A lot of the WM restaurants are over priced and taste bland but not this one. I have always had the best sushi rolls and sashimi at this place and their combo options are great if you can share. This place is open until much later (2AM on weekdays and 3AM on weekends), so this is the healthiest option you can find if you are hungry in the area after a late night out. Not a great place for people watching(no outside tables). But this makes it a great date night spot away from the hustle and buzzle outside. It is cozy and has dim/gentle lighting. We were testing out local sushi places recently and unfortunately Sushi Song left us greatly disappointed. While service was just okay, the sushi itself stood out for all the wrong reasons. We ordered hot sake which tasted far too sweet and watered down. If not watered down, then the brand was far inferior to other house sakes offered locally. The smell inside the restaurant was very off putting and overpowering. We tried a typical JB Roll and a Lemon Drop Roll that the server recommended. Neither were great. The quality of the fish and flavor were just not there. The recommended roll's sauce was lemon based and while we had high hopes for it based on the description, it was just not enjoyable and we ended up leaving half of it and going to another restaurant across the way where we had a much more enjoyable experience with both the food and the service. Although we had visited Sushi Song in the past, it had been years since our last visit. I had really hoped to find another local go-to spot. However, the interior really needs some TLC and a deep clean, and the quality of the sushi unfortunately does not warrant a return visit. read more

Where do I begin? I'm in town for a cruise and decided to come a little early to experience what Fort Lauderdale had to offer. This restaurant was suggested by a local and they couldn't say enough good things about it. Upon, entering the restaurant we were welcomed immediately and told to sit where we'd like. We decided to sit at the bar. The chef didn't look particularly happy about us sitting there when the server came from the back he said the chairs were not stable and asked us to sit at another table. We said okay, happy they were thinking ahead to prevent one of us getting hurt. Once we sat down the server asked us what we wanted to drink, I asked for an ice tea, the server said "we don't have that" very pointedly and was giving off an attitude that we were being an inconvenience to him. My friend and I agreed on just water. Looking at the menu there were other tea options and that wasn't offered. The food came out relatively fast, I ordered the Tuna California Roll and the Spicy Tuna Roll. The presentation was nice but the flavor was lacking and the sushi roll fell apart when trying to pick it up to eat. The Tuna California Roll was okay, nothing over the top or bad, typical. The Spicy Tuna Roll was not good. It was if the spicy sauce was not made for flavor. It was over powering with the spicy that it made the whole role taste of the roll, I didn't event finish the roll. To top it off the server's attitude grew with every interaction we had with him (which was few) when we were paying the check he snapped at my friend and then even closed his eyes and took a deep breath then apologized. Overall, this was not a pleasant experience, the food didn't meet our expectations and the servers attitude didn't create a welcoming atmosphere (I didn't even feel comfortable asking for a straw for my water). There's potential here but these allot of improvement needed. I look forward to giving this place another chance in the future and hope it's a better experience. read more

If you're in the Wilton Manor area enjoying the night out Sushi Song is wonderfully quaint stop. They are open dinner time until very late night. They have a great sushi selection on their menu and don't forget to look at the black wall board with the Sushi Chef specials that they have. This place does not have a full kitchen so you're going to get a limited menu but do not let that shy you away. They make fantastic sushi and what I love the most is that rice is not wet, gooey or mushy they know to make the perfect sushi sticky rice. The food is always consistent and the service everyone is very nice and friendly. I ordered a simple dish this time around Shrimp Tempura Role, and gyoza which I loved. The gyoza sauce is delicious! While Sushi Song Gaysha is on THE prime street corner on The Drive, it is small can easily be missed, sandwiched between a realtor and clothing store. Don't miss it! The sushi coming out of this little restaurant is really good. We usually came here for a late night ramen noodle soup, because where else can we get ramen on the Drive after 10PM? They only served one type, and it was big, delicious, and necessary, especially after a bar crawl. Unfortunately, it looks like Gaysha recently took it off their chalkboard menu. They gave up their late night ramen monopoly and we are literally crying. Their sushi rolls are great and they have a large variety of house and signature rolls. My favorite is the A1A. Filled with Maine lobster, avocado, cilantro and spicy mayo, topped with seared salmon and miso sauce. Maine lobster comes with a price, but it is decadent! Our Sashimi Sampler came out with large fresh slices of chef's choice quality sashimi. The chef also surprised me when I asked if they had Hamachi Kama (yellowtail jaw/collar), which is not on the menu or chalkboard. Out came a beautiful kama. Fresh, tasty and grilled to perfection. Staff is friendly and personable. We had a great time and tables are socially distanced for COVID. It would be awesome if they made use of their front courtyard to put a table or two outside to watch the world go by. It could also help "advertise" that there is a sushi restaurant right in the middle of everything. read more

Some of their best rolls are Sobe and Voodoo roll but honestly anything you order is going to be delicious. They're a solid and consistent place. The restaurant has maybe a total of maybe 10 tables most of which are only for two people. When you walk in, the waitstaff is super welcoming and we got seats right away. I ordered the A1A roll, the spicy scallop roll, and edamame. It's hard to mess up edamame, so that was fine. The A1A and spicy scallop were exactly the same as the edamame - just fine. I was pleasantly surprised though because the A1A actually had big chunks of lobster when I was worried that they would be cheap by limiting the amount of lobster. I was on a work trip, so I was able to expense the meal, but if it were my own money, I don't think it was worth it at the given price point. I love SUSHI. My daughter loves SUSHI. And if you love sushi and want an intimate, cozy, or tight dining experience GAYSHA New World Sushi Bar should be on your list. First impressions, it was a tight space. All the tables were taken when we arrived so we sat at the sushi bar. It is set up kind of tight so even though we sat at the bar we couldn't see the chef make the sushi which was a little disappointing. Our server Nikki was fantastic. She was able to handle the other tables, answer our many questions, and give super service. This place is a bit pricy with salads and apps around $15. The portions were small for the price, but the food was extra delicious. Because this is a limited venue, they only have one beer on tap which was extra delicious. LOVED THAT BEER. The rest of the beer is in bottles or cans and they have wine, and my favorite unfiltered sake. We started with a white fish carpaccio delicious, a salmon avocado salad delicious, and an octopus salad which they made special because it was not on the menu. For our main course we shared SASHIMI, which was really fresh, super creative and really good, although for $35 I felt it was a little pricey, still we left full and satisfied. read more

Found this little sushi place after some bar hopping in Wilton Manors. The ramen bowls are fairly decent in size and quite filling. While sitting at the bar you can watch the meals being prepared in the open view kitchen. The atmosphere is very casual. The (happy hour?) sushi rolls were cheap, but you do get what you pay for and the pieces were literally bite-sized. Other than that, food seems to be fresh and high quality. The only gripe I have is that the base for their soup came out of a jug, so not exactly home-made. read more

In what seems a parade or rave Yelps about Gaysha, I fear I'm out of step. Yes, I found Gaysha to be good, but not anymore than an "Oh hum, it's OK" type of good. First off, the interior décor is Spartan, as in no décor at all. That is unless one considers a couple of dead, dried out bamboo poles stuck in pot as decorative. However, I suppose on the other hand one might say that such might be construed as an outstanding example of Japanese Industrial or Japanese Minimalist. Then, at least while I was present, the background music was, to my astonishment and utter disbelief, emo music. Worse, it was emo music played through some sort of speaker system having a resonant sound band seemingly of no more capability than a cell phone. As for the food, I started with very well prepared mesculan salad generally consisting of cos, mache, frisee, oak, Red Russian and roquette arugula leaf lettuces topped off with a beautiful blue orchid ....a pleasing, unique touch....mixed with an Asian ginger dressing. For an appetizer, since they didn't have octopus available, I selected a salmon carpaccio which was served with thin slices of salmon topped with capers and greens. Though the salmon was good, it certainly wasn't of Northern Atlantic belly cut and didn't have either the taste or the texture of good wild Pacific. For my entrée, I enjoyed their spicy love roll which, though teaming with a good complex of tangy spice flavors exuding a certain amount of heat, again was something that didn't strike me as being anything unique, out of the ordinary or extra special. Overall, I found Gaysha to be a nice restaurant with exceedingly pleasant friendly service. And though emo background music is to me disturbing, peevish, petulant, and generally more a source of annoyance than comfort, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gaysha as being a decent sushi restaurant, more particularly of course if I were making the recommendation to an emo. Now, so that no one makes me out to be some sort of bigoted emo hater, which I know that you probably will all now do, I hold nothing whatsoever against any emo. Believe me, I don't, I really don't. Matter of fact if any emo is reading this, I find you, your ways your poems and your styles to be rather cute. It's just your damnable emo music I loath. read more

No bells and whistles, just fresh good food. Its not romantic and definitely not a glamorous restaurant but they concentrate on their food quality, which is most important to me. They have a variety of small plates and appetizers, quite a few rolls and hot entrees like ramen as well. They also have very good imported Japanese beers. The sushi rolls didn't wow me, they seemed more standard than creative. Me and my friend went there strictly to try their sashimi and we weren't disappointed. Though I've heard their ramen is bomb as well. Perhaps another visit.... Started off with Echigo Red Ale. A little hoppy but still very refreshing and smooth. Then we went one item at a time down a list of things to try: Baked oysters - amazing. The topping was so creamy and rich. The oyster was plump and juicy. Hamachi jalapeño carpaccio - I love yellowtail and theirs was very fresh. It was topped with a tiny slice of jalapeño and black caviar. Not spicy at all and the tangy-ness of the ponzu sauce really blended all the flavors. Sashimi salad - delicious dressing on the greens. Thick cuts of seared tuna and topped with thinly sliced cucumber skin for that extra crunch. Saba sashimi - so smooth and a glossy finish on the outer edges of the mackerel skin. So good!!! Chef's choice platter - came with 14 pieces of sashimi including Hokkaido scallops with lime, Tuna, wild salmon, tamago, seared tuna, hamachi with ponzu jelly. Everything was fresh and tasted great. Uni shooter - not for the norm. The sake mixed with the fresh floppy uni and the slippery quail egg and crunchy caviar inside could make some people queasy but I loved it! Since my review which was honest and true I have received several harassing messages from either an employee here or someone associated with the business, they are rude and degrading and the last one seems to be in either Chinese or Vietnamese language. Very very unprofessional. I have reported them and their business. I would avoid this restaurant by all means. There are many other great sushi places nearby. Wilton manors is a place where you shouldn't feel harassed. Unfortunately not here. Review: Service was horrible. Only one other table and we felt very rushed. Don't remember he girls name, had back hair and it was on 3/10/16 at 9:30 pm. Ordered the Diamond roll,($17) had to ask the girl can I please have ginger, can I please have wasabi, as if it's rare to have those 2 items with sushi. We were still working on our food and had a whole full beer and she brought our check out. I had to ask what time they were closing (still an hour left). Gf had the miso soup, tuna appetizer and saki. Total meal was around $70. I also tried their special salmon roll, and found it to be kind of plain. Nice presentation, but lacking flavor. Something that I enjoyed in this visit was the nice selection of Japanese beers they have. I tried the Hitachino brown ale, and it was very good. Full body, hoppy and nice taste. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Gaysha yet!?! This place is owned and operated by a good acquaintance of mine, Takeshi. Not only is he an amazing chef...he also also an amazing artist (and just started Tattooing at Kreepy Tiki Aloha tattoos...so you should check him out!) Anyhow, what I love about Gaysha and Takeshi is his attention to detail. He's always pushing the limit on what he can do and blending together classical Japanese food with modern style and flair. His assistant chef Stephanie is always one hell of a sushi chef and from my knowledge has trained and apprenticed here for quite some time. The stuff that I've seen her do is quite amazing and it's great to see someone take so much pride in what they do. On to the food!!!! The food here is excellent and fairly priced too, which is something noteworthy to mention. For the quality and craftsmanship of the food here, you will not find better prices. Gaysha is not a place for those looking for Happy Family Dragon Thunder God Roll.....no, it's a place for people who want to experience something fresh and new. I've eaten here numerous times, a few times from just the regular menu, and a few times with a small Omakase style dinner and I have never been disappointed. He's always recommending his freshest fish of the day, and what's new on his specials board, he's friendly to talk to and he even taught me how to make Tamago at home!!! He has a decent small sake bottle selection as well as Hitachino beer! Which is a rare find here in South Florida. So that's also something that I really like. His restaurant is a little small, and if you come during the busier hours it can be difficult to find a table, but I wouldn't call this a drawback at all.
