I have been a satisfied customer of Sun Auto for over two years and have recommended them to friends in the past. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has changed my perspective, and I will not be returning. I dropped off two vehicles for service on a Monday and was told that at least one--and likely both--would be ready for pickup by Saturday. When I followed up that Saturday, neither vehicle had been worked on. I was informed that a mechanic had unexpectedly quit earlier that week, which disrupted their schedule. While I understand that unforeseen staffing issues can occur, I would have appreciated proactive communication. I left both vehicles over the weekend and followed up the next week to confirm progress. I was reassured that at least one vehicle would be ready by the following Saturday. However, when I arrived, neither vehicle was completed. I expressed my disappointment but gave them another opportunity to resolve the situation. During the third week, communication became more difficult. My calls went unanswered for several hours, and I ultimately went to the shop in person. At that point, I was told one vehicle was ready. However, the service was not completed as requested--the alignment I had asked for was clearly not performed, as the front wheels were significantly toed in, making the vehicle unsafe to drive. After three weeks of minimal progress, inconsistent communication, and incomplete work, I can no longer recommend Sun Auto. This is disappointing, as I previously valued the service provided by Shannon and his team. read more

Had my oil changed today, and the consistent commitment to customer service prevailed. Keep in mind, you cannot make an appointment. They will allow you to drop your car off after hours or throughout the day. Just have a ride lined up because this is a small shop. They do have comfortable waiting room if you choose to wait. I was in pretty desperate need when the AC compressor died in my less-than-five-year old Mazda. As always, manager Shannon and his team took great care of me. This could have been a $3000 repair, but Shannon shopped around for the best replacement compressor at the best price and my total bill was under $2000. This team always goes above and beyond my expectations, which is why I've been going there since before the business changed ownership. Still the same great people, and you can 100% trust what they're telling you. My only criticism is how long it takes to get in. Been getting my car inspected here for 3 years now and I made an appointment at 8am for an inspection, they proceeded to tell me it was gonna be a 45 minute wait even with an appointment then "couldn't complete the inspection" after I waited for 45 minutes because the tint is "too dark" on my front 2 windows when that has never been an issue in the last 3 years. I came in for an oil change an hour before closing and also the day before I had to drive to Houston, and after they rotated my tires it was discovered that two of my tires needed to be replaced (it was a very bumpy ride when I tried to drive away). When I returned minutes before closing to ask them what the issue might be, these men stayed 20 minutes past closing to help me figure it out, and coordinated getting me new tires in the next morning before I had to drive to Houston. When I came in the next day, they replaced the tires quickly so I could get back to a work meeting before having to drive to Houston. Got four tires replaced and an oil change today. Was excited about this place because they were super nice on the phone when I got the quote. Unfortunately, they added a $240 charge for 'road hazard' to my bill without asking me. When I went to pay, they just told me the amount and didn't hand me a receipt or any paperwork showing that this charge had been added. I probably would have just paid it, but it was way more than I had been quoted, so I asked how they were getting to the total. The guy listed off a bunch of things. Still didn't hand me a receipt. I finally asked to see one. When the guy gave me the receipt, I saw the charge for 'road hazard', which he explained was like an insurance for the tires I just bought... Given that that was almost 25% of the cost of the tires, I declined. I'll let you be the judge if that's a reasonable price, but either way, was shady that they just added this to the bill and tried to get me to pay it without telling me up front. If you're going to add something like this to someone's bill you obv need to be super upfront and transparent about it, otherwise you're just trying to pull one over on a customer. Disappointed. Really wanted to like this place because it's close to our house and they seemed were super friendly. This must work often enough to justify the cost of the business (like ours) that they lose. read more

I took my son's 2018 Kia Soul in because he was feeling vibration as he drove. They said they would do a quick driving check and get back with me. They called back in about an hour and said they had found the problem: two tires needed replacement; one of them had separated. As I was talking to them, I recalled that they had replaced two tires last year and said the other two would need replacement in 3 to 6 months. Of course I forgot all about it until now. They got the new tires on for a reasonable price and my son picked up the car the same day. P.S. I went by the next day and asked to see the old tire, not knowing what it would look like. They took the time to find it and explain the failure to me, probably caused by excessive wear on one side. I said it probably needs an alignment. They told me to bring it in and they'd check it. So I did, and they did the check for no charge. The report showed no alignment was needed, but I appreciate the extra effort! read more

My car waited in the bay for an hour and a half, while the "staff" workers sat around the office joking and talking with each other. What more can I say about this entire staff! I got an oil change and tires rotated and I must say these are the best pure honest people I have ever met. The ladies in the office are so kind and caring but don't think for a minute they do know this business like the back of their hands. The owner was constantly around and assisting the other workers there. I was talking to some folks in the lobby from Austin and they agree this is the place to get your car repaired no doubt. Customer after customer coming in and getting treated just the way they would want to be treated. Superb folks!!!!!! Daughter took her mazda 3 here for a right side drive axle replacement. Was given a 1700.00 estimate for drive axle,wheel bearing,brake job and motor mounts. I have been a mechanic for 45 years so I went to austin to trailer the car back to my shop and inspected it. Brakes were fine, rotors and pads within specs. Wheel bearing was close to being out of spec (used a dial indicator to check runout) I replaced it. Drive axle was trashed, replaced it. All the motor mounts were fine except for the lower transmission torque strut. This is a 2 piece mount from the transmission to the car frame. There are 3 bolts attaching it to the transmission. 2 bolts were gone and the third was about to go. This caused an excessive amount of front to back movement which would leave one to assume the mounts were bad if they didn't actually put it up on a rack and inspect it. I repaired the stripped out bolt holes and put 3 new bolts in. I replaced/repaired 3 items for a total parts cost of 200.00 and about 4 hours of labor. I guess single mothers are just an easy target. read more

I hate leaving a bad review. This auto shop has worked on three of my cars in the last 10 years; however I will be finding a new shop. I dropped my Honda CRV off on Monday mid-day. I called ahead of time to see if they could check my car out this week. I was told it would be Wednesday before they could look at it. I accepted that and dropped the car off. On Wednesday around 4:30 p.m., I called to check the status and Shannon (the Manager) indicated that the technician that checked the car for the issue had already left for the day. Shannon told me he would check with the technician first thing in the morning and call me back with the status. Thursday comes, I call at 11 a.m., to check the car status. I'm then told they haven't looked at the vehicle to diagnose it and that it would be another week before they could even look at it. They told me that their lead technician was out. I understand staffing issues but lack of communication is unacceptable. I don't know many people in this town that can be without a car for two weeks. I would have preferred transparent communication ahead of time before wasting three days. read more
