Food was delicious and the staff is wonderful!!! Between our group we had pork, chicken, and brisket. Every one was absolutely perfect. Nice flavor - and I didn't even add sauce to mine. Nothing tasted dried out or greasy. The blueberry cobbler was so good - you've gotta try it!! Upon realization it was the first visit for three of the four in our party, one employee made it his "mission" to make sure we had a great experience. He made sure we knew everything about the sauces they offered including the ones that weren't kept at the tables. We had not ordered fries but he wanted to make sure we sampled them. I guess he knew we would be hooked after we did. We stayed there for two hours catching up with old friends and never felt rushed when it got close to closing. We will all be going back here very soon. I wish there was one closer to my house in Sarasota... Within 4 miles of Honore and Proctor if you're considering expansion!!! read more

Good food, we had a variety of brisket, turkey, mac & cheese, green beans and beans...All was good...corn bread was "okay" ...now the service, this was my first time in. I did not find the girl who took my order friendly at all- seemed a little impatient when I asked questions...I loved that when my order was ready Jacob took the time to explain what I had, and how to use the sauces...It was an added bonus. Ordered the brisket sandwich and potatoes. The brisket was about half fat, about 1/100th of an inch of ring on it and zero flavor. May as well have been boiled. The bun was shiny with grease. The potatoes were relatively salty and a small portion. The atmosphere was very very gimmicky in my opinion. We arrived about 11:45 am not knowing that at noon they ask everyone to stand and join them in the star spangled banner. It was basically a restaurant filled with strangers awkwardly trying to not make eye contact with each other for a very long couple of minutes. Lastly, they charge a premium for their not so good food. It was bad enough that I actually stepped away from a half eaten sandwich and ate when I got home. Every single thing is delicious!! The pulled pork, brisket and pulled chicken are amazing. The green beans are so good and Smokey. The N'awlins corn and cheesy potatoes are seasonal sides but I wish they had them all the time. The Smokey Mountain sauce is out of this world. My husband loves this place too so we have been at least twice a week since they've opened. Very impressed!! read more

The brisket was hardly edible this evening. It was a bit dry the first time I visited this location, so I wanted to give it a second chance. I took my parents there tonight and we all agreed we won't be returning. Furthermore, for the price you pay, they can at least have a system where they bring the food to your table after standing in line to pay and order. read more

Good food. I had pulled pork sandwich with fries..good. Roommate had beef brisket with fries and declared both to be good. The little buckaroo that we brought along had a slider and mac and cheese which she said was fine too. Self serve sodas from the fountain and about $10 per head by the time you are done. 6 different sauces..no Tony Romas, but all good. This place ( while a chain) far exceeds the Pig out on Manatee. Amazing barbecue!!! The baby back ribs are amazing, and the brisket was super moist, but make sure you ask for a rarer cut. My two favorite sides were the corn pudding and the mac-n-cheese. They have an excellent assortment of sauces at your table. This is a must try! read more

Solid bbq. Not too much smoke, but flavorful. We had pulled chicken sandwich, which was very good, the meat was highly seasoned but no sauce. It was good just plain. There are 6 sauces to choose from at the table. Loved the Gator sauce best. Spicy and sweet, but not cloying. The chopped brisket is served with the Memphis sauce already on it. Husband loved it, I could do without so much sauce. Fries were delish and the coleslaw seems freshly prepared, not wilted, swimming in mayo and with an abundance of celery seed. We are so happy that Mission BBQ opened up in Bradenton! We absolutely love this place. The pulled pork is a personal fave and has always been very moist. My husband enjoys the ribs. The cheesy potatoes, Mac and cheese, and green beans are our favorite sides. Let's not forget about their awesome sauces too! The vinegar sauce is hard to find at most places and is just delicious! The last two times we've visited, we had the pleasure of talking to Alexandria in the dining room. What a ball of sunshine and energy she is! She truly makes us feel like valued guests. We tried to go to T & L but they were closed. (Again. Hm.) We then found Mission BBQ. Pros: Friendly staff. Very helpful people. Atmosphere a bit overdone, but it's their living room, not mine. Cons: Prices were pretty high for what you got. $18.95 brought us a "full slab" of baby back pork ribs, overdone just enough to remind you that you should have gone somewhere else. "Cheesy potatoes", why not take some white Velveeta-type cheese and throw it into some mashed potatoes from a box? Mac and cheese was average. The most annoying thing was the brisket - one medium-sized piece, about as far from "melt in your mouth" or "falling off the bone" as you could get. Collard greens were good. If you like real barbecue, avoid the sauces here. There are six on every table, and "average" is too kind a word. We spent $38+ on lunch for two, and threw away the leftovers. There's a push at the counter/cash register for you to buy their "personalized" drink glass, a plastic cup about the size of a medium at any Go-Mart. They say a portion goes back to the USO. They're very gung-ho armed forces, but it started me wondering. If the whole point is to care about America and our future, why not use biodegradable cups and plastic ware? Or have garbage and recycling separated? I know that seems like a silly, small thing, but in for a penny, in for a pound. If you're going to shut down at noon each day to play the National Anthem (does everyone stop eating and stand up to salute?), and hold yourself out as a chain that contributes to causes like the USO and Fallen Firefighters, it would also be nice to see what percentage of the gross actually goes to those charities. They don't seem to be listed on Charity Navigator either. (Though it is possible they operate under another corporate name and are listed there.) At any rate, don't go expecting good food. Like most other chains, it's relying on its reputation, its speed, and people like us, who hoped for some good BBQ and wound up with none. read more

Love this place. Love turkey and their turkey is wonderful. The baked beans and mac'n'cheese are my favorites. My husband loves the brisquit and fries. I have been to several MB and love the National Anthem at 12 noon - it brings tears to my eyes when everyone stands. Have eaten here 3 times.....excellent every time. Won't be going back to Dickie's any more. I order smoked turkey....Dickie's quit serving it. Also, the sweet cornbread is like dessert. Beats that dry bread you have to pay extra for at Dickie's when you just order meat and a side. read more

For an impromptu picnic we tried Mission BBQ for the first time. Upon entering, the slight wood smell was right, the huge in-house smokers and sufficient employees to get the job done quickly, all seemed very promising. We asked for fatty brisket and although great, it was a bit dry. We wished that the hostess would have explained they would have doused it in au jus if desired.The pulled pork was good and moist. The baked beans were fantastic. The fries though were quite disappointing. The to-go sauces were numerous, but too commercial tasting. The most important personal is the first one a customer meets. Their employees are like children in the kitchen with no customer relations skills. All in all, though, I can't wait for their Sarasota location opening next year. read more

After watching all those BBQ shows on TV it's nice to have a BBQ joint in town that stands up to the T.V. BBQ hype. My sliced smoked turkey platter was delicious. The sauce variety is good with 6 kinds, plus mustard style. All the sides we've tried are tastey. The lemonade is just right, great for washing down the chow. Service is quick, food comes out quick, prices are far. Oh, 1 time my beef brisket was kind of dry, I had asked for "wet". Self serve, but someone always comes by your table to check on you. My family and I finally went in to try this place after we drove by multiple times and saw a huge black military truck that had a smoker in the back of it! So we went in and the ambience is incredible, they have a great purpose for what they're doing for our first responders and military. The service was incredible. Price was fine, especially for how much food you get for your money. But the taste of the smoked food, brisket, pulled pork, turkey, and chicken. Unbelievable. Followed up by banana bread pudding, so good. Can't wait to go back, recommend everyone try this place out. read more

I don't know where to begin. They have some of the worst BBQ I have ever had. My wife and I both had the 2 meat combo with the brisket and jalapeño sausage. My wife had the beans and the Mac and cheese for her sides and I had the fries and coleslaw. Let's start with the brisket, it was dry and flavorless. The sausage was greasy and had an odd flavor to it. I took a bite of one of the pieces of sausage and had to really bite into it to get the meat off of the outer casing. The beans were so bad my wife couldn't eat them after one bite and the coleslaw was dry and tasteless. The bbq sauce in the table was bad and the Texas sauce was gross. Texas doesn't put Worcester sauce in its bbq sauce and the cornbread was so hard you could break out a window with it. If your brisket is Texas inspired you need to go back to Texas and get inspired again. I thought Sonny's bbq was the worst I had ever had but I was wrong. And if you question if I know bbq, I do because I am from Texas and have had some of the best bbq in the world before. I felt bad when we finished because one of the young men that works there came to our table and asked us how everything was and I had to lie to him that everything was ok. (OMG) My sister and I was out about town on a Wednesday taking care of a few things that she had to do. When we completed her to do list we desided to get lunch. We call one of our brother to meet us at Applebee's for lunch he suggested we try The new place in town Mission BBQ. When we arrive at lunch time it was very busy everybody seem to be enjoying there meals. I ordered baby back ribs my sister and brother ordered chicken. Service was fast and friendly. That was the best part about our visit the food was horrible my ribs taste baked and old my brother said his chicken was without taste and not very good Sis did her best to make the best of things but eventually toss in the towel as well. We all agreed this was by far the worst outing we had (food wise) in along time. I am convince they must have a lot of first time coustomer I can't see anyone returning here a second time. I never write reviews and never send food back or acts for discount meals but I was willing to make and exception had I seen the Manager. This is not a place I would feel comfortable telling anybody to try. read more
