I've been here three times, I haven't experienced the karaoke or show nights yet. This place is nice for the retro games and the drinks. The bartenders are nice and make good drinks. I thought the food was okay until I saw some the kitchen staff do something I didn't agree with (there's a semi open kitchen downstairs). But the staff that waited on us on that particular day was very nice and was good at explaining the menu. I would come back for an hour or two for drinks and games but not for food. read more

Pretty obsessed with this spot. The food is amazing, some people forget about the food and just skip to the arcade. Their burger and their fried chicken is amazing. And their drink the Becky is my go to. Only thing that's rough about this slot is JTs super small so having a large party here would be tough. read more

This place is interesting. A very mixed environment, fancy-ish bar area, but they have arcade games as well. The drinks were pricey, and the Manhattan I ordered wasn't that great. Good food & service. I arrived at the bar minutes before closing. I had no idea and felt bad for walking in a such a late time. The server behind the bar said that it was absolutely no problem and to come have a seat. He asked me what I wanted and I described an old style drink that wasn't on the menu. My husband and I stopped here with some friends to check out the drinks and arcade. After all the hype I've heard, I guess my expectations were a bit too high. The drinks were expensive and the space was a bit awkward. I could see some people enjoying the nostalgic games, but even my husband, a total video game nerd, was let down. If you are looking for something to do that is different go to Misuta Chow's. My friend did have the octopus hotdog, but we really didn't eat there. We went upstairs and played games. They had old school games like Pac-man, Donkey kong, Qubort, etc. It brought me back to my childhood. It was a perfect night to enjoy video games with old friends. The octopus hotdog was very interesting and didn't taste that bad. I will be back for more food soon. read more

Stopped in before a bandits game with my wife and kids. We had another family meet us for dinner as well. They sat the eight of us upstairs adjacent to the video games which worked great for the kids. Be ready for a energetic atmosphere with folks moving around to get to the games and folks playing pinball next to the table. Really good to keep the kids entertained and have some fun before the game. The cocktail menus has a nice mix of some creative Asian inspired mixes that we all enjoyed. Food was good as well. We shared a variety of small plates with the adults and the kids went with noodle and rice dishes. All the food was really well prepared and everyone enjoyed. The unique steamed buns were fantastic and there are some on the menus we're looking forward to going back for. Servers were fantastic but seemed to be short on the amount needed. Resulted in long waits for drinks and extended dinner duration. We planned to take the train from the front door of Chows to the stadium and the long dinner caused us to arrive later than we would have liked, but the great experience made up for it. The Good: 1) My Steak Skewer Kushiyaki Bowl with fried rice was delicious and quite wonderful. 2)The Pork Gyoza was also delicious 3)I sat at the bar, and as such, the bartenders were attentive, friendly, and were extremely helpful. The Bad: 1)The place is full of people who speak in that annoying, pretentious yuppie douchebag accent. You know what I'm talking about, where they stress the vowels in their words and talk a little more "nasal"-y: "Im not sure if I am taking the Lexus or the EscAAALLLADE to the wine tastIIIng next SaturdAAAAy." 2)I went up to the arcade, and I still cant properly time Bald Bull's "Bull Rush" Uppercut in "Punchout." ;-) ...I nominally jest about "The Bad." Had a good experience here but the food is expensive for the quantity provided. I tried their karaage chicken and Dunbari bowl which was tasty. Their whiskey cocktails are a must try. The inside section was too loud to keep a conversation going. There is an arcade on 2nd floor which can make you nostalgic. I don't need to talk about their famous pink stairs where you have to get a mandatory picture for Instagram. Overall a night well spent. read more

These prices don't urge people to buy more drinks at all. We got one and after we finished that and a few games, we left. The food is great here. I tried sushi, chicken skewers, and a rice ball. The venue is nice. There's two levels, however, it does feel a little small. There's arcade games you can play for about $1 each. They have Donkey Kong, ski ball, pinball, and plenty of other games. It was a lot of fun but several of the game machines weren't working. I highly recommend this spot during their sushi/raw fish week. I think it's the first week of every month. This place has awesome vibes, entertainment, and excellent food. I didn't try any of the Japanese drinks but they had quite the list. Micheal, one of the bartenders, was warm, knowledgeable and entertaining. The salmon tartar was absolutely amazing. Order it. I like that this place offers something different than the traditional Buffalo spot. The owner and his wife are super welcoming and the food is really good. We even had the wings and they're legit. The upstairs arcade is just too cool. Don't be thwarted by the curb appeal, this place is clean, neat and offers some good food options, not to mention great Japanese whiskey. read more

They second floor bar was managed poorly , Yhe bartender didn't even have a cash drawer for 20 min after we ordered ...we were the only ones at the bar , he did not make any attempt to interact with us but was hanging out with s blond lady who was part of your staff. Damn! This place is really cute. To me, the menu is perfect. There's a little bit of 'everything' on there in terms of Japanese snacks. The price point is exactly where it should be & the flavors were super fresh & really, super on point. I enjoy sitting at the bar upstairs, but I'm looking forward to snagging a seat at the bar downstairs overlooking the open kitchen. I love an open kitchen & those chefs look like they'd be pretty fun to watch. The music is bumping & the drink options are aplenty. You'll have fun here, so be prepared do that. read more

Went here tonight with a big group of friends. I opened a tab, thinking we would have a few drinks. It didn't live up to the hype and was really warm in the building, so we decided to leave. I went to close my tab and the bartender had given my card to a random person and charged my card for their drinks! She had to run upstairs to retrieve the card from another woman and acted like it was no big deal. She charged MY card for their drinks. AND gave my card to someone else. And then had the audacity to act like it wasn't a big deal at all. I was furious, and they comped my one drink, but I will never be back and if you're opening a tab you should think twice and be very careful about which bartender you give your card to, clearly they don't have any attention to detail. read more

Service: One of the bartenders lost my credit card and claimed that I must be the one in the wrong because he didn't have it behind the bar. It turned out that there were two of the same card and, while it COULD have been an honest mistake, the initial reaction was despicable. An establishment should bend over backwards to accommodate an error involving a piece of important ID like this, but there was was nothing more than shrugs and "Sorry, we don't have it, don't know what to tell you." Eventually, another bartender (manager, perhaps?) came from out back and said he would look into it. He was a little more apologetic and explained he would try to reach out to the other card owner. Despite this, I never received a followup call from him or Misuta Chow's. The next day my bank records showed the card continuing to be used throughout that night so I had to call to explain the situation, dispute those charges and cancel it. Food: Modest menu with decent amount of options, but the food was just okay. They messed up our order, giving us 2 of something we didn't order and forgetting 1 of what we did. My friends who ordered the chicken said it wasn't cooked well enough. Atmosphere: The cool vibe and upstairs games (one Skee Ball machine had broken score keeping, though) are great for competing with friends. Good variety and lots of nice throwback gems. And there's a Instagram-magnet pink stairwell, if you're into that thing. Final verdict: This place had lots of potential to spice up the downtown core, but regrettably they are severely lacking in customer service and logistics. read more

Fun bar, never had the food, the arcade and pink staircase are fun. Don't order a Corona because they are tiny and it can be a struggle to get to the upstairs bar. Good mix of different aged people in there. I don't know why but there where a few different groups of bachelorette parties happening so it must be good for that. We had been wanting to go here for a while now. We went with a friend to celebrate an academic achievement. We ordered shrimp shumai and pork gyoza dumplings to start with. The Sinai was pretty good and the dumplings were ok. The meat inside the pork dumplings seemed to be boiled ahead of time or had a weird texture. The wrapper was thin and nice and the flavour was good but the texture put me off. My husband was ordered the shio ramen which was warm, full of flavour and delicious. The pork was well seasoned and cooked. My friend ordered the udon noodle soup. The broth was different than the ramen but flavourful and delicious, love the succulent mushrooms in the soup and again the pork was cooked well. I ordered the pork bai buns which were good but not outstanding. I also ordered 1 skewer of the pork belly which was soft, succulent and cooked to perfection with picked vegetables which provided a nice clean break from the fatty pork belly and made the dish outstanding. I would give Misuta Chow's about 3.5 stars but could do half a star on the ratings. I will most likely come back and get the soups myself. I good place to come out with friends. read more

I feel like this place is a good 'first try' for this type of modern entertainment space in Buffalo, but compared to similar places I've been in other cities it was a disappointment. My boyfriend and I came for dinner and sat at the ramen bar. My boyfriend ordered a rice bowl with skewers; I ordered double ramen extra spicy. My boyfriend enjoyed his food (the pork belly was excellent, chicken was so so), but it wasn't much for what you have to pay per skewer. I really liked the ramen, it was a unique spin on a favorite of mine. At some point in the evening the service became excruciatingly slow, and it took us almost a half hour to get our check and pay. After dinner, my boyfriend and I went upstairs to check out the arcade. The vibe is really cool in there, and the arcade games are obviously carefully hand picked. I thought it was a very curated, nostalgic collection of games and so that was neat. The games are incredibly expensive for what they are, however, and you can't get many plays in for less than $20. I was there on a weeknight, so it wasn't overly crowded, but I'm sure it would be annoying on a weekend. Overall, it was really kitschy and we had an okay night but it didn't stack up in the arcade/bar category for me overall. Too expensive for what it is and they need to smooth some kinks. read more

Absolutely loved this place, however had an issue with the bartender. First time I ordered a drink, I waited 10 minutes. When she finally came over to me, she said she had to go sing karaoke and would be right back, so I waited even longer. The second time I ordered a drink, I waited, again, and when she finally came to me she said she had to use the bathroom quick. No problem. However, she came out of the bathroom and began to take other orders before me, while I was still standing at the bar waiting. I asked at one point how much shots were and she told me, "like $2" so I ordered shots for my friends and I, only to find out shots are $5. This place was a lot smaller than I imagined, but they managed to not make it feel overcrowded or crammed. Super cute atmosphere in the dining area that makes you feel like you're dining on the streets in China (Japan?). The food was pretty good, I had the bowl with a chicken and pork skewer and didn't have a problem finishing it - the proportion was just perfect. After we went upstairs and played some games and had a couple drinks. Again - a lot smaller than I thought but it still wasn't crowded. I can imagine feeling crammed on a busy night, but I went on a weekday. My only complaint was the service was slower than I would've liked and it took a while for our food to come read more

It was more of a busy, crowded bar atmosphere than I expected or enjoyed (also, everyone gets ID'd, so I wouldn't bring anyone under 21 to eat). Very interesting and thoughtfully created interior to create a look of a Japanese street. Smaller but decently crafted menu. Portions are on the smaller and more expensive side, but quality is pretty good. And some interesting cocktails. Service was friendly. This place isn't to my taste at all, so I probably won't be back, but it's clearly a great & popular place for 20-something Americans with a love of all things Japan; so I've rated accordingly. This was a neat experience. When you walk in, you get a Japanese vibe based on the decorating. They did not have a cocktail menu (they said it's coming soon?) but they did have a draft menu with some interesting options, including a sake that tasted like wine. They made a good old fashioned for me. I think the bartenders were a bit overwhelmed because they had a huge crowd at the time I arrived (midnight) but they were nice. We went upstairs and half of the floor was all arcade games - nice! I played some pinball and pacman with my date haha - I felt like a kid again. To be honest though, I thought the place was over-hyped. Other than some of the decorations downstairs and menu options, I don't think people should say the entire place is based on a Japanese concept. The arcade seemed like any other arcade in the US. I think they have room to improve and I'm certain they can do it. I would still like to try their food sometime, so I'll be back! read more
