Cute old town spot serving up classic diner food in a cozy environment. While pretty unassuming from the street, as soon as you walk in you're greeted with a very cute pink and mint green decor, that feels right out of the past. There's tables, small booths, and stools at the counter, and the staff is super welcoming and friendly. The food is what you would expect from classic diner fare, the breakfast being extra oily but solid. There are lots of options for full meals, down to even 8ish types of toast. Wow....everything was amazing! I usually don't get a lot of feta when I order it in an omelette but there was feta in every bite. The portions as you can see are great for the price. FYI the sausage gray is salllttyyy so if you need to avoid salt, just convince someone else to order it and have a few bites. Seriously it was amazing. Everything you see was cooked to perfection. I'm here in town dropping my daughter off at school at NYIT and came across this cool little restaurant. I was in the mood for breakfast and found the Our Town Grill on Yelp. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a gentleman Teddy who seated me immediately. I picked a seat outside by a fountain surrounded by a garden. The server Lisa was extremely friendly and attentive. This is the kind of place where the whole vibe is that they want you to be happy and feel welcomed. Breakfast came out within a few minutes and was delicious. The bacon was nice and crispy, the coffee excellent and the eggs cooked perfectly. Highly recommend. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. The service was downright horrible--disrespectful and unprofessional from start to finish. The food was just as bad: fried chicken that was ice cold in the middle, a steak sandwich on stale bread, and two mediocre burgers that were certainly not worth $20 each. When we mentioned the chicken was still frozen, the waiter casually responded, "Do you want me to refry it?"--absolutely unacceptable. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, we were forcefully prompted to leave a 20% tip, as if such poor service and food quality deserved it. We left with dirty looks from the staff, but also with certainty: we will never return, and we'll strongly discourage anyone else from dining here. read more

Cute place. Service was friendly but a bit slow at times. Chicken fingers and fries came out hot and just the way I like them. Honey mustard was great too. Our Town is wonderful. So happy to have a place like this nearby. Cute decor, fabulous staff, and good food. I recently read a few of the negative reviews and thought WHAT? We go often. The staff is wonderful, warm and friendly, and the owners, Jerry and Richard, are top notch. The decor is so nice, like being back in time. It gets crowded, especially during lunch or weekend breakfasts, so there might be a wait. When school is out, there can be a lot of kids, because this is a place that treats kids with respect. Richard, one of the owners, always asks the child, what they are going to eat. It is so respectful how he does this. I saw two comments about them being "racist". I am an observant person and I have never seen anyone on the staff treat someone differently because of their race, or any other cultural factor. In fact, the staff is quite diverse themselves. And drug addicts waiting tables? As I've said, I've been here a million times & have NEVER been waited on by a drug addict. Have no idea where this comm came from. Regarding the tip, these people work so hard for their money. Tipping is part of eating out in most places other than fast food chains. I'm sorry for your financial circumstances, but perhaps it would be better if you ate at a place that does not expect tips. As for the price of the food, the prices are clearly posted on the menu. it's customary to not eat in a place that you feel is too expensive. But, to post complaints about prices that you were aware of and chose to order the food anyway, is not fair. For anyone else reading these reviews, don't be persuaded by people who go into a place during a popular event like the tree lighting and find fault, where there is none. Give it a try! read more

This is an enjoyable little coffee shop. I like that they have specials that include your drink. The food is good, and the portions are well-sized. Thewaitress, however, is a surly old gal. It's Our Town! One of Malverne's town jewels and for a reason. Went back for the first time in ages today and the hostess couldn't have been nicer! Pricing is more than fair, especially compared with other local diners where the staff isn't nearly as kind, helpful, or patient. I was in the mood for a fried egg sandwich with bacon. The menu is extensive offering many lunch and breakfast items all day long. They close at lunch time on weekdays at least but are open later Friday, Sat. and Sun. Starting with the ambiance-- this restaurant is a throw back to the good old days in the best way possible. It is adorably decorated with pink and green wallpaper and kitschy framed signs and posters. The service feels like home. Janet is warm and welcoming. Richard was excellent-- so kind and attentive. The food was great. They have onion rye bread that's delicious, the corned beef hash tasted homemade, and the home fries were excellent. The standout dish were the pancakes which were some of the best around! We only wish we had a place like this closer to home. Malverne is lucky to have this great spot! read more

Sooooo unbelievable service! My husband and I were looking for a place that was new for us for Sunday breakfast, and just wow. I am gluten free and the chef/cook came out to talk to me about my options was so sweet. The server Keith was great too! Was is the area and since the COVID 19 ban had been loosen a bit decided to have breakfast outside. The sun was out and was a wonderful day. If i can put 0 stars i would , i was in town for a Christmas tree lighting with my little family 2 kids and my husband . We stopped here for a quick bite and thought it would be great but when we were publicly embarrassed infront of everyone in the restaurant and two children i felt it was very rude , disrespectful, and distasteful , we put our card on the table to pay and what we felt was a reasonable tip as we are not a rich family and didn't make a fuss about things with our food that was wrong but then again did want to show gratitude . When the server took it and came back and loudly held up the tip and the card and said I'm confused what is this and when we replied it's the tip and payment she i guess told the owner and he came back and said so you guys are tipping this amount on a $114 dollar bill and we responded we thought that was good enough but if not we can put more on the card but in reality we were already embarrassed, annoyed and angry that he felt the tip was mandated , what it was , is they knew we weren't from there and thought they can take advantage because i believe they over charged for the bill anyways . The food was good but not above average , eggs were watery and i asked for a well done and got a medium rare and i am pregnant . Also we got up to leave and we're going to pay the extra for the tip because we got harassed for it and still the owner watched as we got ready to go and ran behind us to make sure we were paying at the register in front the extra on the tip . Tipping isn't mandated and to do that to a family with children and a pregnant mother and publicly embarrass or think you had the right to say those things is disgusting and i hope that this gets to their knowledge and that they stop doing that to people because I've seen another similar review . It's sad that they judged us from walking in aka we are Spanish and it was a YT. Community . I will never support this business again. As someone in the restaurant industry I can't even believe what I just experienced. I ordered my 2 year chicken nuggets and sweet potato French fries. It was literally repulsive looking. Everything was burnt and stuck to eachother like a big blob. My daughter didn't even want to touch it cause it didn't look appetizing and honestly I would never think that is acceptable to send to a table for a person to eat. I kindly asked to send it back and they still charged me for it because supposedly the boss stated to our waitress "my daughter touched it" also he told the waitress he explained that to us which was a lie. Side note: we touched it to show how everything on the plate was fried together like glue. (If we didn't touch it; we're you going to serve it to someone else?) this was my first time here and I definitely will be back. I was skeptical at first when I saw plastic chairs and tables out in the front but the interior design of the place is very cute. Very retro and 1950s. The man who greeted us was very friendly and told us to make ourselves at home which was nice. I ordered the California omelette and it came with home fries, toast and juice. The omelette was so good! I usually don't like omelettes but I decided to get one and I wasn't disappointed. I also love how they butter your toast for you (I'm weird and lazy I know). this place is horrible and racist! their eggs taste like water their pancakes gave me the worst stomach ache ever ! their chicken nuggets was soaked in oil their burgers is under cooked and they have drug addicts as waiters very rude and disrespectful and will chase you out the restaurant demanding for a higher tip they are lucky i was with my family if not they would have something coming to them ! and they over charge I had a short stack of pancakes that was $9.00 and 2 scramble eggs that is extra $2.50 and a pizza burger that was $12 my wife had a cheese burger with onion rings that was $15 and my son got a bacon cheeseburger that was $16 and my daughter got chicken nuggets with fries that was $9.00 and a scoop of ice cream for $5 and we had 6 drinks in total that cost $7 so $42 just in drinks and the bill was a total of $115 and had the nerve to try and embarrassed me about a $5 cash tip I left on the table because that's what I had in cash and said I have to pay more. if I do go back I'm gonna go back to bother and troll them and make their lives miserable! read more

Bottom line is if its not that busy, you will get a very good meal, if it is a saturday or sunday for breakfast or early lunch, buyer beware thats really all I can say. Its not a place you would go out of your way to go too, but it is quaint and I do like the food and atmosphere. I've been there and walked out talking to myself about how good my meal was, how perfect it was cooked, etc...then other times asking myself what happened! Cash only too, fyi.
