So sad that this Mio has become awful. Online ordering now adds 33% for no reason at all, and they still expect a sizable tip on top of their crazy, inflated prices. After you order, the restaurant always sends a second email saying it will take over an hour to prepare your sushi. Then they make you wait another 20 minutes after the delayed time because they don't appear to employ enough people. Worst of all, the quality of the sushi and other food has become worse. There are better and cheaper sushi places in town now. I hope Mio changes their seemingly greedy ways before the market puts them out of business. read more

The Yelp 3.5 rating was concerning however the recent ratings were all positive except for a food delivery person. We had the combo appetizer, a couple of drinks and three rolls. Absolutely friendly staff. Ordered 3 rolls and 2 orders of nigiri. My sister and I ordered the Joy joy, bubble bubble and volcano along with an order of seared salmon and ikura. Pickup order was ready 45 minutes after the app said it would be. When I arrived they told me it wasn't ready yet and it would take another ten minutes. It wasn't actually ready for another 30 minutes. I order for pickup using Doordash from a variety of restaurants. Spent over $150 on food for takeout. When time came to pick up, we asked for more than the 3 chopsticks provided for over 80 rolls, which clearly annoyed the servers. Asked for extra sauce given that there were 2 tiny packets, and was charged extra. The whole interaction was extremely rude and was given attitude for no reason. My husband and I have frequented this restaurant many many times over the years but the last three times we have ordered from this restaurant the fish had gone bad. Price: Expensive Mio Sushi is one of the more expensive local sushi joints in Vancouver. For example, each piece of nigiri is $2.00. Not for a plate of 2 pieces, each piece. Now the kicker... that's during happy hour when they are discounted! Don't be surprised to pay $50 for two people and still not feel satiated. Quality: You don't get what you pay for. I'd expect much higher quality/size sushi for the money. That said, the sushi was good but not great. It's the quality you would expect at any ol sushi bar. The saba seemed fresh, the fish pieces were medium sized, and for my favorite test, the Ikura wasn't cloudy or dried up and shriveled. The goma salad was too much cucumber and not enough seaweed. The rolls were a little small. It tasted fine, but isn't that the minimum expectation? It was all fine and that's the problem, there wasn't anything better than fine about it, especially considering the price. Service: They did OK. They forgot to make half my order and brought it out five minutes after initially serving us. Otherwise we got the minimum of what we should expect, nothing more. Environment: Parking spaces are small. Building inside and out looked very clean. There isn't much seating so even on a Thursday at 4pm, people were standing in line at the door waiting for an opening. A few just turned around and left. Overall: I'd recommend this place if you don't care about being thrifty and want some decent (average) sushi. I don't have anything bad to report unless you view "average" as bad. The restaurant is small and very clean, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. My complaint is about the cost. These are the prices we pay for fine sushi dining at Murata, not for a small restaurant that feels more like fast food dining inside. I ordered an albacore salad, and received maybe one piece of albacore shredded atop an entire cucumber with a teaspoon of masago for $8.50. Our miso was $2.50. The prices were about 30% more than what they should have been, considering the rest of the experience. We won't be back. read more

Some sushi rice had too much vinegar, others not enough. The tuna roll was a joke on one piece as there was so little and on the other side you couldn't even see the fish. I couldn't settle on a place to eat, and since I'm new to town I decided to go for a drive and stop wherever looked good. I saw the sign for a sushi place and stopped in. This is a nice little sushi bar with a huge selection! I would recommend taking a look at the menu before you go. I was handed a regular menu and a laminated sheet with the specials and two more laminated sheets for ordering sushi on. The best part was that the descriptions of the rolls were right on the ordering sheet with pictures! I love when there are pics of the rolls! I had an orange blossom sake drink that was really yummy and the sushi came out quick and it was really delicious. I would have given a perfect rating, but the one roll I ordered had baked salmon on top and it came out to my table so fast that the first bite burned the roof of my mouth! That roll was amazing even with a blister forming. Just note that if you order a warm roll they will get it out to you really fast even if they are fairly busy. Mio is Located in a small strip mall. The place was pretty packed for Wednesday night. The parking was not difficult at all and the service was relatively fast. I had the Happy hour sashimi and the Unagi bowl. The sashimi tasted ok, and so was the unagi, but the portions was kind of small. Terrible customer service don't go her. Upon coming in you could tell the employees were irritated by my friend and I. When asking for my order the waitress was very rude and scoffed at my requests ( I have to be careful due to severe allergies). Upon receiving my food it was apparent that she wasn't listening to some of the changes I needed to make. The sushi is (usually) okay. Not great, but good enough for a quick bite in the burbs. And it's take-out sushi, that is pretty cool! Problem is, the quick part? That is gonna be a crap shoot if you go here. Sometimes they are way, way off on their estimate for how long an order will take to prepare. For example, we just waited 75 minutes for an order that we were told would be ready in 30-35 minutes. It is ridiculous to expect take-out customers to wait this long for food, and to provide such a wildly inaccurate estimate. And we weren't exactly the only ones who experienced this. This was an unusually bad one, sure, and if it were the first time we would brush it off. But it wasn't. To top it off, some of the sushi tasted pretty suspect (another issue we have had before, though not this bad), the temperature of the food was unpleasant, and it wasn't even cut properly.
