The hand rolls were incredibly fresh, made with high-quality fish and great attention to detail in both the food presentation and the service. With the open concept of the restaurant, it feels like a personalized dining experience if you're sitting at the bar section. You'll be able to see clearly how your roll is made. They were offering 40% off for teachers during the month of May so I checked it out. The place is very nice and intimate. There is a super small bar area with 4 barstools and a booth. The dining area has tables and booths along with a sushi bar you may sit at. They also have outdoor dining. We parked in the Bahamas breeze parking lot. The day we visited there was a market going on in the parking garage for Bondi. The staff was very welcoming and well trained. We sat at the sushi bar. Everything tasted fresh. We had the spicy tuna crispy rice, pork boa bun, lobster tacos, yellowtail roll, and an espresso martini. Our bill with the 40% off was $60. My favorite was the pork belly boa bun. We had a five star lunch at this upscale Asian restaurant. You can let the sushi chef choose your meal as an "omakase" 12-piece tasting or order off the menu as we did. The restaurant is on the west side of Federal Highway/US 1 just north of Oakland Park Boulevard. Parking is on the side and behind the restaurant. They have a couple booths, regular table seating, and the sushi bar. We had a sample of different items. My husband had sashimi and nigiri -- enjoying the king salmon and scallops and ikura. I had the cute, but delicious lobster tacos, and two hand rolls: seared wagyu and blue crab. We got to share a small plate of crispy rock shrimp and some duck fried rice from the hot plates section. We took home most of the rice, as we were pretty full by then. My favorites were the lobster tacos and the seared Wagyu beef hand rolls. He liked the king salmon sashimi and the scallop nigiri the best. We had very good service even though he was busy helping two other tables and two couples at the sushi bar, in addition. They've been open since October, but I think they are still being "discovered". So glad we got to try them. read more

Okay that was the best sushi I've had in South Florida. It was absolutely amazing. We had the hand roll special, a bunch of Nigiri, salmon and lobster roll and spicy tuna crispy rice. Broward County is filled with yummy sushi spots, and Bondi just got added to my list. We ordered it take out and despite the drive to get to us, everything tasted fresh. The flavors of each roll are paired nicely together, and there are some unique pairings that I haven't seen before. We got the spicy tuna and did a build your own box with: salmon and cucumber, yellowtail and jalapeno, spicy blue crab, and yellowtail scallion all with white rice. It's a good deal for the amount of food we got. Everything was great, I especially like the spicy blue crab roll. Plus, everything was packaged nicely and with care. Overall, a great sushi spot. Had to drop my car off to get service and spotted this sushi place so decided to stop by for lunch. Pleasantly surprised that they have happy hour special starting at 3 PM. The shiso syrup used for the shiso mojito is made in house. A little twist to the regular mojito where mint leaves are used, shiso leaves are pressed at the bottom instead. Quite refreshing on a hot summer day. Tuna and shrimp specialty roll was delicious with a little spicy kick. Wagyu taco was very salty so had to remove a star for that. Came in on a Sunday, place was empty. So we sat at the sushi bar. The place has a good vibe, nice looking inside. The menu looked nice with lots of good options. A bit on the higher end as far as prices go. We started with some edamame, the spicy one. It was good, nothing special here. We also did the nigiri, the king salmon, the sea scallop and the yellowtail. The king salmon and the yellowtail were really good, the sea scallop never came out. Strange. We didn't say anything but realized after we left that it never came. We tried a robata, the Wagyu short rib (pictured) it too was good. Nicely seasoned and good flavor. We also got a hand roll; the spicy & hot blue crab, which was excellent. Also the lobster, which same was really good. The did bring us a complementary sake shot. That was nice. All in all the service was great. I mean we were the only ones in there. Staff was friendly. Cost for two was around $110 with tip and no alcohol. So with drinks you're going to get closer to $150-$200. A bit on the higher side, not sure if that will be sustainable for the survival of this restaurant. The thing that really impressed me about Bondi were the prices. Wow! I admit their food is good but I found it far more costly than other sushi restaurants that are just as good. And how does a little carafe of sake, that tasted rather ordinary, get to $23.00? But the worst part is, they don't have all of the items on their menu. My partner had his heart set on mackerel, but they didn't have it, resulting in him having nothing. Odd to me was, when I was seated, I wasn't even offered any cutlery, so I ended eating with stick, which is just not me no matter the type of restaurant. I had their Hokkaido Scallops which were to come with red tobiko but didn't. However, they were totally fresh and in a very tasty Japanese dressing. Bondi is new, sparklingly clean and with a good eye-pleasing modern decor along with decent service. As for drinks, it's just wine, sake or beer. read more

I love it here! They have the best happy hour and I love how they make your sushi etc in front of you. The food is fresh delicious and so tasty and the drinks are delicious they also have a private bar area in the back as well. And the dessert was amazing the crema brulee was delicious. Let me start mentioning that Zack and Will were awesome! Both were very pleasant, friendly and fun!! The food was great. We sat at the bar and had the hand rolls and that was really cool! They had 3 vegetarian hand rolls and they were all delicious but the truffle avocado was my favorite! I wanted sugar fish in Fort Lauderdale so after reading many yelp reviews, I came across Bondi sushi. First, it's one of the ONLY sushi restaurants that use fresh crab and not imitation! Crab rolls are my all time favorite, so it must be fresh! Second, Bondi sushi offers delivery. Your sushi is packaged all nice and neat in cardboard packaging. Third, everything tasted AMAZING!! I work in the Oakland Park neighborhood and have been craving some good sushi so I toddled off to Bondi (btw, not a fan of the namesake attorney general). I was aware that they have a nice happy hour menu so I made a point to try that out. Good decision. It's a small, cozy nicely lit space with an adjoining area for take out. Smart. The Door Dash and Uber Eats folks have their own place. I was greeted by two very attractive servers. Sat at the bar where the proficient chef was manning. I was presented with the happy hour menu along with the nightly one. What a deal. I ordered two hand rolls at $5 each: Spicy crab and miso eggplant which is a rare item I'd never seen before. That eggplant roll was the bomb. So good I didn't need the soy sauce, pickled ginger or wasabi. The spicy crab was ok, I probably should have chosen the yuzu lobster. While I dined, I watched the chef prep sushi from whole fish. I believe it was red snapper. Now that's fresh! His technique was amazing. Now I want to return with friends and sample the tacos and skewers. And the miso sea bass! read more

Very good. Food was fresh and made on the spot. I sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the sushi being made. I ordered the chicken araage as my starter, the slice of lime added a great touch but I wouldn't order it again. I think the dish is missing some excitement, maybe something spicy. I also ordered the hot & spicy blue crab hand roll...this was sooo good! A variety of flavors and it worked very well together. I ordered the seafoam as my cocktail. The glass it comes in is very fun and it completely caught me off guard. The drink was strong but too sweet at the start, once the ice melted a bit it was great. The shrimp and tuna roll was delicious. A little crunch, a little spice, a happy me! I'm glad I stopped by to try this new place! My one complaint is that the food took sooo long to come out. I waited 45 minutes for my roll. Just unacceptable. There were 3 other tables and it was lunch service, so it was not very busy. My server comped the roll, but they need to get these things sorted out if they want people to become regulars. read more

Welcome to Oakland Park, Bondi! We are in need of more upscale, niche, spots like this. We had a great time sitting at the sushi bar Friday night. Leann was our server and she was excellent. They had a live dj keeping the vibe upbeat and social. It got super busy around 8ish but we never felt like the food took longer than expected at a made to order small, fresh sushi spot. I ordered a very, very, very cold Vodka martini and it was absolutely perfection. Check my pictures out. I could've ice skated on the top. It was so cold. Exactly how I wanted it. Very smooth. We ordered an assortment of pieces appetizers, and my son, 10 years old, ordered the fried rice, salmon crispy rice and edamame. Everything was excellent, and I would order everything again, but the standouts to me were the salmon crispy rice, the tuna with caviar (chu toro) and the nigiri with truffle. (Name escapes me). They are still very new so they are working out a few kinks, and that was expected. I would like to see a simple "create your own roll" option in the future. Because they are so new the are not taking any off menu orders or edits to the existing menu. No kids menu. New York Sushi has landed in Fort Lauderdale and it's the biggest location to date. This location features an exclusive menu but of course maintains many of their classics. We tried a good mix of all of their dishes and we were blown away by their amazing flavors. You obviously know their sushi is top notch. But If there's anything you order make sure it's the lamb chops. They have $5 handrolls Monday through Friday from 3-6pm and amazing lunch specials. Save this for your next sushi craving. read more

Bondi popped up as new on my uber eats and I was in the mood for a veggie roll and soup. They put a nice spin in some traditional rolls, for example truffle avocado and sesame cucumber (the two I ordered). Both were very good, the truffle avocado had a (well, truffle) surprise when you bite down. They even threw in a free cookie! The miso soup was good too! Presentation was 5 star for sure! The cutest paper bag and boxes that the rolls were packed in, plus all the sides. I was able to recycle some of the packaging too. A nice feature in a world of styrofoam and plastic, right? I almost didn't give this a full five stars because I had the option to indicate a gluten allergy in the app but the sauces that came with the sushi, one was ponzu and the other was tamari, we're not labeled gluten-free and therefore I didn't want to take the chance. So I made my own spicy mayo at home. The cookie was matcha white chocolate chip, looks amazing but have to pass that to a friend since I'm sure it contains gluten too. Since it was delivered, I cannot speak to the ambiance of the restaurant, but it is in new Oaklyn Apartment building across from Coral Ridge mall, brand new space and I do see they have a bar and happy hour. Service staff is very nice but not very educated on the dinner or drink menu. I asked about a dry sake and no one could point one out telling me to google them. I have never had anyone sear O Toro. It took away from the buttery flavor that is key to O Toro. Although it advertises itself as a sushi bar the sushi selection is very limited. Nice atmosphere but if you really want great sushi go to Kaizen which is a few miles N of here. read more

I ordered "king salmon" sashimi for 10 dollars and the pieces are so thin you can almost see through them. It doesn't taste like high quality salmon sashimi either. I ordered "steamed white rice" for 5 DOLLARS and it was a bowl of cold sticky rice thy use in sushi. Not as advertised and they refused to refund me. 8 dollar Miso soup was not flavorful and had no seaweed in it. That's one of the 3 ingredients... Don't know how they missed that... Salmon avocado roll was the best value, but it was very heavy on the rice. Overall, incredibly disappointing. I waited for this place for open for almost a year. There are much better sushi and Japanese places to go in this area that aren't rip offs with tiny portions. read more

Omg Bondi is a great new sushi spot in Fort Lauderdale, across the street from Target. We arrived during Happy Hour so ordered from that menu as well as the dinner menu. Highlights were lobster tacos, Wagyu tacos, spicy hamachi roll, shrimp and tuna roll, seared tuna nigiri, all of the nigiri was great. Everything was amazing!! Service was spot on, our server, Will, was full of recommendations and we were very thankful for it. We will be back for sure!! Try it out. read more

The early 30s waitress girl I believe her name was "julie" or something like that, at the front for seating people was incredibly disrespectful, disingenuous, mocking in tone and attitude, and inattentive. On a slow night when barely anyone was there, with multiple large seating options open; and 11 empty seats at the bar (only 3 sitting) and no one else in line. She "couldn't seat us" and wouldn't give a time estimate. We were very hungry so if the open 6 person table, and the 5 rows of empty combinable 2 person tables "weren't an option" then we would be fine at the bar, and she said "I'll only seat 3" and then redirected us over to the mini bar portion to "wait" for 30+ minutes before finally seating us. After which we had to wait 20 minutes to simply order, and another 40 for the food on mind you, not even remotely busy of a night. I also saw some strange behavior from one of the other wait staff "Will" literally pulled up his shirt at the bar to "show off his tattoos" to some girl who looked literally underaged. If I had been in charge of our party, or paying, I would've left the moment the girl waitress lazily greeted us with attitude and snark. This is the least upscale and least professional restaurant of this category and rating I have ever been to. I didn't even pay a cent for the meal and feel like I was robbed of my time and energy. God awful service and staff and beyond mediocre food too. I did glimpse at the pricing as well, abhorrent for the quality and serving size. Avoid and go literally anywhere else. Bondi opened up like 2 weeks ago and I've already ordered from there 4 times. I've tried the bliss box/ the yuzu lobster roll/ and am borderline obsessed with the spicy tuna bowl (double tuna, extra cucumber, add truffle avocado). It's the best delivery sushi I've ever had and I've had almost all of them by me. Living in las Olas this is a major upgrade to anything else we have remotely close.
