I've been here 3 times so far after visiting 2 other places in PDX. During my first visit, Dr Clark recommended that we do some X-rays after talking to me for some time about my back and neck pain. He is a good listener and adjusted my back as I requested (he uses a variety of methods, from traditional adjustments, to the little tapping gun thingy, to traction tables). I love this place! Everyone is really friendly and helpful. I've been a patient off-and-on for approx 5 yrs and I've had 100% positive experiences. Dr. Clark is always on-schedule which is rare for a doctor. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes. The lobby has 2 deluxe massaging recliner chairs in the lobby, so sometimes I show up early for my appointments just to enjoy the chairs :) There are several massage therapists to choose from. I've had massages from Kim and Catherine and both were AWESOME!!! They each have totally different methods and styles of massages, but that was okay because each time I had relief from my chronic back pain for 2-3 days after the massages. Nothing else has given me relief from my back pain, so these ladies get rave reviews from me. Walking distance from my apartment on Mississippi, convenience definitely plays a factor in my review, but the overall honesty and service from the team was pleasant. I can be a skeptic when it comes to trusting doctors/chiros/PTs but Dr. Clark has totally earned my trust to help me with my fragile back. I've been to lots of chiropractors who do a "one size fits all" adjustment and send me out the door. Dr. Clark is strategic, thorough, and gentle. If I ever have any concerns he happily listens and modifies his adjustments accordingly. But the BEST part about this place is that you can schedule a massage (like a legit I think hour long REAL massage) along with your chiro to further your treatment. It works beautifully with my insurance that I only have to pay my normal copay and for my appointments that include both the massage AND adjustment. Ask for Lena for your massage. I was fortunate enough to discover MS Chiro and Dr. Clark Pitcairn thanks to a Groupon I had purchased for adjustment, x-ray, and water table massage. Sounds like I wasn't the only one! I had seen previous chiropractors, but primarily as a means of alleviating pain once it got too unbearable. The same goes for seeing massage therapists. Dr. Clark was the first one to diagnose my spinal degeneration, and develop two treatment plans for me to choose from: either a 24- or 36-visit course of treatment. The shorter course would be primarily for fending off painful symptoms, whereas the longer program was designed to get my spine back in alignment and alleviate muscular fatigue from having to compensate for the misalignment. In addition to the chiropractic adjustments that I had had before, there were some different techniques I wasn't familiar with, such as head weighting, neck traction, and the vibration table. Dr. Clark was patient and kind enough to explain exactly the purpose behind each of these. As of today's "graduation" from the program, I can now say (thanks to before and after x-rays, and the marked improvement in my frequency/level of low back pain) that the treatment Dr. Clark prescribed works. There was significant home care and exercise involved, and I was in the office 3x/week for the first month, but I feel so much better now. I am so glad I did myself the favor of coming here. A lifetime of bad posture and sports injuries had left me in a sad state. So much pain! I felt my life reduced but I had faith. Faith that with professional training and some homework, I could regain some mobility and well, feel better about myself. After an initial diagnosis and a great question/answer, I was confident in my treatment and can honestly say that though I am aware of my limitations, Dr. Clark and his wonderful staff have, in a sense, given me my life back. No longer am I limited to laying on the floor, continuously stretching and hobbling in and out of chairs. No longer am I constantly complaining about my back and its pain. I was able to get in on a Saturday last minute. I have been having some intense neck stiffness and overall back pain. Just with one adjustment I've noticed great improvement in my range of motion. Dr. Clark was very thorough, told me what I should expect, and walked me through the treatment process. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I don't normally write reviews but my experience at Mississippi Chiropractic changed my perspective on massage therapy and chiropractic treatment. I had never had chiro or massage therapy treatment before. I thought it was a classier version of spa massages, boy was I wrong. I had a car wreck 7/5 and started my sessions 2-3 weeks after as my back and foot weren't healing up as quickly as what was typical for my body. I went in for my first visit and was greeted by Shiv, the front desk worker, very welcoming and clean setup during this whole Covid time. I told Dr. Clark my story of what happened and he started cracking me and then had the massage. I've had Dr. Clark and Dr. Cambrie for chiropractor work and both are awesome, nothing but good things to say. They did a very good job explaining things to me and what my next 12 sessions were going to consist of. I was also lucky enough to 'try' all of the massage therapists, Christine, Richard, Kenneth and Alexandra. They all did a wonderful job and each has their own specialty style. It's a good way to figure out what type of style or therapy you like or works for you. Most of my sessions were with Kenneth and he did a very good job tuning me up. I would almost equate it to a 100,000 mile checkup for my body. All this said, I highly recommend Mississippi Chiro for general check up work or small once a month maintenance work on a long ailment. The staff there are so friendly and they really took the time to explain things to me. I had been to THREE other practitioners with three different diagnosis and after they did extras, the Drs at MS Chiro finally hit the nail on the head which was a huge relief. I did x-rays which was an eye opener to the issues I had due to over 2o years of physical labor. I now know why I was suffering from pain for so long. I have seen many different chiropractors over the years using varying techniques from manual, drop tables, and electronic hand held devices. Dr Clark uses all three methods when needed. These are by far the best results I have had from any chiropractor. I loved my families chiropractor growing up but took a chance on a groupon with Mississippi including a massage. I was very impressed by Dr Clarks attention to detail and really taking time to address all of the issues with my back. He has a great level of professionalism, yet down to earth and very comfortable to be around. He also has a great sense of his patients needs and always makes his adjustment at the perfect time, never catching you off guard. I have an auto-immune disease - so my treating doctor was always telling me that pain is normal and expected in my back & legs. I thought this was something I would just have to live with forever. Turns out that after seeing Dr. Pitcairn for an adjustment, I have a dramatic reduction both in the number of places where I have pain, and in the severity of the pain. Apparently, body pain is not something we have to live with after age 30! I can finally sleep again, because my body isn't in pain. I rest easy, and through the night! Like others on here, I was referred by another patient of Dr. Clark's. Clean, classy office environment and very professional. I had muscle spasms and what felt like a pinched nerve in my shoulder that I've always had all my life but during this particular visit, it was getting really bad. It was one of those things where I felt like I was just going to have to endure it for the rest of my life. Well, Dr. Clark and his staff had me fixed up in two visits. I haven't had the pain since. I made the mistake of thinking that the pain could go away after one visit. Word to those who've never been to a chiropractor: It usually takes at least a couple of visits or more to make the pain go away. I'm glad I came back after the first because the second visit did the trick! And they don't prescribe any more visits than you need. I remember going to a chiropractor in El Paso who got all excited over my PPO plan and tried to schedule me for as many visits as possible during my two-week work trip. You will get no such pressure from Dr. Clark. His staff was very nice and obviously since they took care of the pain - Awesome! read more
