Absolutely -- here's a polished review that sounds genuine and enthusiastic:…read more Frank was absolutely fantastic! He came directly to my house and replaced my brake pads, making the entire process incredibly convenient and hassle-free. He was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly took pride in his work. I really appreciated that I didn't have to spend hours sitting at a shop or rearrange my day. Frank showed up when he said he would, got the job done efficiently, and made sure everything was taken care of properly. It's hard to find a mechanic you can genuinely trust, especially when they're working on something as important as your brakes. I wouldn't hesitate to use Frank again and will definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable, honest, and convenient mechanic. 5 stars all around!

In regard to your response Frank I'll expose again why no one should use you. To start I used you…read moreafter the break issue we resolved to give you a shot. I bring up that brake issue because it eventually became a pattern of dropping the ball, and repeated issues 1. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.

If you are a woman, and worried about your car, being taken advantage of, or just "not knowing",…read moreyou really should go see James! There is a danger though - you might feel a certain urge to smooch your mechanic in gratitude! Being new to Austin, and knowing I needed a engine remount I really just needed to trust yelp. I got a quote from two different, well recommended places, and trusted the reviews. With a quote of $431 for the engine remount, OTS was $135 cheaper than the other guy. I drove my car in, deciding that I basically had to trust the reviews. This is what I told James: "I really must depend on my car. I know the engine mounts need replacing. A tire I think is losing air, not sure about that. I sometimes have trouble starting the car, but I from what other mechanics have said it shouldnt be too serious. Ohh, and there is a check engine light. I have $750, and then I am tapped. Please fix as much as you can within that budget, and help me prioritize the rest". When I picked up the car - the engine remount was done. Several parts got replaced. It had two new wheels; a oil change and realignment. He couldnt fully diagnose the starter issue, except you guys, for a undiagnosed problem, it seems to have vanished. The car starts so much easier. Maybe something or other got tightened when they checked it out - I have no idea. He told me a few, very minor things that still need to get done, and then "within 6 months is fine". Then, he showed me pictures of parts and repairs, explained the details of why what needed to get done, explained his priorities for my car. My price tag? $699. Yes, below the budget, I had so boldly stated! Do you want a mechanic you can trust to be completely honest with you? How about one that will charge you simply what they need to get the job done? I can say this for sure - OTS are my mechanics! (and I will control any smooching tendencies)

My car had died, and based on my understanding, I believed the battery was the issue. I had purchased the battery from this shop about a year ago and was told it had a 3-year warranty, so I came in expecting to have the battery replaced under warranty. Instead, I was told there was nothing wrong with my battery. The situation then turned into an issue with my alternator. I was initially quoted $1,500 for a new alternator, then $1,200, and eventually told Randy's "homeboy" could do it for $500 cash. I told him I didn't have $500, and he asked, "What do you have?" He eventually agreed to $200 cash. When I came back for clarification, I was told I was getting a brand-new alternator. However, when I returned, the same alternator was still on my car. I was then told that the positive wire on the alternator had been fixed and the alternator had been cleaned, and that was what the $200 was for. I was given a $0 receipt for the warranty battery, but no itemized receipt explaining the $200 cash charge. I left extremely confused and feeling like I had been misled about what work was actually being done. I don't know a lot about cars, but customers deserve honesty, clear communication, and documentation of what they are paying for. I personally feel like I was taken advantage of. Be aware of Randy and make sure you get everything in writing before paying for additional work.

Unfortunately, my most recent experience has changed my perspective, and I will not be returning. I dropped off two vehicles for service on a Monday and was told that at least one--and likely both--would be ready for pickup by Saturday. When I followed up that Saturday, neither vehicle had been worked on. I was informed that a mechanic had unexpectedly quit earlier that week, which disrupted their schedule. While I understand that unforeseen staffing issues can occur, I would have appreciated proactive communication. I left both vehicles over the weekend and followed up the next week to confirm progress. I was reassured that at least one vehicle would be ready by the following Saturday. However, when I arrived, neither vehicle was completed. I expressed my disappointment but gave them another opportunity to resolve the situation. During the third week, communication became more difficult. My calls went unanswered for several hours, and I ultimately went to the shop in person. At that point, I was told one vehicle was ready. However, the service was not completed as requested--the alignment I had asked for was clearly not performed, as the front wheels were significantly toed in, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. After three weeks of minimal progress, inconsistent communication, and incomplete work, I can no longer recommend Sun Auto. This is disappointing, as I previously valued the service provided by Shannon and his team.
