    Steak sub
    Michael A.

This place has been raved about by folks that I know, and with good reason. This time I got the steak sub....it deserves its reputation. The onions and peppers and mushrooms were all perfectly caramelized and paired so well with the thinly sliced steak. All this piled on crusty fluffy bread....mmm mmm mmm Great place to stop after a hike to re fuel and warm up.

The best meal we had on our trip!!! Please make it a point to eat here. It was recommended to me by a gentleman I was passing in a parking lot to a neighboring establishment. He spoke of the best whipped ricotta dip and great pizza. So we drive back from Asheville for dinner. The ricotta lived up to his review plus some! Split a Hawaiian pizza which was excellent. Had we found this earlier in our trip, it would have been a regular experience. Madison was the perfect waitress informative, engaging and appropriately attentive when a Friday night rush could have distracted her to the basic service. The ambiance is family comfortable with a mountain chill.

Very tasty and fresh tasting pizza. We had friendly staff taking our orders. Very cute spot to grab pizza at.

    Monza (GF crust, vegan cheese)
    Luca D.

Service and ambiance lasted about 20 minutes, but was worth the wait. I got a Monza on a GF crust and with vegan cheese, which is basically a Philly cheesesteak pizza with onions and mushrooms. The crust had a good crunch to it, and the whole thing tasted like a Philly cheesesteak with tomatoes due to the sauce. Overall, this was twice as good as I expected.

    Chicken parm sub

The atmosphere is very comfortable (like an old-school pizza parlor), our server was friendly, and we enjoyed everything we ordered. OUR ORDER - cheese pizza. Good crisp crust and nicely seasoned sauce. 4/5 - Cheesy breadsticks. We would probably not order them with cheese again -- the breadsticks were delicious but the cheese overwhelmed them a bit. 3.5/5 - Meatballs - nicely seasoned and abundant. 4/5 - Chicken Parmesan sub - good crunch to outside of the bread. It was good, but I was surprised that it was grilled chicken rather than fried and there was less cheese than expected. The pickle was excellent. 4/5

I visited here once ~25 years ago and kept trying to come back, but the parking situation around downtown Black Mountain is intense. Today, I drove around for 15 minutes before finally spotting someone backing out of a spot within walking distance of My Father's Pizza. With that being said, this is a gem of a restaurant. The food was exactly what we needed-- fast, creative, fresh, and flavorful. The prices were totally reasonable as well. The indoors has almost a dive bar type feel, so don't worry about dressing up to visit. Our server was very friendly and got everything to us as it was ready. All in all, My Father's Pizza is as good as it was 25 years ago, so they must be doing something right!

Roasted chicken sub - no cheese no onions

My family and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night. It was pretty busy but we were seated right away. It was very loud inside the restaurant. The waitress was friendly, however the food took a while to come out. I ordered a sub without cheese and onions and it was really good. It tasted fresh and the bread was soft. My family tried the margarita pizza and two salads which they also enjoyed. Overall I'd say that is a nice spot for pizza, just be aware that it can be pretty loud and the food might take a while to come out.

    Bruschetta

I have been visiting My Father's Pizza for years and always try to eat here when in the area. The food is always fresh and yummy! The steak and cheese sandwich, salads and of course pizza are favorites! I want to try the chicken salad bites next time! The bruschetta was delicious! Service is usually fast and friendly. You can sit inside or out depending on the weather. We always prefer the patio if the weather is nice!

Amazing steak sandwich! I honestly enjoyed this and had a great time eating it. It was satisfying to eat because it was easy to eat

Worst lasagna I have ever had. So greasy and disgusting. I only ate a few bites but I had heartburn for 2 days.

Not great. Nice servers but the crust is yeastless and ver hard and tasteless. Its very dense and dry, minimal sauce as well.

It boasts the second highest average ratings of all the restaurants with more than 100 reviews on the entire highway. So the public holds this pizza joint in high esteem. Does it measure up? Well ... The building is a sprawling complex, a hip and quirky place with the pizzeria in the middle, dine-in tables in the room to the right, and an arcade and ice cream parlor in the room to the left. I love the atmosphere, the multiple rooms decorated by posters and pictures from the '80s and action figures and collectibles up high. Now, the garlic knots here are pretty good! They're not the best I've ever had, but very much worth ordering. But the Spinach Artichoke Cheesebread is just odd. I love spinach artichoke dip and that's exactly the flavor you get. But it came out room temperature covered with melted cheese, tasting like something that sat around on the counter for hours. The temperature kind of ruined it, cold spinach dip on mediocre bread with melted cheese that had cooled long ago. And the cheese pizza was okay, but it wasn't memorable by any means. It was just ordinary but not extraordinary. I don't fully get the stellar ratings here. But I do think it's a cool road trip stop.

Not like the typical artificial banana flavoring you'd find in a candy. It was sweetened just enough and topped with little vanilla wafer pieces. We were only inside for a short period of time, but this was a really cute place with comfy seating and a calm, quiet vibe. Staff were friendly and efficient. The only thing that could have made my drink better would have been more ice, but then I would have less of my delicious beverage, so I can't really complain.

We arrived at around 7:15 am and were greeted by two regulars hanging out front with their dogs, which meant that Mrs. K. got her morning dog fix before we even made it inside. That set a great tone for a good day. The welcome inside was warm in the small town way that feels genuine instead of forced, just easy smiles and a quick hello as I ordered. It was rather quiet when we arrived but the folks seemed to start pouring in as we sipped our coffees. My cortado was excellent even if it was in a paper cup. Mrs. K. was happy with her latte which is the proper test. We lingered a bit, enjoying the quiet and watching Black Mountain wake up around us before getting back on the road. A great little stop just off I-40 and a perfect start for the day. Five stars! [Review 540 of 2026 - 4635 in North Carolina - 25722 overall]

Within that context, however, the staff distinguished themselves as welcoming and efficient, processing orders promptly and with a friendliness that set a positive tone for the experience. Ambiance: Abbiocco is located adjacent to the Peri Social House in Black Mountain, North Carolina, an arrangement that proves to be a genuine asset. Guests may order beverages from the social house and enjoy their meal in a pleasantly secluded outdoor patio area -- an intimate and well-conceived setting that enhances the overall dining experience considerably. Food: The standout of the visit was undoubtedly the pizza, which represents some of the most authentic Neapolitan-style preparation to be found in Western North Carolina. The kitchen demonstrates a clear command of the fundamentals: quality ingredients, a well-developed crust, and the disciplined use of a wood-fired oven operating at the temperatures necessary to achieve a proper Neapolitan result. Each of these elements contributes meaningfully to a final product that is difficult to fault. Overall: Pizza preference is, of course, a matter of personal taste -- but for those who favor the Neapolitan tradition, Abbiocco is likely to impress. It is a worthy destination for anyone in the region seeking a pizza experience grounded in quality ingredients and genuine technique.
