Grabbed half a rack of ribs before a flight. I wish I could give the ribs 5 stars but they were unbelievably salty. So much so that I could not finish them. That said, the staff in the this place were so friendly and constantly cleaning. One woman even came over to my table and cleaned all the bbq sauce bottles on the table....even though they were already clean. In terms of how a store is run, this place is an 11 out of 10. I had made a special request to have an order of ribs and peach cobbler wrapped up and packaged to take on a flight back from Orlando Fl back to Columbus OH. Without hesitation Caleb and Brian told me they can put that together for me, and kept the food in their cooler until later that same day so I could keep it in the hotel fridge for my next day early flight. I have three stars because the food is excellent and the company supports a great cause. But recently, service has fell apart. I don't even know if I want to continue getting my dinner here several times a week. It certainly seems they can't handle phone orders anymore, used to be great, and the current employees get attitudes per body language because you called your order in and now you wait longer than those in line... wth? I have been to Mission several times since it opened on Semoran Blvd., and I can say with confidence that I have had a 5-star experience every time. The staff is so friendly, the restaurant is clean, and the service is quick. My favorite meats are the brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. My favorite sides are the green beans, cheesy potatoes, fries, and mac and cheese. Everything I have tried is very good, but those are my favorites. My all time favorite sauce of any barbecue place I've been to is the Alabama White sauce at Mission. I drench my brisket with that stuff. There's always ample parking and seating at this location, and there is nice shaded patio seating, which I enjoyed during my visit today. Mission is a bit pricey, but for the quality, I don't think it's overpriced. Plan to spend $15-20 for a meal with a side or two and a drink. Overall, I'm a huge Mission fan and prefer it over the other barbecue options near me (4Rivers, Sonny's, etc.). read more

One of the best BBQ I've ever had! I've been all over the US and this place is no joke. FOOD: I had brisket and every side order they offer. Beans were amazing!!! Mac-n-cheese was really good. Potato salad uniquely delicious. Not a fan of collard greens, but Mission put some spices in that made them tasty. SERVICE: Staff was friendly and helpful. The next was the baked beans which were equally amazing. And finally the coleslaw which was fantastic. Overall: First time visit at 11:30 am yesterday and is a new gem in Orlando's BBQ scene and will be back! Food: 4.5 stars- Ordered turkey meal with French fries and cornbread. Turkey was warm, fresh and tasty. Put a recommended white sauce (horseradish mix) on turkey that put it over the top for me (also spread the love to my fries...yes unconventional but that is how good I liked it so move over ketchup). All the sides were good and never got around to tasting other bbq sauces but my colleague seemed to tear into them so that's a good sign. Service: 5 stars- Greeted warmly and genuinely by a young blond female cashier (cant find receipt but wanted to at least recognize her efforts). She was very helpful for my first visit giving me straight personal first hand reviews to help me make my choice. When I went to get my food, the lady with my food behind the counter was very personable and explained the sauces and had a "special" White sauce (mayo, horseradish, etc) that wasn't on table for turkey and anything else I wanted to put it. While eating,personable servers checked on us several times, cleaned tables, and also brought us a full sample of sides to try for future reference. Everyone in this joint was customer focused that brought his experience to the top!!! Environment: 5 stars- Natural light flows into location to brighten seating areas and had both indoor/outdoor seating. Mission BBQ has a lot of good things going for them ~ cool environment, great focus on the armed forces and those who serve us daily and at noon, EVERY DAY, they stop EVERYTHING and the whole place stands up as they play the National Anthem. Very Cool. But, in my humble opinion, while the sandwich was good (brisket) it was a bit fatty (which I know you can get with BBQ, but still...) their buns seemed to be just simple hamburger buns. They made a mistake on the side I ordered and gave me chili. They replaced it and got me the right side and told me to keep the chili (which, btw, I will never understand the places that are so cheap they take away their mistakes. They can't serve it, why not cover for your mistake by letting people keep the mistake...Oh Well). Chili was pretty greasy. I had the Mac and Cheese and that too seemed greasy. All in all...I love their focus on Armed Forces and our Paramedics and Police officers and the food was decent but for $16 and some change for a sandwich, drink and side...seems steep. Again, helping a cause but still a little steep. I am also cheap and watch my pennies and so, yes, for me to spend over $10 for lunch is more than I typically spend. For those local to Central Florida...I would say Mission BBQ is comparable to 4Rivers. Definitely worth a try because it was in no way horrible.... just my 2 cents. Cool experience. I will go back. For sides I ordered the baked cheese potatoes and caramel bread pudding. It came with a drink and a piece of cornbread as well. Everything was heavenly. My favorite meat was the pulled pork. The chopped brisket comes tossed in a thick sauce, which was tasty but the pork definitely beats it. The potatoes remind me of a hash brown casserole flavor, cheesy and oniony deliciousness. A nice lady was handing out sweet potato pie samples. That was very good too. The sauces aren't watery like some fools on here said. They must be used to that thick grocery store KC Masterpiece crap. This place has like 6 sauces, and they're all pretty good. Pick ya favorite. There is a military theme which I think is super cool and unique. *It's become common knowledge that 4 Rivers has gone downhill. Come here instead. It's cheaper and the people are extra nice. Came here for lunch with a coworker. It's new and they did an excellent job with the decor, both inside and outside. Order up front, and sit down until they call your name back to the counter to pick up your order. They sell large plastic cups with proceeds to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation and you get a dollar off your order if you bring it in next time. Lots of bbq sauce choices on the tables, and there's two more options at the condiment counter. One is mixed with ole bay seasoning (my favorite) and one is very spicy. The Brisket was far from it. 5Bone ribs was more like 3 and a half. (2 regular sized bone then the last 3 the size of my thumb) They use low quality meat which is why there is more bone than meat. Both were dry, but, that's why there's 8 different sauces on your table to slather them in. Good ribs don't need sauce, Price range was avg but, will not return. The food was really good, I had high expectations and was still pleasantly surprised. I also loved that you can get ribs by the bone. We had a few of those and pulled pork and the cheddar and jalapeño sausage. Everything was really good, the fries were surprisingly great as well. And while I didn't care for all 9 of the sauces there were a handful I really liked - the Texas twang was the best but it was great to switch between that the Baja blast and the spicy honey and the Smokey sauce. Now 4R has great bbq as well but in my experience not friendly service. They'll get you in and out. If I this was located closer to me I would choose Mission first, absolutely.
