This is a medium size location with a very open environment. I like how they have the drinks sitting in ice as you walk in. The staff at the counter was really friendly and even offered us a sample of beer. We ordered the ribs and the brisket but made the mistake at ordering the moist brisket which I didn't care for but the ribs were outstanding. My boyfriend and I always noticed this place while we are in the city and well we decided to finally drop by and try them out. When you enter you can smell the food being cooked inside the restaurant. You can tell this place honor the men & women in uniform. Which I Love! This place is awesome. I loved everything! I love the name Mission BBQ, and I love their "mission" too. Right when you walk in, there's decoration and patriotism everywhere! Really fun to see! Awesome environment with good music in the background. The food was incredible. I had a pulled pork sandwich with Memphis Belle sauce, side of fries, and side of Mac and Cheese. The sandwich all together was quite simple, but exactly how I like it. I got a good portion of meat and it was very moist. The bun didn't break apart either! Finally a good bun! The fries were fresh and definitely hand cut. I wished they were crisper, but that's just me. Mac and Cheese was great too! To drink I had a lemonade and it tasted fresh and high quality! The last time I visited Mission BBQ was when they had first opened many years ago, I like the fact that they support military personnel, especially since My child just finished serving 10 years in thE US Navy. (Proud Navy Mom) Before it was more of a sit down type of place where you were shown to a table and they had weight staff, but now it's more of a fast food place where you go to the counter order your food and you sit at a table. I was disappointed in the flavor of pretty much everything, we got the new Hawaiian ribeye, and it was super thin, tough to cut, and completely dry, we ordered two of those, we also did the two meat sampler, and the three meat sampler the sausage was so tough and robbery and the pulled pork was dry The ribs were completely overcooked like it was more bones than meat, I kid you not. Sadly, I was disappointed on many levels, I gave it three stars because the staff was very friendly, the place was very clean, you can entertain yourself by glancing at the many pictures. They have posted all over the walls of military and first responders, there was someone who walked around and asked if we were OK and if we needed anything which I greatly appreciated, their lemonade and tea was delicious, and perfectly brewed. I made myself a flip-flop by mixing the two which turned out awesome, we also got the mac & cheese, which was OK, the coleslaw was OK, the beans was nice because they add brisket to it but it's nothing to write home about. Would I recommend this place, NO, there are so many other little Barbecue places in Broward that I would go to before I ever make my way back to Mission barbecue, for the price, the amount of food and how dry and tough ALL of the meats we ordered was, I would not recommend it. Normally, I would say maybe we got a few bad pieces, but there were, five of us and none of us enjoyed our meal. So would I recommend this place, no. Will I ever go back again? No We did take the leftovers to go and I feed it all to my pet pig. He enjoyed it. Being Veterans Day I decided to come here (well a day after, but for public schools being off its Veterans Day) Also because it was trending as "hot and new" for awhile now. It had an marine and navy theme type of ambience. God Bless America! For first timers like myself, I saw that they had a sampler. A 2 meat and a 3 meat... I guess to try a little bit of every meat. I wasn't really hungry but I wanted to try their top 2 suggestions which was the pulled pork and the brisket. I also tried their Mac n cheese which was very good with a crunchy texture. When getting my order, I think the manager asked me if it was my first time... but he didn't really ask anyone else that? I guess he knew that an "elite" was in the building ;). He casually explained to me the process of how the food is prepared.. through the oven and not the microwave. He told me that there are utensils over there neatly organized and labeled. That there are 6 sauces (3 spicy and 3 sweet) so have a little fun! Which was very useful. The pulled pork, Mac n cheese, and cornbread did not disappoint. I really like mission bbq. Their employees are always nice and ready to answer any questions you have. If they could relax on the amount of salt used in their food, it would be perfect. Let me be clear, I love well seasoned food, but their food is beyond that. Everything is heavily seasoned down to their cheesy potatoes, which is the reason I don't go there often. Just tried their seasonal caramel bread pudding. They allowed me to sample it. I've never been a fan of bread pudding but it was so good I ended up buying it. Mission BBQ not only serves up some of the best BBQ in South Florida, customer service was spectacular. We went with the family after our visit to the nursery and I've never heard of this place; I relied on my handy yelp app and it pointed me right here. Upon walking inside, you'll find an eclectic collection of Military, Police and Fire uniforms, photos, and a tribute to September 11 all over the walls that are just amazing to see. It makes you feel quite patriotic and if you're feeling anything at all, you're not from the USA. 5/5 Pork Ribs were full of flavor and came with 2 sides. There's a slight kick to the rub so if you can't handle the slightest of black pepper, I'd order something else. 5/5 Beef Brisket was another winner...very tender and full of flavor but not over exceedingly as they have 6 different sauces on the table for you to give your dish that particular BBQ taste. 5/5 Side dishes, French Fries, Mac n Cheese, Sweet Potato, Cole Slaw were all excellent, super fresh and a nice amount. 5/5 Customer Service was on point; there was a young lady walking around checking up on the tables to see how everything was, and she also assisted in removing empty plates from the table. We have been to the Mission Barbeque on Sterling Avenue in Peoria, Illinois on several occasions. The food is always excellent (especially the ribs), and all the help is friendly and ready to help in anyway they can. Recently when our family of 9 was there, we had the pleasure of meeting Travis Gilmore, the General Manager. I now know why the store and employees are Great. Travis is friendly, very personable and was anxious to take the time to tell us the difference between spareribs and babyback ribs when asked. I've always heard that a restaurant is only as good as its manager and, in this case, I believe that to be true. This restaurant should flourish as long as Kevin is the manager. Try It!! read more

Had the BBQ chopped Brisket sandwich and threw up after I ate. I called manager and said the chopped brisket or BBQ sauce was bad and I got sick from it with in 5 minutes of eating. He said they test the meat all the time and didn't think it was that. Also said he would call me back which he never did. I have eaten there before and not gotten sick but I won't be trying it again. I was hesitant to post this but I never received a call back which to me was not acceptable if you say you will call me back. I only called to let them know the food was bad so NO ONE else would get sick. I knew within 5 minutes of eating it something wasn't right. I've been here twice so far over the past couple of months. The service is always great. The last time I was there Yvette greeted me at the front and was so welcoming that I just wanted to order everything on the menu. The first time I was here I tried burnt ends. Although I liked the texture I found the barbecue sauce too sweet for my taste. However, it was prepared well. The second time I visited I tried the two meat combo. I ordered brisket (lean) , Pulled pork, and coleslaw. The brisket was really dry and the portion was very small. I pretty much used it as a vehicle to sample all the sauces. The pulled pork was very tender and fresh. I would order that again. The coleslaw was good as well. I also like the unlimited refills on fountain drinks and the six different barbecue sauces on each table. I'd still go back to try some more of their menu items. read more

I'd like to start by saying the staff was very nice and friendly. I like that there is plenty of sauce you can choose from to smother the meats in. My favorite sauce was the Texas twang it has a BBQ/ A1 sauce type flavor to it I ordered the brisket and the baby back ribs with a side of coleslaw. The brisket was nice. It was juicy had a nice Smokey flavor and fell apart when stabbed with a fork. The ribs I have mixed motions. My first piece was juicy they rest were a little on the dry side. As for the slaw it was a basic slaw with a ton of celery seed which I wasn't a fan of. Now why I give this place 3 stars is although the meats have a great Smokey flavor it's just not the type of BBQ I was looking to get. The meats also looked very plain. I honestly like when the sauce is put on the meat (ribs for example) and put on the grill so the sauce kinda caramelizes on it iykyk. Also to mention is that it's kinda pricey for such little portion of food. Paying that much I feel like the presentation could be better but I understand why it's so plain is because you get to choose your sauce. To each his own though. When you walk in, you'll first notice the awesome tribute the entire restaurant pays to military and first responders. It is impressive. You order at the counter and their menu is simple yet plentiful. The cashier was friendly too. I ordered the two meat combo with two sides and wow you get a lot of food! The meats are tender and they don't come pre-sauced, so you get to add whatever sauce you want to them. And they offer a lot of sauces to choose from! The sides are so good. Great food. Portions are kind of small and there is no such thing as a "combo platter" for big eaters. Also, the seating sucks. You seat yourself. And it's not uncommon to find single diners taking up an entire booth and you and your family can not sit together. To avoid this, we usually get our food to go. Otherwise a solid 5 stars. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but I definitely was not impressed with this restaurant. I got the Brisket sandwich and mac and cheese. For me, the sauce used in the brisket was not to my liking. It was too sharp for me, which ruined the whole flavoring. Oh, and the mac and cheese was not very good, in fact in needed more cheesiness. I mean, I really liked the aesthetic of the restaurant and what it was trying to go for, but this location was just not my cup of tea. My Mom got the sliced brisket and she was not impressed with the cut. She said the meat was a bit dry and chewy. She got a side of beans which she also complained about the sharpness of the BBQ sauce it came in. At the end of the day, both of us were not very impressed. What a pleasant surprise. I went here with my friend for the first time since I had two coupons for a free sandwich. First timer and I get to the counter and the cashier Britney could tell that I was knew to the restaurant. I asked what she would recommend and here she comes with samples to help me make my decision. After ordering my friend and I were looking for napkins and trying to figure out how the whole process worked. Do we wait for our food, do we sit, etc. Here comes Lili, who just knew we were newbies at the restaurant. She came back a few times and asked how everything was, brought us a few more samples, and even chatted with us from time to time. It felt as though I had come in here a few times. Later the Manager, Rob also stopped by and treated us to dessert. Even Horacio stopped by to check on us and make sure we didn't need anything. The establishment is very clean and well into their theme of All American and branches of the military, and other services like local firefighter and police squads.
