I've been going to different dentist these past 3 years and always unhappy with how they treated me…read morelike a dumb sucker where they sold you things I might've not needed so I'd spend $$$ that my insurance doesn't cover. One of those expenses was to pay for mouth guard I didn't need, and spent $$$ to have them filled 13 cavities I supposedly had that no one ever told me I had cavity issue. I felt very pressured to pay for things I thought I didn't need. So I kept searching for a new dentist. Now I found one that makes me feel comfortably at home. Dr. Lance Dunham, DDS. on Mason Ave. in Chatsworth. The whole ataff gave me the feeling that they genuinely care for me & my teeth. Doctor Dunham talked to me and treated me like family. He questioned and listened to my health history. He educated me in how to take care of my teeth, and even went over, above & beyond his duty as to provide me with a booklet, which nothing to do with dentistry, but on how to treat my kidney issue when I explained the kidney issue I'm having. That tells me he is a caring and loving individual and see me as "human" instead of a "bank". The dental hygienist was also gentle, very warm and informative. She talked to me like I was her sister and gave me pointers on how to take care of my teeth better and told me I didn't need unexpected expenses because I have good teeth. I feel they are honest people who thrive in helping their patients more than the ones I've hone to. Thank you Dr. Dunham and Doctor Naz for your love.

A Disappointing Experience That Didn't Match the Promise…read more I came to TLC Smiles after responding to an Invisalign promotional offer, hopeful and ready to move forward with treatment. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in several ways that I feel left a bad taste in my mouth- no pun intended. Before my appointment, during an Invisalign monitored phone call, I was questioned about my insurance in a manner that felt judgmental when I explained I would be paying out of pocket. I was also informed -- for the first time -- that I would need to visit a separate dental office for a cleaning and any other work before Invisalign could begin. This requirement appeared nowhere in the Invisalign advertising that brought me there, nor in the conversations with Invisalign, and I found it frustrating to learn of it only after I was already in the process. The questionnaire sent in advance asked irrelevant questions like if I were to take a vacation where would it be? Why should my dentist want that info? I wrote- 'none of your business,' but in hindsight I should not have bother to fill anything out. The day-of staff were friendly, and the 3D scanning technology was genuinely impressive. The doctor was informative and walked me through the treatment plan clearly for restoring the position of my front tooth. She asked if I preferred to do everything, including my bottom, I said I'd consider it. . I appreciated that part of the visit. What disappointed me was what followed. Midway through my appointment, a financial coordinator entered the room unannounced with a clipboard. The moment the doctor finished speaking, she handed me a pen and a quote for $5,500 -- approximately $1,500 higher than I had researched and anticipated. The expectation seemed to be that I would sign immediately. I also want to note that the 18-month treatment timeline quoted here was considerably longer than the 6-12 months I had been quoted by other providers. I left feeling that much of this had been predetermined before I walked into the appointment, rather than tailored to what the scans and X-rays actually revealed that day. There was no quote for just my front tooth and a second for the whole mouth. This felt like I was being politely asked to leave by showing me a really high price and extended time frame. They had to do the exams because of their agreement with Invisalign but made me feel like they truly did not want me as a patient unless I paid about 50% more. One important note for anyone considering this office: the 3D scans performed here are not transferable to other Invisalign providers, so if you leave without committing, you will need to start the process over elsewhere. I genuinely hope others have a smoother experience. My advice would be to ask detailed questions about prerequisites, timeline, and pricing before your appointment -- so you're not surprised at the moment they hand you a pen. I did ask and got no answers other than 'each case is different.' Also noted: Invisalign's own representatives followed up with me multiple times after my visit -- I'd encourage the company to review how their affiliated providers are presenting their program to prospective patients. These visits come with those non transferable x-rays. It's not like shopping around for shoes or cars. Multiple x-rays are not a good thing. I made Invisalign aware of this in their high pressure calls today.

For many years, I would honestly make up any excuse not to go to the dentist. Every experience I…read morehad before was negative, stressful, and something I truly dreaded. That completely changed the moment I walked into Canoga Valley Dental and met Dr. Arsen. For the first time in my life, I actually felt excited and motivated about my treatment plan. Dr. Arsen took the time to explain everything clearly, came up with a plan that made sense, and -- most importantly -- made me feel confident and comfortable following through until the very end. That has never happened to me at any other dental office. I can honestly write a million things about how great Dr. Arsen is, but until you walk through the door and experience it yourself, you won't fully understand. He's not just an incredible dentist -- he's genuinely a great person. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually like and trust going to the dentist now. The front office staff is just as amazing, especially Martha. She truly went above and beyond in ways you rarely see anymore. She stayed on top of me to make sure I didn't miss appointments, knew I had a habit of running late, and jumped through hoops to help keep me on track -- without ever making me feel uncomfortable or judged. She even took the extra step to coordinate with my wife and my dad (who I work with) to make sure I could get to my appointments on time. That level of dedication is almost impossible to find. What really sets this office apart is that everyone here truly cares about your well-being. This is not one of those places where you feel rushed or treated like just another patient for a paycheck. The care, patience, and genuine concern from the entire team is something I've never experienced anywhere else. I feel incredibly blessed to have found Canoga Valley Dental. Dr. Arsen and his team have completely changed how I feel about dental care, and I can confidently say I'm with this office for life. Thank you to Dr. Arsen and the entire staff for being such an amazing group of individuals. -- David

I just moved back to the valley to take care of my sick mother and had to find a new dentist. I…read moredon't know why but I think I was feeling that I'm back where I grew up and I can trust people. This doctor talked me into buying a tooth guard I didn't want and didn't need. He was insisting I grind my teeth. I was telling him I think I grinded my teeth in the past but I don't think I do it anymore. I don't know why I doubted myself. I should have seen the red flag when I asked him how much it is and he said "I don't know." When I finished my cleaning it was on the bill for $450 and I paid it, I can't explain why. I was stupid for doing that, I know. My wife confirmed when I got home that no, I do not grind my teeth any longer. Early the next morning I emailed to cancel. No one replied so I called later in the day and they said there might be a lab fee but the person who deals with the lab is out sick for the week. I called again today 1 week later and she said unfortunately they can't give me any refund. Letting people know I wouldn't trust this place. It is BS that the Dr. didn't know how much they are selling their products for. It is also BS that they "couldn't cancel because the person who does it is out sick." To top it off, this whole past week, no one from their office has called me or emailed back. I've had to be the one to call them each time.

Jeanette was communicative and was doing everything to make the situation right again and I really appreciated that!
