A local family-owned spot serving fresh, well-seasoned seafood. Mississippi Catfish in El Sobrante has been around for years and was previously located in Richmond. It's always nice to support a family-owned business that has built a strong local following. I ordered the D & D plate which comes with prawns, hush puppies, and 2 sides- I ordered fries. Everything came out fresh, hot, and well seasoned. The red snapper was cooked perfectly crispy on the outside while still tender inside, and the seasoning was just right. The hush puppies and fries were a great addition to the plate and paired well with the fish. Simple, flavorful food done right. Service is excellent. Located inside 7 Peaks Restaurant & Bar, this place is an absolute gem. From the very first visit, we were hooked--and now we make it a point to eat here at least once every time we're in town (and we live in Vegas!). We've tried the fried catfish, snapper, prawns, and chicken, and everything has been fried and seasoned to perfection--crispy on the outside, flavorful and tender on the inside. Finally went for the 1st time and wasn't disappointed. The gentleman who takes the order is very nice. Had fried chicken which was was seasoned and fried to perfection as well snapper which was seasoned well but could have been fried a bit harder for my taste. Both were with a side of fries that were perfect and their Cajun potato salad, which after some hesitation and a sample I decided to get. I will definitely be back!! read more

We've eaten here twice and both times the fish was fried perfectly. Nice and tender with a light crust. Very flavorful and not greasy. The chicken wings were fried a little harder than I like, but they were still tasty. You can't eat everyone's potato salad but again, it was good and so was the coleslaw! Great soul food! Highly recommend their fish and prawns combo. They even give you a few complementary hush puppies with each order. My partner and I visited this location hoping to enjoy some Indian food, as we had previously dined at the Copper Mug. Unbeknownst to us, the Copper Mug is closed on Wednesdays, although food is still served by another business at the same location--Mississippi Catfish. When we arrived, no one greeted us, so I approached the window to ask a question. The man working--who was on the phone the entire time--was extremely rude and dismissive. I politely inquired about the Copper Mug's hours, and instead of offering a simple explanation, he responded sarcastically and told me to "read his lips," as if I were being difficult or unintelligent. His tone was condescending and disrespectful, and I was genuinely shocked by the lack of basic customer service. The experience felt not only unprofessional but borderline discriminatory. I do not recommend visiting this place. Poor service and a complete lack of courtesy--definitely a place to avoid. read more

I'm going back! Shrimp poboy: Best shrimp sandwich I've ever had. I'm going back to get another one. But I don't consider it a poboy because it doesn't come on French bread, and it doesn't come dressed. Fully dressed = tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, and hot sauce. I ordered it "fully dressed", and they asked if I wanted potato salad and coleslaw on it. I said no, so it was just the bread, shrimp, and I think it was tartar sauce. I was so mad when I opened it, and then I tasted it... I was so happy. I didn't get the catfish, but the shrimp was perfectly seasoned & fried, so I already know that catfish will be good. I'm going back to get some of that too. Sides: They seasoned the fries too. Perfection. The hushpuppies were good. Out here, they make hushpuppies too dry or too soggy; they usually have no taste. These were the perfect texture and taste. The potato salad is good. The Cole slaw is good. It was just all good! And I think it's run by a family, which I love to support. They were so friendly, polite, helpful, etc. They bout to be sick of me. I'm going back for EVERYTHING. read more

You have got to go here. Best food we've had in a long time, and the service was top-notch. A++ all around. Fried catfish, fried prawns, fried chicken, hush puppies, black-eyed peas, coleslaw, and potato salad! The is the same place that was formally in Richmond. The building they were in was sold so now they are at this bar. The food is just as good, crispy fried with perfect seasoning. The bar is clean with lots of seating. The staff are nice and checked in on us multiple times. Please go support the small local business that has been around more than 20 years! Forgot to mention, desserts peach cobbler and cake are back! I am not sure the hours. The Saturday I went to was 12pm to 8pm. read more

Food was delish and bountiful. I think they gave us a few extra pieces. Don't let the fact that it's in a bar, fool you. The food was fresh, no old oil taste. We got a snapper and shrimp combo. The batter is flavorful. We ordered take out but it's probably crispier if you eat it right away. Hush puppies were good. We got double fries but had known they had black eyed Susans, we would have gotten those as well. It's $3 a piece for a la carte. Oh, and my favorite part.....IT'S BLACK OWNED! The bark looks like a nice neighborhood spot and since we don't live far, we will be having fish Fridays after work! There's a pool table as well. Love love love! The black eyed peas are sweet! Omg. Yuck. I came here before and the black eyed peas were soooooo bomb! They were creamy and savory and homemade tasting. So good. Came back with my fam about 6 months later and either they accidentally put sugar when it called for salt or they changed the recipe. Either way disgusting. And I'm so disappointed. The fish was okay but so small of pieces. The fries were good. Coleslaw is ok. But I don't think we will be back. read more

Its a casual, Korean cafe located in a small strip mall and adjacent to Hernandez Park. The name is a bit of a misnomer. Yes they specialize in a variety of bone-in, Korean Fried Chicken with multiple flavor options. But turn the menu over and you'll see even more options for bento boxes, tofu soup, hot stone rice dishes (dolsot) and more. Service was fast and friendly, but don't overstay your welcome since the restaurant is small and very popular. Bulgolgi bento was awesome - it comes with ita own banchan, japchae, fried gyoza, and a food portion of beef that our 6yo som devoured by himself. Chicken Dolsot was also a solid dish - I like having veggies, carbs, and proteins all in one on a sizzling bowl with a fried egg. Wife and her bestie shared a half order of soy garlic KFC, which were large, crispy, and sticky. Its my favorite KFC flavor and wished we got a full order so I can have some more, LOL. Definitely keeping this place in mind for future visits. A good dinner takeout place if I ever need to work late from Richmond during evening commute.

I did wish the sizes were bigger, they were in big "condiment" containers and even smaller than Popeyes' regular sides. I did really liked the flavor in both sides. The beans and rice was more dry like Popeyes instead of being super watery at a lot of Southern places. The coleslaw had a few raisins in it and I actually thought it added a nice sweetness to the coleslaw.

One thing I've always loved about this place is that it feels less like a restaurant and more like you're walking into your uncle's or grandparents' house and they just happened to have some incredible fried fish waiting for you.
