You can order online but I like a personal touch - and I have very specific brisket requirements (lean) - so I phoned in the order and the person taking my order was courteous and helpful. We had never been to a Mission BBQ before and stopped here for a quick lunch before checking out an attraction in Bowling Green. We were so glad we did! The food was exceptional across the board! They have a great variety of sauces that you don't really even need cause the meat is so tasty. I had the brisket and pulled pork my wife had the chicken. All of it was fantastic, as were the sides. The prices were all very reasonable considering the quality, taste, and portion sizes. Additionally, the staff was very friendly. I can't remember the name of the young man who took our order, but he was smiley and welcoming. Shout out to Alton the GM for making us feel like VIPs. We absolutely love Mission BBQ and everything it stands for! When we travel, if there is an opportunity stop at one, we always take that option. This trip was no exception. We were actually headed to another restaurant when we saw Mission BBQ and immediately pulled in there. It was a bit later than we would normally eat our supper, but we had traveled about nine hours that day and were ready to eat and then get back to our hotel. I had the brisket and my wife had the smoked chicken sandwich. Both were very good with generous portions. The brisket was a bit dry, I'm sure due to the lateness of the hour. I can very much appreciate the difficulty in keeping smoked meats fresh for 10-12 hours. The brisket was still very good, it had just lost some of its moisture. Absolutely amazing staff, food, and experience! There are plenty of BBQ restaurants in BG, but Mission is always my go to pick. Today the brisket was literally melting in my mouth, and the fries were hot and crisp. The array of house made sauces, definitely try the Georgia mustard, are all always delicious. What really makes this restaurant stand apart though is the incredibly kind and knowledgeable staff! The manager Ashley is both professional and gracious; and Rick came through with excellent sauce suggestions and to check that everything came to the table in a way we were 100% satisfied with. What a great bbq spot! Casual, clean, amazing customer service, and dang good food! It was mine and my husbands first time in. We got the trio of meat sampler. The jalapeño cheddar sausage, pulled pork, and brisket "wet". Which we found out means they keep the fat on and we'd recommend it that way! Everything was delicious. The baked beans and cold slaw were lovely sides and all the bbq sauces were awesome. We made a tester paper to compare all the sauces. Might just be the best piece of half chicken I've ever had in 57 years. The baked beans were fabulous. I crumbled up my cornbread and mix it in there with them and the mac & cheese was outstanding but what I most impressed with is that every day, everything stops in the restaurant and everybody stands to pay their respects to the flag and they play the Star-Spangled Banner. Found this place on our drive to Lexington Kentucky and thought what the heck, let's try some different barbecue. So glad we stopped in, I had to have chicken with potato salad. The chicken almost fell off the bone and were so tender and tasty, I've got to say this is really the best barbecue chicken I've had. The staff in the restaurant were unusually friendly, checked up on us at least a couple of times, and near the end of our meal one of the wait staff came over and said because we hadn't been there before he gave us two banana puddings and two cards for free sandwich on another visit. They didn't even have to do that cuz I was already hooked on the taste of the chicken. I don't think we have these in Texas, but the next time we're on a road trip and we come across one of these restaurants in the general area, it will be a must stop. Soooooo, I'd written a check to my landscapers today that exhausted most of the money in one of our bank accounts. Not knowing that they had already cashed it, I called in a 3-meat plate order at Mission for pick up. I walked in, stood in a short line and gave them my name when I got up to the counter. The employee rang me up and I swiped the card associated to the account where that I'd wiped out. The transaction only ran for about half of the total of the meal, which weirded us both out so she ran it again. The second time the card ran, it got declined. When this happened, the girl running the register said under her breath "it got declined". I didn't hear her, so I ask her what she just said. While looking around, she leaned in and whispered "There's no money on there". I almost died laughing right there. The way she leaned in like it was the biggest secret to life's unanswered questions to then just say in a super low voice that I was broke made the whole thing hilarious to me. After using another card for the remainder of the balance, I took it home and tried it out. This place is really good. It's the closest to Texas BBQ that you can get without traveling or cooking for 14 hours. Will be recommending this spot, and definitely will be returning. Glad to have this spot in town. read more

Americana means you're getting the hometown customer service and the reliability of a chain restaurant quality food quality. It's quick and they even have items for vegetarian tastes. It's also very clean there. They have staff that loop the dining area just to make sure you've got what you need. Sad that they did away with an in-person military discount. Especially since MBBQ is effusively promilitary and first responder friendly. They have a rewards program that at least for me is less of a draw than an in-person discount. Because of this policy change I don't eat there as much as I used to but the food is always wonderful and the service is always perfect. In this small Kentucky town there are plenty of local barbecue places to choose from. This is a chain restaurant that guarantees timeliness, cleanliness and consistently great BBQ and sides all served up by well-trained staff. That's all I'm gonna say about about all the choices in this town. If you want the best barbecue go ahead and read my review again. I like Mission BBQ, have eaten at several locations. Last time we ate at the BG Ky location we all got sick afterwards, lasted a couple of days. It was also very expensive and we had to throw all the leftovers away. Wish I had my money back on that expense. Hopefully it was a one time problem and is not an ongoing issue. I could start by giving rave reviews on the food. Delicious, tender and just the right amount of "smoke" authentic BBQ should have. When we replied no, the woman explained the full menu to us and how ordering worked. Everything is "a la carte". She was so kind and friendly. A true definition of southern hospitality. The food is to die for, the atmosphere is riveting, and this is now my go-to place for bbq. I will support any restaurant that honors service members + veterans. My only reason for a loss in a star is because I asked the cashier if my meal comes with a drink or not. He proceeds to tell me that next time, if I don't ask that question and simply ask for a drink, he will give it to me for free because "they're just nice like that", but this time, he will have to charge me because I inquired. First, I wasn't too fond with his response, when all it warranted was a "yes" or "no" -- given the times we're in, I try to save where I can and only get a drink if it's included in a meal (never purchase one). Considering I still don't have clarity as to whether the drink is free or not with a meal, I won't be requesting one going forward as this decision may vary by employee. read more

We saw this place go up and always wondered how the food was but I'm not a big barbecue person so I thought I'll never try it. Today I was craving barbecue chicken and I didn't feel like cooking so we decided to give it a try. I got half a yard bird and I didn't want any sides and my chicken was so delicious ! From the time you walk into the restaurant, everyone is super friendly. As I walked in there was a gentleman taking the garbage out of the garbage bins and he smiled and said, "how you doing ma'am?" and I said, " great, how are you?" and he said" blessed". I then went up to order our food. I told her it was my first time and she was super friendly and super nice and because it was my first visit they gave me a free piece of pie. I ordered half a yard bird for myself and for my daughter I ordered a half a yard bird with a side of macaroni and cheese. My husband didn't want barbecue he said but when I came home he said it smelled so good. I had him taste it and he thought it was delicious! They do a dry rub on the chicken before they cook it but as I was waiting, I saw other peoples food come up pulled pork sandwiches, brisket it all looked delicious! We are definitely going to have to go back and try some more of the food .Unknown to me, you get a delicious big chunk of cornbread that comes with the food you get. And everything cost under $25. I would highly recommend this place and we will definitely be going back! I may even get them for a big party I'm planning next year as they cater. read more
