Our door dash order from Chili's got canceled so we went to All Star Burger for chicken sandwiches. We have had the burgers and breakfast here before but never tried the chicken sandwiches. We ordered the Crispy Chicken Sandwiches with everything and added American Cheese. They were by far the best chicken sandwiches we have ever had. The chicken was fresh and hand breaded then deep fried to perfection with out being dry or greasy. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were fresh and sliced thick. When they were wrapping the sandwiches to bag it looked like a perfect picture of a chicken sandwich that other restaurants have to fake. You know it's the spot for the locals upon walking in during lunch time - packed with older generations folks. The workers seems busy prepping food and service was okay. I got the cheeseburger, philly cheese steak with fries, and the all star burger, along with a side of onion rings. Total came out above $40. The food was solid and delicious. I did enjoy the onion rings, super crispy! The philly cheese steak left much to be desired, not a lot of meat. The burgers were solid - lots of food for one sitting. Can't help it - I have such affection for old-timey independent burger joints that have withstood the test of time. All Star Burgers is the epitome of a "greasy spoon" diner but clearly maintains a following and wouldn't be here all of these decades later if their food wasn't on point. Yes, it clearly seemed like it had seen better years, but I ordered a simple chili cheese dog and was taken aback by the monster that arrived at my table. Absolutely SMOTHERED in chili, I defy anyone to pick this one up! This dog is definitely a fork and knife endeavor. All that said, was it great? Well, it was good but admittedly, the chili tasted a bit like classic canned chili with beans and the hot dog was good but not spectacular. Still, service was super nice, and again, just in terms of the AMOUNT of food you get, I was impressed. We came here for lunch today, wanting an American styled brunch. This was exactly what we got. The restaurant is independently located in the corner of a street in the City of Newark. The parking spots around the restaurant sorta goes in a circle surrounding the restaurant which is quite nice and convenient. My wife and I ordered: Two edger breakfast, all star bacon cheeseburger, and some pancakes. They didn't taste anything out of the ordinary but it's this exact makings of the food that I love. It's a local American joint and all of the food tasted great but nothing different then another mom and pop spot around town. What can I say, a solid 4 out of 5 from me. Everyone was friendly, but the inside is definitely due for a refreshed look. The furniture looks dated and it serves purely for utility purposes. Once you get inside, you'll know exactly what I mean. They do also serve ice cream there so it is nice to see a variance of items being offered. How All Star Burgers can improve is to maybe look into offering unique burgers that are different then their decades old menu to pour some more life into the restaurant. It's at a great location and I can see people that live here see it as a great local diner. That being said I also see the potential for this restaurant to do some much more in today's world if adjustments are made correctly. read more

Juicy, greasy, flavorful burgers that keep you wanting more! Definitely one of the best beef burgers in the area, although on the pricier side. My allstar cheeseburger was around $8.50 and the allstar bacon cheeseburger was around $9.75. Expensive for "fast food" but the quality was great, and it was super delicious. Special sauce is a cross between thousand island dressing and mayo ketchup. Generous portion, too. Good size burger. I got the cheese burger. It takes like a burger you would make at a home at a Summer backyard BBQ. Came with soft buns, tomato slices, mayo, and lettuce. Got it without onions and mustard. They have a condiment corner. Free soda refills. They also serve breakfast all day. For dessert, the have ice cream and cheesecake. I absolutely love this place now. I haven't been here for awhile and it's definitely changed since my last visit. I'm not sure if they were the owners or not, but the family feeling was amazing. You can tell that they really cared and they felt like the nice family that was trying to make it. I ordered a burger and fries which were fantastic. The food has chanaged. The burger was thick, and the ingredients were super fresh. They had a side table with sauces that you could use incuding the famouse All Star sauce. The fries were thick steak cut fries. much different than before, as the portions were much smaller and the fries were much thicker. I give them a 5 for food. The place was generally the same except they had cleaned it up a little. It definitely needed remodeling, but you can tell they cleaned this up as much as they could without any remodel. I plan to support his restuarant everyday. the food and service is excellent. my minor complaints were that the menu board was still confusing to read. I think they need to remove the board and simplify it for people as dumb as me. The menu needs to be optimized. I don't think they need pastrami on the menu, but i could be wrong. I also wished the lettuce was chopped, there are thousands of charbroil burger places in southern cal and almost all of them use chopped lettuce for a reason. I also think with optimizing the menu, they could add teriyaki burgers and chicken sandwiches. they have a rice plate which seems out of place, but maybe they can add more items that maximize use of the same ingredients. Have eaten here many many times over the years it is a quintessential greasy spoon in the best possible way. They do a really good business for breakfast and lunch you can eat in or grab take out. They do burgers shakes fries onion rings omelets breakfast plates all very well.The staff is pretty efficient and pack the orders well since we have never had a spill or problem. After living in Newark for over 8 years, we finally came by for breakfast last week while in the area for omelettes. I ordered the bacon and cheese and my daughter had the ham and cheese. I have been curious about this place for a long time and finally decided to try their burgers. I am very pleased with the quality, taste and value! I got the all star bacon cheeseburger combo (well done). The meat to toppings ratio was perfect and the bacon was crispy. The amount of fries is insane. It comes with a small but it's more than enough for 2 people. It's an older building, well kept and they have GREAT customer service. My only regret is not trying this place earlier. My hashbrowns container was just under half full, not even deep in layers. My burger had one small piece of lettuce and that was it. The drink is whatever, they have a limited selection of sodas but it's about what you'd expect from most fast food places. But for the price I'd expect way more of everything. The cheeseburger on its own is normally a bit more than $9, and to only get a small amount of lettuce, one of the cheaper ingredients, is absurd. And to charge extra for hashbrowns then leave the container half empty is equally as bad. If you want a really good burger, go somewhere else. If you want cheap food, definitely go somewhere else. The food is the best in this area and family-friendly like they've known you for years. First name basis when I come in or call in my order. The patty needs to be juicy not heavy. The vegetables need to be crisp. The bun needs to be airy. If the burger has that foundation other items like bacon and cheese will add to the flavor of the dish even more. The first time I encounter this place was about last year when my dad had his car smog. The owner of the smog shop recommended All Star Burgers, which was around the corner. I went to check the menu, but at that time I didn't eat. About five months ago I came here to eat for the first time. Eventually I ate here to eat twice. Both times I've ordered two different types of bacon burger: 1) bacon cheeseburger 2) bacon burger. What I like about the burgers here is the cooks don't put a lot of ingredients - lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayonnaise. Since there aren't a lot of ingredients you can taste the beef patty. Besides the beef patty the bun is the second most important ingredient as too often the bun is stale. At All Star Burgers the buns are light. A great sign of the burger is if you eat one that you don't feel bloated. Both times when I finished eating my burgers, I didn't feel queasy. With all these burger chains situated in the suburbs for a place like All Star Burger to continue serving burgers is a great option. If you a craving for a burger and don't want to go to a chain eatery I recommend All Star Burger. Order either a bacon burger or a bacon cheeseburger and you won't be disappointed. read more
