Everybody was excited to go to Mint on 7/2 and published opening hours were until 10pm. When we arrived there shortly before 9pm together with many other customers including a group of bikers they told us that they decided to close early today because they had a busy day but offer takeout - no empathy. In other words: we still want your money but we don't serve you anymore. A very disappointing and what feels like a calculated move because most other restaurants close between 8:30 and 9pm in this area. Oh yes, this place can do Indian food right. I ordered the chicken mahkani. It was so rich and thick, I just wanted to straight drink it from the bowl. I'm drooling just thinking about it. We ordered garlic naan to go with it but they served it to us before the meal with not very much naan on the plate. I would have preferred the bowl of naan we saw them serving other tables. We didn't have one particular waiter, they kept rotating and that got a bit confusing because no one person seemed to attend to us, but everyone was friendly and answered questions when we did have them. My husband and I chose this as our last date before our baby is born. The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was great. But most importantly, the food was absolutely divine. I have loved Indian food all my life. I spent time in India, and (before moving to Boone) I lived in a larger city with numerous authentic Indian restaurants. But this was the best murgh makhani (butter chicken) I've ever had! The second I finished eating it, I wished I could've eaten it again. The chicken wasn't an after-thought: you could tell time and attention (and possibly a tandoori oven) went into making it tender and flavorful. The sauce was creamy and perfectly seasoned. Even the rice tasted amazing! On top of that, the server (or perhaps the owner) was kind enough to take our picture and then try again outside to get a better one in better light. This is far and beyond the best restaurant anywhere on the east coast. Okay that's a stretch but I think it actually could be the best in western NC. The service at Mint is the best I have ever seen anywhere, you take a sip of water and it's refilled before you can put your glass back on the table. The food is incredible, I get the tried and true gobi Manchurian, garlic naan, and lamb tikka masala level 3/5 spice. The servings are quite large and I always have some great leftovers even though I am a big eater. The environment is also very nice. They recently renovated and it looks great. I cannot recommend this place enough. I dream about Mint almost every night, that's how much I love Mint. read more

Their dishes were flavorful and bursting with vibrant color. Love that they have unlimited rice . Their curry serving bowls was a bit of a mess but not a big deal. My husband and my in-laws and I are visiting a friend in Mountain City, TN and we drove to Boone for some sightseeing and shopping. Our friend loves Indian food and visits Mint whenever she is in the area, and since we are Indian she thought we would like it too. She was right! Basmati Rice flavorful with a hint of cinnamon. I wasn't going to even eat any, but once we tasted it it was hard to put down. Tandoori mixed meat was fantastic. There was tandoori sauce on the side for dipping the vegetables and meat. It was superb. We also had the mixed vegetable appetizer which was fried and extremely flavorful and fantastic. It comes with two dipping sauces, mint and a sweet sauce. The garlic nan bread was also outstanding . This was my favorite restaurants so far in Boone. I highly recommend it. read more

I'm going to go ahead and save you time on the review: we never got our food. Maybe don't go on Mondays? We came in on a Monday evening and there were only a few other tables occupied. The placed smelled amazing and we were excited for Indian food. We checked the menu and made our orders - a curry entree, a tandoori entree, and two orders of naan. While we waited, the restaurant slowly started to fill. Let me tell you that the to-go orders were also steadily flying out the door. There were four people moving about the main part of the restaurant, with one of them handling the phone and register. A couple who came after us got an appetizer when we had been waiting over 40 minutes. At the hour mark, I stool up and told the cashier I think we were going to have to head out. I was not rude or angry, and just told him we had been waiting a while. He asked to let him go check the food and came quickly back to tell us it would be one minute. He looked me deep in my two eyeballs and told me one minute, so we sat back down. About seven minutes later, another table who came after us was given garlic naan, which we had ordered. The guy was just walking around with bread and asking who ordered it. So I got up again to walk out. When the person who I assume was the manager stopped us he said that their head chef was out on Mondays. I don't understand how the head chef being off contributed to the experience we had, honestly. Just close on Monday if you cannot supply customers? I definitely don't have the answers, but you may be wondering why I gave it a 2/5? Two of the servers were kicking butt, and filled out water glasses three times over the course of our visit - so the two stars are for them. read more

Tasty food, but not trustworthy as gluten-free. We've visited this restaurant 3 times. We enjoy the taste of the food and felt comforted with their gluten-free menu. My daughter has Celiac Disease so ingesting gluten can make her very sick. On the third visit, my daughter ordered a menu item that claimed to be gluten-free and she also confirmed her choice would be gluten-free with the server. It was not gluten-free, she had a very bad reaction and is still recovering nearly two weeks later. read more
