Came on a Saturday around 12:30PM and were seated immediately. There were a few open tables, and we were seated behind the host stand near the door to the outdoor patio. We ordered the Pancake Flight Trio, a scramble, and a mimosa. After a little over 10 minutes, I noticed tables that were seated after us already had their drinks, so I flagged down a server to check on ours. It seemed like our drink order had been forgotten, but they quickly made and brought it out. The mimosa came in a fun tiki-themed glass with fresh orange juice. It was refreshing with a light alcohol flavor, and honestly ended up being the best part of the meal. I was most excited for the Pancake Flight Trio and chose the tiramisu, peach cobbler, and s'mores pancakes. I didn't realize you could mix and match with French toast too so that was my mistake for not paying closer attention to the menu. The portion size is generous, though. The pancakes are fairly large with lots of toppings, so it's definitely enough to share between two people. That said, I wouldn't order it again. The pancakes themselves were incredibly dry and lacked flavor. They relied heavily on the toppings, syrup, and butter to make them enjoyable. Even the part of the pancake underneath the toppings was still dry. The toppings were hit or miss. I also found it odd that all three pancakes had graham cracker crumbs and whole graham cracker. I get the cobbler and s'more but the tiramisu with graham crackers puzzled me. The tiramisu pancake didn't have any espresso powder, so it mostly just tasted like whipped cream on top. The peach cobbler topping tasted like canned peaches with very little sauce, and the s'mores pancake was overwhelmingly sweet from the Nutella, chocolate, and marshmallow. My favorite in flavor was probably the tiramisu. My husband ordered the scramble, and unfortunately it was also dry and lacking flavor. It definitely needed hot sauce along with salt and pepper. The toast came with 1 packet of butter on the side instead of being buttered already, so if you like extra butter, I'd recommend asking for more. Even after buttering it, the toast became hard pretty quickly. Overall, this brunch was disappointing. Between the forgotten drinks and food that was consistently dry and under-seasoned, it just wasn't worth it. The mimosa ended up being the highlight of the meal, and even that was just good not amazing. If someone really wanted to eat here, I'd go, but I wouldn't personally recommend it or choose to come back.
Got the Jalisco Omelette, the braised beef didn't have that much flavor, I had to add Tabasco sauce even with it covered in the chili verde sauce. My grandma got the El Dorado, she didn't like the chicken and when I tried it the meat was a bit dry, and the herb potatoes were mushy, not crispy on the outside. We took the coffee cake to go, but when we ate it, we thought it was super dry, and the crumble on top was hard and not crumbly like you would expect (we didn't finish it even when washing it down with coffee). The ambience of the restaurant was good, and service was great. The menu options has good choices, and I've been to the Castro Valley location. I just might try another menu item if I decide to give the San Mateo location another chance.
came here for brunch with work colleagues. this spot is busy so we made advance reservations so our table was ready upon arrival. The staff were accommodating and attentive. they are all efficient and very friendly. The place is clean and well Maintained. They have quite a lot of selections of drinks and foods on their menu and it was difficult to decide what I wanted. But I elected for mimosa and the loco moco! We didn't wait long for our orders and they were all presented nicely and deliciously looking. We enjoyed our time and the food and drinks were on point. Had a lot of fun and will definitely be returning.
The food here was delicious! The service was pretty fast. When I went it wasn't as packed as it looks like it usually gets. They have both an indoor and outdoor seating, which is nice because the weather in San Mateo is typically sunny. I would eat here again!
I've had breakfast here a few times now and it's just okay. I came based on a recommendation of the coffee cake from a coworker. Maybe the times I went in they were just off, but the cake is often super dry and cold. (I'm not sure if it's meant to be warm, but I think it'd be better that way) The service here is very friendly, I will give them that, but they are very forgetful and slow. On my first visit, our drinks and sides were forgotten, and they were very slow to come to check on us. Same issue on my second visit with a larger group (5 people) drinks and toast/cake missed. The food is also just okay. I've had the steak bowl and one of the benedicts and they were just a little bland.
Yum! This place was pretty good overall. We loved the outdoor atmosphere and the nice weather. We came on a Saturday around 10 AM and were seated right away. We ordered the latte flight, mango margarita, pancake trio, breakfast burger, and a side of biscuits and gravy. The latte flight was the highlight! All the lattes tasted great, looked cute and for $25 it felt worth it. The breakfast burger was also really good: juicy, flavorful, and huge. Out of the pancake trio, the s'mores pancake was definitely the tastiest compared to the banana apricot and blueberry cream French toast. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the biscuits and gravy. The first order came out with two burnt, hard biscuits, which we sent back. The staff was super apologetic and replaced them, but even the new order still wasn't very good. The drinks and food did take a little while to come out, but honestly it wasn't a huge issue since everyone was so friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Would deff come again!
I came on a random weekday and it wasn't crowded at all. It immediately caught my attention with the cute umbrellas and outdoor sitting, I believe it was all pink. Inside was so cute too, very clean and super bright. Our waitress seemed to be new, but was able to still provide a wonderful experience nonetheless. I think they had ran out of biscoff latte or something and I got the honey graham one instead. It was okay, I likely won't get coffee there again. My breakfast was wonderful though! Can't wait to go back.
Been wanting to try this place for awhile. Got to celebrate an early bday with my family..the service and food were amazing! We tried probably the whole menu between our huge party! Everything was hot, fresh and delicious! We will be back again for sure even though we live in the deep east bay!!
NEW Breakfast Spot with the best flight options @breakfastclubmidtown is definitely the place to go with friends and family to start the day off right. They have mimosa, coffee, AND pancake/french toast flights. An indecisive persons dream or even if you're looking to share (portions are HUGE). They have such a variety on their menu, there is something for everyone The service is amazing, shoutout Jonathan! And the space is so open and clean. Will be back !
What a cute brunch spot! The aesthetics were charming, both in the restaurant and on the patio, and service was fairly attentive despite the Saturday morning rush. The food was good, I went with the chilaquiles (green salsa) at the strong recommendation of the server and was not disappointed. My only note is that having so many screens all on March madness in a brunch spot felt a bit unusual, but if that's your cup of tea, this place is definitely it.

First time eating here and we were really satisfied. We had driven by this place several times and today we decided to try them out, and so happy we did. The restaurant is spacious with outdoor seating. We arrived almost at closing time but we were welcomed to order and not rushed to leave. Our server, Jonathan was very nice and offered suggestions on the menu. The food was delicious and filling. They have a large menu of breakfast and lunch entrees and suprised at how much food we received. If you are in the area, give them a try, you will not be disappointed.
2.75 stars rounded up. Though the Breakfast Club serves the same menu & maintains the same "brunch" hours during the week, weekends are understandably busier. We were greeted by a super awesome hostess (she also checked on us during the meal), & were seated within half an hour. While we couldn't ask for anything more from their waitstaff, the food left much to be desired. I wasn't fond of the overwhelmingly-tangy red sauce on the chilaquiles ($21), & overall, my order didn't have a lot of textural variety; sadly, it was a big plate of mush. On the upside, this dish does come topped with beef short ribs & eggs so you're getting a good hit of protein for the price. Initially, my group took interest in the Midtown Trio of any pancake or French toast on the sweets menu, but after our savory dishes proved lackluster, I insisted on dessert elsewhere.

The Breakfast Club @ San Mateo location has a nice ambience with a spacious setup and both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is lively, although the music can be quite loud. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. After we were seated, no one came back to take our order or even offer water for about 15-20 minutes. When I eventually gave the server feedback about the long wait, the response came across as somewhat rude and dismissive rather than apologetic. The food itself was average--nothing particularly memorable--and one of the items we ordered was completely missed. Overall, the place has a good setting and potential, but the service, food quality and attention to customers need significant improvement. For a breakfast/brunch restaurant in a great location, I would expect much better hospitality and order accuracy. read more

I had a very enjoyable experience eating outdoors here on Monday morning. The service was prompt and attentive. I had the omelet with Chicken apple sausage and house potatoes and coffee. The presentation was beautifllul and the food was delicious. The fresh avoacado on top was perfect read more

For a breakfast place this felt very much like a sports bar. The acoustics in here make the place very echoey, so it gets pretty loud and hard to hear people at your own table. The menu has many options which is nice. I like that you can mix and match the Benedict's or the pancakes. My friend ordered a veggie omelet and thought it was just fine. The potatoes were probably the most delicious part of the entire meal. Great job. Unfortunately I found a large piece of plastic in my crab Benedict and there was cream cheese in it after I politely ordered it without (it makes me ill) The server took it off our bill but seemed very annoyed by it. Despite the pancakes looking very good they all fell short on the wow factor. I've had better elsewhere. I think some people might enjoy this place, but I myself was not impressed and probably won't be back. read more

This is a great place for brunch. The menu is varied and I have yet to be disappointed! I was last there in May and can't find the photos! It was my 2nd or 3rd time returning after my first visit and I traveled from SanFrancisco to go here! read more
We got 3 things on the menu, the sandwich, steak and eggs skillet and tiramisu pancake. I think overall the food is not bad and portion is pretty good. But I wouldn't say this is the brunch place I crave for. Service was amazing and ambiance is great for a sat gathering with friends and family! read more
I first encountered The Breakfast Club at its original location in San Jose many years back and despite only have their food one time, was impressed. The Breakfast Club's expansion has been quick and equally impressive, and I am happy to report, at least at the San Mateo location, the quality has stayed top notch, too. What I love about TBC is not only the menu's vastness, but the ability to customize and combine different elements into one dish. You can mix-and-match two different Benedicts or three different pancakes or two pancakes and one waffle, etc. It's amazing. You can also get coffee cake on the side of your breakfast instead of toast and yes, that is very indulgent but damn is it so cinnamon-y and delicious. My favorite burger of all time is the rodeo/western style popularized by Burger King and offered at most contemporary burger-centric restaurants. So naturally, when I saw the Cowboy benedict, with steak, onions rings, and BBQ sauce, I had to try it. I swapped out the blue cheese for cheddar cheese to keep it faithful to my favorite burger, and it was perfect. I have never had anything quite like this fusion of flavors and I would order it again in a millisecond. I paired it with the crab cake Benedict and no surprise, it was also fantastic. What a downright delight of a meal. It was my birthday so I also ordered the Midtown Trio for the table featuring three different pancakes -- blueberry lemon ricotta, s'mores, and Biscoff. All were excellent but that s'mores really brought the big birthday fun. The hash browns are also great and the coffee refills never stopped coming due to the attentive service. The Breakfast Club is the perfect casual spot for a hearty fun brunch with something on the menu for sweets lovers, savory freaks, and vegans, alike! read more

Met a good friend and her baby here for a midweek breakfast. This is a new location for the chain and we wanted to check it out. Our poor server was the only one on the floor, so understandably things took a bit of time and there were a few small issues, such as receiving the wrong kind of eggs, asking for an item that had been forgotten, etc. I ordered a chicken fried steak, which did not come out hot and looked better than it tasted. The side of coffee cake was warmed, but microwaved so that it instantly went chewy and hardened when it immediately cooled. I don't think it bothers most people, but I have a weird thing about not microwaving baked goods because it changes the texture, so next time I'll just ask to have the coffee cake cold. Appreciate that there's an extensive menu, so I'll have the opportunity to try other items when I come back. read more

It was our first time trying the breakfast club over the weekend for brunch and it was really good. My friend and I shared the loco moco and the chicken katsu Benedict. Unreal. Both dishes were really tasty. I find that anytime I go somewhere with loco moco on the menu, I have to try it. Service was OK. My two friends ordered coffee and I ordered a soft drink and it took quite some time for it to arrive. So much so that our food arrived before my drink arrived which has never been the case. We sat outside, which had a good sized patio. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Everyone was very sweet and attentive and our food arrived pretty quickly! The Breakfast Club was a fantastic family-friendly breakfast spot for us. We came in with my wife, our five-year-old son, and our 10-week-old baby who was asleep in a stroller. Right away, the staff was incredibly accommodating and seated us in a convenient spot in case we needed to step outside with the baby, which we really appreciated. My son ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes and they were a huge hit. The presentation was super fun with a Mickey Mouse made of pancakes, sliced strawberries and blueberries for the face, and a side of whipped cream with sprinkles. It made the whole breakfast more exciting for him and he loved it. I ordered the chicken and waffles and the portion size was massive. There were four pieces of chicken and it came with a side of gravy, which made it feel like a country fried steak was built into the dish. Everything was delicious, especially with the butter and syrup. Very filling and very satisfying. My wife had the steak rancheros cooked medium. It was also a lot of food and the steak itself was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. We did not care too much for the tortilla, but it did not take away from the overall dish. One of the best parts is the value. You get a ton of food for what you pay. There is plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, and parking around the area was easy. The location itself is cute and very convenient. We also saw several items on the menu that we already want to come back and try, including the loco moco, country fried steak, the benedicts, and the French toast. Overall, great food, generous portions, and genuinely helpful staff, especially for families with young kids. We will definitely be back soon. read more
I've passed by this restaurant many times since our office is nearby. I finally stopped in to try these guys out. They have a variety of different cuisine inspired by Hawaiian to Mexican. My buddy and I opted to try the loco moco. I thought it was overall pretty solid. The sides were flavorful. The burger patty itself could have been taken off the grill a bit sooner as part of it was a bit too charred for me. The service was great. They checked up on us often, refilled our water whenever it was needed. They made things right when my friend's meal didn't come out correctly. The place was clean. I'll definitely come back and try this out again. read more
Didn't know there was a location in San Mateo, but been to the San Jose location. It was a rough start as we came right when it opened at 7am the day before Christmas. Once we got in and we were greeted and seated. The team was very friendly and great. Got the steak omelette and it was very flavorful. Seasoned well and it paired with the hash browns perfectly. The hash browns was crispy which is rare. Love the cantaloupe garnish l. Overall a must try and I'll definitely will be back. read more

The Breakfast Club is a solid option for brunch. It is located in the Bay Meadows neighborhood with plenty of free street parking. We requested an outdoor patio table since we had a dog, which they were able to accommodate. My party of 6 was seated immediately on Sunday around 11am. Our server was friendly and the food came out fast. - Strawberry waffle - Blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes (came with 3) - Breakfast sandwich (came with fries) - Ribeye sandwich (came with fries) - Tuna melt (came with fries, upgraded to garlic fries) - Breakfast enchiladas (came with hash browns) We all enjoyed our dishes and would definitely return. read more
This place is always so good! And it's always so busy so I suggest going earlier in the morning! We got there and it was a long wait to be seated inside so we wanted to eat outside. To get our waitress was a long wait and after our experience, it was due to miscommunication because they can't see from the inside who sits outside unless the hostess tells them. But once our waitress came out she was on top of it anything we asked she was on it we loved it so much! It was great sitting outside but it did get busier even traffic wise. So a lot of traffic passed by. It was so good! I had the cafe flight ube, salted caramel, cookie butter. San Mateo desperately needed more brunch spots, so The Breakfast Club is a great addition to the area. It's located near Hillsdale across from the Roblox headquarters and we found street parking pretty easily around the apartment buildings. We visited on a Sunday around 11:15am and were seated right away at the bar with no wait for two people. We ordered the Shrimp and Crab Omelette ($22) and the Short Rib Hash ($21). Portion sizes are generous for the price and we even went home with leftovers. The short rib hash came with a large serving of tender short rib over crispy seasoned potatoes. Ask for an extra side of hollandaise sauce because I imagine it could be a little dry without it. The shrimp and crab omelette was also tasty, slightly on the drier side but nothing a little Tapatio couldn't fix. The only downside was the wait for the food. Our food took about 45 minutes to come out which was not ideal. The bartender serving us was super apologetic and checked in often which we appreciated. Overall I am glad this place opened. Good food, large portions, convenient location and we will definitely be coming back. read more

I love that they opened in this location which is really close to the mall. Parking can be a bit tricky at times though. Service is extremely friendly! I'm glad we finally have a brunch place in San Mateo that has an outdoor patio so we can take our dogs. The interior was still new and clean inside. Been to the SJ location before and I'm glad to see they opened one in the peninsula. The spicy Korean chicken fried rice was just okay. I would say stick with the tradition breakfast items here. Forgot which omelette we got, but it was quite good. Eggs were made really fluffy. read more
We came close to 1pm on a Sunday and thought we would have to wait awhile. There were several people waiting outside but we got seated indoors within 20 minutes. Our server, Barry, was excellent! He was really pleasant and very attentive. He has this positive energy that puts you at ease and just makes for a wonderful Sunday brunch experience. The food was good. I had the Chicken Apple Sausage Omelet with mushrooms, green onions, cheese, avocado, sour cream, and served with hash browns. I was happy to see the choices of hot sauces including their very own. My husband enjoyed the Shrimp & Crab Omelette with green onions, he requested the hollandaise sauce on the side. My daughter had the George Scramble with bacon, tomato, green onions, cheddar jack cheese, cream cheese, topped with avocado and sour cream. Her boyfriend had the El Dorado Skillet which had blackened chicken breast, bell peppers, onions on hash brown, topped with cheese, eggs, sour cream, pico, and guacamole. The place was hopping and the noise level was on the loud side as expected. However busy, we had our coffee cups topped off regularly. We wanted to try something on the sweet side and decided to share a Midtown Trio. We chose to try Brioche French Toast, Chocolate Chip Pancakes, and Blueberry Lemon Ricotta Pancakes. This was great advice from Barry since having the trio allows our party of four to have a taste of a variety of treats instead of having a stack of just one type. I had a wonderful experience at the Breakfast Club in San Mateo. I had been to the original location in San Jose a few years ago and was excited that they were opening one near my friends house. The restaurant is in a very nice, newer housing development with several tech companies around it. Parking can be tricky as there is no parking lot. The inside of the restaurant is big, open and quite loud. The outside area is really nice, but it was a bit chilly out for eating outside. The server was great! I missed what his name was, but he was quite charming and I loved how he walked everyone through the menu and helped us make choices. The food was all very good. The winner of the breakfast goes to their New York Benny. It was so delicious! The lox with the dill and hollandaise sauce went together so incredibly well. This is for sure what I will order there anytime. I had the loco moco, and as a whole plate it worked really well. The portion size was big! I loved Mac salad and the Sambal was great with everything. The beef patty itself was a little flavorless, but with everything else it was great! The crab cake benny was also really good. I loved how crispy it was. I also got to try the shrimp and crab omelette which was also delicious. We finished the meal with their house made coffee cake. It was warm and not dry! Perfect way to end the meal! read more
