BBQ is decent but not great and overpriced. Not a place I will probably go back to there are many other better options for BBQ in the area

I always pick the two or three meat platter because all of the bbq here is delicious. The restaurant itself supports veterans which is also a plus. This dining experience I chose the handmade fries (sprinkled them with old bay seasoning that's available.. because delicious), the pulled pork and the "wet" brisket. They have 6 available house made sauces, the Texas twang and smoky mountain are my two person favorites. Making it a full meal and adding a drink the massive amount of food only cost me about $15. Which with my normal appetite it even gave me enough left for a good afternoon lunch. For anyone visiting or residing in Evansville I would recommend this ad a goto bbq place. read more

One of the best chain BBQ restaurants I've been too. Cafeteria style dining, you order at the counter and sit down, staff is friendly. There are nice touches like 6 styles of BBQ sauce at the table and a roll of paper towel when things get messy. Food is always fresh and tastes great, the jalapeno sausage is the best I've had. Atmosphere needs to be worked on, it kind of makes you feel out of place, as if you're sitting in a highschool gym at an awards ceremony. Husband and I have been driving an hour and 45 minutes to eat here at least once a month *for* several months now so I figured I should write a review. We might be addicted to mission's Alabama white bbq sauce and their smoked turkey. I have zero shame about it and constantly recommend people also make this drive to try it. We have never had bad service. Always friendly and it means a lot that the managers remember us and ask how we've been. I've ate at this Mission numerous times, as well as the one in Nashville. Every single time I visit I leave sad, because I wish I could stay and eat so much more. Mission has the best set of employees of any chain restaurant in the region. The pork, Turkey, brisket, macaroni, fries, and desserts are a can't miss. The sauces on the tool box are outstanding, however, the ones on the table are mediocre. If you are looking for sauce, go for the Alabama White, Baja Bold, and the Georgia Mustard on the toolbox. While the employees were great, my experience was ruined by the food. I was forced to order the pulled chicken sandwich (as they were out of pulled pork) with macaroni and cheese and a blueberry cobbler. The sandwich arrived with undercooked chicken and a soggy bun, which is expected with barbecue, but not immediately upon arrival. The sauces provided on the table were all unsatisfying, though I have since learned that there are other, better sauce options near the utensils. The macaroni and cheese was decent, but it was the delicious blueberry cobbler and the employees that saved them from a one-star rating. The cashier must have heard me talking about the blueberry cobbler, because she gave it to us for free after we told her it was our first time. They sent me a gift card, so I will be reassessing my review upon my second visit. read more

Even though it's not a "sit down" restaurant, you still get that feel. The atmosphere is welcoming and you never feel rushed. The service to order your food is quick and simple. The food comes out very fast, and the employees getting your order to you are extremely friendly. The dining room staff has always been very helpful. I came here and was really impressed with the atmosphere and the how friendly and helpful the staff was. But the BBQ tasted like fast food bbq. I got the brisket, mac and cheese, cole slaw, and cornbread. The mac and cheese and the cornbread were great, but the slaw and brisket were underwelming. I doubt that I will come back on my own. Buy, maybe one day I will give them a second chance. Maybe they just had an off day today. read more

Ok I know this is an odd thing to focus on but I was amazingly super pleasantly surprised at how moist the chicken we got from them was. I guess I was so thrilled because before the meal had started I had resigned myself to more dry chicken from yet another BBQ joint that I'll have to soak in sauce and it didn't even need sauce to be tasty so thumbs up on that one. Great food, I've been hooked on the jalapeño sausage! I love BBQ places that give you a variety of choices on sauce, I know some people prefer it differently but this is my opinion. It has been clean every time I come in and I love that they have a spot reserved for veterans up front. Have eaten here with my family numerous times. Food is always fantastic. Haven't had anything yet that was not delicious and plentiful. Favorites would have to be the spare ribs and pulled pork. Even our two year old granddaughter loves going here. We took our son here to eat when he returned home after 7 yrs. in the U.S. Air Force and they treated him like royalty. Wonderful food, super friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced and nice interesting décor. They also contribute to active military, veterans and first responders. This was the best BBQ I've ever had. I live for Mac n cheese as well and didn't finish it so as to leave more precious stomach space for the meat. I got the 3 meat combo and couldn't finish that either. Luckily I have a fridge in my hotel so I wrapped it up. I'm in town for a short time and I'm pretty sure this will be the only place I'll be eating dinner. Like every night, it's that good. Today I ate the best lunch I've ever had in Evansville. I had the pulled chicken with the (insanely good) mac and cheese and the (unbelievable) nawlins corn. The corn is seasonal, so if you see that it is available, get it and don't think twice about it. You'll never have better corn in your life. Ate here while on vacation, finding it by chance as we drove by. We had brisket sandwich with coleslaw side and a breading coated dark meat chicken dinner with beans. The breading on the chicken was a little spicy and since I really was craving plain BBQ chicken and didn't want a full 1/2 chicken, I took the breading off (it was good, just wasn't in the mood for it). First thing I would like to thank Mission for honoring all the real heroes out there. Now for the rest, atmosphere was nice. Your order is taken and you return to pick up your food, not sit down dining. Service was great very friendly and helpful. Now the food. I ordered the pulled pork North Carolina style (with slaw on top) and fries, was really tender and juicy. And their sides I didn't care for either....especially the baked beans. I like baked beans that have a little bit of sweetness to them and they have no sweetness whatsoever. Tasty, an assortment of BBQ sauces on the tables from various regions. Very friendly with a helpful staff. Brisket plate was plentiful and fork cut tender. Pulled pork sandwich was piled high with meat and slaw. My favorite collards were tender and well seasoned. Vinegar was on the table for those that want. The place was dedicated to the military and first responders. Tables and booths were provided along with a roll of paper towels at each. Also had a fall off bone rib which was tasty too.
