"Pleasantly surprised" is an understatement. When my retired parents invite me to "Asian fusion" dinner on sleepy 108 Street in Forest Hills, I expect a small, kitschy family style restaurant more on the take-out side. Nope. Modern decor with a suspended boat centerpiece in the main dining area, dim lighting, and an actual sake menu. Food was equally impressive. Sure, it's more expensive than what you expect to pay on 108 Street, but the food quality's also better than what you expect from the area. Apps are a bit on the small side, but most of the cooked entrees we got (Mongolian chicken, hibachi combos) were very generously portioned. The sushi entrees were just enough.. Which I guess is OK, because not like you'd want to doggy bag sushi anyway. The happy hr is also pretty good. Cocktails aren't particularly inspired, but they are fairly priced at $11. Only "complaint" is the odd placement of the bathrooms smack dab in the middle of the servers' path. If I could give 4.5 stars, I would! read more

A hidden gem in forest hills. Was casually looking for a new sushi spot my girl and I can enjoy for our 3 month anniversary and early Valentine's day. Came across this spot online. What won me over was the decor!! Nice dim light setting, beautiful pictures and ornaments on display. Without a doubt this was a winner. Made reservations not too sure if I would need it. When we arrived we were nicely greeted by staff and escorted to a tab for two. Guess I didn't need reservations . As we walked over there was a bar to my left and a station where they worked their magic. Before being seated I made a quick bathroom run. To all those who don't know, if a place takes the time to design and keep their bathroom clean it speaks levels about the establishment. From where I was standing the bathroom was spot on for greatness . Made my way back to my date as we placed our orders. We ordered 2 soups and 5 rolls which totalled 50 something dollars. We definitely expected more than this. The soup and rolls we're spot on with seasoning, colors, flavors and quality. Definitely coming back . The icing on the cake at the end was when the check came. Mito is one of my favorite restaurant in Queens. The service and food is always consistent. The staff are always attentive and friendly also. One of the server Anna and the staff/management has made my visit to Mito more fun and meaningful because she remembers you and your family. She's always smiling and connecting with everyone. If you're going to be charging $21 for this thai crispy chicken, you better be getting the chicken fresh from the farm. C'mon and how are you going to give this cheap sauce with it? I can find that at the grocery store or might as well go to the corner Chinese food take out than come here and overpay for this. Mito Asian Fusion is a great place to eat if your in the mood for Asian food or sushi. The place was very appealing, it looks small from the outside but is a reasonable size and tables aren't located to close to each other. One thing I must say is that compared to other sushi places in Queens, it looked really nice on the inside. The food were reasonably priced and portions fit the price. I rated it four star because while the food was good it wasn't the best. Sushi was average and was quite similar to what I had at other places. Although friend of mine ordered the red snapper and it turned out to be really good, I recommend you to give that a try! This restaurant is a good find and will be my new go to sushi restaurant in the area. Prices are reasonable, food is delicious, menu is extensive, full bar, and the decor greatly sets it apart; it is intimate, chic, spacious, and clean. Whoever decorated this place should get a pat on the back. Their special sushi roll menu is original and creative; I enjoyed the hot mama and jalapeno yellowtail rolls especially. The 108th street roll deserves a taste as well. Tom yum soup could've been more flavorful. Short-ribs were pretty good. I can't wait to try their other menu items. If there is something I could eat everyday for my entire life, it would be sushi. I went to Mito quite often throughout July-September, their spicy tuna roll is hands down my favorite spicy tuna roll of all the restaurants I've been to. A common issue I've come across with sushi places that are busy or can get busy, are sloppy rolls~ I've never had one sloppy roll from Mito and I've been there on a Friday night for dinner and I was with a group of 4! The staff is so kind and never rush you regardless of how busy they are. Wonderful place! Went here for Valentine's Day and had a great time. The atmosphere was perfect for date night and the restaurant itself is very cute. I got a rose, which I thought was an extra sweet touch. The food was really good, although the mango chicken was a bit too soft for my liking. My bf really enjoyed the crispy duck and calamari. I ordered an avocado roll, spicy scallop and a yellow tail roll. In addition I got one of the specialty rolls - Golden State and I have to say I'm hooked. Love the decor and the ambience of this Japanese place in forest hill. It's very lounge like and upscale like many other reviews stated. A nice bar right by the entrance. Th decor consists of empty beer and wine bottles nicely hung together. In addition there's a kayak hung right above the dining area. Waitresses were super friendly and helpful. I have been wanting to review this place for a while now! This place is so so good! Their filet mignon hibachi is so tender, flavorful and yummy! So is all their other hibachi choices.
