I stopped in today to check this place out. Staff - friendly service was quick Price - startled me 20.00 for a rib and chicken combo and an extra side of beans was amazing value. Location - dated but clean and spacious Food - quantity absolutely great for the price. Chicken was edible however nothing special . Ribs was moist, juicy with a nice bark. French fries were crisp and star of the meal for me. The cole slaw was tasty. The beans were disappointing, cold and tasteless. Location looks dated but clean. The Smokey smell was fantastic from the road. The blonde lady that took care of me was a boss. Answering the phone, ringing people up, packing the to-go boxes all at once while the younger guy was leaning on the counter with his arms folded. (I should have taken a picture). I got there at around 6:10 and that's why I feel that the food was not on point. The Mac n cheese was over cooked, soggy and greasy. Looked like it was the same batch from the morning maybe. Same thing with the beans. Stodgy and coagulated into a firm mush ball. It didn't move once it cooled down a bit. The BBQ ribs were indeed Smokey and soft so they get points for the ribs being nice. The pork plate was just dry. Yes it was Smokey but dry dry dry. The lady up front was pleasant and efficient and probably needs a raise since she's doing a fantastic job while being pleasant at the same time. We use to go here back in the 60's when I was growing up in Plantation. Fond memories, but like everything else things change. I was soooo disappointed. The chopped meat we got in our pork sandwiches had lots and lots of burnt to charcoal chunks which were bitter and like eating gravel. Tried to pick them out. Ordered to go food. Came inside to order, it was lunch time. 12:30 Wednesday 5/13/26. I see the window full of tickets so I can understand a moderate wait time. Server takes my order and just never looks at me for the next half hour. I can see after about 15 minutes a bag of food and two to go boxes appear in the window. 10 minutes goes by, another staff member moves the food to the front near me. Another 10 minutes goes by and I'm asking for my food because nobody's look my way since I ordered. After me asking, she turns around and says it just came out and that burgers take longer to make. I've been watching the food for the last 20 minutes die in the window. Now she's lying to me as if I'm incoherent. We went in here this afternoon for an early dinner. The place is pretty run down with all the old booths and tables, as well as restrooms that are outside. A very strange set up. The BBQ menu was totally disappointing with the lack of baby back ribs and the lack of brisket. I don't know why you would call yourself a BBQ restaurant without those key popular items. We ordered two platters, one with just pork ribs, fries, and macaroni salad, and the other with ribs, quarter chicken white, and fries with coleslaw. We also ordered a bowl of chili which was the best food we ate out of the bunch. The chili had some good flavor but the accompanied crackers tasted stale. The ribs were very tough and hard to eat. The fries were very plain as well as the macaroni salad. The coleslaw was far too sweet and watery. The quarter chicken white breast had no taste at all to it, which was very disappointing. We finished our meal with the banana pudding, which tasted pretty good, but for $4.75 you seem to only get four spoonfuls, which was shocking. The service here is about the only good thing I can mention about this place. Our server was friendly and quick. But, the main point is that the BBQ here is just awful. read more

In for something new. Always get a chopped pork sandwich. Ordered a sliced pork plate. Came with fries and toasted bread. Fries were old. Sliced pork would have been cut from a pork butt. We stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner. We weren't sure if they were doing only take out or you could dine in. Turns out, they pack everything for take out, but you can eat your food there. The restaurants is a small building on the west side of 441. It's considered classic, but is also a bit run down to be honest. Not the place for a fancy meal or first date. Bathrooms are accessed from the outside on the side of the building. I ordered the chopped bbq pork sandwich. Instead of fries, I got their baked beans. The four stars of this review are all for the pork -- which was fantastic! The meat was soft and flavorful and had a nice char/crust on the outside. It comes plain, but I did try some of their mustard based bbq sauce (the other choices are hot sauce or ketchup). So, if you can't tell -- get the pork. The beans on the other hand were just so so. In fact, I tasted them once and then didn't finish them. My husband also ordered the pork, but as a combo plate with two sides. For sides he got macaroni salad and baked beans. He felt the same way about the beans as did I. On the other hand, we both liked the macaroni salad -- not too much mayo mixed with elbow pasta. I think I'd like to try their potato salad next time, as well. We got a slice of their coconut cream pie to go. They said that this pie, plus the chocolate cream and the pecan pie are all made in house. (BTW, their fruit pies are made off site, but baked there). I had the pie at home later. The filling was okay, but the fake whipped topping didn't appeal. They only had a few booths set aside to sit in, but that was fine as we were one of only 2 tables dining there. Really good BBQ spot! The prices make you feel like you're at a 1970's diner. Definitely worth coming here to try. BBQ pick 2 combo with bread & 2 sides was an absolute feast for like $17. Some feedback to improve: 1) a sign or a stand that says "please seat yourself". It eliminates the aspect of customers standing at the front not knowing what to do & waiting for a server who will just say "seat yourself" 2) A vent fan at the front door to keep any flies out. There wasn't many tbh but this should stop the probem 3) Add bacon to the collard greens & add a sauce with a little more flavor. Something a little spicy but not overboard 4) add 1 more type of sweet bbq sauce at the table (good spicy options, something sweet will round it out) 5) find out a way to make the bbq a little less tough and dry. Worth the price and all but this would take it next level & u would have room to increase prices & sales. Might be tough with your current method of cooking it though. I hope the owner finds this feedback well, and I do appreciate the hospitality I was given. Looking to come back and maybe see a few changes for the better. This is a quirky little ancient BBQ spot. The value is good for what you get. The food is solid and has a very distinctive style, which is what you want in a BBQ joint: Something that stands out from the rest. There are some surprises on the menu, like awesome chili and the Brunswick stew. No fried okra, but that's getting harder to find for us fans. They have a few BBQ sauces and all were fine, but no truly spicy option (not a deal breaker at all, but we like spicy food!). Here's the quirky part... It's a mom-n-pop (which we LOVE), but mom and pop like to go to bed early, so they close at 6:45p and 4:45p on Saturday maybe for the Sabbath because they are closed on Sunday. AAAANNNDDDD... It's a minor one: Most BBQ joints have great GREENS. Not so here. I might be mistaken but I think these are out of a can and then fancied up a bit. Went here for the first time today. Walked in and every table was taken but quickly got a seat. It was also lunch time but to me that's a good sign the food is good! When I first looked at the menu I couldn't believe how cheap it was! I ordered the Spare ribs which came with french fries, cole slaw, and a buttered roll. My boyfriend got the chopped pork sandwich and we shared mac and cheese and collard greens. I really enjoyed my spare ribs and the sauce that comes on it. I thought they could have been a little bit more "fall off the bone" but I also couldn't stop eating them lol. My boyfriend's pork sandwich was delicious! The mac and cheese was sooo good! I thought the collards could have been more flavorful but still not bad. Even the french fries were good! We have been hitting a lot of BBQ places lately in the South Broward area and this is definitely now at the top of our list. This restaurant is a small, stand alone mom and pop style bbq stand on 441. The interior is small, yet cozy. There is a combination of bar seating, tabletops, and booths. Upon entering the building, you seat yourself. We were promptly greeted by a waitress and given menus and waters. We went towards the end of the night (it closes at 7) so they were out of the daily special. The table has a bottle of bbq sauce to add to any of the dishes. I ordered the bbq chicken platter. My husband ordered the bbq beef platter and his sister ordered the bbq pork platter. All the platters come with French fries, coleslaw, and bread. My bbq chicken was great. It was cooked to perfection and there was plenty of chicken. I also tried the other dishes, but didn't like them as much. The beef and the pork was kind of chewy. We all added more bbq sauce. Apparently they've been around since the 50s and from the looks of the building structure and terazzo flooring , not much has changed since the opening , which is partly what gives it that cute south Florida dine-in vibe. The food however is very subpar. It hardly met the requirements of a decent BBQ joint. I came in and ordered the pulled pork sandwhich, hot dog and macaroni . The sandwich was extremely rubbery, super dry, and had ZERO flavor. I had to grab barbecue sauce out of the pantry to dress it up . I was very let down . There's not much to say about a hotdog because all hotdogs are filled with preservatives so you can't really call any of them "good food" I did have to add relish and catch up for taste however. Now let's get onto the macaroni..... if you're looking for any kind of Soulfood comfort... you will not find it here. Pasta had no flavor, no cheese, and was so watery it wouldn't stay on the fork . It tasted a bit old as well . Unfortunately, it's a NO for me. I pass this place on the regular and decided to finally give them a try. Staff isn't too friendly nor did I feel like I received a welcoming energy. I ordered a bbq chopped beef sandwich. Where do I begin, fries were super cold, sandwich is bland and lacks favor. What makes things more disappointing is the lack of providing quality BBQ. As I'm eating my sandwich I couldn't finish it due to the lack of flavor, chewiness and they obviously don't do quality checks because they made my sandwich with the lettuce wrapping still attached to it. I gave two stars for EFFORT and the history of this location but besides that, do better. Making BBQ is an art. 08/17 Saturday @ 12:30 Disappointing food and possible discrimination? We're a low key local middle aged gay couple. We've had good experiences in the past but this maybe our last. No issue with the staff we engaged with; everyone pleasant and hard working. Chili was made of quality ingredients but had a strange chemical taste? Pulled pork sandwiches where undercooked; contained bits of muscle/bone and a strange acidic after taste. Callard Greens were poorly seasoned with no identifiable pork pc's. French Fries were slightly soggy. BBQ sources on table not marked and both were too sour. Owner/manager went to every table to ask how the food was but not ours and we were in the middle of the restaurant? The drop ceiling panels in the dinning room are all warped with visible water damage and mold. Meaning the situation on the other side of the panels would be a nightmare. This is a relatively easy fix without much investment but yet nothing is done? When we got home we both had extreme stomach issues and diarrhea for two days. Ate there again this Saturday, eleven years after my initial review. I tried not all but a lot BBQ places in Broward and South Palm Beach counties, and the Pig still wears the crown. So nothing has changed, including my rating. Ok, except they now offer Espresso and Cortadito (yeah!), and specials like the new "Pig Bowl" [LOL] - Pork, Mac&Cheese and Collard Greens all in one bowl. Haven't tried it and not sure I will, but for a tongue-in-cheek pun on all those healthy grains/veggie/tofu bowls, the idea of a Pig Bowl is hilarious.
