Decent sushi? Okay, I guess? They'll do vegetarian miso-based ramen even though it's not on the menu, though, so that's a plus. Some of the fish tasted oldish. I'm not very picky when it comes to service, but I feel there are a few golden rules that shouldn't be broken. This was our first time eating here. Sunday evening not particularly busy. We were seated and then ignored for at least ten minutes. Didn't ask if we wanted drinks or anything. When our food came, everyone else's came but mine. Fine. If it's coming soon. Probably took at least five minutes for mine to come out which made everyone else at the table feel like they couldn't eat. It took forever to get the bill when we were done. We ordered delivery and are missing components of our order and had the wrong items placed in our order. For example, we asked for veggie gyoza and received pork (something I cannot eat). They also missunderstood when we asked to make sure that our rolls used Krab instead of real crab. We ended up 2 rolls of JUST krab (each costing about $10) When we called to let them know there was an issue, they said there was nothing they could do. Very bad service. I did not get my drink til after 30 min and it took 3 people to ask me what my drink order was before they could get it to me. And I only ordered a chardonnay. The food took so long about 30 min before it got to us and it was ok. The rice for the rolls were overcooked. I'm giving Mio 5 stars, because it deserves a better average. As far as american style sushi goes, this is the best place I've been to for the price. I hate rotating sushi, won't eat it. I AM PICKY when it comes to my sushi. I'm all about the quality of fish. Mio, has fresh fresh sashimi. My hamachi (yellowtail) is always amazing & the tuna is really good too. Their rolls have a lot of flavor. My favorites are the Banzai & Mt. St. Helen's. Although the sizes of rolls & sashimi are not very big, they are priced pretty decently, which makes it more affordable for families if you prefer nice fresh & beautifully displayed sushi. I also think the staff is wonderful. They are always so nice. Ive been in Mio when I was the only table in the place & when it has been at it's busiest. headed here the other night to satisfy a sushi, miso soup and cucumber salad craving and was not disappointed! everything just tastes fresh and delicious while still being pretty reasonable (helped that nothing I ordered was over $4.50 too). my husband, not in the mood for sushi, ordered the spicy beef yakisoba which was pretty good too. the service, though a bit slow at times, was also good. the friendliness of the service made up for the lack of speed at times. The sushi is mediocre. We ordered several rolls that were decent and had a Spider Crab roll that was overcooked. The ambiance of the place is on par with a crowded airport food court. It's loud and if you move too quickly you're likely to bump elbows with someone at a table next to you. The service was HORRIBLE! Not the kind of service were you think it might be better next time. We were seated then it took a long time to get someone to take our order. Items we requested when ordering were not brought. A separate server delivered our food and left quickly. Not once during our meal did anyone return to check on us, verify that our order was correct, or offer us additional beverages. In fact, I had to flag down someone just to get the ticket so we could leave. I'll never be back and would recommend just about any sushi place in the area over this one. read more

So disappointed. I found a hair in the sashimi appetizer which made the rest of the meal questionable. I especially do not want food near raw fish. Additionally, the sashimi was average--the salmon was good but thinly cut. The yellowtail was also thin and had the texture of a leather boot. The manager did nothing to make amends for the hair in my meal except to bring a new platter and say sorry. A hair in my meal should have been supplemented with the meal taken off the check or an additional platter on the house. Among the other items in our meal, the tamago nigiri was average and lacked flavor. The tofu as part of the bento box was undercooked. Mio is your average sushi place. I will typically order salmon or tuna nigiri, shrimp tempura rolls,cucumber avocado rolls and some edamame. They have good prices compared to other "average" sushi places. I have never had a bad meal at Mio, but I don't ever have cravings for it either. The service can be a bit slow at times, but the guys behind the sushi bar are really nice as well as the "beverage technician" who keeps our green tea filled to the brim. (By the way, he told me he was a beverage technician....I did not make that up). read more

Don't get me wrong, we love the sushi here. The chefs do an excellent job and we've always received fresh, quality ingredients. But the service is garbage. The worst I've seen. We walk in and it's relatively busy and there seems to be a long wait, so we settle in. There are several tables that are open. There's no hostess to greet us or tell us how long our wait will be. There were three parties in front of us and every single one of them left and gave up after an eternity of not getting seated. There's a huge table in the middle of the room with take out orders all over it, they seem more dedicated to grub hub than serving their in-person customers. So, we finally get seated after 45+ minutes of waiting. Mind you that there have been several tables open for a very long time. I asked earlier if we could sit with our one-year-old baby at one of those tables and they said either we'd be waiting at the waiting area or the table, either way we wouldn't receive service. So we finally sit down and there's no apology, no acknowledgement. The waitress touched my baby several times (she put his legs in the high chair). Which I don't generally have a problem with and I know it wasn't out of malicious intent, but it still made me a little uncomfortable. It's not that I don't recommend it, but I don't recommend going on a weekend night unless you're incredibly patient and determined to eat sushi. read more

Pretty good sushi for a pretty good price! A step above the cheap sushi-go-rounds that are everywhere in Portland. Sometimes the service leaves a little to be desired, especially when it's slow and the waitresses get sidetracked by their conversations. We love Mio's on 185th. The food is wonderful and the service is always fast and very friendly. The strip-mall atmosphere does leave a lot to be desired, so several times we've (6 at least) gone to the Mio's in the round and the service was incredibly slow, disinterested and bordering on rude. Last time was truly the last straw. My husband and I were seated and ignored for 10 minutes. Finally my husband tried to catch the eye of the waitress with a little waive. She stuck her index finger up (more "talk to the hand" than "just a second"), but finally, a few minutes later a different waitress finally arrived. The food arrived strangely out of sequence and with no explanation, and the service was just so lacking we left vowing that we will never visit that location again. Having worked in the restaurant industry, I'm usually pretty forgiving (I get it; they're really busy today. Maybe they're down a server, maybe they got an unexpected rush) but this happens every time we go to the Mio in the round. The 185th location is the exact opposite. Consistently wonderful, and Tony, the other servers and the sushi chefs are always friendly and kind. I wish they had the more desirable location; they truly deserve it! Not sure who is managing this location, but your service is abysmal. So poor that even tasty food and a beautiful location can't make up for it. We will not be back. read more

Love this place for fresh, rolled sushi. Prices have gone up since we first started going there years ago (what hasn't) but it's worth it. Mio is a staple for us of places to eat in Beaverton. Family favorite is the mio and aloha roll. read more

I've been a customer of Mio Sushi for almost 25 years. I've brought lots of people to their various locations and I've always thought their food was good but today, I was extremely irritated as after a nice workout at 24 hr. Fitness next door, I went to the one in Beaverton at "the round" looking forward to a relaxing lunch. I walked in at 2:17 and they immediately told me that they would only give me a "to go" order and all I could order there and eat there was a cup of Miso soup because they close at 2:30 :(. I'm not about to try to eat sushi while driving around in my car, so that didn't do me any good at all. Good for a diet but bad for business. I had a cup of miso and left and told the waitress I'll never come back after being treated so poorly. They lost a customer for today and they lost a "long time" customer forever. I might be off on proper etiquette but if you walk in a restaurant 15 minutes before they close, you should be able to order something and eat it there. In general, it's so irritating when a restaurant is closed for only one hour in the afternoon because unless you know that hour, if you've planned your day around going there, it completely messes up your plans. read more

Not as pricey as others in town, but I can point out a few other places that are as good without the tag. The sushi was really good and I love that they have gluten free options. I happened to come here during a last Tuesday concert in the square just outside of the building. It was really fun to be able to sit in the restaurant with the doors open watching the concert. The atmosphere in the restaurant was good as well. Despite the concert they weren't that busy and I would've given them more stars, but it seemed the wait staff were preoccupied as they did not come back to the table often and had to be flagged down on a few occasions to find out where the rest of our order was. I went to this Mio sushi about 9 months ago and brought my family, my best friend from Vegas and her son since we all felt like Japanese food. Well, from what I heard from my Husband and best friend the sushi was good, but here's the thing, all 4 kids and I don't eat sushi and after waiting 30 minutes since placing our order we asked the server if our food is coming and she say's, "oh, sorry I forgot"..... and what makes it even worse was that she comes back saying the kitchen is already closed.... really? So, all the kids and I are starving and ended up going to Burger King. I am adding an extra star for giving the kids rice with teri sauce and free Mochi ice cream. I went to Mio Sushi for lunch this afternoon due to it being very close and convenient. I heard that the place was usually pretty busy for lunchtime, but I must have caught them on an off day because there were hardly any people in the restaurant. I placed a to-go order and got my food in about 5 minutes and was out the door. My food was good, seemed to be made well, and was reasonably priced. I have absolutely no complaints. The front door faces the open area with a mini theater and fountain, where currently all the business faces are covered by construction stuff and "businesses still open" signs. But it's there. I don't know why, but everything about this location seems better than the others I've been to. The food is better, the servers have always been nice, and the bathroom has an unusual sliding door. I love sushi and seriously Mio has good Sushi. Service at most locations is also good to very good, but this location, which is close to my house, is just so slow. My rating has nothing to do with the food, because the food is really good (the reason for the 3 stars), but because of the service. The wait to have your order taken has never been a reasonable amount of time, even when there is nearly no people in the restaurant. They are just slow. We only go here when we are mentally prepared for this level of service and speed. We visit this location less an less, which is sad to me because it is so close to home.
