    Bianca Square

Mission Pizza is now doing squares! This is a takeaway window at Terranova Brewing. I had the Bianca which had ricotta cream, lots of red onions, & a pesto. It was delicious on a pillowy focaccia type crust and was a hearty size. My husband had the Patate which had yummy chunks of smoked provolone with the thinly sliced potato. You just order the squares at the bar with your beer, and they text you when it is ready for pickup at the window. Terranova has a ton of outdoor and indoor seating with a nice ambiance for enjoy a beer and slice!

mission pizza, the asheville outpost of peyton smith's mission pizza napoletana in winston-salem, is tucked within terra nova beer company, located at the former site of the beloved bhramari brewing company. our smokeshow pie featured quality toppings and fantastic flavors. the crust? ridiculous. the pizzaiolo's choice - you can specify dietary restrictions but otherwise just zip it and trust - was a revelation. their concept, from the original shop, goes like this: "mission pizza napoletana exists not to mimic your preferred pizza from elsewhere, nor to anticipate the innumerable whims of consumers. we exist to do our thing our way, with care and intent and integrity, and cultivate a community of guests and advocates with similar values. if you are here for the first time, you've likely read about us or heard about us. which means that you are here precisely because we are different. so don't then roll up and ask us to be like some other place. thanks in advance. i, for one, am ok with that.

Sausage & Giardiniera (bottom), Pizzaiolo's Choice (top)

We stopped by Mission Pizza while we were in the area--it was good, but not a must-do. The line was short and moved quickly, which was nice. We tried the sausage & giardiniera slice and the pizzaiolo's choice. The sausage one was so delicious--definitely our favorite. The pizzaiolo's choice had good flavor but was too spicy for us. There's limited indoor seating but they do have an outdoor area with shaded tables which is where we enjoyed our food. It was a bit pricey for just two slices, but everything was tasty overall. Worth checking out if you're nearby and craving pizza.

sfincione, calabrian, pizza makers choice, the special!

this pizza place was such a fun little experience. we wanted to grab a quick dinner and i came across mission pizza. we did the order for pickup option so i can't speak on their dine in environment but i know it is inside a brewery! when ordering on the website, it is a bit confusing at first bc the pizza combinations are super unique and definitely have italian named. however, once i matched up what the pizza looked like to the description i was super excited. they offer some fun normal flavors, a special of the day and a pizzaiolo's choice! (pizza makers choice) this is super fun for me bc it's like a surprise! they are not slices, but roman squares! we ended up ordering the sfincione, calabrian, their special (it's getting hot in herre) and a pizza makers choice! my favorite was honestly the pizza makers choice. it was a white based pizza with arugula, i think a balsamic glaze, whipped ricotta and i think it was guanciale on top. SO good. the sfincione was a more typical tomato based pizza was parmesan and breadcrumbs (great for kids), calabrian was like a meaty, tomato, little bit spicy. and the special was PRETTY spicy but also really good.! my husband picked up the food and he was in and out really quickly on a friday evening. so while i can't speak on the service, it seemed pretty quick and easy!

    Delicious pizza with perfect crust

I am often on the road between Raleigh and Asheville. I always look forward to stopping at Mission Pizza in Winston-Salem as my halfway point. I will continue to! Now there is a Mission Pizza in downtown Asheville as well, inside of the Terra Nova brewery. This place has really stepped up the Neopolitan style pizza game here in Asheville, it's the best in my opinion. The scenery is very comfortable with open roll up windows to let the mountain air breeze through while you dine and drink. Ordering process and food running process is seamless so there is nothing fussy about that part of it. Great for a date night, family outing, or just a solo visit. Highly recommend stopping in to get some of their delicious pizza and other menu items!! Excellent!! So glad they are here!! Plenty of dedicated parking as well!

The perfect meal with a view of the hussle and bussle of downtown Asheville.

I was satisfied with the pizza but it wasn't anything to really rave over. The salad was big - mostly chopped lettuce (love that it was chopped already) topped with some cheese, olives, green peppers and tomato slices. I don't eat my salads soaked in dressing so there was enough dressing for me but it felt like the dressing cup wasn't very full if you do like a wet salad. Breadsticks were good and airy. Lots of cheese on top. I preferred the pizza over the breadsticks over the 2 visits I had 3 types of slices. For speciality slices they top a slice of cheese with the toppings then bake it so the toppings aren't baked down into the cheese. Still good. When I lived here years ago, we used this spot as a quick bite when we were out brewery hopping or pre gaming for a show. Huge inside with plenty of seating and some games. Staff is friendly and service is quick!

The salad was a nice sized and covered in mozzarella cheese, honestly it could have had a little less cheese on it but each their own. The breadsticks, i thought were garli but its juat dough served with marinara sauce. The slice lacked flavor al together. Service, i waited at the counter for about 5 minutes before someone was off the phone and took my order. Food came pretty quickly, the guy behind the counter one of the guys was wearing a tank top, honestly that should not be allowed for health reasons. Maybe after a few beers things would taste different but like i said before each their own.

Almost every beer on the menu is a split batch fermented with two different yeast strains to showcase the resulting differences. It's a great concept, even if you're not into brewing. In terms of the food, it seems like the really leaned into providing something good, well-balanced, and sometimes takes advantage of the yeast and beer being cultivated on site. I had a house salad and some dilly beans for lunch. The house salad was fresh and extremely well balanced. I'm glad they had something vegetable centric available. The dilly beans were good, but quite a bit for a single human. They're probably the type of thing you would want to split among friends. I actually showed up for an event in the evening where they served pizza using dough fermented with one of their yeast strains. That was truly excellent. Nicely balanced, not over the top, with a deeply flavorful crust. If you're in Asheville, I would consider this a must visit destination.

Mrs. K. and I took the two seats at the end and I walked up to the bar to order drinks and dinner. A pint of the "American Style Lager" for me and their "Spicy!" ginger beer that Mrs. K. said was good but not all that spicy. Less than ten minutes later, my chicken wings arrived. They sell them as "a pound" which was good because these were very small wings. Small, but tasty in a sweet/spicy sauce and I ate nearly all of them while slowly sipping that very crushable beer. When it was done, back into the Sprinter van and off to figure out where we're parking for the night. I had tried to make a reservation on their RV parking app but they're booked two or three weeks out! Note: The restrooms are upstairs and they have an elevator. So we walked into Luminosa underdressed, absolutely soaking wet, and looking like we had just been rescued from a shipwreck. This is a really nice restaurant, so at this point I was pretty convinced either we weren't getting seated or my friends were going to spend the rest of their marriage talking about the dinner I ruined. I explained the situation to the staff and they could not have handled it better. No judgment, no making us feel out of place, nothing but an insane level of hospitality from the second we walked in. They even sent out a few dishes on the house. Our server Riley was phenomenal. Riley knew the menu inside and out, gave us all the information we needed without overexplaining everything, and never steered us wrong once. We basically put our dinner in Riley's hands, and that was probably the biggest reason the meal turned out as well as it did. And the food was fucking incredible. Not "we're drunk on a wedding weekend and everything tastes good" incredible. Every single one of us said it was one of the best meals we've ever had. And I don't say that because my culinary experience is limited to Applebee's and the Cheesecake Factory. I went to probably half the restaurants on the Michelin Guide while I was in Asheville, live in Atlanta where I've eaten at plenty of Michelin-recognized restaurants, and have been fortunate enough to eat at Michelin restaurants outside the US. Luminosa was still one of the best meals I've had anywhere. I walked in thinking I had completely screwed up dinner and walked out looking like a genius for picking the restaurant. I will be taking full credit for that and giving none to the tornado or Riley.

I can't remember what type of pasta it was but I really enjoyed the flavors, however that and the steak came out cold. The cabbage was absolutely the highlight. I still dream of this dish - I can't believe how delicious it was! For dessert we had the panna cotta and pistachio gelato. The panna cotta was FANTASTIC, I could eat 2 by myself. The pistachio gelato was interesting... the texture was great but it was incredibly savory which I wasn't expecting. The service was phenomenal. I do think that instead of bringing everything out at once, the dishes should come out when they're done so that the temperature doesn't change as it's waiting for other dishes. Would come back!
