Ohkay, I would always come to this location since it's close to my workplace, but I have been avoiding it because the last 3 times I have ordered here the chicken is dry and hard. OMG! I have a new addiction - Hurricane wedges!!!! With so many Minit Stop franchises throughout the island I'm in trouble...hahaha. We ordered takeout at the Lahaina store and the chicken was great, much better than KFC as so many reviewers note, but the Hurricane wedges were AMAZING. It's all about the sauce....spicy, salty, umami goodness that has you licking your fingers so much you don't have fingerprints left. I have found my new last meal if I'm ever in line for execution :/ The store at the bottom of the Lahaina overpass has easy parking, friendly staff, is well stocked and clean, and they have a good sense of humor if you take a look at my photo :) read more

After seeing all the fried chicken & flying saucer pics. posted by a few Yelp friends, I was curious and wanted to try, I didn't get a chance to stop by the last 2 visits to Maui and finally made it during this September trip. I passed by this Minit Stop few times during this trip and it was a sign that I must make a stop. We were on our way to have dinner at the Vietnamese rest. right across, I wanted to stop to grab the fried chicken to try at the airport, I also bought extra orders of chicken littles. My observation, Minit Stop is like Maui's 7-11, this store is very spacious, a convenience store with everything, noticed the items are on the pricier side. I was surprised to see that they carry the Thai fried skin snack from Oahu, which I always buy to eat with my papaya salad. The price for that bag of was 7.99, almost double in price. My order for this first time visit was 3 orders of the chicken little special ( 1.99 for 6 pieces) 2 piece special which comes with 2 piece chicken and 3 potato wedge, the cashier mistakenly rang my order up as a snack pack, which she had to refund my card and ring me up for right order. That took up some time, I also had to wait about 10 minutes for the chicken little. While waiting, I was studying the prices and realized it actually comes out cheaper to get the 4 piece plate lunch vs getting the 6 piece chicken itself, and they also had a special of 15 piece chicken little for 6.99. I bought 3 orders of chicken little at 1.99 x3 which I got 18 pieces of chicken little for 5.97, I saved a dollar but got 3 more pieces of chicken little. The chicken little are tiny pieces of chicken just like popcorn chicken. That night when I got home, me and my other half tried the chicken and wedges. I was crossing my fingers,hope that it would be like the Woolworth chicken that I am searching for, and the verdict, the fried chicken was too salty and meat is really chewy, the chicken little pieces was really junk. It was so super hard, taste like the worker re-fried the pieces again. The best thing from my order that I took home was the potato wedges, it was salty but I loved the breading, breaded potato wedge, yums! If I'm on Maui again, I would go just to grab a ton of wedges! I want to try the flying saucer next time, which they had lobster flavor. All in All, no chicken for me but YES to the potato wedges!! read more

Minit stop you can find so many locations throughout the island. Fried chicken, potato wedges and spam musubi are my go to here. Or sometimes I grab a snack attack which includes a fried chicken though and a rice ball sometimes wrapped in nori or rolled in furikake. Cold beer of every kind of company. Prices are reasonable. You may also find cute little bottles if champagne. Perfect for 1 or 2 mimosas. Employees are friendly. They also have a loyalty program so get a card and start to save. Yes, this is a convenience store, but a trusted co-worker told me about one food in particular and that it's pretty damn tasty. FOOD: Portuguese Bean Soup - In a mysterious steel pot lined with a plastic bag, it sits. Wow, is this actually from a convenience store? Soup was very tasty, lots of veggies and piping hot. Awesome. Fried Chicken - This place is known for their Maui fried chicken. Nothing out of the ordinary but not like there's a ton of places to get fried chicken from besides KFC. Cannot beat their fried chicken and potato wedges. When I'm back on the mainland I crave these! Sometimes the fried chicken can be a little too fried like the skin becomes chicharones pork rinds status but the potato wedges usually always come through. I'd never get fried chicken from a convenience store on the mainland (unless I wanted smallpox). But Minit Stop in Wailuku is a different story. Korean fried chicken, fish tacos, corn dogs, egg rolls, and plate lunches. Rotating plate lunch (this month, it's Orange Chicken). On 12/9/2020 i went in to buy a drink and a snack, upon checking out during my payment process i pressed the wrong button on the credit card machine and it voided my transaction. Cashier Nora with an attitude said something in filipino and verry snobbish . We then tried our payment again and it went thru. This 1-star rating is strictly for the hamburger steak plate lunch. I ordered this and it was the worst hamburger steak I had ever had or smelled. It smelled like caned dog food and it tasted just horrid and my first bite even had rock like hard things in it. Don't ever order this from this place!!! MINIT STOP CHRONICLES Minit Stop used to be cool before they ended free Swiss Miss hot cocoa at the sugar bar and started carding Extreme Senior Citizens. Perhaps, there is a simple explanation. Perhaps, this new generation has got some kind of disease that makes minors look like octogenarians. Silly, but maybe not given the state of genetic "edumcation." Big early product rep. chats in the aisles between the coffee counter and the new beer display can be shocking. Next day, real half/half cream shows up replacing the swag "International house of coffins," fake nondairy crummiest. But, changing the darn cow when it flat lines can be more complicated especially when nobody trained you what fo do. Strangely enough, as fake and yummy as that product was, when they replaced it with the real stuff, that took the last vegan thing out of Minit Stop. Dab Nab it! It's like the staff right after one grouchy churchtian pep talk on the value of a smile for the umteenth time. When nobody is around, these employees know how to laugh and keep it local and light. But don't expect it unless you respect it. They don't pay those kids enough to smile. So please smile at them and say thank you for being my personal indentured servant employee for the duration of this transaction. The potato wedges are so delicious and huge. I wanna see the potato that gave birth to these wedges. I also had a chicken thigh. The chicken was tasty, kinda like the old Hana Broasted (for all da old skoolers). The chicken was so good, on my way from Wailuku to Kahului I stopped at the next Minit Stop and ordered another thigh. The second chicken was not as good as the first, dry and not as crispy. I love Minit Stop. It is the perfect place to go before/after the beach, on a late night food run, or when you want to drown your sorrows in high fat goodness. Other than some necessities (booze, soda, candy), they also offer plate lunches and fried chicken. And yes, chicken deserves its own mention. I would highly recommend the Chicken Cutlet Plate, which is a fried and breaded chicken, served with gravy, two scoops rice and mac salad. Oh, and their spam musubi is famous. The people who patronize this place are interesting too. Pretty much one of the few places where private high school kids in their uniforms mingle freely with construction workers, meth addicts and anyone else, without anyone criticizing. Aloha! We have an office and shop behind the Main St Minit Stop in Wailuku, so we are over there fairly often. I have three things on my mind, First Jaime and the rest of the staff is extremely pleasant and friendly. You don't find that too much any more. I don't know if it's the way they are trained, or they just have some exceptional people, but it is always a pleasure to be a customer there. Secondly I'd like to suggest that they offer an additional "breakfast" item. I don't know how popular it would be, but I would definitely buy it. A yogurt cup, with fruit like strawberries or blueberries and then granola to top it off. They are common at airports, but I haven't seen them many other places. As much as I like your chicken thigh filets and the pastries, I need to have something a bit healthier. I hope they will consider this. And thirdly, I am addicted to their chicken thigh filets. They are really great! I love them. That and a hard cooked egg is my breakfast sometimes, and they are definitely my snack of choice. It'd also be nice if they had some packaged luncheon meat to go with the bread and other condiments that are available. Lastly, I originally sent this in January as a letter to the corporate office, and just last week found out that the management did not bother to respond or pass down the praise to the store manager or employees!
