We had a room close by so walked here a couple of times for a quick dinner. It was easy and convenient to our room. I was satisfied with the pizza but it wasn't anything to really rave over. The salad was big - mostly chopped lettuce (love that it was chopped already) topped with some cheese, olives, green peppers and tomato slices. I don't eat my salads soaked in dressing so there was enough dressing for me but it felt like the dressing cup wasn't very full if you do like a wet salad. Breadsticks were good and airy. Lots of cheese on top. I preferred the pizza over the breadsticks over the 2 visits I had 3 types of slices. For speciality slices they top a slice of cheese with the toppings then bake it so the toppings aren't baked down into the cheese. Still good. When I lived here years ago, we used this spot as a quick bite when we were out brewery hopping or pre gaming for a show. Huge inside with plenty of seating and some games. Ambiance is prety cool, i could see the place busy ln a friday and saturday night. Food wise i got a salad, breadsticks and a slice. The salad was a nice sized and covered in mozzarella cheese, honestly it could have had a little less cheese on it but each their own. The breadsticks, i thought were garli but its juat dough served with marinara sauce. The slice lacked flavor al together. Service, i waited at the counter for about 5 minutes before someone was off the phone and took my order. Food came pretty quickly, the guy behind the counter one of the guys was wearing a tank top, honestly that should not be allowed for health reasons. We flew in from Baltimore and had a long walk to rental car area due to airport construction. Then to discover our booking agent booked rental car downtown, not at the airport. So had to shuttle to parking area then a 45 min wait in the hot sun for an Uber or a Lyft, finally a cab came by and we grabbed it. Of course now in the middle of rush hour traffic. So we got checked into hotel and were just too tired to go back out. So we checked out pizza delivery and Standard Pizza was close. So I ordered a pizza and a salad for my wife and I to share. I included special instructions to include utensils, both for salad and pizza, also salt and pepper. 30-45 minute wait, not bad. I enabled push notifications so we would know when it arrived. We waited. Every 10 minutes or so I checked for updates but nothing. I expected a little driver rolling along the map they provided. Finally after around 30 minutes I checked status at 8:30. The update stated "Delivered 8:20 PM." I opened the door and our salad and pizza were setting outside room door, cold now. There were NO utensils, NO napkins, NO salt and pepper. Apparently they do not read instructions. Pizza was cold, crust tough & chewy. The "Greek" salad was only spinach, olives, feta and artichoke(?) not like any Greek salad I've had - no tomatoes or cucumbers, no lettuce?? I went to lobby to see if I could grab a couple forks from breakfast buffet area, but the area was locked up. We tried eating salad with our fingers but just too messy, so tossed it. There is no way I can recommend this place. Just too many issues plus about $11 in delivery charge, imposed 15% tip and $4.15 service charge! Now this is not the worst pizza I've ever had, but definitely the worst pizza experience. read more

Despite the place being kind of empty, service and ambiance was appreciated. I got a GF supreme without meatballs and with feta instead of regular cheese. I'm pretty glad I showed up with a seriously empty stomach because GF pizzas are 14", so this was seriously filling. When we saw Cuban Pizza we knew we had to visit Standard Pizza. It was just a short walk from the Marriott Courtyard where we were staying. The interior of the restaurant is quite large and while we were there there were only a few parties dining in but it appeared they do a lot of take-out orders. There is also an outside seating area. The biggest plus at Standard Pizza is that you can get any variety of pizza as a slice. We had a slice of the white , Cuban and Margherita pizzas. The most unique was the Cuban with bananas, which added a bit of sweetness along with saltiness of the ham. Prices are reasonable, 3 slices, tax & tip came to $17. Staff was friendly and efficient. They also cut our slices in half as we were sharing. I recommend a visit to Standard Pizza if you are in the area. read more

Standard Pizza has both indoor and outdoor seating. Masks are currently required inside while not eating or drinking. This wasn't enforced though so not sure why the policy. Ordering is done at the counter and your order is brought to your table. I ordered a garden salad; bread sticks and a white pizza. Next time, I'd just go with the pizza. Standardly delicious. Solid choice for a slice. Love the simplicity and staff. Went here for take away last night post event at HiWire. They are walking distance which is great. Had never been to this location before and it's delightful. Spacious and clean. The staff were super kind and attentive. The slice prices were super fair- starting at $2.75. I got a white slice at $3.75 ($5 with tip). They have a lot of veggie options as well as some meat ones. Would be interested in trying a salad too. As I was waiting, saw some calzones and cheese bread go by and was jealous. Looked spectacular. The slice took a long time. To be fair we were asked names and given updates. The slice had a lot of good flavor and cheese but seemed a little too thin and crunchy. Still a solid late night snack but maybe would try something different next time. read more

We got our to-go pizza in 45 minutes after sitting in the restaurant. The cook says he called our name out when the pizza was done after 20 minutes, i doubt it, we were there the whole time hungry and ready to hear it and the restaurant was not loud, we were the only people in there. He then took a smoke break after the pizza was done, it sat for 25 minutes while the person who rang us up and another worker hung out in the kitchen where we were within view instead of checking if the singular pizza they made the entire time we were there was for us. It was a cheese pizza. They definitely could tell we were waiting, made eye contact multiple times. We then watched the guy in the back hit his vape in the kitchen which i'm sure isn't up to health code. You may want to tell your workers to focus more on the customers in the restaurant than their nicotine consumption (on the clock, in the kitchen). I have to say that I agree with prior yelp reviews of the cheesy bread sticks - they are to die for, excellent buttery and just crispy enough with a soft inside. Yum! Also ordered a pep slice and a supreme slice, NY style - decent pizza. I ordered the cheese calzone, which came about 15 minutes after the above (I was told it takes that)..... It was a decent calzone, I was actually to full to eat it and saved half for a midnight snack. My only complaint was that the Jalapenos were not fresh imho, seemed to be from a jar..... I am feeling so thankful for wonderful restaurants with incredible staff, like standard pizza, today. I visited standard to grab a late lunch with a friend who I care for that has severe autism. We sat in and ate some pizza & bread sticks, and I went back up to order an additional two slices- with the request that they slice the cheese piece into small squares to make it more sensory friendly and easier to eat. This may seem like a simple request to some, but I have been to multiple establishments that told me that "they can't" cut the food for me in the kitchen, so I was over the moon to see that not only had they done it happily, but went above and beyond to make the squares the perfect bite-size. I'll admit that for years, I just didn't get Standard. Like why do they put toppings on top of the pizza and don't melt cheese on top? I still don't quite understand but in the past few years I've started to truly love Standard. If I am craving a slice, this is my go-to spot in Asheville. I prefer the Biltmore Village location as it is huge and spacious and had retro decor. And ping pong, and a nice outdoor courtyard. The pizza slices are gigantic! Last time I ate here, I ordered two slices and could only eat one and a few bites of the other. If you order toppings, it is piled high with the goodness. My personal favorite is their Margherita pizza as it is super fresh tasting and just really hits the spot. My husband loves the Cuban which is a crazy flavor combination that is unique and surprisingly delicious. The Cuban has bananas (yes!), ricotta, jalapeño and bacon. Crazy, right? Standard also has local beers on draft (Where in Asheville doesn't?), sodas and you can get your meal started with salad or breadsticks and they also make Calzones. Anytime I go here and am trying to be healthy, I order the Spinach salad and am always pleasantly surprised at how delicious it really is and how filling it is. I feel like whenever I make Spinach salads at home, they're gross but whenever I eat them here, they rock my world. I really like the staff at the Biltmore location too, they are always friendly and quick. There's a great family-friendly vibe here but is not overcrowded with kids. Love this spot! read more
