I switched to this dental office last year because they offer free whitening. I have only been there twice this year and my appt tomorrow for a cleaning is going to be 299.00 They said i maxed out my limit for the year but have been going to dentists all my life, had x rays deep cleanings with the same insurance and never maxed out my benefits. They have to be charging exorbitant charges I am done with this dentist and will not go back. This place is so trash! This is the SECOND TIME I've had a terrible experience and I'm officially done with this office. My appointment time is 4p and I arrive 15 minutes early which is asked of me to update unnecessary paperwork. I walk in and I'm told there is a 30-35 minute wait. I leave work early and I have a child to pick up by a certain time. But if I were to cancel less than 24 hours I would be charged $50. PLEASE DO BETTER CONSIDERING PEOPLE AND THEIR TIME!!! Bunch of dental crooks in dental clothing. Called dental health care provider(Delta)BEFORE going to this office to determine my coverage and benefits. Then called this crook office to specifically inform them what the insurance company said that I was entitled to a basic cleaning they said no problem. Get there an India doctor spend all of 10 mins with me but refused to give the basic cleaning as the appt. was set for this day. Instead of basic cleaning that I was entitled, scheduled for and pre arranged, this crook office tried to upscale me on more expensive treatment costing upwards to $2100. Today charged $430 just for xrays and a 10 min visit from a highly questionable dentist in this office. Bunch of crooks at Mint Dental Office, only in it for the money, high costs, low professional service and will not provide just the basic cleaning without trying to cram more money out of the insurance or dental patients. Definitely am going back! I needed a new dentist and decided to go here and it was very impressed. It did take longer than expected but the waiting room was very nice and modern. There was music and you are in your own room for your exam/cleaning. They all have a big tv in front of the chair to watch shows, movies, or listen to music. Everyone was very nice too. I've been here about five times. - more painful than it had to be (with three different dentists) -there was quite a lot of staff but only one was ever nice -had to go back twice to adjust my bite after the first one... never got fixed until I switched out of Mint -never saw the same dentist twice. They don't get to know you or your teeth. -receptionist scheduled me with a dentist not covered by my insurance so they charged me $1000. I was not made aware of this. Just got a bill. My insurance fought it and I paid nothing though. I work in customer service. I don't like writing reviews and I normally don't. But with something important like a dentist that physically cares for you and with how badly my experience with them was I figured I should. read more

Ashley, at the front desk, answered all my questions with such patience and professionalism. I had a complicated dental insurance situation, and Mint was extremely accommodating! I'll be updating my review in the near future to rate their at home teeth whitening care. The office is clean, neat, and the ambiance is so relaxing. The decor is contemporary and classy. They replaced my permanent retainer wrong and my teeth are starting to move again. I have a cavity filled here and it was the most PAINFUL experience I have ever had at a dentists office, truly traumatizing. The woman who preformed my numbing shot HAD to be doing it incorrectly because I have ever felt pain like that or straight up cried my eyes out during a service before because of the pain. I do not think that was normal at all and I have had cavities filled before and it was not nearly as painful as that. The way the staff interacted with eachother just made it obvious they didn't know what they were doing. On top of that this place is FILTHY!! Nothing is cleaned properly and there's grime and dirt and leftover teeth moulding mixture all over the counters and floors & it makes me question how clean anything else in the establishment is. I'd rather pay full price at a normal dentist without insurance then come back here. I am truly scared of this dental practice if you can even call it that. read more

So mint dentistry has a beautiful facility and a friendly staff. Place has great perks while in the dental chair! Pandora, Netflix, Hulu, beats headphones and a dental chair that massage as you lay there. Staff is friendly but that where the highs stop. Unfortunately, I could see exposed plumbing pipes coming out of the wall about 2 ft before they disappeared back into a cabinet. Is the building lipstick on a pig? Secondly the Dr was quick and answered questions but seemed to be in a rush. Said I had 3 cavities that need filled and a possible root canal and or a crown on another tooth. They the. Cleaned my teeth and had a financial lady come in and explain costs and the huge out of p let savings if I joined the smile club. Seemed kinda fishy but I haven't been to the dentist in 10 years. So I went with it and set up another appointment in a week to have cavities filled and crown/root canal done. I started to have second thought and requested the xrays since they never showed me in the office and sent them to a family friend who recommended me seeing another dentist near me. Turns out I have 4 cavities and no root canal or crown needed. Just a filling. Also the other dentist noticed that a clinched and grind my teeth and discussed a moth piece to protect my teeth as well as other preventative methods to take care of the wear on my teeth. How was this missed!? As well they looked at my teeth and took digital pictures of my teeth to show me the cavity and wear unlike mint. The other dentist walked me through this is the cavity, here is wear etc etc. I could see the issues and understand them. Then She proceeded to show me build up on my teeth when I was cleaned 4 days prior! How did mint not mention hey, a basic clean won't get the job done we recommend the deep clean since it's been a while since you've been to the dentist and you have a good amount of build up!? Now let's talk cost. Mint is expensive! They charge my insurance a lot more than this other dentists office charge plan. I won't be back. Please do your research on cost and care. Mint sees as many people in one day as physically possible and examinations feel and appear rushed. This may be the place for you but not the place for me. STAY AWAY. If they tell you you need a "deep cleaning" RUN. This is the latest scam from dentists to upsell you on procedures. When I came here, I was 24 years old and considerably healthy. They said I had signs of periodontitis and needed to do a deep cleaning which requires anesthesia. Obviously scared and naive, I went through with it. Very painful but I trusted them. Fast forward a few months, I spoke with another dentist off-hand about this, and they said it was completely BOGUS and that chain offices like this will trick you into procedures to meet quotas/get more sales. No discussion as to why they are ever running behind and what's even more interesting is the hygenists and dentists walk around like this is normal and you're the one who has the issue when you voice a concern as to how long you've been waiting. And please note this was my first time visit and just a basic cleaning! The dentist I saw said I had impeccable hygiene so I have zero issues with needing a crown or filling. Cannot imagine the poor patients that do!! I feel for you. I rescheduled my appointment after waiting the first time to be seen for 30 minutes because they again said "first appointments take over an hour." Interesting because that was never mentioned to me upon making this appointment. Second appointment I got to wait for 45 minutes this time because they "had to get a room cleaned" and "were thrown off because one of their operating computers was down" Here's the real deal. Lets just start by saying - I STILL HAVE A TEMPORARY TOOTH IN MY MOUTH. Thursday August 24 at 1 pm I had an appointment for a check up. I knew I had one bad tooth that would need a root canal, so agreed to this. THis root canal took from 1 pm - 6 pm. The dentist performing the root canal did not know what she was doing and kept having to ask the other dentist what to do and finally the other dentist came to fill where the canal was. The dental assistant had to take the items out for the root canal, opened a tote and the items to do the procedure were spread all over the cabinet, like someone had dumped a tote. I had heard about this on the radio and could not wait to go there, not going to my regular dentist. when I walked in the staff rudely greeted me. I then sat down and the furnishing looked very cheap, the rug in front of the couch was white and shedding. It as all over the floor and looked like that floor had not been swept in days. Also the room where I sat to get my root canal, the entire time I was looking at a filthy floor, bugs and dental items against the baseboard below the window... like it had never been swept. After 5 weeks I called the office to find out if my crown came in, the lady rudely said, no it had not and we will call you. October 7 I was at my husbands dental appointment at Ideal Addison, they were so professional, the office was clean and they were so nice. I called Mint to be told they were closed on the weekend, the man that answered the phone was very nice, and took my info and told me someone would get in touch with me Monday. well a week has gone by, it is now October 17th, NOTHING from MINT DENTAL. I dont know what to do, as I dont want to call the nasty attituded people in the office back, and the home office did me no good. I am going to call my insurance company tomorrow to see if they have been paid for my crown. Please do not waste your time with these people. I got no teeth whitening stuff either as the ad said. After x-rays the dentist found every filling she could and told me ALL of them needed to be replaced. $3000 in dental work. Went to another dentist and was told I had one cavity and one filling that needed to be fixed. DO NOT USE MINT!! I decided to give MINT a try and at first everything was great. Had my first visit, the staff was very nice, got a cleaning and scheduled my next appt six months out. I returned on my next scheduled cleaning appt. only to find out I now 'have FIVE cavities that all need filling'. I was beyond shocked when they told me this. I asked the doctor 'how do I have five cavities now, and six months ago I had zero?'... the response was 'oh you had them last time you were here and we were keeping an eye on them'.... WHAT??? I don't even know where to start with a response like that. They offered to go ahead and fill 2 of them while I was there and since I didn't want to take more time off from work I hesitantly decided to proceed. When I left I had a horrible feeling something wasn't right. Needless to say I found a new dentist and got a second opinion (especially since I wasn't able to chew on that side of my mouth since the fillings were done). Turns out, I have ZERO cavities and the reason I couldn't chew on that side of my mouth is because the fillings were done incorrectly. After getting these fillings corrected with my new dentist I spoke to some coworkers about what happened and one had a VERY similar experience at MINT. "Meh. I've experienced better" is the perfect example for this office. The office was clean and had all the fun technological gadgets and the nurses/hygenists or whatever were very kind and friendly. My appointment was from 9:30 and I was there until noon (excessive I'd say... longest dentist cleaning of my life). I did get free whitening trays with my PPO insurance, which was an easy process if you've ever got impressions before. The doctor gave me this whole show about telling me how to use them and how there are a variety of doctors at the office so I'll never see the same one - BUT its to better help us because there are more opinions. Not sure if that's even remotely true. I got a cleaning and was told I needed three crowns, which I've never needed before. I instantly went to get a second opinion and my second opinion indicated I don't have a single cavity so all three crowns were unnecessary. With my PPO insurance my out of pocket amount PER crown was still about $400 each. That would be a whooping ~$1200 for crowns I don't think are necessary. Their pre-insurance and out of pocket amounts were higher than any other office I've been to. I did like how transparent they were with the cost up front, but it was too high. Overall I didn't really enjoy my experience. I needed a basic cleaning and sat around on a Thursday for three hours. My cleaning was alright, nothing spectacular and took all of about 20 minutes. The doctor seemed like he was putting on a show and the costs were higher than other offices I've been to. I won't be returning (even if I do need crowns.. I'll go somewhere else). I do see others having similar issues on here and that their overall rating is high due to their incentives for clients to write reviews (extra free whitening). read more

Wanted to share my experience with Mint Dentistry. The time before last that my wife went to the office. Dr. Shin worked on her and dropped an instrument on her face causing a bruise just under her eye. Because of this we asked that she have a different Dr. the next time we went back this past week. During the next appointment however, Dr. Shin also walked in and assisted with the cleaning. My wife was upset about this but did not want to say anything to her directly and told me, I mentioned to the front staff and they said that they did have a popup informing them of the request but that they were short staffed so the Dr. Shin was helping with cleanings. My wife told the person there why she didn't want her to work on her anymore because of the injury she suffered. Today, we got three certified letters and three regular letters from Dr. Shin basically kicking us out of the practice and saying we would be "better served" at another dentist. This was for me, my wife and my 9 year old son. There was no yelling or scene caused at the office to premeditate this so I am surprised to see this letter today. Instead of taking responsibility for her mistake, Dr. Shin would rather just tell long time patients to go to another practice. Have never been treated so poorly by a company and would not recommend anyone go to this location. Besides the above, the wait times can sometimes be long and you never get to see the same person. There is always someone different working on your teeth so you don't build up any relationship with them and to be honest I have had much better cleanings at my previous dentist before they closed. The office is nice looking and the front staff is friendly but the lack of consistency and their handling of this situation makes me not recommend them at all. read more

I had an appt. last week and was there on time--they didn't have my insurance right and then made me wait in the lobby for 40 mins without any regard for my time--the young kids who work in the front just laughed and played around without any thought of doing their job by letting me know when I would be seen--I told the girl that I was leaving and she asked if I wanted to rescheduled without an apology or explanation--I told her no, I would not be returning as a patient and she said ok... I visited Plano location on the 14th. I do not have any medical issues and do not take any medication. I was there to get a root canal, but ended up not needing it and got fitted for a crown. The numbing meds and pain meds that was prescribed had my skin irritated (red and itchy) and in addition to drying me out. Instead of assisting me, I was told their meds will not affect me and it maybe a more serious issue and that I need to speak with my primary physician. REALLY!!!!!! 2nd issue was the billing. Instead of looking at what I was charged I was told they will look into it and again I was wrong to think they did something wrong. This was my 2nd time inquiring about this and I have get to get an updated receipt. This is unacceptable and because of this, Mint Dentistry will not have my business in 2019. read more

Best dentist visit I've ever had! This review is actually for the FRISCO, TX location ( not Plano) but since the location is very new... it didn't come up on Yelp. It was beautiful inside, extremely nice staff and very modern technology. They offered beverages, beats by Dre headphones and an iPad while i wait. They have state of the art equipment and The most comfortable chairs. Once I got to the room, there were options on my tv to watch Hulu, Netflix, YouTube or listen to Pandora. The staff were literally incredible.... friendly and very knowledgeable. I am one who enjoys the dentist anyway but I had the best dental experience ever here. I went in for my preventative care and Im EXTREMELY upset after settling home after my cleaning today . I decided to have a apple and peanut butter snack before bed and I be damned if a piece of my tooth broke off in the midst of me eating and I almost chocked on my piece of tooth and the apple!I really thought my apple was contaminated or something crazy but then I look in the mirror and there is a huge piece of my tooth really missing!!! I'm in such a panic and in so much pain! I tried to finish my apple and its so painful on that side!!! And it seems I have a bigger issue I DO NOT have the time for right now! And for the first time in my life I'm having dental pain and a weird metallic taste in my mouth!!!!! To make matters worst I did leave the office a bit upset in the first place but got over it because they were out of whitening stuff and I was told to come back the next day to get my complimentary whiting , keep in mind the main reason I tried this place is because the whiting is free with PPO dental. upon check in I asked about the whitening and the girl confirmed it was free with my cleaning but ... failed to tell me they were out! In hopes of finding a dentist closer to my new area, I decided to give Mint Dentistry a try for routine cleaning. The office is very nice. I had zero wait time as I was the first patient in the door. As the front office, the back is just as amazing. The x-ray tech quickly explained what she would be doing. The x-rays, videos, headphones and netflix were definitely appealing. The hygienist was friendly and made good remarks on my overall dental hygiene. Then came the dentist. He overlooked the x-rays, did some digging and made his recommendations. My treatment plan was $1979 with my total out of pocket cost over $1000. Something about this didn't sound right as I religiously visit my dentist for checkups/cleanings every six months and stay on top of my oral hygiene after years of issues. I walked out the door without committing to anything and made a mental note to go back to my old dentist. Six months later, my dentist confirmed I have zero cavities and definitely no crowns that need to be redone as suggested in my treatment plan from Mint Dentistry. While Mint Dentistry is nice with all the bells and whistles in office, I'll make the 35min drive to my trusted dentist with no entertainment. read more

I'm sure this place is perfectly fine for routine dental maintenance, cleanings, etc...but if you have more serious dental issues, avoid at all costs! I went in with an abcessed tooth which ended up with me having to have two teeth extracted. They talked me into implanting bone grafts where they extracted the teeth in order to save the shape of my face and make it easier to install implants once everything had healed. An hour after I left, I noticed the stitches in my gum line had come loose. I immediately called them to express my concern and they told me it was nothing to worry about. I questioned their response and got the dentist on the line who told me the same thing. A week later at my follow up visit, I expressed my concern about my gums not being connected where the stitches had come loose. I could actually feel the bone graft totally uncovered and exposed. They didn't seem to be concerned and, after a routine cleaning, they presented me with a $10k plan to fix my teeth. This was after they had depleted my annual dental insurance max of $1,250 + over $500 out of pocket from me...in two visits. The $10k price didn't even include implants to replace my extracted teeth, just a bridge. They were ready and very eager to start the process the same day as if $10k wasn't a big deal. The guy who presented the financials to me came across as very judgemental and condescending. No financing options were presented, they just wanted my money and were ready to start taking it right away. I told them I needed time to consider the cost and talk to my insurance provider. I immediately started looking for second opinions and found a very reputable and highly rated dentist who wasn't part of a big chain who quoted me the same exact services for under $4k. I'll aso add that in the very short time between leaving Mint Dentistry and seeing my new dentist, the bone graft that was implanted at Mint literally fell out of my gumline because of the poor stitching job that was done. I would not reccommend this place to my worst enemy. They are all about marketing fluff and taking your money. If you have serious dental issues, look elsewhere! read more

I'm all for nice, clean, fancy dentist offices, but I feel like Mint is just pulling in patients off the street by offering free whitening and that's all they expect. I didn't come here because of all the commercials on the radio about free whitening (they sound almost as desperate than those attorney commercials). I came because it was time for my teeth cleaning and Mint had a nice website and appointments available. The office is very clean, the receptionists are very friendly and so was the hygienist and dentist, but I feel like Mint is trying too hard in some areas and not hard enough in other areas. It wasn't long after I arrived that I was called back and sat in a chair. A few minutes later I was gagging from that icky molding in my mouth used to create whitening trays. Well, that's nice and all, but I really only wanted to get my teeth cleaned and I felt like the process was rushed and that they're used to getting customers who only come for the free whitening. Next, it was time for my X-rays. I'm impressed with the fancy cameras and technology they have here, but every year for the past however many years I've been getting dental X-rays, the hygienist always puts the big heavy lead apron on my lap. Apparently the new X-ray machines at Mint are so advanced and great that there's minimal radiation and you don't need a lead apron. They didn't explain that to me until I asked about it. It just would have been nice to have the technology explained because most dentists still have the old X-ray machines. My teeth cleaning was fast, maybe a little too fast, but it was painless so I can't complain. Everything was fast and efficient...but instead of feeling impressed I felt like everything was rushed and sort of impersonal like I was just a customer in checkout lane. The people who work here call each other on radios when they need something, which added to the feeling of the exam room being some kind of production line. By the way, they will give you an extra whitening gel if you do a review on Google...which may explain why they have so many great reviews. They're really trying to reel people in for some reason. Pros- The office was very nice. The staff was very friendly. The equipment was state-of-the-art. Cons- The service is very slow. The first time I went in for a cleaning and it took about 2 1/2 hours. I waited in the exam room for about an hour with no explanation. The second time I returned to get cavities filled (9:30 am appt.). I waited an hour in the waiting area and decided to leave. The patients that were there before me waited an hour an a half to be seen. It seems that they overbook regularly. I won't be going back. I normally write reviews about the food I eat not the dentist responsible to clean up the mess that causes to my pearly whites. I went to Mint's Mockingbird location for the past 2 or 3 years but moved to their Plano location due to the convenience. This location doesn't have quite the same luxury feel at the other office but it's still nice and clean. The ladies at the front, the techs, the hygienists, and the dentists are all super friendly and professional. The best thing about Mint is the added touch. Need to relax? They'll turn on your chair's massage feature? Need a distraction? They have Pandora and Netflix playing above you and you pick what's on. That bright dentist light is in your eyes? They have sunglasses you can use... And keep! Don't like the sound of a drill or brush? They have Beats headphones you can use (you don't get to keep those)! Afterwards they give you a printout with your treatment plan. And if there is follow up or procedures needed they clearly indicate what your insurance will cover, what your financial responsibility is, and how urgent the recommended procedure is. Today was my first appointment at Mint dentistry and I loved it. From my first call, to walking into this location everyone has been friendly. My dental assistant Jennai, the dentist and hygienist Amanda were wonderful. Very pleasant and friendly explaining everything. I will definitely be coming back and referring my friends! I'm leaving Mint Dentistry Plano VERY PISSED this morning. I called a few friends just to see if I was tripping but I'm absolutely not. My initial cleaning with Mint was great and I left a great review. A week later I came to get a tooth pulled and that experience was cool. This third week, I came for a post-op because it's been a week and my mouth is still in so much pain that I'm up at nights and my face is still swollen on the right side. As you can imagine IM WORRIED. I'm taking 12 plus ibuprofens. My wisdom tooth removal was not this horrible before. I check into the front desk and everything's okay. They're always nice. A lady calls me back whom i have never had an experience with and tells me that she doesn't see on my notes that I've had my tooth pulled. I assuredher that I have. She's reading all the notes. Looking at all the photos. Nothing. She leaves speaks with the dental assistant (who was in the room when i got my tooth pulled) who assured her that I did and she comes back and says she sees it in my notes now... --__-- .. right... okay... whatever.... I explain to her my tooth hurts and ask her if it's normal she says no, it may be dry socket. I also inform her that it looks as if part of my tooth is sticking it of my gums. She takes an X-Ray and says she believes it's my bone. She leaves...the doctor. Doctor Margavitch supposedly looks at my x-ray but I don't know because I never seen her. This is where the majority of my problem lies. If you done work on my mouth that means i trusted you to make permenant decisions to my body. NOBODY wants a fucked up mouth. So that's a lot of trust ! Your patient is in so much pain where a week later she still can't sleep YOU should at least have the common decency to walk in the room and check on her. The lady, whom i have ZERO experience with came in explaining what the doctor told her to tell me. And no ALL OF A SUDDEN it's normal for me to be in this pain. I asked the lady "so the doctor who actually removed my tooth doesn't even have the courtesy to come in here and look at it herself ? Or tell me herself ?" She says "Dr. M" looked at the x-ray and doesn't need to... it's called customer service. Dentist are getting like beauticians. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO CARE. Just run them their money and move out of the way. If she wasn't getting paid to see me then she was not going to see me. The lady did tell me that she could ask Dr. M if she was willing to talk to me afterwards but after that point I don't want your ass to come check on me. This your work that you've done you should want to follow up. BE HUMBLE ! UPDATE 02/25/17 the "bone" that was sticking out. I got tired of the pain and pulled it out myself with tweezers today because i seen that it wa a moving ! PAINFUL ! But after I done that, like magic, no more pain. And it was part of my tooth !
