Yes. I'm new to Nashville. I'm pushing two months now. When I headed to Mitchell's 30 min ago, I NEEDED food. The Banh Mi was my choice and the way I just consumed it in my car in the 10 min drive back to the office is horrifying and yet I am not ashamed. It was delicious, sweet and spicy and pickled. Holy smokes, this is one of my favorite breakfasts ever! The hot breakfast buffet rules! The eggs, grits and biscuits were all incredible. This place is great! They use locally sourced ingredients to make some of the best sandwiches in the city! My personal favorite is The Turkey Apple Brie. It comes on a Silkes hoagie and has jalapeño cranberry relish, apples, turkey, honey mustard and Brie! It's served warm so the Brie melts and the combination of flavors is just amazing! I am what some might call a turkey sandwich connoisseur, which probably means I need to step out a bit more, but the heart wants what it wants. That said, the best turkey sandwich I have ever had is from Mitchell Delicatessen. I first visited Mitchell in November 2015 while in town interviewing for a job that would relocate me to Nashville (it worked out, here I am). My tour guide/friend suggested we stop in for a bite while looking at neighborhoods around the city; as soon as he said "great sandwiches," I was in. I liked the clean and simple decor, and the range of about 10 beers available on tap. There is also a salad bar which is likely just fine, but if you come here, you come for the sandwiches. There's a wide range of flavor profiles, from the familiar turkey and avocado or Reuben to the Italian to the Caprese to the Asian Bahn Mi to the brisket. (The brisket sandwich is also very good and has excellent mix of flavors.) The turkey and avocado is perfection; the thick and hearty sandwich is roasted turkey, fresh avocado, thick-cut tomatoes, melted cheddar cheese, sprouts, and bacon, all on toasted wheat bread (mayo is standard if that's your thing; I sub mustard instead since mayo is gross). Sandwiches are served with a dill pickle spear, and Miss Vickie's chips are available as a side. It's just so good. The one downside is that parking and seating can be a beast during lunch time on the weekends. The parking lot is small, and while there is parking behind the restaurant across the street, it's still pretty tight. You might have to wait a few minutes, or you might have to park down the street, but it's worth it. read more

After all the rave reviews I decided this was a place I needed to try. I had the turkey avocado sandwich and my husband had soup. The bread on the sandwich was great, and the sandwich tasted good but I don't know that it's the best I've ever had. I think I expected more unusual sandwiches and maybe I didn't look hard enough but it just seemed normal. My husband had the soup because he had not been feeling well so maybe he's not the best judge for the soup. It was definitely hot which is a 10 star in my opinion! It was especially cool to have the jukebox. That was a fun experience. Even though I only gave this 4 stars I would return to try again on our next visit. I've been a Mitchells fan for years, but I don't think I can say that anymore. Ordering online is a nice option because you don't have to stand in the lunch rush line. Today I thought I'd try something slightly different (gluten free bread). This was a terrible idea. I purchased a pimento cheese sandwich, which usually is LOADED with ingredients...today it was about the size of my iPhone 6 and not much thicker. It was so thin I was really thinking they forgot it was suppose to have pimento cheese on it! And ow that I think about it there wasn't even tomatoes. I would have taken a picture, but I was so hungry by the time I got home I ate it in two bites and searched for other snacks right after. So bummed I payed $10 for a sandwich sliver and they charged me extra for subpar gf bread. read more

Got the seitan supreme sandwich (minus the feta) which was super delicious and came back two days later to try the BBQ Asian tofu sandwich which was also great.
