I know that Mission is a good sized chain (80ish locations) but this was my first visit to one. And honestly I was pretty impressed on all fronts. Now let's be clear - Mission doesn't replace your hole in the wall favorite, your locally owned spots (LD's for life!!) or anything in Texas. But it's solid - at least what the Mister and I tried was. So here's how it works - place your order at the counter & they'll call your name. Meat is served unsauced (as it should be). The price you see doesn't include sides, but you can add 1-2 plus a drink for a reasonable cost, or do things ala carte. You'll see your BBQ standards here (pork, ribs, brisket) plus a few unusual things like salmon and turkey (my favorite). Beyond the usual sides (Mac and cheese, beans, slaw) there is a seasonal offering, in my case it was blueberry cobbler. Have dessert as a side? Don't mind if I do! I had turkey with Mac and cheese and cobbler (above) and the Mister had the 1/2 chicken with beans and Mac. Both plates came with a nice sized slab of cornbread. My turkey was very moist, and had a good smoky flavor. We both agreed that our neat honestly didn't any sauce at all, but I did enjoy their version of Alabama white (suggested by a very nice employee) as well as the Baja Bold. My Mac and cheese was "ok" but the blueberry cobbler was great! I'd for real go back just for that and I'm not really a big dessert eater so that says something. Employees were uniformly friendly and helpful despite the crowds and the prices were reasonable ($28 for 2, with drinks and sides). Mission won't replace places like LD's but it's a good option when you get that craving. read more

The brisket sandwich is my favorite and pulled pork isn't bad either. I love the military theme and the veteran parking spot out front. Though its always vacant. I pass it up myself, so a more deserving veteran can use it. Great place and worth the drive. read more

Always great. Mission has brought amazing barbecue to the masses. Great portions and very reasonably priced, what more could you ask for. I tried the salmon this time and it was very good. Naturally I had to have the baked beans with Brisket yummy a meal in its self. My fave is the brisket by far the best anywhere. Don't forget to get a large drink in a plastic cup good for a dollar refill on your return trip. Once you come here you will be back! This was my first time visiting Mission Bbq. I was not disappointed. The outside is nice, the oversized military truck really captures your attention. The location is convenient, located in a strip mall. There's easy access and ample parking. The menu was overwhelming! In a good way. Yet simple enough to choose quickly. I ordered the brisket, pulled pork, and Turkey. Brisket and pulled pork being a must, in any bbq restaurant. I also ordered the peach cobbler/cornbread and fries. I personally can eat dessert anytime anyplace. I started with the peach cobbler, I nearly went and ordered 3 more. It was amazingly delicious. The brisket and pulled pork followed suit. Both were spectacular. The Turkey was good, not great. The fries were a bit over seasoned for my liking. They were still good enough to eat. And the cornbread was rather dry. If not for the cornbread this establishment would be on course for 5 starts. However, being a bbq place. You absolutely need to have good cornbread. It comes with the territory. I did like how the orders were quick to come out. And the decorations inside the business are unique and fun to look at. With or without the dry cornbread, I'll be back. read more

I am PICKY when it comes to bbq. Needs to be smokey, not fatty, and if they do a dry rub it's extra stars. Mission is legit great BBQ. I volunteered to pick up orders for the office and we tried all the meats. Turkey: Moist, smokey, thick sliced and spiced with dry rub Pulled Chicken: NOT dark meat woohoo! Mostly breast, smoky & spiced Pulled Pork: NOT fatty, smokey and mildly spiced Sliced Brisket: Smokey, flavorful, not dry, thick sliced Sausage (regular): Super flavorful and smokey Sides, cornbread, etc all legit and no complaints. I am excited that Kenosha got a Mission BBQ because it is a city with a lot of retired military members. The atmosphere is geared towards military services. Not only that they have some of the best barbeque that you are going to find around. You absolutely cannot go wrong with the brisket and they do not cheat on portion sizes either. The jalapeno cheddar sausage is probably one of my favorite meats that they have. They have salmon as well which I am waiting to try the next time I go. The macaroni and cheese is a good side option as well as the cheesy potato's. In the area on work and I'm slightly regretting coming here. Not because the food was bad or the service wasn't great, but because everything was so amazing and they don't have any in the Minneapolis area yet!! We showed up an hour before closing and they were so welcoming and friendly! They never seemed annoyed or rushed to get things done and close up. I ordered the jalapeno sausage and pulled pork and they were both fantastic. I had ordered before they graciously gave me a 3rd sample - this time of the turkey - and had I tried that before ordering I would've subbed the sausage for turkey (although the sausage was amazing too). I just did a side of fries, but they were exactly the way I like them - a little crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and perfectly salty. Their sauces, especially the mustard, were fantastic. Oh my goodness. This place just opened and it is incredible! Came here with my wife at 2pm during a snowstorm and it was PACKED. Pulled down sandwich was absolutely delicious and the fries were magnificent. Everything looked tremendous. They have six different BBQ sauces in the table, sell drinks either fountain style or in bottles (which are located in a trough with ice). Everything is reasonably priced. We love BBQ and we found this place on our way home after leaving the Pleasant Prairie Outlet Mall. The staff was very friendly, the place was very clean, and the military decor was interesting and inspiring. The food? Not so great. The hand-cut fries were outstanding, and the coleslaw and cornbread were very good. But the spare ribs were over cooked, dry, tough, and stringy: we ended up leaving big chunks that we couldn't chew on our plates. We were just going to eat what we could, leave, not say anything, and just chalk it up as a bad choice; but a staff member asked how everything was as we were getting ready to leave, so I just gave her a thumbs down. She was concerned, asked if we'd like another order to take home or a refund, but we turned down both. Maybe we just hit it on a bad day, but I was surprised that they would serve something like that. If you give it a try, I'd recommend taking a look at your ribs and saying something if they look over cooked--I wish we had. read more

After a 20 minute trek, I rolled up on a smoker truck outside of a restaurant. That impressed me. I had the sampler. The taste was ok. The skin on the sausage was a little thick. I have been here a few times. 1 was today at 12.00 noon. Engaged in conversation with my guest. I did not pay attention to my cerrounding until the Public Announcement came on. Then we noticed the wonderful thing that was happening. Everyone was standing and singing to our flag. Our American flag. I was so proud to be among true Americans. It was our first visit to Mission BBQ. We weren't sure if we were stayed to eat or taking it home until after we ordered. We decided to stay at the last minute. My husband and I didn't order drinks and someone over heard me say something to my husband. When I went up to order she was already there and handle me two cups telling me not to worry about it. That same woman checked on us while we were eating even though table service wasn't being provided. I haven't had that kind of service in a long time. We will definitely be going back. The company is all about helping first responders and military as well. The food has a good smoke ring and flavor. The meat is really tender. The ribs fall off the bone.
