Hubby and I were very disappointed with our dining experience at Mission. We do appreciate the tribute to servicemen and women, but nothing about the food would entice us to go back. The meat was way too salty, the slaw was almost tasteless, and we didn't care for any of the sauces (I just ate my few bites of too-salty meat without any). Absolutely amazing, I know missions BBQ is a chain but the Ocala location is a step above. You can tell the employees really care, it shows in their service, and quality of food. Ive been to two locations, South Florida and Ocala and I have to say they are spot on. It's probably one of the better BBQ places in Florida that I have eaten. Without a doubt, Sonny's has some competition here in town. We went here on a Sunday after church with our two year old granddaughter. My husband ordered spare ribs with fries and baked beans. I ordered the baby back ribs with macaroni and cheese, cheese potatoes and a side of their apple caramel cobbler. Each order comes with cornbread. The food was delicious. Texas style bbq brisket, pork ribs, pulled pork, smoked chicken and turkey, salmon and more are available. Sides of cole slaw, fresh cut french fries, baked beans, potato salad, etc. are very good. Servings are plentiful overall. Cost is average and note that a portion of their income is donated to service related charities. Facilities are new, clean and comfortable. You guys!! This was literally the BEST steak I have ever tried. This is literally what I imagine Gordon Ramsay's steaks to taste like. No joke! I'm in awe. The staff was so sweet, the girl at the register was so helpful, funny and made suggestions on what to get. The tall older man with glasses working the grill was such a sweetheart as well, making sure to tell us how the steaks are cooked, how much he loves them, etc. Bathrooms were in great condition, super clean. The baked beans were great, not too sweet and had chunks of brisket too! They honor our military with a sweet treat. I went to the tampa location and was blown away by the flavors and portions. This location was not what I was expecting. After seeing such great reviews I was thinking that maybe they would be on par with the tampa location. I went with my parents parents and I spent $59 for all 3 of us for some small portions of food and overly salty food. My moms salmon was the only redeeming item I got a chance to taste. The ribs were dry and like jerky . The pulled pork sandwich was ok nothing to rave about but the bun was dry and coleslaw had no flavor. I'm a Hispanic person and honestly this was a sad excuse for bbq being that I've been to my friends soul food bbq and events where bbq is outrageously good. I recently went to memphis bbq and was blown away so this is a sad excuse for bbq honestly. I spent so much on food and was upset that it just missed the mark . The cashiers were incredibly rude. My parents haven't been here at all so they were eyeing the menu and we weren't really blocking the area but one of the cashiers said "you ready?" In a condescending tone. I said not quiet just need a minute. A minute passes and another in a rude tone asks if we are ready then when I say not yet she eye rolls at me. My mom has some diet restrictions so we were just trying to brainstorm together what she could eat since my dad and I are the meat eaters she didn't want to deprive us of the experience as she said so I was helping her choose her meal. I wish nicely they could've seen we were discussing and maybe helped us but it's crazy to me how impatient they were and there was no one in line or waiting and also the restaurant was empty , just one table was taken. Planned on some BBQ for lunch today and was disappointed with the brisket. We have been many times and always get the lean beef plate. The meat is normally so tender, juicy and flavorful it cuts with your fork. Well today was an off day, the meat was not very tender at all and had to cut it with your knife and almost seemed like it was overcooked and dry. This was a once off and I hope the next time we visit we have our normal great dining experience. We should have let the manager know but we didn't. I love the people at Mission BBQ! Every time I go there, they are so sweet and talkative and helpful! The food is always delicious, I eat way too much and need a wheelbarrow to get me back out to my car, lol! But their support for law enforcement, first responders, and military members is unmatched by any other restaurant company out there. At noon the whole store stops and stands, all the TVs have the American flag waving, and the National Anthem plays, gets ya right in your feels . So many of the pics up on the walls are of local hero's that have served their community and/or country. I love coming here every time I'm in the area; for the food, the people, the support they show - even all the people that are there to eat are all so nice to each other and exchange quick stories of their time in the service or about the food they ordered that day! It may be a restaurant with great food, but it's honestly what they stand for and support and the people that work there that make this place one of a kind. read more

My dad's 90th birthday Lunch was at his favorite restaurant of Mission BBQ (Ocala) where he and my mom are welcomed with hugs every time they walk in the place, which is at least once a week if not more! True story: My parents enjoyed Mission BBQ for the first time in Oviedo FL years ago. When they were building the one in Ocala, my parents kept a watchful eye on it for the opening. One day they drove by and saw all these cars there and were excited to stop in. Well, it was a soft opening for first responders that they happened upon. My dad, wearing his Korean War hat, was welcomed into the celebration, introduced all around and has been welcomed with open arms there ever since. For his bday they had a birthday cake for him, took care of his and my mom's meals and made an announcement to the whole restaurant about his 90th birthday. Thank you Mission BBQ for taking such good care of my parents, veterans, first responders, and everyone that frequent your establishment. I am from out of town and my boyfriend and I wanted to eat BBQ ribs and brisket. We looked on yelp for a place and found this decided to try it, and it was delicious. We ordered over the phone to pick up the Baby back ribs, brisket, jalapeño sausage and the green beans with bacon and omg they all were so delicious. The workers were very friendly and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. The ribs were falling off the bone and so tender, the jalapeño sausage was delicious as well as everything else. I started with a pick 2 so I got some tasty pulled pork- experimented with a few different sauces all had a unique twist .. I also had the sausage -super tasty!!! For the side I had the cheesy potatoes they had a little onion in there those were truly delicious (finished all of them ) the cornbread was good and I did have some of my husband's fries as usual and those passed inspection .. anyway all in all a good dinner!
