When you walk in you are greeted with friendly workers and wonderful smells of fresh baked goods. We were instantly offered fresh samples of bread that was warm and fantastic! We left with a loaf of vanilla bread. It is pretty much like a dessert. We also picked up some of the fruit bars. We opted for the mixed berry and cherry. They were amazing even 2 days later. You don't get much for your money. I ordered through Door Dash and wanted more than just my 1/2 sandwich. In order to do sides, I was forced to order 2 at an additional $2.29 EACH. Okay, not sure if this is just a Door Dash thing, but I ordered a bag of chips and a side of pasta salad. The pasta salad was maybe 1/4 cup -- for $2.29! And it was absolutely drenched in dressing. I mean swimming in it. I also wanted my sandwich toasted -- they charge another $0.69 to toast the bread that I was already getting on my sandwich. I understand everything has gone up since Covid but I think they are taking it to the nth degree -- charging for toasting the bread...SMH At any rate, in my opinion, there are other places in town that give you a much better bang for your buck. Meh. I think my expectations were set too high. We always pass this place when it's closed and when we passed when it was open, I was too excited! They give free samples of bread when you enter but I really wanted a sandwich and just to eat, looking back, I wish I would have tried it to realize the bread is not my preference. Everyone at my table got different bread so I tried them all. It's incredibly sweet for all the breads. They also all kind of mushed and crumbled. I also didn't appreciate the banter of the employees. One person said they needed help that they've never checked anyone out before to which the other replied, "you mean you've never checked out a women before?" I know you think you're being harmless but let's stop objectifying women, it's in these small one off comments that it happens too. read more

This is a small shop that focuses more on selling freshly baked bread and other items for carry-out. I've had their bread multiple times but have yet to buy any for myself. The shop also serves sandwiches made on their bread. One lunch hour I decided to try it. I ordered half of a turkey and swiss on sourdough bread. There is minimal seating inside and outside the shop - four inside and two bistro sets outside. If you go around the lunch hour consider yourself lucky if you find a place to sit. I opted to carry it out and ended up eating the sandwich on my lap in the car. I wouldn't order the sourdough bread again. It was dry and crumbly and fell apart, so eating it in my car became a struggle. The sandwich ingredients were substantial. The rewards program is generous as you get a free sandwich or loaf for signing up, so I will try this one more time for a free sandwish but skip the week-old sourdough bread. read more

Great Harvest goes above and beyond basic bread. I've never seen such a wide variety of different bread loaves, both sweet and savory, and bakery treats. Forget free smells (although those are great here also), they offer free slices of different featured breads so you can try out new options each day. I got the cinnamon swirl bread and it was absolutely delicious. Huge ribbons of cinnamon sugar throughout the whole loaf but not overpoweringly sweet, so it was perfect as a breakfast bread. Amazing :) After having just moved here from out of state I received a coupon for a free loaf of bread from here. As soon as I walked in the smell of freshly baked bread hits you in the face in the most delightful way. Most of the space here is taken up by the bread, but there is also a small selection of pb and jelly. The lady at the counter greeted me by saying "Honey wheat or jalapeno cheddar? ". She gave me a huge slice of their dense and delicious honey wheat bread. It was still warm and had a little crunch. You can actually taste the honey in it. I got a loaf of the honey wheat and my husband and I can't stop eating it since. We definitely will be getting all of our bread from there from now on. read more

They don't require people coming into their bakery to wear masks!!! Seriously they need to be reported to the health department for this level of ignorance. This business doesn't care enough to protect the health and well being of their customers and employees. Also, be sure to grab a flier or check their website on what they make each day to get their freshest of selections. I always drive by this place and decided on a whim to stop by yesterday. My experience there was so wonderful, that I decided to write my first review. Upon walking in to this place, I was immediately greeted by one of the friendly workers with a free sample of my choosing of their "Breakfast Blast" bread. So delicious!!! They have a fair amount of breads to choose from among many other items. Apparently, they do a big lunch business and have several different sandwiches on their menu. I ended up getting the "Country French" bread and asked about the spreads they have available. They have containers of garlic herb, cinnamon butter, and cheese(maybe?) spread. Loaves run anywhere between $5-$9. Anyway, this was a great first experience here, and I will be back! read more

I generally love Great Harvests. But I bought a bag of biscotti at this one and it probably shouldn't have been sold, it did not do them credit. I know biscotti is supposed to have a long shelf life but this tasted **old**. The price is higher than buying something mass-produced and I pay that price expecting GH's usual freshness and quality. Be prepared that they don't sell the "French"(?) "Home"(?) White in uncut rounds as they do at other locations either - I like this option because I think the bread is beautiful and because it seems to stay fresh longer, so it's a little disappointing for this basic flavor. And maybe it's different if you're a returning, recognized customer but I don't get the same warm vibe when you come in the door here as experienced at other locations -- No one's unpleasant of course! But it's just kind of neutral like any other business, which doesn't fit my impressions of Great Harvest. Maybe I've caught them at bad times, or maybe my expectations are high from elsewhere. But also, their samples here are slight compared to the generous slice you get at other locations. I'm still a fan of Great Harvest, though! This place is cute, and I really want to like it more than I do. And it's not bad. Definitely worth a try. But I just don't love it. First, even a lot of their breads fall on the 'Cake' end of the bread-cake continuum. Light, fluffy texture, with fruit or cinnamon. Sure, you need to have a few things like that. But at GHBC, it seems more like a great majority of what they offer is either a cake or a pastry, or a cake-like bread. Indeed, even their 'true breads' often have an underlying cake-y-ness about them. Last week, I had something called a "rustic" "farmhouse" "artisan" something-or-other. I don't remember the details, but I was certainly expecting one of those big, chewy, crusty things. But what I got had the flavor and texture profile of a decent-but-unexciting white bread. Great Harvest makes the best bread ever! My total favorite is Cinnamon Explosion. It has the look and feel of an old country store. The staff are all very personable. They serve free slices of bread to try before you buy. It is also great place for lunch. They make very tasty sandwiches on fresh homemade bread. It's the way you would make a sandwich at home...lots of meat, vegetables, and cheese. There is very limited seating outside, so you have to plan on carry-out. I sometimes give Great Harvest products as gifts. They usually have nice bags or baskets that can be filled with granola, cookies, jam, bread, scones and more. I miss Great Harvest. When I went to Purdue, I would go to Great Harvest once a week to buy my bread. They had a great selection. Plus, their cinnamon rolls are to-die-for. They are sooooo sinful. I realize now how unhealthy they probably were, but I couldn't resist at the time. Yum... how I wish I could put my mouth on one of those cinnamon rolls again. They also have cookies, which are freshly baked. Delicious. You can't go wrong with anything from Great Harvest. They had some sort of cheddar bread that made great sandwiches, especially with leftover parmesan chicken tenders. Oh, so good. I have fantastic memories of Great Harvest. It is as good as it gets at Great Harvest! The bread is fantastic and totally worth the $6-$9 (depending) per loaf. Personal fav's are the pizza bread, the garlic cheddar, the virginia cheddar and oh--pretty much anything! They also have a frequent buyers card so you can get a loaf free after some punches. Their sandwiches are also very good--they have THE BEST grilled cheese in the world--seriously the best--sure it's good at Main st cheese--but this is BETTER! read more

We went here for luncheon sandwiches on very tasty bread and they were delicious; had the BLTs and some turkey and cheese on wheat. They have lots of breads here, including giving you a sample from a fresh-made loaf; we had apple crisp bread and it was awesome as a snack later!
