We were pleased with the food, however, we were treated with callous disrespect when we were encouraged to leave the restaurant at 9:40 PM before we had finished dining and before the advertised closing time of 10 PM. Without any explanation or apology carry out containers were tossed on the table, no offering was made for dessert. I did ask the manager if the restaurant offered dessert as we were being ushered out and he replied "yes we do, I'm so sorry." What a great little find. The restaurant is clean, open, and well lit for lunch. The staff is exceptionally polite and very efficient. The bathrooms are spotless. If I were to guess I'd say they got wiped down between guests. I had the paneer tikka masala at a five spice level. I've had this dish all over the country as well as prepared by friends from India, Pakistan, and Nepal. This meal was spot on. The real deal. The paneer just the right texture light without falling apart. The rice was perfect. And the naan light and fluffy with just the right crunch. What an amazing surprise. Fresh and tasty! To begin with, they had very good soup - right amount of cream, spices and thickness. I am pretty sure this is the best soup I ate in any Indian restaurant in the US. The chutneys were very fresh. I've had tasty chutneys at other restaurants but this one was both tasty and *fresh*. The pakodas (breaded deep fried veggie fritters) were yum! It was raining at that time and there are only few dishes that can beat hot tasty pakodas. And these guy did justice. The naan (bread) was OK. No complaints but I've had better ones. Great service usually means great food. Mint has great service, even on a early and slow Sunday evening. Had garlic naan and lamb Dahl, American hot. Naan was just like I love it, warm, almost charred in a few areas, loaded with garlic and a touch of buttery oil. Lamb was spiced just like I expected & wanted. Without requesting it, I was presented with additional spice that I tried very judiciously. Lucky me. American TOO HOT! This Indian restaurant was horrible and engaged in very unprofessional and antiblack behavior. As a result, I will not be returning and will encourage my Appalachian State University colleagues and students to boycott them. My friends and I (all university professors who happen to be Black) showed up for dinner, because the restaurant does not take reservations. We placed our name on a list to wait for a table. However, approximately three white couples showed up after us and received tables and we were left there totally neglected. We finally left and the bald-pate Indian manager offered a disingenuous "sorry" as we left. I know prejudice and antiblackness when I see it and this was a classic case. This was so unfortunate because I have eaten there before multiple times and have always had a pleasant experience. However, during those times, I was also with white people. We have eaten at Mint before, over a year ago. Last night we decided to go back, this time ordering from their pickup. Salmon tikka masala was delicious! The vegetarian samosa was to die for. The bhindi masala was delightfully spicy. We tried a few other things, too. Everything of course was flavorful and aromatic. Mint has excellent customer service and a relaxing atmosphere when you dine in, and they have really done a great job with setting up their online ordering system too. Wow! This rivals the best Indian food I've had in the US, arguably better, including in the NJ/NY metro area. We were completely awed by how good this food was (even by doing takeout, which sometimes can distort the quality of food). Super friendly and patient staff, as well. Phenomenal dinner ! Five vegan choices and no stressful conversations about no dairy in our food. They just get it!!! Very, very nice service. We loved that they had the brains to sit us away from the other patrons when they saw our two babies !
