You order, pick your own seat, then wait for your name to be called. Worth the money for food quality and portions. Will be returning without a doubt, both my boyfriend and I had zero complaints. Not sure if the BBQ sauce is made fresh on location or not, but the variety is great and the sauces have good flavors. Sort of like a Boston Market, but more delicious, as well as authentic. What a great restaurant! Everyone was so polite and thanked both me and my husband for our service. The manager came out to check on us and our meal was on the house due to not having what we had initially come out for. We just arrived to Delaware and they gave us a great first impression indeed. We ended up ordering a three meat plate with baked beans and Mac and cheese. The food was amazing. Tasty. I like the flare and spice that Mission Bbq puts into its meats the drawback of that is maybe the meats are over seasoned. That being said, the sides except the potatoe salad and fries that we had made up for it (namely the baked beans and mac and cheese ). Hmm.. a lot of the sauces that they had packed that heat which added diversity to each bite, most notably the Texas twang or was it the Bay Bq, you decide. Amazing in every way. blows where pigs fly and meat mechanics away. The pricing may seem high to some but you get a good amount of food to make it worth it. plus it's all amazing. The only thing I had from here that sucked is the cornbread. nice and sweet but too dry for me. Not a big fan of the pulled chicken here either but it's not the worst i've had. The mission has failed. My brisket, cut to order, was so dry I did not eat it. We took it home to the dog. The Cole slaw had no flavor. My husband's brisket was a little more juicy but still not a good quality sandwich. We typically do not dine at fast food franchise places but decided to give this one a try. My wife and I have drove past Mission BBQ several times and talked about stopping but never did. Well, today after realizing that our normal lunch spot wasn't open, we decided to stop and give it a try. Let me tell you...this place didn't disappoint! Staff was polite and cheery, atmosphere was great with military and local first responders memorabilia on the walls, and the food...amazing! My wife got the pulled pork sandwich combo (one side and a drink for an extra $3) and I got the beef brisket sandwich. We got both as combos as well as paid a little extra for a donation for a plastic first responders cup for only $25. A small price to pay for great BBQ. I highly recommend trying it out! read more

As a Charlestonian, I'm not impressed. But I'm happy to see a BBQ option like this in Dover (but it doesn't top the authenticity of Where Pigs Fly). Not a fan of the a-la-carte menu. Very expensive this way. The fries and dipping sauce were good. But the Pulled Pork was DRY. It wasn't nearly juicy or tender enough. I realize the concept at Mission BBQ is sauce-your-own (and there were great sauce options), but the sauce shouldn't have to compensate for the dryness. I really couldn't get past that. The staff here is friendly and attentive - our trays were taken and we were given information and tips about each sauce. Would maybe visit again if in the area, but it would not be my first choice. read more

Stopped in there after wrestling practice to have a decent but speedy meal with my bf. shew what an amazing experience! The staff were friendly and seemed happy while working hard. The best BBQ around and me being from the Carolinas, that's a huge deal! We will be back and cant wait to get more cheesy potatoes! Amazing to see such a clean environment with friendly staff who care about their jobs. It was even more amazing to see the young staff come together and purchase a meal for a homeless man who came in to get warm and get a beverage. Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy my go to BBQ fix..... this place is off the hook....... I am like a kid at Christmas when I know I am gonna be near there around eating time....... the food just melts in your mouth!!!! The big plus for me... choosing your own flavor of sauce...... I like to mix them together and damn it's like you died and went to heaven The only complaint I have...... no fried okra....... but I can live with that..... but if you ever add it to your menu I am there every day!!!! I wish there were half stars. I would rate Mission a 4.5. The food is great. Customer service is always on point. I haven't had a bad thing yet. The only 2 down sides are the greens weren't as great as I had been told (they were good but people were raving about them) and I wish the menu would have a few surprise items on the menu i.e. sausages or a burger one weekend a month. Know this before you go in that it's a order and grab type of restaurant. Then you seat yourself. Inside the vibe is great. All you see is support for military, police enforcement, fire fighters etc. I ended up ordering at lunch the meat platter, which I picked pulled pork, chicken, and brisket the lean cut. I would review all 6 sauces for you on the table but they are all good. I would tell you the Kansas City one is my favorite has a nice kick but a solid BBQ after taste. The meats were all so moist to. Brisket you didn't need a knife for because it was already falling apart on your fork. Pulled pork I thought was very good. But the chicken I thought was the best. Was so moist and had a rub that had a very nice kick. I came in during lunch time, which it was still busy but during dinner time it's nearly impossible to find a table. Service was great here. I didnt ask for any type of military discount. It was my first time eating here. I'm not a fan of the over glorified Patriotism and military insignia every where but that could be due to me seeing it on a regular basis. I ordered the pulled chicken and tried the 6 sauces on the table. I found I really enjoyed 2 of the six. I got sweet tea but mixed it with unsweetened because it was really sweet. Wonderful addition to the area's eating experiences. The "Mission" isn't a building but an idea that is sadly lacking. Armed Forces and First Responders are respected there. That being said, the food is first rate and the staff as well. We had the "Meat Samples" with beans. Wonderful pulled pork, cerizo, and beans with brisket. And corn bread. All well made and presented in a rustic manner. Yum! The decor was surrounded with patches from units, ladder companies, police patch AND the "Missing Man Table" in one corner. RESPECT is shown here.
