PALAK PANEER
Andrea A.

Lost count of the number of people who said Mint is their favorite restaurant in Boone haha! Everything I got was delicious. The palak (spinach) paneer was flavorful & creamy, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the naan was super fluffy; the lunch combo also comes with a salad, which was pretty standard. Also got to try a little bit of other's okra curry and the tandoori trio, both of which were tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Can't comment on ambiance or service since we got takeout.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 9/10 would recommend!

When passing through Boone on our anniversary, we made a last-minute decision to try out Mint. Let me preface this review by saying that my wife and I seek out all types of Indian food wherever we range in our travels. Street style is as welcome as white tablecloth, just really love examples of both Southern and Northern Indian cuisine. We kind of blew it out since this was a special occasion, with a couple of appetizers a couple of entrees, a bottle of wine and dessert (which was gifted to us by the proprietor) [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was exemplary, ambiance was chic and modern, food was so good I made the rare mistake of eating a bit too much, and a good time was had by all![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Whatever aspect of the food business you happen to be in, please visit Mint as you pass through Boone, and take lots of notes. This family is doing so many things right that it's a little hard to separate out each redeeming quality. The net effect, however, is a dining experience that is not only worth every penny, but joyously memorable.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I went on a weekday and it was not busy, there were no lines as well.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was craving indian food but didnt have time to dine in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is very clean and service was very quick.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the samsosa chat and a noodle dish to go. The food was okay. There were not a distint taste to it that makes the place different then others. I would go back and try there other foods. Also they have a lunch buffet for $9.99.

Chicken Tikka and Naan

We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. Service is impeccable, food it always hot and delicious and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the atmosphere is pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can really tell that the staff is invested in making your experience a positive one. Try it, you'll love it!

Chicken and Shrimp Tikki, Indian Tea, chicken Krahki...

Excellent food. We had the chicken and shrimp tandoori, indian tea, paneer tikka and chicken krahki, garlic naan bread, all very well presented, tasted wonderful. Had enough to take home! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fast and friendly service, great atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Gobi Manchurian, Kachumber Salad, Mulligatwany Soup, Garlic Naan
Jeremy G.

This place was was incredible! I had it delivered one night for dinner. The flavors were so unique. I have never had Gobi Manchuri this good. The fried exterior and slightly sweet sauce reminded me of sesame chicken. The yellow lentil soup was hearty and unique. I never think to get soup when I do Indian food, but I trusted the Yelp reviews and the Mulligatwany soup did not disappoint. The cucumber salad was the weakest of the items I got, but it was nice to have something light and crunchy to balance the other textures and flavors of the meal. And at $5 for a sizable portion, I would get it again. The garlic naan bread was also very good. Nice and fluffy, slightly chewy, and just enough garlic. I personally thought the $4 price tag was high for the small portion. If the takeout amount is the same as they give at the restaurant, I would not recommend one serving per person.

They are smaller portions similar to a tapas style and shared. Many of the dishes the spice level cannot be adjusted. We started with the Matchstick Okra. They are sliced so thinly and deep fried making them crispy with Chaat Marsala and salt for seasoning. Delicious and couldn't stop eating them. Ordered the Butter Chicken which was tender and lovely while family had the Saag Paneer which had some spice to it. Our waitress was working in helping guide with dietary restrictions and spice level tolerances. The restaurant is beautiful and very colorful.

So, while waiting we went upstairs for unusual cocktails: tamarind margarita and Kashmiri sunset. Both delicious and tasted of Indian spices. And because it's Friday, the remarkable vegetable Pani puris were available. Wow: we ate five and could have just eaten those for dinner. Go on Friday or Saturday! But we headed downstairs and ordered three items: Matchstick okra: One of the most unusual foods I've had in a restaurant. Simply delicious. Holy smokes! Uttapam: a vegetable pancake that was very tasty. Sort of like a fritter. Butter chicken: accompanied by a tray of add-ons, this was just a wonderful hearty dish. The atmosphere is loud and bright, with lots of colors. But it is not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Highly recommend: I've been to maybe 20 Asheville restaurants and this is in the top two or three.

South Indian cuisine but not just vegetarian they also serve meat too…read more Located in a busy shopping center they have a nice patio and pretty big inside seating area with booths and tables. Service was good and they were very polite. There was something about this place that just didn't sit right. Not sure what it was. We all ordered dosas with different fillings. A south Indian staple. Crispy thing pancake type but paper thin stuffed with usually potatoes but here they had so many different things to pick from, eggs, cheese, chicken tikka, etc . I had a masala dosa which was traditional spicy potato filling served with chutneys and Dahl. Others on the table had the chicken tikka masala and the chicken keema which is ground chicken . They were all tasty. The Dahl dipping sauce was good. The chutneys also tasty. The dosa itself was very oily and didn't stay crispy like others I've had before. This was kinda disappointing and I didn't end up eating most of it because it was soggy. The filling was also nice and spicy. We all kinda felt that way about the dosas. Also had a plain naan, which was kinda flat not puffy and crispy, which makes me believe they don't have a tandoor to make naan like most places do. Shame really . We also tried the medu vada, served with Dahl to dip into also these are fried dough but spiced . They were ok. Nothing spectacular. Anyway they have a pretty extensive menu and seem to have a good take out business . Probably not a return here for me though.

I ordered the honey cauliflower, garlic naan, veggie samosa, chicken lollipops, crispy okra, and paneer saag. A friend recommended this place, and somehow I managed to eat all of this by myself because it was just so good! The honey cauliflower was the standout for me. The pieces were big, perfectly crispy, and had a great balance of flavor without feeling overly breaded. The veggie samosa was also really well done, with a good filling-to-breading ratio. The chicken lollipops were exactly what I was hoping for, and the crispy okra was another highlight because it wasn't weighed down by too much breading. The only thing I didn't personally love was the paneer saag, but that was more on me because I didn't really read the description before ordering and it just wasn't what I was expecting. The sauce itself was really good, it just wasn't the flavor profile I had in mind. Overall, I think Taaza is hands down some of the best Indian food in the greater Winston-Salem area. Great flavors, great portions, and I'll definitely be ordering again.
