Use someone else! Had them come and do some upgrades in my garage in 2016. I go to sell the house and a breaker was found to be double loaded in violation of electrical codes. When I reached out their master electrician went into full denial mode that they didn't install that outlet and it's not in the paperwork. I paid well over 1000 dollars for the project which seemed high to install and upgrade some plugs but I wanted it done right. I even offered to pay for the double pole breaker to fix it and they wanted to charge a full service call to make it right. Complete lack of integrity and accountability. I am not sure how that outlet got there but being that I had to use an electrician to install the upgrade not sure how I would have managed to install that one. I'm sure there are much better companies that actually stand for something you could use! read more

Mister Sparky--Sarasota area. Some of the technicians are good, it's the hard-sell ones you need to watch out for. Don't sign those tablets they thrust out at you until you get other estimates. If you look at the employee reviews on Indeed, you will see that they get almost as much training in sales as electrical work. After a while they are paid commission only which means they must charge the customer 30% more on product and service than the norm to make a living. Note, Mister Sparky offers a lot of guarantees, but none guarantee you won't get screwed. Find a local, non-franchised sparky instead. read more

I called your office for service on two outlets that were not working in our bathroom. Chris Madena, your trechnician came to our house to troubleshoot the two outlets that were not working. I had a broken ankle and tried helping him. I thought that your technician would be able to fix these repairs without my help. Chris, took numerous pictures of our control panel...OK - then he asked me numerous times for my help. After 4 hours and no repair had been done, Chris said he had to leave, but I should pay him for the visit... I asked him to cap off the live wires, before he left.... which he gave me an attitude comment. I was left hanging, what to do now? I realize he is no longer working for your company..However, I am out $248.00 for nothing. I thought he would come by our house the next day or call us. We did not hear from your company. t called MB Electrical and the two outlets were repaired within the hour, thanks to Mr.Billy McDonald at MB Electric Company. He was very efficiant and their charge was less than your technician charged me....when I hear your ad on the radio now, about not putting up with McLarky,....bad service..Yada, Yada and so forth.. Our electrical panel went out and we were without power. We called them that day, a Saturday, and the guy claimed they would have to install smoke detectors in order to pass an inspection on our electrical panel, which is outside. He then went on to give us a cost of $8,000-9,000! We told them no, and then next day, he text my husband to say he was wrong on the smoke detectors and the cost is now only $5,000. I don't know how smoke detectors cost $4,000. We found another company to do our work for 1/3 of the cost they were trying to charge. I believe he saw a woman, with a child and animals and tried to take advantage of the situation. Shop around before using! The prices are insane! read more

Mister Sparky rescheduled my appointment because they had calls from other customers without power from the storm over night. Guess what, I have the same problem. I live in the neighborhood with the power issues also. When I asked if they would keep my appointment they said they might get me in Thursday...? I had an appointment I have an outage they scheduled another customer my appointment because they assumed their issue was worse without talking to me. UPDATE: Owners contacted me and noted that the issue was invoiced incorrectly, made corrections and sent me a new invoice for my leak damage. They are coming out next week to make some revisions to my electrical system. I give them an A for effort so far. Hopefully, things will work out. ------------------------------------------------------------------- ORIGINAL POST: Mister Sparky came out to tell me if the wires in a particular room were OK after a leak. He diagnosed a long list of things that would cost over 6K to repair....probably more like 7K...it was extreme. These items were not near the leak. Also, I was charged for a service that was not done according to receipt. I had an inspection and the invoice said something else, which I hope wasn't more expensive than it should have been. It said a "panel rejuvenation." Also, they charge an estimation fee. In total, his visit was $407. I called the office to get a corrected receipt for my insurance claim and they never returned the call. If I follow up on the recommendations, I will not use this company. Their representative was very polite and punctual. According to the list of needed repairs, I can assume he was thorough. He just wasn't completing what I had called him for and instead came up with an extremely inflated repair list. At the end, they have you complete a satisfaction survey right in front of the guy...rather uncomfortable...like you are going to say something bad right in front of him. Mike came out last Friday after we were having AC issues. Our electrical panel was on the fritz and we needed a new meter. He was very professional and knew what the problem was right away. Mister Sparky comes to your home with a fully stocked van, so we were able to get our problem fixed immediately. He spent most of the day here working and had it all up and running in no time. Very happy with their service! We had some burnt wires replaced along with 5 outlets in our kitchen. Yovani showed up soon after we called, which was late afternoon, made an honest evaluation of what we needed and presented options on corrective action. He even offered to do the job that evening but we decided it was too late and had him come back the next morning, which he did ON TIME. I was just going through paperwork and pulled out my bill from this company. I had one light switch that was not functioning properly. The SALESGUY/ELECTRICIAN that came out said he had to conduct a full inspection. My house was around 10 years old at the time so not old. He came up with a page full of recommendations of work that his company needed to perform. Recommended work: $5896. Mind you I called for one light switch. I ended up paying $341 that day for this switch and his inspection. I never knew the inspection was a charge and would be so much. He took forever to do this inspection. It was a horrible/stressful experience. I couldn't wait for this Mister Sparky employee to get out of my house. So BEWARE! They will swindle you. read more

Minus 2 for possibly attempting to stack the reviews deck on Yelp. That renders my review to a 3. People make decisions based, in part, on these reviews. Any feedback from others who did *not* like the service, got a customer service call and informed them of dissatisfaction, and yet was still asked to post a (likely negative) review? If so, if some unhappy customers were, in that case, requested to write a review, then my rating of Mr. Sparky will rocket to a strong 5. As a woman getting lots of work done in her house (alone) I felt completely comfortable. The guys were so friendly, on time, and got things done quickly. You need to read this before you use Mr. Sparky, or ANY service company! I'm an electrician with 28 years of industrial experience, and I have never seen such arrogance and predatory tactics in play as what I'm about to describe to you. So, I'm out of the country in November working offshore oil & gas. My wife texts me that our gable attic fan is making a loud noise. The fan was replaced by me 10 years ago and sounding like failed bearings, I text her back to go find the circuit breaker and turn it off before it shorts out and causes a fire. I then give her detailed instructions on how to go to Lowe's and buy a new fan for about $120, and get quotes from local electrical companies to have it replaced. At most I would be looking at about $350 to have this done. Wife texts back that the breaker is off, I breathe a bit easier, family safe. Fast forward two weeks. I return home and after a few days decide to investigate the fan issue. I was then informed by my wife she had already taken my advice and had it replaced...by Mr. Sparky...cost $1,099.00. Well, I flew off the handle and demanded quotes from the other electrical companies,etc... I finally calmed down and determined she had did the best she could with her limited technical knowledge. I then called Mr. Sparky and asked for a firm price quote for the replacement of a gable attic fan...(lock out the breaker, 4 mount bolts and three wire nuts, humping the new and old fans to/from the attic, driving to/from location, about two hours of work)...the "polite" young lady taking my call informed me that "it was not their policy to give price quotes and each technician charged what they felt needed to be charged as all electrical jobs were deemed different". I then proceeded to give her a "polite ear full" and "politely" terminated the call. Folks, you need to call around and get several firm labor quotes from local reputable companies, you need to do a bit of price checking on parts at your local hardware stores or online to get an idea of what the price of new parts should cost. Beware of bait and switch tactics...and of course...them selling you a bunch of over priced crap you do not need once onsite. Mr. Sparky's technician, "Tommy", just took advantage of a non-technical person and overcharged my wife about $700, that's the same as going to my attorney for three hours or me going offshore for an entire day! We all know electricians do not earn $350 per hour unless they're crooks! Well, off to the BBB website! read more

I called Mr. Sparky to address some concerns with my breaker box. The phone staff was very helpful and courteous. They worked with me to schedule a time that was best for me. The electrician who arrived, Mike, was very polite and knowledgeable. Mike arrived on time and completed the job quickly. Once the job was complete, Mike sent me a digital receipt to my email. I wish more service company's would do this as I do not like paper laying around. If I ever have the need for an electrician again, I will defiantly call Mr. Sparky and see they can send Mike back out. read more

I have used Mister Sparky a couple times before so I have an electrician that is assigned to my home. I like that they do that so I know who's coming and he already knows the house. Jeremy is my assigned electrician, and he's great! He explained everything to me and didn't try to nickel and dime me on stuff. I don't mind the service fee and the inspection fee because they need the information before they get to work on your property. It's a safety issue for them and you! I had another great experience today with Jeremy and plan on using them for the rest of the time I will live here. read more

I'm giving the service 4-stars, not due to the work, but because of the price. I would rate them 5/5 for the work done. The techs were very professional and did an excellent job (although they did leave some trash behind in a trash bag) and there was no drywall damage. They were friendly and explained all of the work they were doing. The price was a bit much. I had a bathroom vanity light installed and a recessed light installed which cost about $750. Plus I had to pay to have them come and provide an estimate for the work (they did not do an inspection of my house like another reviewer stated). Had a GFI outlet than needed replacing for an outdoor fountain. Called Friday morning and an electrician was out around noon- and they called to say he was on the way. Good customer service, polite schedulers and nice/quick service. Only thing may have been the set price. $238 to come out and replace the GFI unit which took all of 10minutes. read more

When calling Mister Sparky they were extremely prompt with answering their phone along with listening to us and being very polite and understanding. They were able to get a technician out to our home very quickly. The tech that serviced our home was Mike G. and he went above and beyond in everything that he did. He was outside late into the night to fix our electrical issue and not only did he show that he cared with his actions, but after he fixed the huge problem he actually said to us that, "now he would be able to go to sleep without worrying". He was so polite, helpful, and got the job done so quickly. Their workmanship was top notch and they were able to get a HUGE job done in a short amount of time. I know that there may be other companies out there showing cheaper pricing, but you definitely get what you pay for. Mister Sparky and Mike G. are amazing and we will only call them for all of our electrical needs. This is a company that is experienced, professional, and backs their work with warranties.
