordered a Carrot Cake Muffin and it was very good. It was moist, each forkful had a decent amount of walnuts, and the frosting was exquisite. Once you're finished with your food, don't forget to stroll through the entire cafe. There's free street parking right up front. I've been here twice and both visits were positive experiences. The cafe is small, but cozy. The greenery and natural lighting make it a welcoming space to meet up with a friend over coffee and pastries or to study. There's a few tables, a couch, and stool seating facing the window. There's also free wifi and outlets. The tables are on the smaller side and the cafe isn't that big, so it's probably not best for large groups. Their menu is simple and a bit limited. Honestly... I prefer it that way! They have your core espresso drinks and a few paninis and croissant sandwiches. They bake their own pastries fresh on the premises. I recommend trying their cookies - they are huge, soft, and chewy! They also specialize in custom cakes for special occasions. Everything is reasonably priced. Baristas are sweet and efficient. They make some tasty iced lattes! The espresso is strong, but not too bitter. It has just the right balance of coffee and milk. I recently tried the Ham Solo sandwich ($10) which included scrambled egg, ham, cheddar, and avocado on a croissant with a side of chips. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. The egg was dry and the ham and cheese tasted like those cheap, pre-sliced ones from grocery stores. If I lived closer, I could see myself stopping by more often.
