I was able to get my favorite childhood stuffed animal as a part of me forever! honestly for the steep hourly prices, REALLY poorly done line work & all together just a bad tattoo in general. Mckenzie R. was the artist. I waited to review until after it healed & honestly, I've never had a tattoo look like this after healing. hand tattoos I have even turned out better than a flower on my arm. (for clean line work, I recommend Subjective Art Tattoo artist Josh & Tiger Rose Tattoo artist Mike, I've never even had to touch up their work). right now prior to fixing it, this flower looks like a tattoo out of a basement. Unfortunately I had a reaction to the ink that this shop uses. Throughout my tat are little bumps that have been there since I got it in early march, especially where red and orange ink was used. I confirmed that it was a reaction and not something else with various other artists, and this has not happened to me on any other of my tattoos. This is very unusual for me as I don't have particularly sensitive skin or any known allergies. Along with this issue I'm not particularly satisfied with the color. There's a portion that should've been green but is very much yellow, and some of the other color work is a bit patchy. I know all of these issues could be fixed with the free touch up this shop offers but because of my issue with the ink I won't be able to utilize this option. Overall I like my tattoo, the artist did an alright job, and all my issues are fixable, but it could've all gone a lot better. Not my kinda vibe and I probably won't return. read more

So happy I stopped in here for my newest ink! Kayla was able to get me in right away as a walk in on a Friday afternoon to get some text from a favorite album cover tattooed on my arm. She was friendly, helpful, and welcoming and showed me her online portfolio before I committed to the piece. I requested a splash of red behind the text (not part of the original album art) to look like blood, and she gave me a range for the price of the tattoo based on how big the blood splatter part would be. I told her the price I was comfortable with and she was able to draw something up that fit both my budget and the vision I had for the tattoo. The actual tattoo experience was by the far the easiest, least painful tattoo I've ever gotten done (and I have 11 other tattoos of varying sizes everywhere from my ribs to my hand). She was so gentle and quick that I experienced no pain at all - a first for getting tattooed! And Kayla was sweet and chatty which made the whole thing go by quickly and easily. When it was done, I was badaged with a clear bandage that looked like Saran wrap, which was awesome because I was then able to show off my new ink right away - way better than the paper towels and tape I've gotten from some shops, which are itchy and don't stay on, and then you're stuck trying to scrape tape residue off the next day. After everything was finished, she provided me with aftercare instructions and her card. I'm very pleased with my new ink and hopefully I can return here for more awesome tattoos in the future! read more

Got tattooed by Rebecca for a Halloween flash sale- it was gorgeous! I've been to about 6 different shops prior and this was the first time I've ever had NO COMPLAINTS with a tattoo. It looks like a sticker that's how good it is. Theres maybe one teensy tiny blowout but I scrutinize any tattoo I get, that's just how I am. Compared to some other random tattoos I have, this one just blew my mind. I went back a few months later to see Rebecca for another one of her flash designs and she killed it!! I am obsessed with the craftsmanship of the most beautiful tattoo design I've ever seen in my whole life. She's super fast too- which is really a bonus when you're paying for hourly work. I don't think I'll ever go to another tattoo shop. Only downfall is parking :( but I just learned to get dropped off to avoid that jazz. read more

What an incredibly tattoo shop with such fun energy and vibes (see attached toilet poster I found in the bathroom lol). Kayla was my artist. She took several photos of my arm and my preexisting ratio, and sketched a design on her tablet. The result with this infusion of technology was a perfectly aligned ratio that fit well and was drawn specific for my measurements and diameter. I brought in several idea photos which she looked at seriously to understand what I desired and worked with me to create a unique design. I receive so many complements on this tattoo! Very frustrated that they do not answer their phones. I had a consultation appointment that I made 3 months ahead and put in my phone calendar. I thought it was kind of weird because I didn't get any sort of reminder or confirmation close to the appointment so I decided to call just to double check. I am not exaggerating when I say I called them 7 times at various times throughout the day an hour apart. They never answered.... I had also emailed them since they weren't answering the phone and I got an email back about 30 min before my appointment. When I got there, the door was locked and it said you had to call them on the phone to let you in. Surprise, they didn't answer the phone... so I waited outside in the cold for 20 minutes, Trying to get ahold of someone to let me in. Eventually someone walked by and let me in. Very frustrating. Definitely won't be coming back to this shop just based on that. The artist herself was very nice. She is starting her own shop so I will be following her. read more

Just got my second Tattoo from Minneapolis Tattoo on Lyndale. And this is my 7th Tattoo, I can honestly say I will always recommend checking out this shop. The vibe is friendly and welcoming, while being professional. The shop it's self is very clean and in a space where it is possible to feel comfortable and not worried about the over all experience. I will be getting more art work done in the future and will be going back. The artists there all have books of art work they have done and are usually booked out weeks in advance so making a appointment and consultation is highly encouraged. We booked two artists for a group Tattoo and they were able to help us with that also. My friends and I had a wonderful experience and it is helpful to note that this is a woman owned and run business. read more

This joint is awesome. Nikki, the owner, is chill as hell and takes her time to work on the design with you. I walked in pretty late in the evening and she was immediately willing to do the job even if it meant she had to stay a little later. Super clean facility with good equipment. They also use a nice film that's not cling wrap...it's an adhesive that that protects the tattoo while still letting air in. Great experience with fantastic artists who value their customers. Nikki did a fantastic job taking my idea and turning it into an amazing interpretation and work of art better than I even imagined! Her line work is impeccable and clean, the watercolor is gorgeous and I get complements literally in every city I travel to. Plus her personality and laughter made the experience very fun compared to other artists I've worked with. The shop is clean, the layout and decoration are unlike anything I've ever seen in other shops, and the entire staff is fun, creative, courteous. I got a tattoo by Kayla almost a year ago. I had an idea of what I wanted and showed her a few pictures thinking she would help me with a design. Not the case. She took one of the designs and copied it. No originality whatsoever. The whole tattoo took about ten minutes and cost $90. I felt like I was just another customer. Now looking at the tattoo, there are areas where the ink is missing and bumpy lines. This was a terrible experience for my first tattoo. Won't be going back for another. A friend and I got tattoos here and mine is very blotchy and the line work isn't good. They were also very over priced for what I got. I have many tattoos and haven't experienced anything quite like this. My friends tattoo is terribly over worked and ended up infected and possibly scarred because of it. Taylor was super awesome to work with! I didn't have a super specific image to give her, just gave her the idea of what I wanted and she drew up multiple options in various styles for me to choose from. Through no fault of her own, turns out i'm pickier than I thought and changed the style completely. She took it all in stride and ended up redrawing it completely. She was super fun and made me really comfortable with the whole experience. The shop is badass and clean with a surprising amount of space! 10/10 experience. I brought a few friends in with me for moral support and one of them ended up getting a tattoo by Taylor because she had some free time and had a great attitude about our neediness. I was feeling super positive and very excited to bring my idea into the owner, Nikki, and when I arrived for my scheduled session with her (with pictures and brainstorming ideas ready) she seemed disinterested and immediately started trying to talk me out of getting the text I had worked so hard to choose and design (it was in my grandparent's handwriting) - she said, "I could do stuff like that all day" and then started suggesting other things and when I told her I wanted to go with my original concept she told me it would cost $250 (for just the text). I left MPLS Tattoo feeling super disappointed/discouraged after what I thought was going to be a fun and inspirational planning session. I ended up going to a different tattoo shop and got exactly what I wanted for $80. Based on her portfolio, she looks like a talented artist (that's why I chose her to begin with) but her attitude and the tattoo prices made going to MPLS Tattoo not worth the hassle. read more

This is the first review I have ever written so that says something. Every tattoo I have gotten has been very small and minimal and I have really liked my experience here until trying to get a touchup the past few months. I called back in April hoping to get one of my tattoos touched up which is smaller than a quarter before moving in July. I was told I couldn't get in which I understand people do book up and though I know the tattoo itself only took about five to ten minutes there is a setup and take down time as well, I would think I would be able to get in on a cancellation since any other tattoo would probably take more time than mine to be touched up due to its size. I have had yet to get a call from the "waitlist" I was put on. I called again to hopefully get in now that I know I will be home for thanksgiving. Yet again, can't get in. I suggested end of December since I will be home then but nope, nothing. Who I spoke with was very nice but as someone who comes from a background of working directly with customers, I would think I would be able to get in for something that is so small and in this six month time frame that I have called. Starting to feel like if I were getting a new tattoo they would find a time for me but because it's a touch up and free of charge, they don't seem to care. Hopefully they can provide better service in the future so that they can create returning customers rather than one offs. read more
