My steak sandwich was massive, I ended up not even able to finish a half of it, so it was more than 3 meals for me which makes the value pretty great. I should say that were kind of stumbled into this place after a rude experience at another place across the street. Black Mountain is a very nice little, walkable town where we were staying in a hotel while visiting Asheville. My Father's Pizza is a very nice place with an upstairs bar and both an inside and outside eating area. Our watress, Lettie, was very nice and treated us like family and when she figured out we would be intown a few days she made suggestions on other places to eat- More on that later. Bruschetta was what we picked for an appetiser and it arrived fast and was very good and enough that we took some of it back to the hotel for later. We followed that up with a My Father's Supreme Pizza which was was terrific. All this time the waitress mad sure everything was fine and mentioned some places we might like to visit while in the area. He left full and happy. The next night we looked around for another place to eat in town and we mutually decided that we would just go back to where we new was perfect. Out waitress, Lettie saw us come in and got the hostess to usher here to her table so she could find out how our day went, We ordered the whipped Ricotta dip which came out quickly and we followed that up with a steak sub and lasagna. My father's pizza never fails to deliver a delicious pizza. They even have gluten and dairy free options, which does not hinder the taste or quality at all. Definitely recommend if your in the mood for Italian food. The place is pretty big inside, when you walk in it's initially just a bar area. Pizza was really good!! We ordered a large Greek salad and a medium Skinny Pig pie, which we really enjoyed. We'll probably go back later this week to try another specialty pie. Only small issue was that we felt like we were being rushed a bit - evidently we got there just before everyone else decided it was pizza time, because the restaurant filled up pretty quickly after we sat down. I visited here once ~25 years ago and kept trying to come back, but the parking situation around downtown Black Mountain is intense. Today, I drove around for 15 minutes before finally spotting someone backing out of a spot within walking distance of My Father's Pizza. With that being said, this is a gem of a restaurant. The food was exactly what we needed-- fast, creative, fresh, and flavorful. The prices were totally reasonable as well. The indoors has almost a dive bar type feel, so don't worry about dressing up to visit. Our server was very friendly and got everything to us as it was ready. My family and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away. It was very loud inside the restaurant. The waitress was friendly, however the food took a while to come out. I ordered a sub without cheese and onions and it was really good. It tasted fresh and the bread was soft. My family tried the margarita pizza and two salads which they also enjoyed. Overall I'd say that is a nice spot for pizza, just be aware that it can be pretty loud and the food might take a while to come out. read more

Worst lasagna I have ever had. So greasy and disgusting. I only ate a few bites but I had heartburn for 2 days.

I used to give my father's a lot of business. I ordered 7 orders of garlic bread to go, which I had done many many times, and when I got home they messed up the order and sent me with bread sticks. I left a handsome tip for takeout and when I called to get it corrected, they refused to make it right. It blew me away as I had spent thousands over the years. They have gone way downhill. Was in the area for a ladies retreat and our group decided to kick off the weekend with lunch at My Father's Pizza. Based on other Yelpers' recommendations, our table chose to share a large Skinny Pig pizza and an antipasto salad. Everything was fresh tasting and delicious! Whenever I find myself in the Black Mountain area, this is a definitely go back. Hairy Food! Well... it hurts me to have to leave this review. March 7th of 2025, my wife, brother in law, and his wife went out for our birthday celebration. I have visited My Father's regularly over the years. We grew up in the valley and live close by now. My pizza was good but had a hair in my first piece. I politely asked my waitress for another plate. I didn't make a big deal of it, thinking , ok, she'll make it right with me. Nope, she didn't even offer. Is hair in your pizza just acceptable now? We had gotten the Manzo, the steak was beautifully cooked and juicy, onions were caramelized to perfection, and overall was good. The crust was crispy and a good thickness to support the toppings, but not too thin where the pizza would collapse from the weight of the steak. The lasagna was a hearty portion and delicious. The eggplant Parm was seasoned well too. Our waitress and staff were accommodating since we brought our dogs and said we could sit out on the patio and gave us amazing service.
