Whether you're a newbie in the gym, getting back into it, or an athlete, they've got facilities and equipment for you. The owners do a great job of making sure they have the latest and greatest AND all the classic pieces you need. They do not rush for you to sign up for a membership. In fact, you can sign up as member and do a trial seven day and cancel anytime. You can also become a member and cancel anytime with a 30 days notice. There are so many options, if plans change and need to remove members from your account or add. Group classes for various of times throughout the day and trained lifeguards for the pool areas. it appears to be safe within the facilities. This is a convenient day spa to unwind and relax. In one example not only the half-used bottle of water was left behind on the treadmill, there were food crumbs on it. In another example an underwear was hung on the wall of a women's bathroom stall. Unfortunately despite repeated reporting to the manager/supervisor things are getting worse. 2. For almost $80 I pay for a locker, I am supposed to receive free laundry but practically I can't use this service because their laundry service destroyed one of my t-shirts and I was never compensated for it. 3. Their recovery room is closed for 1.5 hours (2:00-3:30) every business day which makes no sense. For the upscale club that this is supposed to be, the above issues should not exist.

Tickets are only $10, and that alone, is worth the 5-star review. For less than the price of a couple coffee's or cartons of eggs, you are able to have some really cool interactions with animals. If you want to experience anything else like this, you'll have to drive an hour to the Houston Zoo, pay a lot more money for tickets, deal with crowds/parking/etc. The Learning Zoo is obviously not trying to compare itself to the Houston Zoo, but where else are you going to get to play with goats, pigs, birds, a pony, tortoises and snakes? The location is really hidden behind 1488. You drive through a residential street, and then all the way at the back, you make a couple of turns, and suddenly you're at The Learning Zoo. When you walk in, you are offered some lettuce and carrots for the animals for an additional $10, which is definitely worth it. Plus, they have some animals inside the lobby area - snakes, hedgehogs, other reptiles, etc. Then you head outside to the main part of the experience. You can walk amongst the tortoises, get "attacked" by all of the birds in their sanctuary, join the goats and pigs in their pen, and they even brought out a 14 foot snake for people to hold and take pictures with. Everyone here was incredibly nice, too. We were only there for about 45 minutes, but for $40, it was worth every penny.

Thank goodness I'm the type that actually reads brochures others set up at local business's, otherwise I would have never found out about this spot!!! After grabbing a flyer from Darque Tan, I called the number & set up a meeting time with Nick. Super sweet, cool guy. He got my girlfriend & me all measured, weighed, & signed up for the 9am training class. When we arrived the next day for our actual class, we were greeted by Alfred (see his business card in pics I posted). ANOTHER super sweet, funny, cool, dedicated guy!!! The three of us immediately clicked as if we had known each other for years. IMO, the best thing to have with your trainer is a great relationship!! Alfred works us HARD!!! I love how understanding he is when you feel like you need to take a breather. I've experienced some pretty crappy trainers in my day (one of which was obviously drunk & on drugs...See my review for Blast coming soon) but Alfred is right on point with everything!!! The trainer I had a few weeks ago started me off with 75lbs on each arm, fast bench presses, 1st exercise & it tore my shoulder/arm up. Just so happens Alfred is a PT & is not only working me out 3 days a week, but also doing rehab on that arm of mine. LOVE IT!!! Every body builder, trainer, and client is super sweet & soooo friendly. Alfred was even able to refer my husband to a doctor that their body builders see, and everyone has made a point to ask how my husband's doing!!! THAT'S LOVE!!! The entire facility (which is in a warehouse) is extremely clean, sparkling bathroom, up to date equipment, & fully stocked with water, sports drinks, energy drinks, & protein shakes.
