We looked all over for some quick flash type tattoos in the Pacific Beach area and it was pretty difficult. So I'm so happy that we were able to find Mission Beach tattoo. We came in with an open mind as Spokane Washington has a cheaper tattoo minimum than San Diego, California, but we were really looking for people that we were comfortable with. I get all my tattoos from the same person, have developed a relationship and really respect her and wanted the same type of experience even for just a few minutes. The two other spots that we checked out were actually incredibly rude to us and made it feel like our money wasn't good enough Even though their minimums were $150 and honestly we would have been able to make that work for even a 20 minute tattoo. My mother-in-law and my best friend and I were all getting matching wave type tattoos and it wouldn't take too long and it would be three transactions so we felt it would have been necessary to just be nice. We stopped looking on Yelp and just drove around for a while and skrrt skrrt found Mission Beach tattoo. The guy at the counter had an organized list of names of people and phone numbers so that they could call when it was closer to their time and we had to check into our hotel so it worked perfectly. The best part, he was kind, he was excited for us and he put us on the list fairly quickly. We checked into our hotel and went back. I met with James and he gave me the cutest tattoo and then he allowed me to ask him to tattoo my finger randomly and I tipped him and I gave him his money and he was hilarious and it was an incredible experience. I noticed this was a long run-on sentence, but it was also a dope experience. Researching various sites for the perfect Butterfly tattoo. I also love cute owls, and rose with butterflies, and more butterflies. Next I needed to locate a tattoo artist who is knowledgeable, Outstanding, and the experience. The same as selecting a hair dresser, nails, etc etc. Just don't want anyone giving me a tattoo. I triggered something in one of the tattoo artists and I don't know how. I showed Josh a picture of a 3D realistic butterfly and he said he could do it. When I told him that I wasn't sure on the placement due to the pain, he got annoyed. He said it's a tattoo and they all hurt and to make sure I know where I want it cause it's permanent. I told him I'm sure on the design, just not the placement or color. Again, I got a mini lecture on how tattoos are permanent then walked away. When he came back I was looking at pictures of 3D butterflies and he told me that whatever pictures I was looking at on the internet were photoshopped and showed me a drawing of cartoony flat winged butterfly with shading in the back (kind of like the dead butterflies on display in museums). When I told him I wanted what was in the picture and that I wanted the wing in a way where it looked like it was going to fly up, that's when it was over. He said, "I've been doing this a long time and I can already tell...I'm going to pass you to Jadd.......I've shown him everything he knows and I've been doing this a long time........I don't mean to be rude or anything but for the amount of work and for that amount of money. I'm going to send you to Jadd, you're in good hands." I said, "I'm just looking for something more realistic". He told me there are no realistic tattoos and he does more artistic. Then he just kept repeating that he's been doing this for a long time and taught Jadd everything he knows. I felt very uncomfortable and didn't even want to be in the same room with this dude so we left and I got an awesome realistic tattoo for cheaper with Ed at SD tattoo. Also, my friend that went with me had gotten a tattoo from Jadd the day before and she said he's awesome and nice. Her tattoo looks great! I just couldn't be in there with Josh repeating himself and giving me the side eye for being sure on what I wanted when he's the one that gave me the "TATTOOS ARE PERMANENT!!" lecture in the first place. Also, the care instructions were different at SD tattoo where they suggest putting on saniderm bandages for 3-5 days and MB tattoo had my friend keep it on for two hours. I got a conch piercing with Mikah. when we got to his station, all of the sterilized equipment was laid out in their packages. I require titanium jewelry since I am allergic to nickel.
